Unfortunately I never took a screencap of his ratings.

2019

Career Leaderboards (Among Retired Players)
Points - 27,742 (2nd)
Steals - 1,767 (3rd)

He also has 2,045 career blocks, which ranks him 5th among the 15 Hall of Famers and accumulated his statistics in 1,330 games.

From the induction speech I gave:

"I can think of no player in my lifetime, save for perhaps Michael Jordan, who meant more to his championship teams and did so much for them in the playoffs as Mateen did. Kobe Bryant had Shaquille O'Neal and Mike had Scottie Pippen, but what Mateen had wasn't a second, glowing sidekick. Instead, his were rings won by individual greatness and the support of an entire ensemble cast. "

Note: This wasn't entirely true for the third (I think) ring because he had Jonte Jones, who was arguably the best center in the league for years with the Dallas Mavericks before I finally got him.

I couldn't find Mateen's year by year stats for his whole career, but I have most of them from when I acquired him via trade:

2013 Stats: 82 games/81 starts - 23.3 PPG 2.4 APG 5.2 RPG 1.8 BPG 1.6 SPG
2014 Stats: 82 games/80 starts - 23.2 PPG 3.6 APG 5.2 RPG 1.7 BPG 1.3 SPG
2015 Stats: 82 games/81 starts - 23.6 PPG 2.4 APG 4.5 RPG 1.6 BPG 1.5 SPG
2016 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 25.0 PPG 3.1 APG 4.5 RPG 1.9 BPG 1.8 SPG
2017 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 24.4 PPG 3.2 APG 4.9 RPG 1.9 BPG 1.6 SPG
2018 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 19.8 PPG 2.4 APG 4.2 RPG 1.5 BPG 1.2 SPG
2019 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 23.3 PPG 2.5 APG 4.7 RPG 1.5 BPG 1.6 SPG
2020 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 23.0 PPG 2.7 APG 4.6 RPG 1.8 BPG 1.4 SPG
2021 Stats: 57 games/57 starts - 23.3 PPG 2.8 APG 4.3 RPG 1.9 BPG 1.4 SPG
2022 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 24.3 PPG 2.0 APG 4.5 RPG 1.6 BPG 1.3 SPG
2023 Stats: 82 games/82 starts - 23.3 PPG 1.9 APG 4.2 RPG 1.3 BPG 1.4 SPG
2024 Stats: 66 games/63 starts - 20.8 PPG 1.8 APG 4.4 RPG 1.2 BPG 1.3 SPG
2025 Stats: 45 games/34 starts - 13.6 PPG 2.6 APG 2.8 RPG 1.1 BPG 0.9 SPG (Sacramento)

I don't have the rest of his 2025 stats. He stayed starting, though and then hung on for another year or two on the bench.

He was the #4 pick in the 2010 draft, so I'm missing his rookie year (2010), 2nd season (2011), and 3rd season (2012). As you can see, though, he established himself as one of the league's top stars by his second season.

He was truly an awesome player. If King gets to Yeaton's level then he will be a hall of fame player, and I'm happy with that.

There was another trade last month apart from ours which was ridiculous, but first the Player/Rookie of the Month awards.

Lebron James wins the Player of the Month award for the month of November by averaging 25.9 points, 5.6 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.1 blocks while leading his Miami Heat to a 12-4 record while being perfect at home.

The number 1 draft pick Kevin King was awarded the Rookie of the Month title for showcasing his skills for the up and coming Toronto Raptors. He averaged 14.4 points, 2.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals a game in the Raptors 11-5 month.

Great news for Kevin, who is giving our team some great productivity, although his shooting percentages are fairly low (.414FG, .673FT and .356 3PT).

Now to THAT trade –

Indiana trades:
2012 1st round pick (IND)

Atlanta trades:
C Al Horford

Why for Indiana:
They get a 14.4 point, 10.5 rebound all-star for their draft pick which will be fairly low seeing as they are 8-6 and tied for 5th in the East. To top it off, he is only 24 years old. Not much else to say.

Why for Atlanta:
They get out from Horford’s 4 year, $36.3 million contract and get a mid round first. But come on, they could have got a MUCH better deal than this. They now have 2nd round pick Gerard DeCray starting at C. Look for the Hawks to drop as Josh Smith is out for 2 months with a broken leg. Bizarre trade.

Winner – Indiana
Does it have to be said? All star for mid first. But for some reason they have Roy Hibbert coming off the bench instead of playing him with Horford for a killer frontcourt. Indiana is looking dangerous.

I am floored. Whoever made that trade should be extradited for war crimes. I didn’t hear any of this but I wish I was in on it.

Our first game for December was a 110-98 win over New Jersey. Flavour of the Month Kevin King shows his polish with 32 points and 8 rebounds. Rajon Rondo helps out with 19 points, 11 assists and 4 steals. Brook Lopez is the standout for the Nets with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Toronto Raptors 12-5

We smash the Bobcats in Charlotte 108-79. Kevin King stands out again with 25 points and 4 steals and we have 6 players in double figures. Special thanks to Shane Battier who held Stephen Jackson to 9/24 shooting.

Toronto Raptors 13-5

Huge litmus test for us next against the 13-4 Heat and we go down 104-94. The big 3 torches us with Lebron James starting at SG going for 27 points and 9 rebounds. Our best player was Sam Dalembert with 12 points and 7 rebounds.
The Heat is looking mighty dangerous and it’s going to take a monstrous effort to top them.

Toronto Raptors 13-6

Coming into the game against the very interesting Pacers we have Rondo and King nursing injuries and it shows in our 105-103 loss. Their two trade prizes steal the show with Nicolas Batum netting 24 points and Al Horford monstering with 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Rajon Rondo tries to overcome his sore arm with 12 points and 14 assists but it’s not enough.

Toronto Raptors 13-7

I make a small trade –

Toronto trades:
2012 1st round pick (CLE)

Detroit trades:
2012 1st round pick (DET)

Why for Toronto:
Elwood thinks that the Pistons will be worse than the Cavs, and at this stage they are (Det – 4-16, Cle – 7-13) but it is still very early.

Why for Detroit:
Joe Dumars thinks that the Pistons are better than the Cavs and acted on it.

Winner – Unknown
It’s just too early to tell in a draft pick for draft pick trade.

Great. On the way back from the change room DeMar DeRozan and Daniel Gibson were heard arguing and had to be separated. I call them both and tell them this will not be tolerated, especially to Gibson who is hanging by a thread here.

We shoot a worse percentage but beat the Trailblazers 89-82 at home. Kevin King scored the most but Ed Davis stole the show from the bench with 7 rebounds and 4 blocks in 18 minutes.

Toronto Raptors 14-7

I’m still dubious of the Pacers starting rookie Michael Sims but in our 115-91 loss to Indiana he shows why. He stomps us for 23 points and 11 rebounds while his new friend Al Horford grabs 21 points and 14 rebounds. Sam Dalembert tries to stop the duo with 11 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks but to no avail.

Toronto Raptors 14-8

I’m a little worried about this 4 game slide and I think I know what is causing it. Daniel Gibson and DeMar DeRozan again square off and I’m pretty sure it’s Gibson who is doing most of the talking. I tell him that he is hurting the team and that he is to be cut from the squad.

Hopefully that will set us straight as we go against the free-falling Hawks who have slipped to 6-13. We pump them 111-72 in Atlanta when they shoot 35% and Joe Johnson scores nearly half their points (34). We outrebound them 60-37 with Earl Barron having a field day on their weak frontcourt with 12 rebounds in 16 minutes. Rajon Rondo is a class act with 26 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds in a game that everyone had decent minutes.

Toronto Raptors 15-8

A better test of our team is against the New Orleans Hornets and we squeak past them 123-117 in overtime. It’s the battle of the PGs with Chris Paul going off for 29 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. He was countered by 24 points and 16 assists. Antawn Jamison shows he still has it with 29 points.

Toronto Raptors 16-8

I’m actually thinking of snaking Atlanta’s pick because of Horford’s departure, but I will wait until near the deadline.

We shot terribly in our 85-79 loss to Utah. Rajon Rondo is our only good player with 11 points, 12 assists, 8 rebounds and 4 steals but when all 5 Jazz starters are in double figures, one Raptor isn’t going to cut it.

Toronto Raptors 16-9

A bounce back win over Washington is what we need, winning 95-88. Sam Dalembert serves a lesson to rookie Michael Nicholson with 17 points and 17 rebounds while keeping the rook to 4 points.

Toronto Raptors 17-9

We have to win this game, not for the win but to keep Detroit from winning, and we demolish them 116-91. Rajon Rondo wins player of the game with 22 points, 16 assists and 6 rebounds. Kevin King has a rare efficient game with 26 points on 11/15 FG.

Toronto Raptors 18-9

We squeeze out a 118-117 win over New York. Rondo stars again with 20 points, 15 assists and 6 rebounds, neutralizing the monster game from Amar’e Stoudemire who had 26 points and 17 rebounds. Varlam Bebutov is playing in the D-League, averaging 9.9 points and 5.5 assists for the Reno Lions.

Toronto Raptors 19-9

Winning over a team like New Jersey is always a plus, as we beat them 104-99. Rajon Rondo continues his hot streak with 24 points, 11 assists and 5 rebounds. Brook Lopez always seems to play well against us, and tonight he scores 22 points and engulfs 18 rebounds.

Toronto Raptors 20-9

Our biggest test of the season is against the Lakers in Los Angeles. This will show if we can play with the boys. And yes, yes we can because we win 113-109. Kobe Bryant starts at PG and Rajon Rondo runs rings around him for 23 points and 7 assists. And when Rondo fouled out, TJ Ford ran the rest of the rings for 22 points. The Lakers’ bigs are too strong for ours with Pau Gasol getting 31 points and 13 rebounds, and his partner in crime Andrew Bynum assists with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Lucky our guards played well.

Toronto Raptors 21-9

We weren’t going to relapse into our losing to bad teams, like Golden State and we beat them in Oakland 111-91. Kevin King storms the Warriors castle with 26 points, with Sam Dalembert providing cavalry with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Monta Ellis was the only resistance with 27 points.

Toronto Raptors 22-9

Our last game for 2011 was a 106-78 win over Sacramento. Rajon Rondo flirts with a triple double, again, with 19 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds. Both DeMarcus Cousins and Zach Randolph have broken bones, which has contributed to their 10-21 record.

Toronto Raptors 23-9

So at the end of 2011 we are 23-9, 1st in the East. You heard me, 1st. Boston and Miami are one game back of the Great White North. Detroit is 3rd last in the East with a 8-22 record, 4 game behind Cleveland.

The Lakers, who we beat I might add, are 1st in the West with a 23-7 record, with the Spurs 2 games back and Denver 2.5 games back from Los Angeles. Phoenix is atrocious this year with a 4-25 record, with Memphis one game in front.

Toronto Top Scorers – Rajon Rondo (16.6), Kevin King (16.5), Shane Battier (13.7), Antawn Jamison (13.6), Sam Dalembert (10.5)
Toronto Top Rebounders – Sam Dalembert (10.7 – 10th in league), Antawn Jamison (6.0), Earl Barron (5.8), Ed Davis (5.1)
Toronto Top Assisters – Rajon Rondo (10.4 – 2nd in league), TJ Ford (3.0), Kevin King (2.5)

As you can see we are a team, not a few individuals. Sure Rondo is massive but we have 5 players averaging double digit scoring with Ed Davis just under, I just hope it keeps up.

League Top Scorers – Kevin Durant OKC (27.8), Lebron James MIA (27.1), Danny Granger IND (25.9)
League Top Rebounders – Dwight Howard ORL (16.1), Amar’e Stoudemire NYK (11.9), Andrew Bogut MIL (11.9)
League Top Assisters – Chris Paul NOH (10.7), Rajon Rondo TOR (10.4), Deron Williams UTA (10.2)

Rookie Top Scorers – Kevin King TOR (16.5), Jason Beck CHA (12.0), Ben Mascoe MIN (11.8)
Rookie Top Rebounders – Jason Beck CHA (8.2), Michael Nicholson WAS (7.4), Michael Sims IND (6.3)
Rookie Top Assisters – Boleslav Silajdic MEM (5.0), Carlos Lang ATL (4.1), Chris Norvell CLE (2.6)

Time for the first draft prospect rankings –

1 – C Travis Randolph (Duke) Freshman
Small (6’9) but is a great rebounder and shot blocker. Look for Randolph to carry Duke this season with his enormous shoulders.

2 – PG Vlasi Kazapov (Russia) 17 years old
One half of the Russian Mafia as they are being called, Kazapov is nowhere near as talented as his counterpart (see below) but oozes potential. Some calling him the Bebutov of this year’s draft.

3 – PF Nikolos Bocharkov (Russia) 18 years old
The other and more NBA ready, half of the Russian Mafia. Averages 25 points and 11 rebounds in the Russian league. In the mould of the Dirk Nowitzki PF.

4 – PF Rashid Shiran (Israel) 19 years old
Bulkier than Bocharkov and more talented, most pundits see Shiran as the better PF. Although only playing in the Israel league, he is putting up 28 points and 17 rebounds for someone that would still be a sophomore in college is impressive.

5 – SG Trent Bailey (LSU) Freshman
Has been likened to Brandon Roy, a jack of all trades. Can score a bit, can pass and rebound a bit but is not a master of any. Scouts aren’t going to make the same mistake with Bailey as they did underrating Roy out of college.

Woo! We have gone from last to first in less than half a year!

Rondo is excellent. I'd probably end up trading King, because of his poor shooting % and my impatience. He looks like he'll be an absolute shutdown defender, though.

His outside shooting should improve, I personally wouldn't give up on him yet.

King has improved his shooting, up to .429 FG, .664 FT and .353 3PT. Not much but he is becoming more comfortable with this team and his team mates. I'm sure he went into this season with a 'I'm the #1 pick for a team that had 20 wins so I am going to have to try really hard' mindset. He has settled down and started playing within himself more.
