You're Moving Us To Toronto?!!

There is no one player that can break away with the MVP as Dwight Howard is the fifth player to win the Player of the Month award, as he averaged 24.8 points, 14.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.7 blocks per game as the Magic went 14-3 and are currently on a 10 game winning streak.

Marlon Zinn has won the entire Rookie of the Month titles so far, this time he averaged 17.4 points, 6.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds as he lead the Suns to a 5-12 record in the month of March.

So we have 9 games left in the season and I would love to get to 70 wins.

The first game was a good one, winning 117-103 over the Thunder, as the battle between the two Kevins was outstanding. For the losers Kevin Durant had 34 points, while on our side Kevin King had 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Ed Davis had 20 points and 4 blocks off the bench as we had 7 players in double figures. Russell Westbrook was held to only 5 points.

Toronto Raptors 63-11

We had 7 players in double figures last night, but in our 121-102 win over Minnesota we had Kevin King with 31 points and Blake Griffin with 33 points and not much else. I guess when they are scoring like that you just get out of their way. Rajon Rondo handed out 17 helpers. The Timberwolves look good but they still have one or two seasons until they are really good.

Toronto Raptors 64-11

Holding Amar’e Stoudemire to 1/10 shooting and only 9 points and Danilo Gallinari to 0/4 shooting for 0 points (he averages 21.2 on the season) will always get us a win, and we did beating the Knicks 111-90. Kevin King had 29 points and 9 rebounds, while Ed Davis stormed off the bench with 12 points in 14 minutes. Raymond Felton was the best for New York with 17 points and 7 assists.

Toronto Raptors 65-11

Going back to New York we beat them again, this time 120-110 as Kevin King lit up Gallinari again with 43 points. DeMar DeRozan helped out with 24 points and Tim Mozgov had 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Raymond Felton had 24 points but it was Varlam Bebutov off the bench who kept them in it with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

Toronto Raptors 66-11

We always seem to lose against the Cavs no matter how bad they are, going down 100-96. Carmelo Anthony had 30 points, Clark Kimm had 10 assists and Chris Norvell had 17 points off the bench while for us it was Blake Griffin with 24 points and 13 rebounds and I’m getting sick of losing to these lowly Cavs.

Toronto Raptors 66-12

Going back to back, this time against Chicago is always hard but we show whose boss with a 120-87 win as Tim Mozgov beats up Yao Ming for 28 points and 12 rebounds. Kevin King helped out with 21 points as Rajon Rondo held Derrick Rose to 6/17 shooting for only 16 points.

Toronto Raptors 67-12

Joe Johnson has 30 points but they have Marvin Williams at C so we beat them up inside to a 99-86 win in Atlanta. Kevin King shot badly for 27 points but Tim Mozgov showed his skills with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Toronto Raptors 68-12

One game from 70 wins now as we beat up Charlotte 105-98 as Rajon Rondo had 14 assists and Shane Battier scored 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Jason Beck is looking great as he had 20 points and 8 rebounds, while 6’8 Thaddeus Young is starting at SG and shoots over DeMar DeRozan for 20 points on 9/10 shooting.

Toronto Raptors 69-12

Our last game of the season is a statement 123-104 win over third place Philadelphia as Blake Griffin has 30 points and Tim Mozgov helps with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Rajon Rondo holds Chris Paul to 6 points and 4 turnovers. Wesley Johnson has 33 points for the losers.

Toronto Raptors 70-12

We go 8-1 in our last 9 games and we get to 70 wins which is great, but the real season starts now.

2014 NBA Playoffs

Eastern Conference:
#1 Toronto vs. #8 Chicago
#2 Orlando vs. #7 New Jersey
#3 Philadelphia vs. #6 Miami
#4 Indiana vs. #5 New York

Western Conference:
#1 Portland vs. #8 Minnesota
#2 Utah vs. #7 Sacramento
#3 Los Angeles Lakers vs. #6 Oklahoma City
#4 Dallas vs. #5 Golden State

We won the series against the Bulls 3-1 and I don’t think this will be a hard series.

Eastern Conference 1st round Chicago vs. Toronto

Point Guard
Derrick Rose vs. Rajon Rondo
22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 9.9 assists vs. 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 10.6 assists
If the Bulls want to win this series then Rose has to play even better than what he is producing, but that might be difficult as Rondo is an excellent defender.

Winner - Chicago

Shooting Guard
Willie Warren vs. DeMar DeRozan
11.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists vs. 12.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists
This is a position by committee as Warren should not be starting but JR Smith isn’t consistent enough to start. Watch for DeRozan to get some big numbers against the smaller Warren.

Winner - Toronto

Small Forward
Taj Gibson vs. Kevin King
9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists vs. 24.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists

Gibson will not be able to stop King; all he can hope for is to slow him down. King is a top 5, or even top 3 player in the league.

Winner - Toronto

Power Forward
Carlos Boozer vs. Blake Griffin
15.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists vs. 19.0 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists

Griffin has been that guy who has taken the Raptors from championship material to dynasty material. Boozer is good but Griffin is a superstar.

Winner - Toronto

Centre
Yao Ming vs. Tim Mozgov
16.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists vs. 14.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists
The numbers are close but Ming still can take over games. Mozgov can also take over games but Ming is better.

Winner - Chicago

Bench
Joakim Noah, JR Smith, Richard Hamilton vs. Ed Davis, Steve Nash, Shane Battier
In previous years the Raptors relied on their bench to extend leads but with the quality of the starters they have been put on the backburner. Chicago’s bench is equal and may even be better than Toronto’s, but we are calling it a wash.

Winner – Draw

Prediction – Toronto in 5.

Kevin King has 37 points, Rajon Rondo puts up 17 points and 17 assists while Tim Mozgov rips 17 rebounds and we win comfortably 116-93. Derrick Rose is the lone highlight with 21 points and 10 assists.

Toronto leads 1-0

In the write up it said that Yao Ming can take over games and he did it in this one as we lose 117-111. Ming had 22 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks and he was aided by Derrick Rose’s 28 points. Blake Griffin had 28 points and 15 rebounds while Kevin King and Rajon Rondo dished out 11 assists apiece but we couldn’t contain Ming.

Series tied 1-1

After that loss there was a fire in our team, and we hold the Bulls to 77 points as we put up 91 and take the series lead. Blake Griffin abuses Carlos Boozer for 22 points adn 15 rebounds while DeMar DeRozan picks up Kevin King’s slack (King shot 4/19) as he scored 14 points and caused Willie Warren to turn it over 11 times. Ouch.

Toronto leads 2-1

We have three players in double figures but that is all that is needed as we come to within one game of moving on in our 104-93 win. Kevin King had 28 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, Blake Griffin had 30 points and Tim Mozgov put in 19 poitns while Rajon Rondo gave out 14 assists but turned it over 8 times. Yao Ming had 24 points and Willie Warren 21, put Derrick Rose was awful, 6/18 shooting and 7 turnovers.

Toronto leads 3-1

There was one sweep, #6 Miami bringing the brooms to #3 Philadelphia. Oh no, the Heat are back.

Derrick Rose shoots 29 free throws, making 19! He also scored 45 points and handed outu 13 assists as we lose in triple overtime 136-124. Some numbers for you:

Chicago – 69 rebounds (we had 52)
Yao Ming – 28 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks
Carlos Boozer – 21 points, 15 rebounds
Taj Gibson, Joakim Noah – 12 rebounds each
Derrick Rose – 53 minutes, 13/25FG, 19/29FT, 45 points, 13 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 turnoveres

Kevin King – 55 minutes, 26 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, 4 steals
Blake Griffin – 39 points, 10 rebounds
Rajon Rondo, Steve Nash, Andrew Norwood – 6 fouls each (Norwood in 5 minutes)

Magnificent game, even though we lost and it will be talked about for years to come.

Toronto leads 3-2

#5 Golden State upset #4 Dallas to move on in 5 games.

We lose again which is making me nervous as the Bulls win 113-104. Carlos Boozer had 26 points and 9 rebounds while Yao Ming and Tim Mozgov battled out a stalemate as Ming had 10 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks while Mozgov had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks. We go back to Toronto needing a win to survive being the first team to 70 wins and losing in the first round (I’m guessing).

Series tied 3-3

We are the only series to go the full length as #7 New Jersey pulls a huge upset over #2 Orlando and #4 Indiana take care of #5 New York in 6 as well. In the West #1 Portland take care of #8 Minnesota, #6 Oklahoma City upset #3 Lakers and #7 Sacramento fulfil another upset by beating #2 Utah. I guess it would only fit if we get upset like most of the rest of the matchups.

The crowd is packed, the team is ready and we don’t want to go from 70 wins to out in the first round. So it was so unbelievably disappointing to see what happened on the court. 41% from the field, 64% from the line. We lose 101-87 and I don’t know what to do. Derrick Rose has 22 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds while Rajon Rondo fouls out again. I have done everything I could for this team.

Chicago wins series 4-3

I spend the rest of the week watching the Ice Hockey playoffs, anything to get my mind off this game but it always comes back to this team. What more can I do?

- We have two top 10 players in the league.
- We have a double double machine at C.
- We have one of the best pure PGs in the league.
- We have up and coming young stars at SG.
- Our bench is decent.
- Our chemistry is fantastic.

What more can I do?

Toronto Playoff Top Scorers – Blake Griffin (24.3), Kevin King (24.1), DeMar DeRozan (15.0), Tim Mozgov (12.9), Rajon Rondo (10.7)
Toronto Playoff Top Rebounders – Tim Mozgov (11.6), Blake Griffin (10.3), Kevin King (7.6)
Toronto Playoff Top Assisters – Rajon Rondo (10.7), Kevin King (6.3), Steve Nash (3.9).

Lottery time –
14 – Washington (0)
13 – Milwaukee (0)
12 – Memphis (0)
11 – San Antonio (0)
10 – Denver (0)
9 – Boston (0)
8 – Houston (0)
7 – Charlotte (0)
6 – Memphis (0)
5 – Detroit (-1)
4 – Los Angeles Clippers (-3)

Ouch.

3 – Detroit (-1)
2 – Milwaukee (+1)
1 – Cleveland (+4)

Awards time, let’s hope our playoff choking didn’t playing into the voters.

Most Valuable Player:
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic – 22.1 points, 1.7 assists, 14.3 rebounds, 0.9 steals, 3.6 blocks.

Defensive Player of the Year:
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

Sixth Man of the Year:
Larry Sanders, Milwaukee Bucks – 7.8 points, 1.3 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 2.6 blocks.

Rookie of the Year:
Jordan Cole, Houston Rockets – 7.5 points, 1.6 assists, 8.6 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 3.4 blocks.

Coach of the Year:
Stan Van Gundy, Orlando Magic – 57-25 (.695)

Well that sucks. How does Van Gundy get COY when they were 13 games behind us and still got bounced in the first round? Rudy T should be mighty outraged. Also, how did Cole beat Zinn? Zinn was a revelation in the league, maybe the voters don’t look at people under 6’5 as all the award winners were big men.

All-NBA First Team:
Chris Paul, Philadelphia 76ers
Joe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks
Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Blake Griffin, Toronto Raptors
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

All-NBA Second Team:
Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls
Evan Turner, Minnesota Timberwolves
Kevin King, Toronto Raptors
Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers
Marc Gasol, Memphis Grizzlies

All-NBA Third Team:
Steph Curry, Golden State Warriors
Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Danny Granger, Indiana Pacers
Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
Andrew Bogut, Milwaukee Bucks

We have 2 All-NBA players and still lose. Urgh.

All Defense First Team:
Chris Paul, Philadelphia 76ers
Monta Ellis, Golden State Warriors
Wesley Johnson, Philadelphia 76ers
Josh Smith, Atlanta Hawks
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

All Defense Second Team:
Jrue Holiday, Philadelphia 76ers
Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Gerald Wallace, Charlotte Bobcats
Ekpe Udoh, Golden State Warriors
Andrew Bogut, Milwaukee Bucks

The 76ers have 3 players in the Defense team, good for them but I thought Rajon Rondo would have been above Jrue.

All Rookie First Team:
Marlon Zinn, Phoenix Suns
Travis Howard, New Orleans Hornets
Dontonio Seymour, Washington Wizards
Claudio Carrera, Memphis Grizzlies
Jordan Cole, Houston Rockets

All Rookie Second Team:
Clark Kimm, Cleveland Cavaliers
James Andrews, Phoenix Suns
Zack Arthurs, Denver Nuggets
Marcus Mickens, Minnesota Timberwolves
Thomas Freeman, Dallas Mavericks

Mr Petway called and said that he thought the team was great but he was a little disappointed about our playoff performance. He is over the moon about how this team has turned around and tells me if I want to continue I can. I tell him I need more time to think things through and will meet him next week.

I'm going to shelve this one for a while because I have too much on my plate for the time being and it takes a long time to get through a season. Especially with DDS:CB2 on the horizon. It would have been good to have some reader input but that is the way it goes.

Yeah, zike...tough to get people reading the dynasties and tougher to get comments. I'm more into DDSCB2 and PS4 (the NBA game and players just don't do much for me) so comment more frequently on those dynasties, although I was reading yours. See you over in the CB2 forums.

Do not despair, as I have found your postings most intriguing. At the very least, I now know how to rebuild my beloved Celtics through these valuable glimpses into the future!

Thanks guys for the comments, but I haven't given up on this thread. I'm just putting it in the off-season as I have neglected my stack of other video games and I really want to get through. So I will be back to the Great White North one day.

New York – In breaking news the NBA has announced that the league will be expanding to 32 teams in 2016, with a major twist in the story. For the first time ever, the voting public will be responsible for the cities that are to be chosen. Using social media and ballot boxes in major cities, Joe Average can have a say to where he wants the new teams to be located.

The voting will run for one year and the top four vote getting cities will be tasked with putting a proposal to the NBA to see which two teams will be picked. The cities will then have one year to prepare for the 2016 season.

Voting starts now now! Go to the Facebook page, NBA.com, the NBA app on your iPhone or to any one of 5,000 voting ballots around the country to get your vote in. You can vote as many times as you like to get your city an NBA team.

NBA – Where Amazing Happens.

Oh yeah, and Felix Elwood will be continuing his position of General Manager for the Toronto Raptors after considering other offers.

[Hopefully this will drum up some reader input. Vote a city (preferably one that doesn’t already have a team) and the four highest voted for cities will be chosen by me to get a team, with colours and nickname ready for the 2016 season.

I have 3 weeks off from work and then I go to Japan after that so I thought I would use some of that 3 weeks to keep this story going.
]

Mr. Petway rings me to go over our annual budget report, which I tell him that we will definitely be championship material but it is going to cost a little more than usual which he did not like.

“The last couple of seasons we have been championship material and close to where I would like and now you say that we are going over? You better bring a championship here, and soon, or look out. The NBA is a business and too much expenditure is very bad for business.”

With that he hung up the phone.

The mock draft goes like this –
1 – Cleveland – PF Reggie Young
2 – Milwaukee – SG Jeff Brown
3 – Detroit – SG Bootsy Nelson
4 – Los Angeles Clippers – PF Scott Channing
5 – Detroit – SF Jim Seymour
6 – Memphis – PG Kenny Costa
7 – Charlotte – C Dexter Floyd
8 – Houston – C Eric Archibald
9 – Boston – SG Lloyd Grundman
10 – Denver – PF Joey Kouser
11 – San Antonio – SG Tony Chase
12 – Memphis – PG Mills Watkins
13 – Milwaukee – PF Darrell Holtz
14 – Washington – C Shea Hines

This looks all wrong from my perpective. Nelson won’t go at 3, Floyd may even go as high as #2 and Kenny Costa will probably not sniff the top 10. Strange. We don’t have a first round pick as I traded it way back in 2012 in the Ray Allen/Antawn Jamison trade which looked pretty good from our end.
