Keeping the Kings in Sacramento!

Keeping the Kings in Sacramento!

Postby LightningStrike5 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 4:52 pm

(Before starting this, I must admit I did some rating changes, so if certain players do better here than in other leagues, that'd be the reason. Didn't make it easy on myself though and Godmod all my players though, haha)

I think the reason why I flubbed so much on previous dynasties is that my writing SO much about everything felt like to much work. THIS dynasty will be shorter, won't be so much writing! Lol, brutusbrutus' dynasty with the Warriors proved that a crisper dynasty can be done without losing a purpose.

I have ONE self-imposed rule - as a life long Kings fan who can see the omnipresent threat of relocation coming into Sacramento - the Kings MUST make the finals in the next five years or I will QUIT and relocate the Kings. If the Kings make the finals, then I get to open a new arena and keep going!

Name: Leo Ridjugi
Age: 28
(Student of the great Geroff Petrie)

Salary Cap - $60,000,000
Hard Cap - $72,000,000 (Bumped up to even numbers)

Arena - Arco Arena - 17,317 strong, 22 years old. Needs replacing bad, but unless we start winning and bringing in huge public support, we won't get it, and most likely will be forced to move (OC: In five years...)

33 Hassan Whiteside C 7-0 227 22 Marshall 0 $740,437
5 Pooh Jeter PG 5-11 175 26 Portland 1 $473,604

Starting Lineup

Beno Udrih PG - A fine backup player, but we really need a better shooter next to Tyreke than Beno.

Tyreke Evans SG – The star of this team, capable of offensive stardom and with good defense and no serious weakness. Can play either PG or SG thanks to decent passing abilities. Not a real solid shooter yet.

Omri Casspi SF – A good shooter and decent defender, but is probably a 6th man at best on a winning team.

Carl Landry PF – Good scorer, not a good rebounder or defender. Probably best as trade bait to help us improve, since he is expiring next year. (OC: Plus, for some reason, Landry always ends up HATING the team when I keep him…)

DeMarcus Cousins C – A great potential big as long as he stays in line and listens to his coaches. Great scoring potential and a dominant rebounder, while a decent at best defender.

Bench Depth Chart

Jason Thompson C – Quality bench player, could be the starting PF if we trade Landry. Not dominant in anything but not really weak in anything.

Samuel Dalembert C – If he was a PF, I’d start him to complement Cousins as he’s a great defender and rebounder. If Cousins struggles, he’ll start.

Donte Greene SF – Better defender than Omri and I’d be more comfortable starting him.

Hassan Whiteside C – Potential to be a dominant defensive force and already a great blocker, probably will go to the d-league for now.

Francisco Garcia SG – A good defender, a good shooter, perfect bench role-player.

Luther Head PG – Borderline scrub who is at the moment the best shooter on the team – sad.

Darnell Jackson PF – Scrub

Antione Wright SF – Scrub

Pooh Jeter – Scrub with a hilarious name.

A coaching staff with no serious skills that probably needs to be shown the door.

Team Needs:
1. Outside shooting - Tyreke and Cousins are both fine scorers, but this team needs outside shooting BAD.

2. A guard to complement Tyreke - (OC: in real life, I argue that putting a pure passer next to Tyreke is a horrid idea, as he is dreadful off ball, but here, a passer PG wouldn't be bad.) He needs to complement Tyreke in every way.

3. Experience - we're a young team that needs veteran presence.

4. A new head coach - (OC: Westphal is underrated in this game IMHO, but I'm sick of him in real life too. We need a winner NOW, and that clearly isn't Westphal. Money is no worry with a coach.

5. Depth - When Luther Head and Darnell Jackson are seriously getting playing time, thats worrisome.

6. More of a future concern - With bigs like Cousins, Thompson and Landry who are all good scorers but not dominant defenders, a PF who can block and defend would be fantastic. Dalembert is getting kind of old, and with Cousins at C he can't play PF. Whiteside is an option, with great blocking potential, but another would be great, especially if Landry goes out the door soon.

Priorities –
1. New Coach
2. Suitable PG/SG to fit well with Tyreke
3. Outside shooting
4. Depth
5. Defensive PF?

With that said, we aren't afraid to dish out picks. We need to win now to stay in Sacramento, and win now we shall. Our picks, however, are in exceptionally high demand, with our recent history of losing and lack of confidence, so we can use that to our advantage.

Season 1 Beginnings

Postby LightningStrike5 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 6:56 pm

We fire Westphal, Eyen and SAR. Elie can stay until a younger and higher potential coach comes along. We hire the best – and most expensive – coach available in Rudy Tomjonavich. Del Harris is expensive for a assistant, but he’s a great coach and real good at player development, and former assistant TR Dunn comes cheaply as our second assistant. Finally, a talented AND experienced coaching line.

Time to get fixing up our roster. I know one guy who would be perfect to fix both our shooting woes and a perfect fit next to Tyreke (OC: And while there is NO way this would happen and I apologize to GS fans, the game agreed and I’m loving it

Trade: Kings/Warriors

Kings Trade:
Carl Landry
Darnell Jackson
Antione Wright
2011 1st
2011-2012 2nds

Warriors Trade:
Stephan Curry
Brandon Wright
2011-2012 2nds

Why for us: Curry is as PERFECT a complement to Tyreke as humanly possible. With great range and fantastic passing ability, he’ll be perfect at both getting Tyreke and Cousins the ball and a great target for a cutting Tyreke to pass too.

Wright is a talented big to play behind Thompson, Dally and Cousins. With Landry gone Thompson will probably get the starting call, but that’s up to coach Rudy. And hell, if our pick this season is that valuable, it’s best to use it wisely!

Tried to call up Washington to see if they would trade us Kirk Hinrich for Beno. I’d rather have Hinrich’s experience than Beno. They said they won’t take Beno and his contract. Looks like we’re stuck with him. They also don’t wanna budge on JaVale McGee, and he looks real nice. Well, I love Kirk’s game, and we’ve got the cap, better use it (and get tons of capspace next season when Dally comes off the books, so…)

Trade: Kings/Wizards

Kings Trade:
Luther Head
Golden State 2012 2nd

Wizards Trade:
Kirk Hinrich

Why for us: Beno has no future on this team and hopefully next year someone will take him off our hands. We needed another PG/SG on this team besides Garcia and Kirk is a veteran who knows how to win.

So, back to adding depth –

Trade: Kings/Rockets

Kings Trade:
Pooh Jeter
2013 2nd
7 mil cap

Rockets Trade:
Shane Battier

Why for us: Battier is the perfect veteran, and expires this year so we aren’t paying next year. A great way to use the rest of our cap.

Knowing full well that Whiteside won’t get any playing time this year, we send him to the D-Leauge.

Knowing full well that we don’t have a pick this year (until Golden States’ second rounder) I won’t even look at the future rookies. Can’t look down, gotta win at all costs.

Sign Omar Samhan and send him to the D-League, primarily good depth if one of our bigs gets hurt (OC: Also I go to SMC and knew Omar, so kinda gotta take him).

The Season Preview Magazine has us finishing 6th in the west!

Predictions:
West Conference

1. Lakers
2. Nuggets
3. Jazz
4. Warriors
5. Mavericks
6. Kings
7. Trailblazers
8. Rockets

Bit concerned, because I think both the Blazers and the unlisted Thunder are superior to us…

East Conference
1. Heat
2. Bulls
3. Celtics
4. Bucks (?!)
5. Hawks
6. Nets (!?)
7. 76ers (?!)
8. Knicks (?!)

What are the Magic doing off this list?! For Christ sakes, they have a MVP candidate in Howard, that should instantly get them by the 76ers or Nets…

Nov. 1 - Kings @ Timberwolves - Win 99-91

Curry has 32 points, six boards and four assists in his debute as Tyreke has 15 points and seven assists. Cousins did great, 15 points 14 boards six assists, while Kevin Love was the only Timberwolf of note with 27/9.

Great way to start the season!

Nov. 3 - Kings @ Heat - Loss 95-86

Miami's tough defense kept us at 33% shooting, especially Tyreke who was just 4 of 18. Cousins was the one bright spot, trashing the weak Miami big line for 28/10.

LeBron had 33/6/6, Wade had 19/6/5, but Miami is gonna suck with depth and they only got 11 points off the bench.

Nov. 4 - Kings @ Magic – Loss 118-109

Ugh, wow. Cousins is a long way from being a finished product defensively. Dwight Howard lit him up for 35 points, 24 boards and six blocks, holding our prized rookie to just 9/10 and 4-14. Tyreke had 22/5/5 but shot just 10 of 29, ridiculously poor. Curry obliterated the Magic guards, getting 30 points and 13 assists.

I don’t understand why Orlando isn’t the 2nd or third best team in the East, along with Miami and Chicago, honestly.

Nov. 6 – Grizzlies @ Kings – Loss 105-101, (2-3)

Damn! Don’t like losing our home opener. Marc Gasol had 23/15 and Rudy Gay had 23 and only two of our guys – JThomp with 32 and eight, and Tyreke with 28/5/5 – had good games.

Nov. 8 – Timberwolves @ Kings – Win 125-80, (3-3)

Ho, what a way to bounce back! Sammy D of all people leads the way with 22/12/3 with Cousins in foul trouble, while Curry has 23/6 and Tyreke 21/4/4. We shoot a ridunkulous 61% and hold Minny to 33%, with Kevin Love – again – the only Wolf to do anything with 18/10.

Nov. 10 – Warriors @ Kings – Win 121-95, (4-3)

Curry dominated his former team, dropping 23/9/6 with 3 steals, and we shoot 56% on the Warriors. Monte Ellis has 19 points and Reggie Williams, who starts for them at PG, had 13/6 with 6 turnovers. Miss having a real PG?

(Somehow at 4-3 we’re #1 in the PR. Which is beyond me since the Heat are 6-0….)

Nov. 22 – Kings @ Hornets – Win 105-96, (10-3)

A win over a 7-3 Hornets team propels us to a astounding 10-3. Tyreke and Curry are already one of the best guard combos in the league, combining for 55/15/10, while Chris Paul drops 20/16 assists.

Nov. 24 – Trailblazers @ Kings – Loss 101-77, (10-4)

The Blazers, top of the west come in and hold us to 32% shooting while Brandon Roy drops 41/4/4 on us. None of players has a good game.

Nov. 26 – Kings @ Lakers – Loss 111-86, (10-5)

Back to back losses against the best in the west bring us back to Earth as, twice in a row, no one plays well. Tyreke goes 1-10 for three points, Curry has just 11 and 5 and Battier leads us with 22. Kobe and company demolish us with experience.

Nov. 29 – Nets @ Kings – Win 97-85, (11-6)

Good win to stop our three game skid and help us escape November on a high note. Tyreke, who has been ineffective and hampered by foul trouble, has 22/5/5.

Notable December contests –

Dec. 1 – Kings @ Jazz – Win 105-92, (12-6)

Great win to start the month, and more importantly, Tyreke lights up for 33/5/5/2.

Dec. 9– Jazz @ Kings – Win 91-74, (13-7)

Strong defensive effort (aside from Deron Williams, who has 33/11) leads us to a win with Battier getting 24/5. Two wins against a top team in the west is wonderful.

Dec. 12– Lakers @ Kings – Win 116-111, (15-7)

A win over the rival Lakers is just what this team needed! Tyreke duels Kobe to a standstill, dropping 33/4/4 while Bryant had 28 with 8 assists. Curry had 18 and 10 assists, and Jason Thompson had 17/10. Andrew Bynum had 23 and 11 for the Lakers and the key difference was our 8/16 3PM.

Dec. 12– Kings @ Lakers – Win 117-106, (16-7)

Back to back wins over the champs! Tyreke again lights up Kobe for 32/4/3, while Bryant leads the Lakers with 20 and 6 steals. We outrebounded them by 49/35, with Cousins and Thompson each getting 14.

Dec. 12– Lakers @ Kings – Win 116-111, (17-7)

Dec. 22– Kings @ Hornets – Loss 103-75, (18-10)

Our third straight road loss to a decent Hornets team, but Chris Paul drops a triple-double on us with 18/12/10. Tyreke however has a great night of 28/4/3.

Dec. 25– Kings @ Spurs – Win, 97-82 (19-10)

Celebrating Christmas by breaking our loosing streak! Curry[/]b had 13/10, but Dally comes off the bench for 12/17/3! We hold the Spurs to just 38%.

Brandon Wright, coming in off the bench, wants at least $3,500,000 at four years. We’re not paying that much for a benchy, so contract talks go nowhere.

Dec. 31 – Celtics @ Kings – Win, 102-82 (21-10)

End the season with a win over a veteran Celtics squad! Rajon Rondo keeps Curry limited to 5/5, but Tyreke compensates with 26 and 5 assists as we hold the Cs to 35% shooting.

Kinda a cheap shot to call him most disappointing, since he’s mainly our defensive leader and not a scorer, but 39% FG isn’t that hot. Tyreke has improved dramatically, so I suppose Shane has to take this mantel for now.

Season One January

Postby LightningStrike5 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 3:00 am

Woot! Sorry for the delay (although I am the only one reading, I spose). Finals work done for the day, I need a break!

Notable January contests –

Jan. 9 – Kings @ Bulls – Win 121-111, (24-12)

Tyreke and Curry each drop 27 with Curry getting 9 assists for a road victory over the 3rd best in the East. Derrick Rose has 20/13 and Carlos Boozer drops 31/10, but with six players in double figures, including former Bull Kirk Hinrich with 14/7 off the bench, we hold on.

One bad thing comes out of the Bulls game – my increasing lack of confidence in Jason Thompson, who is averaging just 8/8 on 40% shooting. I have no desire to trade him, but we need a better PF if we’re gonna be serious contenders.

I called up Atlanta to ask on the availability of Josh Smith, who is currently getting 12/8 with 2.7 blocks and great defense. They need Jason Thompson back, and won’t accept Dally, Wright and a first. Put that on the backburner and revisit it later.

Ironically, Chicago is eager to trade Carlos Boozer, but he’s all offense and no defense, so no bite.

Milwaukee seems interested in blowing it up somewhat - Andrew Bogut is on the block - but they won’t bite without JThompson either.

Then I call up San Antonio.

The Spurs are just 15-18 at this point and struggling to compete in a younger league. Tim Duncan is impressive as ever, with 14/12.5 boards and 1.8 blocks. Well, if we can’t get the perfect complement to Cousins in Josh Smith… maybe an esteemed veteran?

Trade: Kings/Spurs

Kings Trade:
Samuel Dallembert
Francisco Garcia

Spurs Trade:
Tim Duncan

Why for us: Yes, he’s 34. Yes, he’s getting paid 18 mil this year and 21 next. And yes, this isn’t a permanent fix. But hell… it’s Tim Duncan, and he’s gonna be great next to Cousins. This actually, instantly makes us into (I believe) a contender now, dispite our youth.

With Wright severely pissed over a .5 mil disagreement and a lack of playing time, I need to find his exit as well.

Trade: Kings/Thunder

Kings Trade:
Brandon Wright

Thunder Trade:
Cole Aldrich

Why for us: With Wright surely gone, I didn’t expect this sort of value, but Cole instantly makes us SO deep at bigs – Duncan, Thompson, Cousins, Cole, Whiteside – it almost hurts.

We need to sign SOMEONE to fill up our spot with Whiteside and Samhan in the DLeauge – and we need a SG. So we call up Allen Iverson and he agrees to join our new and improved championship chaser.

Jan. 12– Heat @ Kings – Loss 120-113, (24-13)

Ouch. Was hoping a resounding win would catapult us to contendership, but LeBron has 35/5/4 and Chris Bosh drops 25/10 on Duncan who struggles in his first game and only gets 12/7. Curry had 25/6 and Evans 33/5 but it was no go as Miami shot 50%.

Jan. 15 – Mavericks @ Kings – Win 110-99, (25-13)

The Mavericks are top in the west and a good win over them is almost as good a win over Miami. Tyreke has a NBA high 39 points, tearing up the Mavs defense, while Duncan gets 15/10. The Mavs starting five struggles and they’re lead by Shawn Marrion off the bench with 18/7.

Jan. 17– Magic @ Kings – Loss (25-14)
Orlando bested us again as Howard lit up for 27/16/4. Duncan had 25/10, Curry[/]b had 19/10, but to lose by a POINT just is too much.

Jan. 17– Kings @ Warriors – Loss 109-93, (25-15)

So we’re 2-3 since the trade, including a road loss to the .500 Warriors, who still don’t realize that playing a SF named Reggie Williams is a bad idea (he had 20 points and six assists but six turnovers) – the real killer was David Lee[/] who lit up Duncan for 28/12. Tyreke lead us with 26/5/3.

Jan. 27– Kings @ Bucks – Loss 102-93 (27-17)

Screw me for thinking that adding interior defensive minded players would help our interior defense. Seems every game now the big man opposing Cousins/TD lights them up. Tonight it’s Andrew Bogut, who unleashes 24/17/4 on us and brings us to 3-5 since the trade.

Our team is getting edgy, and Kirk Hinrich tells the Bee’s sideline reporter that he is unhappy with his bench role and expects more playing time. I tell the Bee writer that playing time is earned, not given, which earns {b]Kirk’s ire but pleases the rest of the lockeroom.

A ESPN affiliate apparently working on a rookies story asks me about the poor play of Cole Aldrich. I mean, Cole went from a starting role in Oklahoma City to a bench role here and if he’s struggling a bit, that’s expected, and I told the writer that, and Cole came afterwards to thank me.

Too much drama. This team needs to start wining again.

Jan. 28 – Kings @ Raptors – Win, 114-94 (28-17)

A win to get back on track (hopefully) over the pitiful Raptors on our one trip to Canada this season. Curry rips the Raptors’ defense with 37/12, and Duncan has 22/12. Raptors are playing just a bunch of scrubs, though, so I’m not overly hyped.

Apparently, after our win however… Kirk and AI got in a pushing match. This is not acceptable behavior and I call them both up to tell them. Kirk at first argued, even saying he’d fight me, before he calmed down. He’s on a real short leash for a guy I’d paid so much to get. AI was immediately apologetic, but when I talked to the rest of the team, they blamed him more… if this happens again, one of them has to be shown the door.

Jan. 31 – Kings @ Celtics – Win, 101-72 (30-17)

Tyreke leads the way with 20/6/4 and we hold the Cs to just 34% shooting, but problems arise again… Kirk and AI are still fighting.

I talk with some of their teammates. While Kirk is very upset and lashes out when I tell him to stop fighting, his teammates agree it’s AI’s fault. Ultimatum time. Coach Rudy nor I are willing to let this ruin our lockeroom, especially when we should be moving into contender status.

I call Kirk first. I tell him with his recent media outburst and his fighting, if I catch him again messing up, he’s out. I think he’s gonna explode, but he is rather apologetic, although he does admit he thinks I’m being overly harsh.

Iverson doesn’t feel that way. He tries to tell me off, tells me I don’t have the guts to cut him, and I immediately pull out his pink slip. Doesn’t even get a ride back with us, he can stay in Boston for all I care.

We sign Earl Watson to replace him. Hopefully, this end to January won’t carry over to February.
