Keeping the Kings in Sacramento!

FWIW, it also takes a few games for the team chemistry to re-sort itself out after trades, so the 2-3 isn't surprising.

Early February Contests/All Star Weekend –

Feb. 2 – Bulls @ Kings – Win 100-85, (31-17)

We get our second win of the season over a talented Bulls squad. Tyreke leads the way with 29 and 4 boards, but no one else plays exceptionally well. Curry, TD and Cousins all have sup-par games but it was our defense – holding the Bulls to 42% shooting and Derrick Rose in general to 22/6 – that won it. Donte Greene has 15 and 5 blocks off the bench for us – best sxth man we could ask for.

Injury front, Cousins suffers a strained bicep and may be out a game or two.

Feb. 6 – Kings @ Suns – Win 117-93, (33-17)

A great road win over a slightly below .500 division rival. Tyreke rolls for 22/6/6, while Cousin shows no sign of injury with 14/14. Duncan and battier each notch 21, while Thompson comes off the bench for 16/8. Jason Richardson is the lone bright spot for the Suns with 26.

Feb. 10 – Jazz @ Kings – Win 105-98, (34-17)

A victory over the Northwest division leading Jazz is another welcome sight, with Curry outdueling Deron WilliamsCurry had 32 points, 8 assists and 6 boards, while Williams had 23 points and 13 assists. The Jazz big combo of Paul Milsap and Al Jefferson combined for 45 and 32 boards, but I hear rumors that the pair argue constantly and Jefferson wants out.

Feb. 14 – Kings @ Mavs – Win 120-103 (36-17)

Ninth straight win! We’re really on a roll now. Duncan quieted Dirk, holdinh him to just 15 points while getting 24/11/3 of his own. Curry and Tyreke chipped in 24 and 22, respectively.

Feb. 15– Kings @ Rockets – Loss 113-93, (36-18)

Well, there goes that. We lose to (another) mediocre team. Yao Ming had 26/10/5 on Cousins and Aaron Brooks had 26 and 16 assists, a new career high. Tyreke led us with 26.

I get another disturbing call, but this one is worse. Duncan and Battier apparently had a loud argument. That came out of left field. I talk to most of the players, and they don’t have any problems with either of them. Duncan apologizes and says he’ll try to control his emotions. Battier is less receptive but eventually agrees. I’d hate to lose either of them, hope this is the only time I have to do this.

Luckily, it’s the All-Star Break! Time to relax and take an overview of the team.

Ronnie Brewer of the Bulls wins the Dunk Contest. No one of interest competes. Woo-hoo.

Stephan Curry gets to the second round of the 3P Shooting contest but loses from there to Daniel Gibson.
Four Kings – Tyreke Evans, Stephan Curry, DeMarcus Cousins, and Cole Aldrich – all participate in the Rookie v. Sophomore challenge.

Freshmen starters – John Wall, Xavier Henry, Al-Farouq Aminu, Tiago Splitter, DeMarcus Couisns – all deserving, but the lack of Evan Turner – who is averaging 17/3/5 and is uninjured – is ridiculous. Nice to see DeMarcus getting recognized.

Sophomore starters – Stephan Curry, Tyreke Evans, Reggie Williams, Blake Griffin, David Anderson – boy, did this class lack for talented non-Blake Griffin bigs. Speaking of Blake, boy is this kid incredible. 15/8 in his first actual season and got talent out the ears. MVP in a few seasons.

The Sophomores roll over the Freshmen despite the big disadvantage, thanks mainly to our two guards – Curry has 22/8 and Tyreke wins MVP for the second year in a row with 43/4/4. John Wall has 35/11 and Cousins has 17/11.

Two Kings – Tyreke and Duncan – participate in the All Star Game.

East starters – Mo Williams (Over Rondo?!), Dwayne Wade, Danny Granger (LeBron is hurt[/b]), Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard.

West starters – Christ Paul, Tyreke Evans (A great honor, but I’d have gone for Deron Williams), Carmelo Anthony, Pau Gasol, and Yao Ming.

The West wins – barely – 158-157. Carmelo wins MVP with 43, while Tyreke gets 6 (was just 2-15) and Duncan only plays 4 minutes. Mo Will of all people leads the East with 30/12 assists.

(OC – Ok, someone explain Reggie Williams to me. I live in San Francisco. The guy isn’t 3 stars in any book, nor should he EVER be on the All Star team. He’s a career benchy, IMHO probably the most overrated player in the game haha.)

Late February/March Contests –

Feb. 22 – Kings @ Grizzlies – Win 130-80, (38-18)

Hah. No matter who it’s against, a 50 point win is nice. Tim Duncan has 28/10 and Curry duels it out with Mike Conley, with Curry getting 16/13 and Conley getting 22/8. We shot 58% overall and held the Grizzlies to 38%.

March 3 – Kings @ Jazz – Win 106-93, (43-18)

Season sweep of the division leading Jazz! Tyreke with 29/5/5 and Currywith 16/10. The Jazz big line remains intact dispite problems between Al Jeff and Paul Mislap. Deron Williams had 23/12 but needs his boys to stop fighting.

Holy cow… six days off.

March 11 – Nuggets @ Kings – Win 105-98, (45-18)

Curry is simply amazing. He is the most consistent shooter (note, 9-15 tonight, 27 points, 7 assists and 7 boards) shooter and to have a +.50% while a GUARD and a SOPHOMORE – is incredible. Although he had 9 turnovers tonight, which is poor.

Three Nuggets have more than 20, but we outrebound them 53/35.

March 16 – Cavaliers @ Kings – Win 96-74 (47-18)

Holy cow, are we consistant. 23-5 since the Duncan deal. Tyreke has 35/6/5 and FIVE steals – damn, boy can fill up the statsheet – and our chemistry looks great as we hold the hapless Cavs to 34% shooting.

March 20– Kings @ Hawks – Win 126-89, (49-18)

We are on an incredible roll. This is almost scaring me how good we’ve become in a season. Tyreke with 28 points, Greene off the bench with 17 points and Kirk fills in for a foul-troubled Curry with 14/12 assists.

March 25 – Kings @ 76ers – Win 118-115, (52-18)

28-5 since the trade… we barely escape a mediocre 76ers team. Duncan had 28/8/5 blocks, Tyreke and Curry each have 25, but Louis Williams goes off for 40 points and 8 assists.

March 30 – Kings @ Grizzlies – Win 120-88, (53-18)

Month ending win with six players – led by Tyreke’s 24/5 and Thompson’s 23/10 off the bench. We TRASH the Griz, shooting 58% percent and keeping them at 38%. Look out, everyone. We are serious, complete and ACTUAL contenders – with three starters younger than 22.

I'm in the finals crunch, so I don't have time to update for a while, but I'll get back to this over break!

April Pre-Playoff Contests –

April 1 – Suns @ Kings – Win 91-89 (54-18)

Steve Nash showed Curry how to play, getting 28/12 assists and keeping the Suns in it late. But Tyreke had 25/6/6, including the final jumper that sealed the win. Curry had 17 and eight assists, and we won a defensive battle despite shooting 40%.

April 3 – Hornets @ Kings – Win 123-91, (55-18)

Tyreke leads a fantastic effort with 30 points and seven boards, with Curry getting 19 and eight assists. Paul led the Hornets with 21/10/5 but wins like this make me think we could actually get somewhere this year.

April 4 – Kings @ Warriors – Win 106-80, (56-18)

Curry dominates his former team with 16 points and 12 assists, while Tyreke gets 26 and five assists. Reggie Williams led the Warriors with 31 points but the boys of Golden State aren’t going anywhere for a while.

April 8 – Warriors @ Kings – Win 112-102, (57-18)

Another dominating win over our bay-area rivals. Curry has 26 points, 9 assists and four steals, with Tyreke notching 26 as well, David Lee had 26/11 and the Warriors shoot 53%, but we still win thanks to 25 free throws.

April 11 – Lakers @ Kings – Win 116-94 (59-18)

Tyreke severely wipes the floor with Kobe, scoring 25/6 and holding Kobe to just 15 points as the former champs can’t get it going, shooting 41%. Curry ads 20/5, and Duncan 20/12. A fantastic win over a veteran proven team.

April 14 – Kings @ Clippers – Win 1101-68, (61-18)

Duncan leads the way with 21/10, but the greatest strength is our defense, as we hold the Clippers to 31% shooting overall. I mean, it’s the Clippers, but still!

April 17 – Kings @ Spurs – Loss 103-89, (61-20)

We end the season with two losses to the Nuggets and Spurs. In his first game against his old team, Duncan had 21/12, but we struggle to defend in our final two contests.

[b[Tyreke[/b] may have been the scoring leader and his line is impressive, but Curry had the top FG%, is our floor general and ran the top offense in the league beautifully.

Most Disapointing -

Again, it’s just the competition. It’s cocky, I know, but we’re ecstatic and ready. Put your dukes up, west, we’re gunning for the Finals!

We lost only FIVE games after getting Duncan. Getting him was a surprise, but going so dominantly? Come on.

DeMarcus is probably gonna be third in ROY voting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens with the big fella in the future. Cole could be a potential PF starter, fitting in well next to DCuz.

Top dog in the west, missed out on top record by two games, and facing the…. WARRIORS IN THE FIRST ROUND. HOW ABOUT THAT IRONY?

My expectations – honestly, I’d love to play the Lakers in the second round. Both Denver and Portland have wins on us, but I’m expecting to get out of the West. The East… Miami, Chicago and Orlando (4 – lower than I expected!) could all make it out, but I’m expecting Miami to win it all.

My Expected Award Winners –
MVP: Dwight Howard
Defensive Player of the Year: Dwight Howard
COY: Rudy Tomjanavich
ROY: John Wall

Howard has to win it. He just has too. Defensive POY too. If Coach T doesn’t win COY, there isn’t justice, we did so much better than anyone (me included) expected. Wall is the best rookie and should win ROY.

2010 Playoffs – Round 1

(1) Kings v. (8) Warriors

Predictions –

PG: Stephan Curry v. Reggie Williams

Williams averaged 17/5 but is as much a PG as my grandmother. Curry averaged 17/7.5/2 steals and ran the best offense in the league. Wonder who I’m taking.

Advantage: Kings

SG: Tyreke Evans v. Antione Wright

Ellis is out for over 100 days with a torn ACL. And a former benchy who we ditched in the Curry deal is their starting big via a dominant young scorer. This one won’t be close, Tyreke will eat him alive.

Advantage: Kings

SF: Shane Battier v. Dorrell Wright

Wright isn’t a bad role player with 10 PPG, but Shane gets that and lock down defense.

Advantage: Kings

PF: Tim Duncan v. David Lee

Closest of the matchup. Lee averaged 17/8 and Duncan got 14/11, but the difference is experience (Duncan) and defense (Duncan). Hopefully Duncan can stop him.

Advantage: Kings

C: DeMarcus Cousins v. Andris Beadrins

Cousins will dominate in a few years, but this right now is Beadrins is having a career year with 10/10/2.5 blocks.

Advantage: Warriors

Bench:
Greene, Omri, Thompson, Cole and Daniels v. Udoh, Landry and…. Crap. Wow. No wonder Antione is starting.

Advantage: Kings

Final Prediction: Kings in 4

Tyreke is going to run over Wright and we’re just far to much for the Warriors.

April 21 – Warriors @ Kings – Win 102-82 (1-0)

Curry drops 22/12 on his former team in the opener as we blast through the lowly Ws easily. Lee leads them with 22/11 but we hold the Warriors to just 38% shooting. Tyreke has 24.

April 22 – Warriors @ Kings – Win 123-91, (2-0)

Tyreke leads a fantastic effort with 30 points and six boards, with Curry chipping in 20/9 assists. Duncan gets 15 with 15 boards and SIX blocks.

April 24 – Kings @ Warriors – Win 101-80, (3-0)

Without Monta the Warriors can’t score at all, and Tyreke cripples them with 26/5/5 and Duncan dominates down low with 16/12 boards and four blocks.

April 25 – Kings @ Warriors – Win 112-102, (4-0)

Sweep of the Warriors! Duncan and Battier lead our youngsters, each scoring 26, while Curry gets 16 points and 13 assists. The Warriors really need to find a second scorer to Monta (hint, mighta wanted to keep Curry) because Lee just CHOKED.

Holy cow!

Down goes Miami!

Down goes Orlano!

What the hell just happened to the EAST?!

Meanwhile, the former Champion Lakers go down swinging in five to the Mavericks, scary as heck team to face in the second round.

My God, Duncan is just SO dominant defensively. Aside from his 22 point game in the opener, Lee averaged just 9.5 points on Duncan. That’s amazing. Whats more amazing is Dwight Mother-Fer Howard. Look at those numbers and drool. Too bad he got beat so easily…
