Coaching the Pros

Vs. Cleveland: 118-105 L
@ Chicago: 116-99 W
@ Orlando: 113-109 W
Vs. Chicago: 104-95 W
Vs. Atlanta: 96-87 L
@ Atlanta: 137-106 L

It was nice to see us beat Chicago twice and beat Orlando on their home floor, but to drop two to Atlanta, especially when their lineup includes Bibby/Crawford/Afflalo, that kind of hurts.

Craig Smith and Kyle Korver have been fighting. Which kind of sucks, since they are both scrubs. I'll tell them to cool it though. Smith takes it well but Korver fights back a few times before he shuts up and accepts.

Luke Ridnour has been hampered a bit with a sprained ankle but he's playing okay.

Vs. Detroit: 124-95 W
@ Toronto: 95-83 L

Toronto gets their revenge for taking away their superstar Chris Bosh. What's worst about this loss is that they are starting Luke Babbitt at center. We really lost to a team like that?

Vs. Lakers: 113-103 L
@ Clippers: 122-110 W
@ Sacramento: 112-105 W
@ Portland: 102-81 L
@ Golden State: 122-101 L

Monta Ellis started at SF in that last game, and Reggie Williams started at PG. Seriously? Come on Keith Smart... be Smart. Although it seemed to work out since Ellis scored 43 points on only 24 shot attempts. Steph Curry tore his ACL and is out for the year though, which has to hurt.

NOVEMBER EVALUATIONS
9-7, 3rd in the Atlantic and 6th in the East

Bosh: 19 ppg, 12 rpg, 44% shooting. I'd like it if he could be a bit more accurate, but he's carrying this team so far.

Lee: 18 ppg, 9 rpg, 4 apg, 49% shooting. A little more consistent and well rounded than Bosh. Makes a good tandem underneath.

Gallinari: 14 ppg, 1.4 spg, 39.8% shooting. Seriously Gallinari? Two out of every three shots you take is a three, that's unacceptable.

Chandler: 13.4 ppg, 4 rpg, 42%. The shooting isn't terrible, but could be improved.

Henry: 12 ppg, 43.4%. He's shooting 47% from downtown, which is a definite plus.

Ridnour: 10.8 ppg, 6.1 apg, 1.4 topg. That's a 4.4 A/TO ratio which makes me very happy. He's also connecting 43% of the time which is good enough for a point guard.

Brown: 6.9 ppg, 51%. The fact that he's shooting such a high percentage makes me very happy to have him as a backup.

Livingston: 2.3 apg, 3.1 A/TO ratio. He's also shooting 58%. Fantastic backup PG. With his intelligence so high, it makes me wonder how he'd do as a starting PG.

Smith: 3.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 44%. My big men just like to shoot poor percentages I guess.

Curry: 3.3 ppg, 1 rpg, 60%. Curry is nothing more than a big body. He shoots a high percentage cause he knows only to dunk or lay it in. I'd like him more if he could rebound better, only 6 rebounds per 36.

Vs. Washington: 127-107 W
Vs. Utah: 110-100 W
@ Boston: 108-87 L
Vs. Philadelphia: 108-90 L
Vs. Toronto: 109-95 W
@ Milwaukee: 104-102 L
@ Toronto: 120-109 W
Vs. Portland: 119-113 L

And so we waste a 35 point game from Xavier Henry, by far his best yet.

Vs. Memphis: 114-98 W
Vs. Orlando: 91-83 W
Vs. Houston: 116-107 W
@ Chicago: 119-112 W
Vs. Charlotte: 120-109 L
@ Charlotte: 94-81 L

Ending the month by dropping two straight to Charlotte sucks, but they are running away with the Southeast division.

DECEMBER EVALUATIONS
17-13, 3rd in the Atlantic, 7th in the East

New Jersey (25-6), Boston (20-9), Charlotte (20-11) and Cleveland (17-11) are the top four in the conference with Orlando (17-11), Chicago (17-11), us and Atlanta (16-13) also in the playoffs as of right now.

Over in the West, it's the Lakers (23-5) who lead the conference, followed by Portland (23-9), New Orleans (20-10), OKC (18-13), San Antonio (15-11), Denver (17-13), the Clippers (16-13), Utah (15-14), Minnesota (16-15) and Dallas (15-15).

Interesting to note: New Jersey is destroying despite only signing Wade this offseason. Looks like they didn't need the 2nd superstar that they usually sign. Also, Miami is 3-27, Detroit is 5-24, Toronto is 6-24, and Washington is 6-22. A lot of futility in the East.

Bosh: 20.1 ppg, 12.4 rpg, 47.6%. His shooting is much improved. He could stand to post up more, but he's doing great.

Lee: 17.8 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.4 spg, 47.2%. He's still the most well-rounded player on this team. He's also shooting too many jumpers.

Gallinari: 14.2 ppg, 41.6%. His shot selection was gotten better, but mostly he's been making his shots.

Chandler: 13.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 44.3%. Improved percentages are the order across the board. This makes me really happy.

Henry: 12.9 ppg, 47.5%, 49.3% from 3. His shooting from downtown is what makes him so valuable. He really stretches the defense when he's out there.

Ridnour: 10.9 ppg, 5.9 apg, 1.8 topg. His A/TO ratio has dipped to 3.3, but that's still good enough for me. His shooting has also shot up to 46.8%.

Brown: 6.5 ppg, 49.4%. His shooting has dipped a bit but he's still a valuable piece to this team.

Smith: 3.9 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 51.1%. His shooting percentage has gone way up.

Livingston: 3 ppg, 2.1 apg, 2.8 A/TO ratio. Livingston is still doing everything I want my backup PG to do, namely, not turn over the ball.

Curry: 2.6 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 59.6%. His rebound rate has gone up to 7.2 per 36 minutes. Curry will be a career backup.

Vs. Milwaukee: 125-108 W
@ Cleveland: 108-100 W
Vs. Atlanta: 121-108 W
@ Orlando: 108-84 W
Vs. Sacramento: 104-97 L
Vs. Dallas: 114-109 W
@ Indiana: 103-93 L
Vs. Minnesota: 101-92 W
@ New Jersey: 120-116 W
Vs. OKC: 104-96 L
Vs. New Jersey: 102-94 L

Splitting with New Jersey sucks after we beat them in the first game, at their house. It's good that we're winning games but we've shown a bit of inconsistency which isn't good. Then again, this team hasn't been together long.

@ San Antonio: 114-99 L
@ New Orleans: 101-88 W
@ Dallas: 107-81 L

Bosh grabbed 25 rebounds in the win over New Orleans.

@ Minnesota: 111-98 L
Vs. Toronto: 124-96 W

Chris Bosh has been killing it since the new year, including a 20/20 game, plenty of 15+ rebound games, and plenty of 25+ point games.

JANUARY EVALUATIONS
26-20, 3rd in the Atlantic, 6th in the East

New Jersey still leads the way at 36-11, with Boston (30-14), Chicago (27-19), Orlando (25-19), Charlotte (26-20), us, Cleveland (24-20), Milwaukee (24-22) and Atlanta (23-22) behind.

Out West, the Lakers still lead the charge at 35-10, trailed by Portland (33-13), New Orleans (29-15), San Antonio (25-17), Utah (26-18), Denver (26-20), Dallas (25-20), and OKC (25-20).

Of the Terrible 4 (Washington, Toronto, Detroit, Miami), only Detroit and Miami are still stuck in single digit wins with 6 each.

Bosh: 20.4 ppg, 13.2 rpg, 1.5 bpg, 46.2%. His shooting has dipped a little but he's really stuffing the stat sheets.

Lee: 16.8 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.2 spg, 47.2%. Despite Lee still being a bit more of a well-rounded player, he has solidly placed himself behind Bosh in terms of who's leading this team.

Gallinari: 15.3 ppg, 1.2 spg, 44.3%. He's scoring at a great rate and makes a good wing scorer to complement my beasts down low.

Chandler: 13.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 44.9%. Chandler isn't hitting from downtown but he's still scoring.

Henry: 12.7 ppg, 47.2%, 47.7% from 3. Henry is a sparkplug scorer who plays good defense.

Ridnour: 11.3 ppg, 5.8 apg, 3.2 A/TO, 47.5%. Ridnour's shooting is way up, he's passing well, I mean, I have 6 players scoring in double figures. This team is well balanced.

Brown: 6.2 ppg, 49%. Brown is really challenging Henry for 6th man role.

Smith: 3.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 50.4%. His only problem is he cant stay healthy.

Livingston: 3 ppg, 2.1 apg, 2.9 A/TO, 46.6%. Still a boss of a backup PG.

Curry: 2.4 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 55.8%. If only Curry had some post moves, maybe I could give him some more minutes.

@ Miami: 99-86 W
Vs. New Orleans: 116-110 W

No Knicks participated in the Slam Dunk Contest, but Xavier Henry got in the 3 Point Shootout. Unfortunately, he was knocked out in the first round.

Henry fared not much better in the Rookie vs. Sophomre game, only putting up 5 points in 13 minutes. However, the Rookies beat down the Sophomores, 139-122, with Evan Turner, John Wall and Ricky Rubio combining to shoot 32/42 and score 70 points. Talk about domination.

The East beat out the West 142-139. Bosh started at PF but only played 9 minutes due to foul trouble (seriously? Who calls fouls in the All-Star Game) and actually ended up fouling out. In his 9 minutes, he scored 4 points and grabbed two rebounds. The player who took Bosh's minutes was none other than David Lee, who came off the bench to score 12 points and grab 5 rebounds. Danny Granger got the MVP, with 24 points, 3 blocks and 2 steals, but Derrick Rose is worth an honorable mention with 22 points, 10 assists, and a steal.

@ Houston: 118-99 L
@ Memphis: 102-92 L
Vs. Washington: 117-83 W

TRADE ANALYSIS:

Bulls trade: 2011 1st Round Pick
Nets trade: Yi Jianlian

Analysis: The Bulls had struck out over the offseason in getting a big man, and had very little post depth. This gives the Bulls a legit backup to Taj Gibson at PF. The Nets had little use for Yi, as they had Drew Gooden and Tyrus Thomas ahead of him.

Winner: Both teams. The Nets got a mid 20s pick and the Bulls addressed a need. Neither team gave up too much.

Thunder trade: 2011 1st Round Pick
Nets trade: DeMarcus Cousins

Analysis: Either the Nets know this is a really deep draft or they have a fetish for mid-to-low 1st rounders. Granted, Cousins was blocked by Gooden and Brook Lopez, but he has the potential to be far better than both. You won't get a player of Cousins' caliber that late in the draft.

Winner: Thunder.

Clippers trade: 2011 1st Round Pick
Pistons trade: Cole Aldrich

Analysis: Um, not sure why either team made this deal. Pistons definitely needed Aldrich in their paint, the Clippers have a logjam at center (Jordan, Kaman, Mozgov). However, Aldrich is much better than the likely 14th pick of this upcoming draft.

Winner: Clippers.

Hornets trade: Julian Wright, Morris Peterson
Pacers trade: TJ Ford

Analysis: The Hornets are now left with 4 PGs and only 1 SG (Julius Hodge), and the Pacers are now left with 1 PG and 7 wing players. Tell me why this makes sense?

Winner: Nobody.

Nets trade: Kris Humphries, 2011 1st Round Pick (NJ)
76ers trade: Andre Iguodala

Analysis: Jeez, if Walsh knew Iguodala could have been had so cheaply we should have pursued him. Humphries is a mediocre backup center that the Nets didn't really need, and the 1st round pick is likely somewhere between 28-30. The Nets have two 1st rounders from the Bulls and Thunder, so they won't miss it. The 76ers give up their best player.

Winner: The Nets. They just got a whole lot better for practically nothing.

This beatdown came at a price though. Wilson Chandler broke his arm and is out for a month and a half. If we're lucky, he makes it back in time for the playoffs.

@ Lakers: 128-109 W

Wow! We beat the Thunder and the Lakers on the road without Chandler. That's surprising. Lee gets a bruised thigh in this game, so we'll see how he can do in a road game vs. Denver.

@ Denver: 93-89 W

The thigh is clearly affecting him as he could only play 21 minutes, but it doesn't matter as we keep our win streak going!

@ Philadelphia: 93-81 W
Vs. Orlando: 109-87 L
Vs. Detroit: 127-117 W
@ Detroit: 105-95 L

MARCH EVALUATIONS
43-29, 3rd in the Atlantic, 4th in the East

New Jersey (49-25)
Boston (45-26)
Orlando (46-27)
New York (43-29)
Cleveland (40-32)
Charlotte (40-33)
Milwaukee (40-34)
Chicago (39-34)
Indiana (39-35)

It's a tight race pretty much everywhere. No one is all that safe here.

Portland (53-19)
Lakers (53-21)
Denver (48-26)
New Orleans (45-27)
Dallas (43-29)
San Antonio (40-31)
Utah (39-34)
OKC (38-35)

These teams are all pretty secure although the Kings lurk 3 games back of the Thunder.

Bosh: 21.2 ppg, 13.3 rpg, 1.5 bpg, 47.9%. Continues to shoulder the burden of carrying this team, especially with Lee hurt and Chandler out.

Lee: 16.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 3.8 apg, 47.2%. He's been slowed down by his injury but is definitely still holding his own.

Gallinari: 15.2 ppg, 45.1%. His scoring continues to increase and he becomes more efficient, especially now that Chandler is gone.

Henry: 12.5 ppg, 46.9%, 44.2% from 3. His percentages have gone down a bit, which is to be expected with more minutes, but he's still shooting well.

Chandler: 12.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 44.4%. It's now looking more and more like he won't be available until late in the playoffs, if at all.

Ridnour: 11.2 ppg, 5.9 apg, 3.2 A/TO, 48.9%. The fact that he's making almost half his shots is astounding. Quite the offensive PG for us.

Brown: 6.7 ppg, 48.8%, 45.4% from 3. Unfortunately, in the 11 games since he got more minutes, he's only broken double digits four times.

Smith: 4.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 53.3%. A highly efficient backup.

Livingston: 3.5 ppg, 2.5 apg, 45.4%. Another efficient backup.

Curry: 2.8 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 57.6%. Due to Lee's injury I upped Curry's minutes. His numbers don't really improve much.

With 10 games left, we have some light fare (Miami, Philadelphia) and some tough games (New Jersey, Boston, Cleveland). If we can finish the season strong and stay in the top 5 in the East, I'll be pleased.

Interesting notes on Wall and Cousins. Wall only played 49 games in the NBA, as he spent most of the season down in the D-League. Cousins tore his knee tendon at the end of the season and will be out for an entire year, so he's lost next season. Hopefully that isn't career-ruining.

We're dealt the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, a team we had some troubles with in the regular season, as they took 3 out of the 4 regular season games. What is also hurting us is the loss of Chandler.

Yahoo! Sports put out their annual playoff matchup articles, let's see what they have to say.

Point Guard
Luke Ridnour vs. Mo Williams
Ridnour turned out to be a pleasant surprise, taking care of the ball well and shooting at a very high clip. His lack of defense is a bit concerning, but offensively he's been quite steady.

Williams is almost the same as Ridnour: a good outside shooter who can handle the ball, but has suspect defense. Williams is a better shooter and a ball handler though.

Advantage: Cavaliers

Shooting Guard
Xavier Henry vs. Delonte West
Henry was thrust into the starter's role when Chandler went down with a broken arm. He has been a catalyst offensively, knocking down shot after shot and has had quite a few big games this year.

West is a defensive guard, who can hit the occasional jumper but prefers to drive to the basket. West will be counted on to slow down Henry, but offensively he will likely be a non-factor.

Advantage: Knicks

Small Forward
Danilo Gallinari vs. LeBron James
Gallinari is a good outside shooter and that's about it. He can handle the ball well enough, but it's his ability to stretch defenses with his shooting that makes him valuable to this team.

James is the MVP of the league. He will tear apart Gallinari, both offensively and defensively. If Chandler was healthy, at least they could match up athletically, but James is just better than Gallinari at everything but 3-point shooting.

Advantage: Cavaliers

Power Forward
David Lee vs. Antawn Jamison
This could very well be the deciding factor of the series. Lee was an All-Star, but injuries have slowed him towards the end of the season. He's still one of the better power forwards in the league, and his play will be big here.

Jamison used to be an offensive force, but age has slowed him considerably. He still scored 11 points this year, but he shoots too many jumpers and isn't efficient enough at the PF slot. His defense is not good enough here, either.

Advantage: Knicks

Center
Chris Bosh vs. Al Harrington
Bosh is actually a PF, but he has adapted to the C role very well this year. He was an absolute beast, and carried this Knicks team. Let's see if he can shake his poor playoff performances of the past and start anew in NYC.

Harrington is actually a SF masquerading as a PF playing the C role. He will get punished here by Bosh. Harrington shot an abysmal 42.2% as a C and Bosh will make life hell for him.

Advantage: Knicks

Bench
The Knicks bench was thinned out by the injury to Chandler, but Shannon Brown is a valuable piece of this bench as an offensive weapon. Shaun Livingston, Craig Smith, and Eddy Curry will be called on to give the starter's a rest, but nothing more.

The Cavs have Anderson Varejao to provide energy and rebounding off the bench, with Shaquille O'Neal and Anthony Parker to a provide scoring punch. No one else on their thin bench was used very much.

Advantage: Draw

Final Thoughts
While the Knicks have a better starting 5 all around, and certainly the better post players, LeBron James is too hungry for a ring to see his quest end in the first round. His star power will be too much for the balanced play of the Knicks.
Prediction: Cavaliers in 6

It will be a tough series. I hope we can win, but the Cavs are a real tough first round draw, especially without Wilson Chandler.

Game One
I try everything I can think of, even putting Bosh on LeBron at one point, but nothing can slow him down as he scores 36 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 99-87 win in Game One. We have 6 players score in double figures, but like Yahoo! pointed out, our balanced play couldn't beat the star power of LBJ.
New York 87 Cleveland 99

Game Two
Bosh scores 24, Gallinari scores 20, and Smith scores 18. We also hold LeBron to just 15 points. But it's not enough as we still drop Game Two to the Cavaliers. Our 20 turnovers to their 8 is the deciding factor really.
New York 98 Cleveland 107

Game Three
We need to get the two games at home. I don't want to face elimination at all this series, if that's possible. With that said, LeBron and Mo Williams combine for 60 points as we get blown out at home. Bosh and Gallinari were in foul trouble all game, and only Craig Smith could get it going on offense, scoring 21 points. I'm not sure what's going on, but so far Smith is averaging 18.3 points per game and is leading our team.
Cleveland 121 New York 81

Game Four
At least let us avoid the sweep. That's all I ask at this point. I understand we're without Chandler, Lee is still battling a sprained ankle, but we're not so bad that Cleveland would sweep us. Bosh battles hard, scoring 26 points, five other players chip in with double figures, and it comes down to the final shot of the game. Unfortunately, that shot belonged to LeBron James, he of his 34 points, who beat us at the buzzer, at home, to sweep us.
Cleveland 111 New York 109

It's an empty feeling, being swept. Chandler was 15 days away from being able to rejoin us, Lee was almost over his sprained ankle, and Bosh gave his best effort to carry us, night in and night out. We aren't the only team swept though, as New Jersey swept Charlotte and Dallas swept New Orleans.

The Lakers eliminated the Thunder in 5 games, leaving 4 series left to decide.

San Antonio, Utah, and Milwaukee all completed their upsets in 6, taking out Denver, Portland and Orlando. Pretty surprising given how dominant these teams were and that Utah/Milwaukee were hardly .500 teams.

The Celtics took 7 games, but they beat the Bulls and moved on to the next round.

Wade, Iggy and the Nets beat LeBron in 5 games, ending his title quest. Boston beat the upstart Bucks in 5, San Antonio eliminated Utah in 5, and Kobe would not be denied a chance at number 6 as he carried his team in Game 7 to beat the Mavs.

The Nets swept Boston, and the Lakers beat San Antonio in 5 for a rematch of the 2002 NBA Finals.

Although I'm still pretty bummed about the way our season ended, I'm glad to hear that Chandler is back to full strength. A little too late, but oh well.

I tune in to Sportscenter for the pregame show to the first game of the 2011 NBA Finals.

The Lakers size is too much for the Nets to handle, especially when the Lakers have a sparkplug like Iverson coming off the bench. Kobe is too thirsty for his 6th ring to let Wade take it away. The Nets may be the deeper team, but in a short series like this one, the Lakers size takes over.

New Jersey 111, Lakers 105: Pau drops 39 but the Nets play as a team and beat out the Lakers. Kobe is held to just 14 points.

New Jersey 104, Lakers 94: Kobe exacts his revenge with a 28 point outing, but it's not enough and the Nets take a 2-0 series lead heading home.

New Jersey 113, Lakers 88: The Nets stifling defense is just too much for the Lakers as they are held to 39% from the floor. This one looks all but over.

New Jersey 101, Lakers 91: Kobe scores 30 but again its not enough as the Nets balanced attack is too much. The Nets, in a surprising outcome, sweep the Lakers.

Congrats to the Nets. This raises a lot of questions in Laker Land, as the collapse came at the worst time possible.

Speaking of questions, we have plenty of our own to answer this offseason.

Who will play defense on this team? The Knicks finished 27th in points per game allowed, and 28th in opposing team FG%. While Ridnour, Henry, Gallinari and Lee are all fantastic offensive players, none of them are defensive stalwarts, or even decent defensive players yet. Someone will have to play defense if the Knicks want to win.

Will the Knicks acquire a true center, or stick to the two PF mold? While Bosh and Lee both had great seasons, and it allowed them to be a bit more of a running team, the interior defense wasn't great as their was no center to clog the middle and stop opposing players from driving.

Who will the Knicks acquire in free agency? They already had 8M in cap space during the season, and with Curry's 11M salary coming off the books that leaves them with 19M to play with. Granted, some of that will go into extending Wilson Chandler and possibly resigning Craig Smith (especially after his playoff series), but that will still leave enough money to get one or maybe two impact players.

NBA LOTTERY

14. Indiana (0)
13. Atlanta (0)
12. Sacramento (0)
11. Memphis (0)
10. Golden State (0)
9. Minnesota (-1)
8. Houston (-1)
7. Washington (-2)
6. Phoenix (-2)
5. Toronto (-2)
4. Miami (-3)
3. Philadelphia (+3)

That means that...

2. Detroit (+7)
1. Detroit (+1)

Wow. The Pistons got the top two picks. I think that's never happened before. I bet they are glad they traded away Cole Aldrich for the Clippers pick now (which turned into the 2nd overall pick).

2011 NBA Awards

MVP
Chris Paul - New Orleans Hornets - 23.1 ppg 11.4 apg 5.1 rpg 1.9 spg

Defensive Player of the Year
Dwight Howard - Orlando Magic - 24.2 ppg 14.7 rpg 3.5 bpg

Sixth Man of the Year
Greg Oden - Portland Trailblazers - 10.4 ppg 6.2 rpg 1.3 bpg

Rookie of the Year
Tiago Splitter - San Antonio Spurs - 14.7 ppg 7.6 rpg 1.4 bpg

Coach of the Year
Phil Jackson - Los Angeles Lakers (60-22)

I think that if Chandler hadn't gone down with his injury, Xavier Henry could have challenged for Sixth Man of the Year. Also, I think John Wall got screwed by his team. He averaged 16.6 points 6.6 assists and a steal per game, and had he played the whole season he would have been ROY. Evan Turner definitely deserved consideration.

All-NBA 1st Team
Chris Paul - New Orleans Hornets
Dwyane Wade - New Jersey Nets
LeBron James - Cleveland Cavaliers
Chris Bosh - New York Knicks
Dwight Howard - Orlando Magic

All-NBA 2nd Team

Pau Gasol
Andrew Bogut

All-Rookie 1st Team

Evan Turner - Philadelphia 76ers
Wes Johnson - Minnesota Timberwolves
Tiago Splitter - San Antonio Spurs
DeMarcus Cousins - Oklahoma City Thunder

All-Rookie 2nd Team
John Wall - Washington Wizards
Xavier Henry - New York Knicks
Gordon Hayward - New Orleans Hornets
Derrick Favors - Golden State Warriors
Omer Asik - Chicago Bulls

Nice to see Bosh and Henry get recognition. It seems as though the panel held Wall's 49 games against him, as he was much better than Rubio, but Rubio played the whole season.

In Knick related news, 3rd-string PG Tony Douglas was the MVP of the D-League after putting up 25.6 ppg and 5.7 apg.

I'm still in good standing with Donnie Walsh, as my job security remained unchanged. I've got 3 years left on my contract, and I assume I'll need to take this team further if I want to keep my job.

We have the 20th pick of the draft. If I have any say, and I don't, I vote we aim for a defensive playmaker. At any position.

The Pistons take Michael Claxton, a 6'11 Center who nearly averaged a 20/20 at USC first. The experts think he was a mistake pick, but then again, the Pistons have the next pick anyway.

Their next selection is Alex Okelley, a 6'2 point guard who averaged a triple double at Alabama. The experts like the pick this time. The Pistons look like they just got two very good players.

3. Joe Merfeld, SF, 29.6 ppg for Duke. He'll replace Iguodala for the 76ers and give Turner a running mate.
4. Trey Bains, PG to Miami.
5. Lloyd McBride, PG to Toronto. A bit of a reach.
6. Matt Rivers, SF to Phoenix. Another reach according to JP.
7. Parker Callier, C to Washington. He dropped a bit, Washington should be pleased.
8. Osei Bedard, PG to Houston. I don't like this kid at all, he's a 5'11 PG who scores first, passes later. At least he plays defense.
9. Gerard Taillard, PG to Minnesota. Why Minny? You already have Rubio and Flynn. Sigh...
10. Adam Blakes, SF to Golden State. He fell a bit too, good pickup by the Warriors.
11. Loren Rogers, SG to Memphis.
12. Germayne Gallagher, SF to Sacramento.
13. Kwadjo Holland, SG to Atlanta.
14. Marshall Yarbrough, SG to Indiana.
15. Matt Duckrey, C to Philadelphia.
16. Kareem Bennem, PF to Utah.
17. John Welch, PG to Charlotte.
18. Cy Landry, PF to Milwaukee.
19. Tim Thompson, C to New Jersey. A 6'9" center who barely averaged 8 points a game? Well thanks for taking him ahead of us.

20. Marlo Borman, C to New York. At least we got a center, but he's also 6'9". He averaged 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks at Temple last year. He dropped a bit, apparently because of a run-in with the cops that had people questioning his character. Great.

21. Sam Johnson, SF to San Antonio.
22. Simon Blevins, PF to Cleveland.
23. Cedrick Harrell, PF to Boston.
24. Brent Harris, PF to New Orleans.
25. Harmens DeGroot, PF to Dallas.
26. Jason Green, SG to Orlando.
27. Dave Sims, C to Denver.
28. Quyn Cameron, C to New Jersey.
29. Desmond Jefferson, PF to Portland.
30. Colon Smith, PG to Los Angeles Lakers.

50. Phil Butler, SF to New York. He's pretty much just a spot up shooter, who is a "major steal". Nice.

First glance shows that Butler is indeed just a spot up shooter and Borman is a mediocre undersized center.
