Late that night we learn both VMI and Presbyterian have been invited to the NIT. More respect than High Point was given last year. Good for them!

Mar 14: Presbyterian loses a close one on the road to Samford. We are the last conference team standing.

We've been looking at game films of #6 UCLA. Yikes!

Thank you, Wayne! I honestly didn't think this team could play well enough for more than 2 games in a row to get the job done, but once again they saved the best for last... Our best will still probably be a blowout loss to the Bruins, but hey! We got there.

Mar 15: Our last morning practice at home before leaving for Boston. I'm honest with the kids. To make a game out of it, we are going to have to really by into the Amoeba zone when we throw it at them. I tell them we are going to need 15-20 steals and force 30 turnovers to have a chance. We'll also have to shoot the lights out.

Completely unable to sleep the night before the game, so my staff and I stay up all night tossing around ideas that mostly lead us to nowhere. Hopefully the players sleep better. They should. After arriving in Boston we put them through the hardest practice any of them have probably ever encountered. Unable to simulate the Bruins capabilities with any realism whatsoever, the scout team plays our white team 8 on 5 for the entire scrimmage with 3 guys playing the ball on defense and with a triple low post on offense.

A couple hours before game time Kevin tells me he has something to do, and will meet us at the venue. I wearily say ok.

Kevin Culuko is my top assistant, and the defensive guru who introduced me to the Amoeba Zone.
