Working His Way to the Top: The Journey of Mike Schaplowsky

Working His Way to the Top: The Journey of Mike Schaplowsky

Postby sportsfanmike » Thu Nov 17, 2011 1:33 pm

Let me introduce myself, my name is Mike Schaplowsky. I am the new head coach of the Kansas City Hoppers. Now, I only got the position by luck. A little about me, I'm 31 years old, looking to break into the coaching ranks and establish myself as a top D1 coach. Now this new format the NCAA has, this new promotion/relegation, is right up my alley, because I love watching European soccer and seeing the crappy teams get relegated and the good teams of lower divisions get moved up to the highest division. Kansas City is in Conference P, which really is quite horrible. There's only 6 conferences rated lower than ours. Now I understand conferences were broken down by prestige. Top 20 prestige teams in conference A and so on. So I have my work cut out for me if I want to make it to the top. I'm ready.

A side note, I didn't feel like editing the team names or fighting with mods, so a lot of the team names are wrong, and its hard to tell what the real team name should be. All the mascots are wrong. So it's sort of a fictional/reality dynasty. Hope you guys don't mind that all the team names and mascots won't be correct. After lunch I will hopefully get started on this thing, but this will get you started. Hope you enjoy.

Since I have very little time to devote to this (working 3 jobs and having other projects on the side will do that to you), and since recruiting is like a foreign language to me, I'm going to play this game like I always have. The computer AI will handle recruiting, practice, depth chart, etc etc for me. All games will be simulated, and I'll do game by game reports. The only games I will actually coach will be tournament games. (In Season, Mid Season, Conference, Post Season)

And here is the 2011-2012 schedule for Kansas City.

Nov. 2011

14- @ Indiana St.
17- Radford
21- @ South Dakota
24- Hartford
28- Arkansas-LR

Dec. 2011

1- @ #8 South Bend
5- @ Akron
8- Tennessee Tech
12- @ Evanstown
19- Utah St.
26- Denver

Jan. 2012

2- North Baltimore*
5- Williamsburg*
9- @ Utah Valley St.*
12- Delaware*
16- Portland*
19- @ Baltimore*
23- Eastern Washington*
26- @ Western Illinois*
30- SE Louisiana*

Feb. 2012

2- @ Texas A&M CC*
6- SE Missouri St.*
9- @ Portland St.*
13- New York*
16- @ North Baltimore*
20- @ Williamsburg*
23- Utah Valley St.*

As you can tell, some of the colleges have their real names, others don't. I did try to download the mod but apparently it didn't work. If people want real college names, I'll make it happen. The fictional is kinda fun though.

2011-2012 Confrence "P" Predictions

1. Utah Valley St.
2. Delaware
3. Mississippi Valley St.
4. SE Missouri St.
5. Western Illinois
6. North Baltimore
7. Baltimore
8. Portland
9. Eastern Washington
10. New York
11. Cal Riverside
12. Williamsburg
13. SE Louisiana
14. Texas A&M CC
15. Portland St.
16. Kansas City

Ouch, we are picked last, not good. Looks like we are a serious relegation candidate. On one note, I'm not happy with the conference schedule. It's a 16 game schedule, so I think we should be playing each team once, and then just one team twice. Instead we play a few teams twice, and don't play a few teams at all.

The 16-team conference schedule parallels the Big East's schedule.

thanks pointguard, I didn't know that. Wonder why the Big East does it that way? I'd think they'd want every school to play every other school once. hmm.

I think I'm going to just scrap this project. For several reasons, 1 is that I am so busy with working 3 jobs and doing other projects that I don't have time to do a full dynasty report for this. But moreso, is that this game is frustrating me. For whatever reason I can't seem to get past the unhandled exception errors, and I can't figure out how to get the real team mod to work. If I can get past those 2 issues, I'd be more willing to try a dynasty report. If anybody can help me out that would be great.

What kind of problem are you having getting the real team mod to work?
