2012-2013 Texas A&M-CC Roster

Point Guards

#20 Kyle Parker- 5'10" JR, 2/4
#1 Shane Martin- 6' JR, 1.5/3.5
#23 Mills Meliet- 6'5" JR, 1.5/3.5

Martin, a JC transfer, will start, but look for Parker and Meliet to get a lot of minutes. Parker is going to have an issue with his grades, he's got to get that 2.3 GPA up.

Shooting Guards

#4 Jimmy Brittian- 6' SR, 2/3.5
#3 Brian Patten- 6'6" SR, 3/4

Pretty easy call here, as Patten could be our best player this season. However, Brittian will get his minutes, and Meliet will probably see some action at SG as well.

Small Forwards

#22 Gene Lewis- 6'8" JR, 3/3.5
#40 Jimmy Barnes- 6'8" JR, 2/3.5

Lewis will start and see the most minutes at SF. Barnes will see some time as well.

Power Forwards

#24 Andre Lloyd- 6'6" FR, 1/3
#33 Reggie Cota- 6'8" SO, 2/3
#31 Josh Lubeck- 6'6" SR, 3/3.5

Lubeck will start, Cota will back him up. I don't expect Lloyd to play much this season. In fact if he sees any action, it could be at the 3 spot.

Centers

#50 Mark Menser- 6'9" FR, 1/2.5
#41 Mike Wills- 7'1" FR, 1.5/3.5
#53 Kyle Thorton- 6'8" JR, 2.5/2.5

Thorton will start, but I want to talk about Mike Wills. His potential was a 1.0 last year, but he made great strides in the offseason. I'm not saying he's going to see the floor a lot this year, but he's got a chance. Menser will not see the floor, he is redshirting.

I also cut 2 players from the team. I've noticed the game likes a roster of 15, but not me. I like a roster of 12, and will do my best to keep it at 12 active players.

Another note, apparently Mike Wills and Andre Lloyd did redshirt last season, as they are both listed as freshmen again. Interesting.

Should get a few games in tomorrow, as I am still feeling ill and probably will not be up much longer. Hopefully will feel better tomorrow and be able to get a few games in.

Nov. 15, 2012

UMKC (0-0) @ Texas A&M-CC (0-0)

Last time we took on UMKC, they beat us in the Conference P semifinals. They are in conference O now, and we are looking for revenge. And boy did we get some sweet, sweet revenge! We held them to 31% shooting, including 6, yes, 6% from three point land. Reggie Cota had a double double with 11 points and 14 boards, and Kyle Thorton added 13 points and 8 boards as we rolled to a 69-44 victory.

Nov. 18, 2012

Texas A&M-CC (1-0) @ Kentucky Wesleyan (0-0)

They are a few conferences below us, but we know we can't take anybody lightly, as they can easily pull the upset. And as the story goes, they did get that upset, beating us 69-55. I still say there is a home court advantage in this game, but nevertheless. Joshua Lubeck was our only double digit scorer with 15.

Nov. 22, 2012

Cal St. Bakersfield (2-0) @ Texas A&M-CC (1-1)

We led by as many as 25 in this one, and had 4 players in double figures. Gene Lewis led us with 17 points as we won 75-63.

Nov. 25, 2012

Texas A&M-CC (2-1) @ Presbyterian (0-3)

Presbyterian is not a very good team, and we totally outclassed them tonight, winning 82-61. Gene Lewis had 25 points and 5 boards to lead us.

Nov. 29, 2012

Texas A&M-CC (3-1) @ San Diego (3-1)

Our trip out west didn't go so good. We figured this would be one of our toughest non-conference road games, and I was right. We got blasted 83-49, trailing by as many as 37.

Thanks pointguard and coachc, glad to be back.

Dec. 2, 2012

Wright St. (3-2) @ Texas A&M-CC (3-2)

Kyle Thorton had 10 points and 9 rebounds as we took an 11 point lead in the second half and made it hold up, winning 84-73.

Dec. 6, 2012

VMI (4-2) @ Texas A&M-CC (4-2)

The key stat in this game: We only had 6 assists on 22 baskets. A lot of selfish basketball tonight which resulted in just 36.3% shooting, and we lost 75-66.

Dec. 9, 2012

Missouri St. (3-3) @ Texas A&M-CC (4-3)

I figured this would be a very tough game, but we held our own and then some. Gene Lewis exploded for 32 points and Kyle Thorton got an offensive rebound and put back with 2 seconds to go, that was the difference. We stunned Missouri St. 79-78.

Dec. 13, 2012

Texas A&M-CC (5-3) @ Loyola-Chicago (5-3)

Gene Lewis had another hot game with 20 points, but didn't get a lot of help from the rest of the team. Defensively we struggled again as Loyola shot 46% from the field and outscored us 40-19 in the second half. That was the difference as we lost 67-55.
