Superstar 3

Postby PointGuard » Mon Aug 12, 2013 1:38 pm

OK, the guy's an animal! Does it SEEM like any defense the AI employs works better against him? Generally does a m-2-m or a zone work better against him? (Obviously nothing has worked too well.) Does it APPEAR that the AI double teams him most all the time?

I know you said he could play all 5 positions and his natural position is SF, but what position have you played him at most of the time (SG to give him a lot of touches and maximize his scoring opportunities?)?

Good questions. I rarely notice what D the AI is playing but I'll pay attention to it. He mostly plays the 3 and fills in at PG, but if I play him too many minutes at 1 and 2 he gets in foul trouble. This game LOVES to foul out the PG so I'm always careful about that. He rarely plays 4 or 5 but this season he may, we're really weak there and I have three guys who can play PG.

This was just an experiment to see how good a player could be as a scorer. The answer: Pretty good! The broken computer that led to it is fixed but what the heck, I might as well finish this one to see if he can go undefeated for four years without a great supporting cast- I've been careful about not getting great recruits, only fairly good ones with the high GPA Harvard would require, and after your comment no transfers or Jucos unless they had 3.5 or higher (so none at all).

LOL re your "pretty good" comment about a guy averaging 60 ppg.

Can you just imagine the NBA if a guy like this said he wasn't going to play pro ball?

They offer him the moon and more. But the moon doesn't interest Ali, he's headed for the stars.

Getting ready

Postby Wayne23 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 1:18 am

5/1: Only predicted to finish at #24. We’ll see about that. We are weak up front. We buy the National basic and East Gold.

6/5: No openings for transfers.

6/26: 2 scholarships to fill. Want one big, one guard. Looking at 10, 3 PG, 2 SG, 2 PF, 3 C.

8/7: Ali is #1 on the Norton List again.

9/4: Offer to a PG and an SG
. We need bigs but these are the two best available.

9/11: Home visits.

9/18: Encouraging news on recruits but no commitments. We have a schedule. Invited to the Las Vegas Winter Jam. Tough schedule, 8 ranked, all on the road, the home games are almost all with 3 ½ star teams.

9/25: Got one, lost one. Got our highest rated recruit ever, #33 PG Marq Loft. Not offering the open scholarship ‘til the numbers change next week.

10/2: First day of practice. Definite talent in the back court but not much at 4 and 5.

Picked to win the Ivy League.

10/23: At #5 in the latest poll.

11/2: 1st exhibition is vs. Belmont
. As happened last year I won’t play Ali, and Mull and Walk will share a spot. 36-42 at the half.

66-86. We aren’t much without Ali. -3, -9, 50-45%, fouls 12-19.

11/7: 2nd exhibition is vs. Belmont. 16-22 at the half.

47-72. -4, -8, 32-43%. Fouls 13-16.

Big change is that Alt will start at 4. Gain is out. Fark will get lots of minutes, King and Culk will share the rest of the bench minutes.

Good start

Postby Wayne23 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 1:20 am

Alabama is in to start the season. Good SG and lots of talent inside. Let’s see what we look like.

11/14: Good start, 85-43.

+7, +7, 58-31%. Team effort to a much larger degree than in the past.

46, 11, 4, 0, 5 for Ali, 12, 5, 4, 2 for Lamb at the Point, 10, 5, 3 for Camp at C, 8 for Alt at PF.

At #13, 1-0 Wake Forest. Very good at 2 and 3, shaky with the ball. Definitely better than Alabama.

11/17: 86-52.

+18, -5, 63-41%.

60, 8, 5, 1, 2 for Ali, 2, 7, 4 for Camp. Lamb committed 2 fouls in the first minute and then 2 more in the first minute of the 2nd half. Fark filled in and did fine.

11/20: #21.

At #7, 3-1 North Carolina State. PF is All America.
It goes downhill quickly after that.

11/21: 95-71.

+7, -3, 63-40%, fouls 17-25.

73, 10, 3, 0, 3 for Ali, 8, 6, 3, 1 for Smog, 6, 5, 1 for Camp.

6-0 and we beat #1

Postby Wayne23 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 1:39 am

At #11, 3-1 Maryland. Can score inside and out and they do everything well. Only 4 players though.

11/24: 84-78. They hung in pretty well. We got it to 18 in the 2nd but they came back and got it to 3 at one point.

-7, -2, 59-53%. Fouls 18-23 and we won it at the line, 26-14.

67, 7, 2, 0, 2 for Ali, 7, 3, 6, 1 for Lamb.

#13, RPI #6.

3-1 Marquette is in.
They haven’t played anybody. Starting C, maybe their best player, broke his hand.

11/28: 94-68.

+9, -2, 67-42%.

59, 13, 3, 0, 5 for Ali, 11, 2, 2, 1 for Smog, 9, 1, 9, 3 for Lamb.

The ultimate challenge, at #1, 7-0 Duke. No one has scored more than 43 on them. 6 outstanding players. They don’t have a true PG though. We will need to exploit that. The win streak is at 71 but it’s definitely threatened here.

12/1: 82-73.

They never led after 18:22 in the 2st half.

-4, -4, 53-47%, fouls 21-12. Not quite sure how we won,. Given those numbers. Wait! 11 threes, that’s how.

41, 7, 1, 1, 0 for Ali who played only 25 min. due to foul trouble. 18, 4, 3, 3, 1 for Smog who came up BIG! 8, 3, 4 for Fark. Lamb fouled out in only 15 min.

12/4: #12, RPI #1. We beat #1 by 9 on the road and climb only one spot?

We keep winning

2-3 Boston College is in. Best player is hurt and they’ve struggled with him healthy. No inside game.

12/5: 95-62.

+16, +1, 72-46%, fouls 8-20.

59, 6, 3, 2, 4 for Ali, 16, 11, 3 for Smog, his best game ever.

At #10, 7-1 Georgetown. 1-1 vs. ranked teams. Tough outside but not as good inside.

12/8: 82-58. They stayed with us for the 1st half.

+17, -5, 60-38%.

42, 14, 9, 3, 6 for Ali, 15, 7, 1, 2 for Camp, 10, 3, 4 for Smog, 6, 5, 1, 1 for Fark.

12/11: #8, RPI #1.

6-2 Ohio State is in
. Some talent inside and a 2 who scores.

12/12: 103-63. Never a game.

+10, +3, 59-36%, fouls 12-28.

58, 10, 4, 1, 3 for Ali, 19, 2, 3 for Smog, 10, 3, 3 for Fark.

Lamb hurt his shoulder, about a week. Fark will start.

That's what I say when he gets in foul trouble and turns it over- which is why he doesn't start!
