Game #35 - Start of 2001-02 Season

Postby randy » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:44 am

Nov 15, 2001: Massachusetts (0-0) @ UCLA (0-0)

Our bigs have provided majority of our offensive production. We shot a decent 48% FG. But there were too many fouls called on - 16 in the 1st half, resulting in 24 FT attempts for UMASS. I got my 1st technical of the season. Halftime, Up 43-38.

We opened up the 2nd half on a 10-0 run, and we lead by 15. We were able to preserve our double digit advantage the rest of the way. Not even UMASS's +33 advantage in FT attempts could help them. All of our 4 freshmen have performed well on their debut game, helping us reach the century mark on our 1st game of the season.

Final Score: Massachusetts - 74, UCLA - 103

Game #36

Postby randy » Wed Jan 22, 2014 3:42 am

Nov 18, 2001: Auburn (1-0) @ UCLA (1-0)

We got into early foul trouble again, allowing AUB to have a +13 advatange in FT attempts. But our 68% FG shooting more than compensated for it. Halftime, Up 45-29.

Better offense for AUB in the 2nd half cutting our lead to 10. We went on a mini run to increase our lead to 18, but AUB had 1 late push getting to within 10 again, with 3 mins remaining. Our defense prevented AUB from scoring enough pts in the end game.

Game #37

Postby randy » Wed Jan 22, 2014 4:12 am

Nov 22, 2001: Michigan (1-1) @ #13 UCLA (2-0)

We get to an early 16-2 lead, as we were getting a lot of fast break pts in the opening minutes. We played great defense the entire 20 mins, as MICH limited to only 23% FG, and committing 10 turn overs. Halftime, Up 37-15.

Defense was excellent; MICH shot a woeful 3-20 3PT today.
