Charlotte Bobcats - Mission Improbable?

Postby ukballer » Fri Jul 13, 2012 2:29 pm

Charlotte Bobcats (0-10) @ Miami Heat (7-0) - Nov 21st 2012

Ugly, ugly, ugly. We looked like high school kids out there.

Final Score: Bobcats 71-110 Heat

POTG: Kris Humphries (MIA) - 28 pts, 19 rebs, 2 ast, 3 blk

Notable Mentions: LeBron James (MIA) - 24 pts, 9 rebs, 4 ast
Dwyane Wade (MIA) - 25 pts, 5 rebs, 2 ast, 3 blk, 3 stl
Ben Gordon (CHA) - 23 pts, 3 ast, 2 stl

New York Knicks (5-5) @ Charlotte Bobcats (0-11) - Nov 22nd 2012

Considering how embarrassing a franchise we are right now, this was actually one of our better efforts. Back to back games, the first one being against the Heat took its toll on our guys though, and we didn't have enough to compete. Kemba had a career game though which was nice to see.

Final Score: Knicks 111-102 Bobcats

POTG: Tyson Chandler (NYK) - 26 pts, 12 rebs, 8 blks

Notable Mentions: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 31 pts, 5 rebs, 6 ast
Carmelo Anthony (NYK) - 18 pts, 11 rebs, 4 ast
Tyrus Thomas (CHA) - 18 pts, 9 rebs, 5 stl, 2 blk

Cleveland Cavaliers (4-7) @ Charlotte Bobcats (0-12) - Nov 25th 2012

We got murdered in the 1st and 3rd quarters. Staged a semi comeback in the 4th, but wasn't anywhere near enough. We'll get that win sooner or later. Just feel bad for the guys out there, there is no denying the effort is there.

Final Score: Cavaliers 104-92 Bobcats

POTG: Kyrie Irving (CLE) - 20 pts, 6 ast, 3 stl

Notable Mentions: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 19 pts, 2 stl
Stephen Jackson (CLE) - 17 pts, 7 rebs, 3 ast

Memphis Grizzlies (6-8) @ Charlotte Bobcats (0-13) - Nov 27th 2012

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. We've finally done it! What a relief. Great performance all game as well, a surprisingly dominant win against a very average Memphis team.

Final Score: Grizzlies 88-119 Bobcats

POTG: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 21 pts, 5 rebs, 2 stl, 2 blk

Notable Mentions: Marc Gasol (MEM) - 22 pts, 7 rebs, 4 stl, 2 blk
Derrick Brown (CHA) - 19 pts, 5 rebs, 2 ast
D.J. Augustin (CHA) - 16 pts, 3 rebs, 4 ast

Charlotte Bobcats (1-13) @ Minnesota Timberwolves (10-5) - Nov 29th 2012

We quickly fell back to earth after the Memphis win, coming up against a very talented Minnesota team that quickly put us back in our place. Kevin Love went off in a big way, and Ricky Rubio fell just short of a triple-double.

Final Score: Bobcats 88-111 Timberwolves

POTG: Kevin Love (MIN) - 37 pts, 14 rebs

Notable Mentions: Nikola Pekovic (MIN) - 21 pts, 6 rebs
Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 22 pts, 5 rebs
Ricky Rubio (MIN) - 19 pts, 9 rebs, 8 ast, 2 stl

This team will win 15 games at least. Stay on track, you'll be fine.

Yeah, I've got nothing for love for my team, awful as they are. :p

The bad times we're having now are going to make any future success that much sweeter.

Each of our guys at one point or another are showing some flashes of great play, so the promise is there. Putting it all together is going to be the difficult part.

Planning to add some more statistics for future updates, such as Conference standings, league leaders for PPG, RPG etc etc, if that's something you'd all be interested in.

Charlotte Bobcats (1-14) @ Sacramento Kings (11-5) - Dec 1st 2012

The Kings have been surprising everyone so far this season, and are tied for the lead in the Western Conference. They added some nice pieces during the off-season, and they seem a much more mature outfit. We kept it close for most of the game but as per usual, didn't have enough to get over the hump and keep it close in the final few minutes.

Final Score: Bobcats 92-103 Kings

POTG: Tyreke Evans (SAC) - 20 pts, 10 rebs, 3 ast, 4 stl

Notable Mentions: Derrick Brown (CHA) - 20 pts, 4 rebs, 3 ast
Nicolas Batum (SAC) - 19 pts, 7 rebs

Charlotte Bobcats (1-15) @ Phoenix Suns (7-8) - Dec 2nd 2012

Usual story here. Little slow out the gates, but mounted a semi comeback which wasn't quite enough. Kemba got in foul trouble early and had a poor game, but MKG had his best scoring output as a pro for us so far.

Final Score: Bobcats 100-107 Suns

POTG: Marcin Gortat (PHO) - 22 pts, 12 rebs, 5 blk, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Carl Landry (PHO) - 25 pts, 11 rebs, 2 ast
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 22 pts, 2 rebs, 2 ast, 3 stl
Ben Gordon (CHA) - 19 pts, 2 rebs, 3 ast

Charlotte Bobcats (1-16) @ Golden State Warriors (8-9) - Dec 4th 2012

An ever improving Warriors team were just too much for us tonight. David Lee in particular was just too much for our guys tonight, though Stephen Curry was the guy who really tore us apart. One more game for us on this West roadtrip. Think we'll be glad to get back home.

Final Score: Bobcats 92-121 Warriors

POTG: David Lee (GSW) - 27 pts, 5 rebs, 2 ast

Notable Mentions: Stephen Curry (GSW) - 18 pts, 4 rebs, 15 ast, 2 blk
Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 20 pts, 4 rebs, 3 ast
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 17 pts, 4 rebs, 4 ast

Charlotte Bobcats (1-17) @ Oklahoma City Thunder (12-7) - Dec 6th 2012

Not even close. OKC pulled their starters pretty early in this game, though KD still got 28 points. Only 2 of our players hit double figure points.

Final Score: Bobcats 73-113 Thunder

POTG: Kevin Durant (OKC) - 28 pts, 2 rebs, 2 ast

Notable Mentions: Serge Ibaka (OKC) - 17 pts, 14 rebs
Russell Westbrook (OKC) - 15 pts, 10 ast, 4 rebs, 2 stl

Utah Jazz (6-14) @ Charlotte Bobcats (1-18) - Dec 9th 2012

The guys had a few days off after the tough road trip just to clear their heads, and looked forward to this game at home. The guys came out with real intensity, and maintained it for almost the whole game. With just 6 minutes of the game left we built up an 18 point lead against the Jazz. They mounted a mini comeback at the end, but didn't have anywhere near enough time, and we got our second win of the season, fantastic effort from the guys. The play from MKG these last few games has been really promising, exciting stuff for us.

Final Score: Jazz 96-104 Bobcats

POTG: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 24 pts, 5 rebs, 7 ast, 3 blk

Notable Mentions: Paul Millsap (UTA) - 22 pts, 10 rebs, 2 ast
Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 18 pts, 6 rebs, 2 stl
Kemba Walker (CHA) - 17 pts, 6 rebs, 8 ast

Trade Offer Received

Lakers Trade: Jason Maxiell + Metta World Peace
Bobcats: Ben Gordon + 2013 2nd Round Pick (Bobcats)

Outcome: Rejected. Getting rid of BG's contract is something we wouldn't mind doing sometime or another, but not for an under-average PF and an ageing MWP. Plus we could do with keeping our draft picks unless an amazing offer comes along.

Atlanta Hawks (12-8) @ Charlotte Bobcats (2-18) - Dec 11th 2012

We did alright for the most part, but Joe Johnson and Al Horford blew the game wide open in the final quarter, and we had no answer.

Final Score: Hawks 119-90 Bobcats

POTG: Al Horford (ATL) - 24 pts, 9 rebs, 5 ast, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Joe Johnson (ATL) - 24 pts, 5 rebs, 8 ast
Kemba Walker (CHA) - 18 pts, 4 rebs, 4 ast

Team Incident

Byron Mullens and Derrick Brown exchanged some words and pushed each other around a bit during shooutaround before our game against the Wizards. I know things aren't going well and I can completely understand their frustrations, but these are 2 of the players on our team I wouldn't expect this from, which makes it surprising and disappointing. More than ever right now, we need to stick together.

Washington Wizards (10-11) @ Charlotte Bobcats (2-19) - Dec 15th 2012

After being the butt of many jokes over the last few seasons, the Wizards have definitely made a step in the right direction with some of their acquisitions. This was a great game though, with the teams not being separated by more than 4 points until the final quarter, where our usual inability to make shots at the end reared its ugly head again, and we lost by 5.

Final Score: Wizards 95-90 Bobcats

POTG: Nene (WAS) - 23 pts, 9 rebs, 4 blk

Notable Mentions: Jordan Crawford (WAS) - 18 pts, 4 rebs
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 20 pts, 5 rebs

Charlotte Bobcats (2-20) @ San Antonio Spurs (16-7) - Dec 17th 2012

We expected the worse, and we got it sadly. Had no way of competing against this team. Manu Ginobili went off in his 6th man role, and more surprisingly Tiago Splitter had a good game too.

Final Score: Bobcats 84-120 Spurs

POTG: Manu Ginobili (SAS) - 28 pts, 7 rebs, 6 ast, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Tiago Splitter (SAS) - 22 pts, 10 rebs
Dejuan Blair (SAS) - 16 pts, 5 rebs, 2 stl off the hench
Derrick Brown (CHA) - 15 pts, 10 rebs

Milwaukee Bucks (14-11) @ Charlotte Bobcats (2-21) - Dec 18th 2012

Another game where we kept ourselves competitive for most of it, but as usual just completely faltered in the final quarter. We've got to get over this and fast. These are winnable games. The final scoreline definitely flatters the Bucks.

Final Score: Bucks 102-81 Bobcats

POTG: Brandon Jennings (MIL) - 19 pts, 2 rebs, 5 ast, 1 blk, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Corey Brewer (MIL) - 20 pts, 2 rebs, 2 stl
Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 22 pts, 7 rebs, 2 ast, 2 blk

Los Angeles Lakers (11-13) @ Charlotte Bobcats (2-22) - Dec 22nd 2012

The Lakers have looked surprisingly average this season, despite acquiring Steve Nash in the off-season. (Note, this happened before the real life acquisition, the fact he's a Laker here is purely coincidence!) We gave them a good game, but of course it was Kobe time in the last quarter, and of course, there was no response from us.

Final Score: Lakers 110-98 Bobcats

POTG: Kobe Bryant (LAL) - 40 pts, 8 rebs, 7 ast

Notable Mentions: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 25 pts, 7 rebs, 5 ast,
Pau Gasol (LAL) - 21 pts, 11 rebs, 5 ast, 2 blk

Tell me about it...

We've got guys on the trading block, but some of the offers we're getting are pretty piss poor. I haven't posted some of them here because it would just be embarrassing....

Tough start man. Hopefully there's a top talent in the draft you can aim for.

Me too! This awful start is actually motivating me even more to help these kids start winning, I've grown attached to them. :p Well, most of them anyway.
