November Player of the Month – Ledaryl McMillian, Golden State Warriors – 29.4 points, 8.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
November Rookie of the Month – Matt Reid, Orlando Magic – 12.8 points, 1.7 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.
In an easy 113-91 win over the surprising Nuggets Jeff Cunningham went off in the third term with a severe abdominal strain which will keep him out for at least two weeks. Earl was the best by far on the court with 30 points as all of our starters had 12 points or more. Jason London did his best with 29 points but Jehiel DeSantis is down injured and his replacement, Eli Mahorn, had a terrible night, going 0/2 for 5 points, 10 assists and 11 turnovers. Ouch.
Dallas Mavericks 11-2
Mike Lingle gets the start at centre and doesn’t disappoint with 11 points and 10 rebounds but it was all T-Mac who took Andy Kante to school with 20 points and 21 rebounds as we outlasted the Rockets 111-103 to keep our streak going. Jack and Earl combined for 40 points but they were a distant afterthought to Terry. Jay Warren led the way for Houston with 12 points and 12 assists but did turn the ball over seven times.
Dallas Mavericks 12-2
We have a week break which just means that we are going to get bitten down the track with heaps of games in a row but for now we just enjoying the freedom, even having a training free day on the weekend.
**TRADE**
New Orleans trade:
C Peter McCaffery
Golden State trade:
PG Charles Canady
2030 2nd round pick
Winner – New Orleans. With Kyrie Irving gone the Hornets needed a good, solid PG to take control and they didn’t want prized recruit Vlado Prazina to play there, instead wanting him to concentrate on being a SG. Enter Canady who has been a good, solid PG for nine years now which is just what the Hornets needed.
Washington trade:
SF Fred Blevins
San Diego trade:
SG Stefan Nitschke
2030 2nd round pick
Winner – Draw. On a basic talent for talent standpoint the Wizards take off with the gold but putting Nitschke in an already overcrowded backcourt is just asking for trouble. They add Nitschke to DeShaun Worley, Alexander Verhaeren, Jacob Alexander and Christopher de Castro and there just aren’t enough minutes to go around.
The Heat have played more than ten games than us so don’t let their less than stellar record fool you, it’s just fatigue and they will end strong. That doesn’t mean that they will beat us tonight, even with T-Mac and Jeff fouling out in less than 24 minutes each as Jack tallied 24 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds and we tallied a 129-86 away win. Seven Mavericks were in double figures as we shot 56% from the field. Lance Ellis had 21 points to lead Miami as Kenneth Long had a tough night, going 7/17.
Dallas Mavericks 13-2
That’s twelve wins in a row as T-Mac again asserts his dominance against Houston with another 20/20 game, putting up 26 points and 20 rebounds to decimate Houston 112-88. Jack added 27 points and 9 assists but Andy Kante must have done something with T-Mac’s sister or something because every time they match-up he gets that look in his eyes. Kante didn’t embarrass himself though, putting up 20 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
Dallas Mavericks 14-2
Just when it looks like we were going to roll the whole league Tiburcio Tommasini pulls out a 39 points game and we get derailed. Kevin Epps also had a blinder, going to the line 21 times (for 15 makes) on his way to 23 points and 10 assists as we lost a close game in Oregon 129-120. Jeff Cunningham had the best of Jimmy Forrest again with 22 points and 13 rebounds to Forrest’s 10 points and 5 fouls.
Dallas Mavericks 14-3
Aww, it wasn’t another 20/20 game for T-Mac as we stomp the Rockets again, three times in not long 110-94. Jack was the star this time with 19 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds as all five of our starters had 13 points or more for a very nicely balanced attack. Jamaal Lewis was great for Houston with 28 points and limiting Jack to 7/23 shooting.
Dallas Mavericks 15-3
It’s ten games in twelve nights (including the previous one against Houston) and as I said before with our week break, it’ll come back to bite us. Next up is the disappointing Pacers who have talent everywhere just not enough is refined. Earl had 36 points on our old buddy Curtis Anderson while Terry McKenzie added 25 points and 12 rebounds. Honestly this team is stacked with talent and right now they all seem to compliment each other. Our old starting centre Emmett Emerson had 23 points off the bench as the Pacers are giving Josiah Williams the keys to the franchise.
Dallas Mavericks 16-3
What? We lost? That’s right, we couldn’t stop he Kings even though we scored 125 points ourselves, giving up 136 in a terrible display for our fans. Tyler Gainous led Sac-Town with 24 points as eight Kings had eight points or more. Jack was our best with 20 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds but we can’t be giving up this many points, especially at home.
Dallas Mavericks 16-4
That’s more like it as Captain Jack torched reigning Defensive Player of the Year Cedric Watson for 31 points and 9 rebounds as we cruise to a 116-93 win over San Antonio. Earl again helped out with 22 points and 9 rebounds and is really enjoying being the other guy that teams have to worry about and not the main focus. Jon Mitchell went 11/15 from the field for 25 points in 24 minutes off the bench but it just wasn’t enough.
Dallas Mavericks 17-4
In a game to put the rest of the league on notice, Ledaryl McMillian had 27 points and 17 assists to lead the Warriors to an upset win over us, in Dallas no less, 108-91. GSW did it with their defence as well as Jack and Earl combined to shoot 15/44 from the field as we just couldn’t stop the Buzzsaw.
Dallas Mavericks 17-5
Do you remember when we traded for T-Mac and somehow got a first round pick from the Knicks because everyone thought they would be in the playoffs? Well, they’re currently 3-20 on the season and are only kept out of last place in the conference by the equally woeful Magic at 3-23. This boggles my mind why they are so bad, but I guess losing Vlado Prazina as well as going from Terry McKenzie to Julius Hobbs would bring them down a little, but I never thought this much.
We heap on the misery for my old, old team with a 139-123 win in the Big Apple as Jack led the way with 31 points and 9 assists while T-Mac only managed 14 points and 5 fouls in his return. Julius Hobbs showed off his skills with 26 points and 12 rebounds but they couldn’t slow us down. Maybe that’s the problem, too much offence and no-one to stop the other team.
Dallas Mavericks 18-5
We withstand a 42 point onslaught from the Buzzsaw to take revenge on the Warriors on our home court 136-99 as Jack, T-Mac and Jeff combined for 66 points to lead the way. Isaac Holdan played well in Nashon Smith’s foul troubled absence with 13 points and 8 assists in 24 minutes trying to reel in McMillian.
Dallas Mavericks 19-5
In a battle between two of the best scoring teams, it wasn’t a disappointment. There was 269 points scored in the game as T-Mac led six other Mav players in double figures with 34 points as Nashon Smith’s 18 points and 16 assists and Issiah Hemhill’s 21 points and 7 rebounds were helpful in our 145-124 win over Portland. Tiburcio Tommasini had his way with Captain Jack with 41 points while fouling Jack out in only 17 minutes. Jimmy Forrest had 27 points and fouled out Jeff Cunningham in an astonishing 10 minutes to get some personal dignity back from last season.
Dallas Mavericks 20-5
Michael McQuay continued to build his hype with a monster 55 point, 12 rebound, 4 steal performance in the Hawks’ 120-103 win. He shot 22/38 from the field and 11/11 from the line to demolish the Bulls.
After another great month we still haven’t broken from the pack as Utah (20-7), Denver (22-9) and Portland (17-7) all on our tails for first place. San Diego are wallowing at the bottom of the conference at 8-18, four games behind any other team.
In the East the surprising Sixers are leading the way at 17-8, a whopping five games ahead of the rebuilt Hornets and Bulls. New York have now taken sole ownership of last place with Orlando a game ahead of them.

First Round of NBA Draft Prospects
1. PF Reggie Smith (Kent State), Sophomore, 6’8”, 252lbs
2. PF Ishmael Faye (Virginia Tech), Freshman, 6’10”, 252lbs
3. C Kresimir Balas (Croatia), 20 years old, 6’11”, 264lbs
4. SG Kenyatta Harvey (Purdue), Freshman, 6’7”, 214lbs
5. C Diego Acosta (Argentina), 19 years old, 6’9”, 245lbs
Thoughts – the two freshmen are beasting at the moment and I think that Faye will be the first PF picked over Smith but there is a long way to go. I like PG Curtis Mueller (#7) who is averaging nearly a triple double out in Vanderbilt.
