New York, New York! Bringing a championship home

Postby zike_42 » Sat Nov 01, 2014 9:39 pm

We start the season against the team that people think are going to beat us in the West, Utah. We have other ideas though. Well, to be more specific, Harms has other ideas with 33 points and 6 assists as we take out the last quarter and the game 104-97. Marshod had 21 points and 9 rebounds but it was Cam who was most impressive with 14 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds while only taking 10 shots. He was willing to defer often for the best of the team. The Jazz have too much talent on their team if you can believe that and a well timed trade of two good players for one great player could put them over the edge. Gamal Hicks won’t go anywhere though with 22 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 6 steals before fouling out.

Phoenix Suns 1-0

After a 41-12 third quarter our first home game was done and dusted, destroying the Lakers 109-75 behind Harms’ 32 points and 8 assists. It wasn’t all fun and games as Cam strained his knee and even though he won’t miss any games, he’ll be hurting. Everyone got at least 11 minutes which was great for team morale. Nathan Gordon is starting at PG which is a stupidly dumb idea and finished with 13 points and 7 assists.

Phoenix Suns 2-0

Cam is hurting but he’s trying not to show it, playing 28 minutes for 11 points but we got by just the same, beating Denver 110-86. Marshod was our best with 32 points while Darryl filled in for foul troubled Sam with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Scott Dwiggins had 17 points for the Nuggets but they shot 34% from the field which is never going to win any games.

Phoenix Suns 3-0

The Lakers try again to beat us and even though it was closer than last game, it wasn’t close. Harms was fantastic with 28 points and 8 assists as we beat them again 114-101. Marshod helped with 26 points while Pin and Sam added 21 points and 21 rebounds. Nathan Gordon had a better game with 25 points and 10 assists but they just couldn’t keep up.

Phoenix Suns 4-0

Another team to try and claw one back from us is Utah and they have finally tried to play Nathaniel Jackson and Scott Oates together. Sure it didn’t work out that well with Jackson having 25 points and Oates only putting up 12 points but I hope they stick with it. We beat them anyway 129-109 with Harms and Marshod totaling 64 points between them while Pin had a nice game with 15 points and 9 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 5-0

Marshod went off on Abel Williams with 35 points on only 16 shots as we beat out our old teammates 116-104 and their Indiana friends. Harms had 20 points and 11 assists but shot badly at 4/14. Ish Faye was a star with 29 points and 13 rebounds while Winston and Abel both fouled out. Winston is loving it there in Indiana though, averaging nearly 20 points and 10 assists in this new season.

Phoenix Suns 6-0

Even the mighty Detroit Pistons cannot defeat us as we take the win on their home court 103-88. Harms was again our best with 21 points and 12 assists while Marshod led all scorers with 30 points. Cam is still hurting and going up against an All Defensive First Teamer in Williams Shine it was never going to work as he went 1/7 for 2 points. The centre battle was outrageous though with Jamie McMillian having 26 points and 16 rebounds but only shot 8/24. The reason for that was Sam Russell who, in only 21 minutes before fouling out, had 8 points, 13 rebounds and 9 blocks. Outrageous!

Phoenix Suns 7-0

I know it’s only seven games in but here are some stats on Michael Harmon –
27.0 points, 7.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 A/T ratio, 10.6/16.9 FG or 62.7%, 28.6 PER, 16.1/16.9 drives stopped per game or 95.8% and 29.3 efficiency. Not only is he doing on the board he’s doing it on scoreboard he’s lighting up the advanced stats as well.

He doesn’t let the hype slow him down with 26 points and 14 assists in our 123-101 rout of the Riders. We have a big four tonight as Harms, Cam (23 points, 9 assists), Marshod (21 points, 8 rebounds) and Pin (25 points, 16 rebounds) score 95 points to nearly outscore San Diego themselves. Cliff Havens goes 10/26 for 29 points for the losers.

Phoenix Suns 8-0

Cam’s fully healthy again and showed his pleasure in that fact by mangling the Wolves with 26 points and 8 assists as we win again 109-74. Harms and Marshod help him out with 48 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists as this was done before it even started. Minny was so bad that their leading scorer was Justin Marshall with all of 10 points.

Phoenix Suns 9-0

The next victim in our rampage is Minnesota (again) as we rack up our tenth win with a 104-84 slaughter. Cam had 21 points and 8 assists while Pin is getting very comfortable in the starting line-up with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Derrick Culuko has got another starting gig and is making the most of it with 17 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.

Phoenix Suns 10-0

It’s sad seeing such greats like Jack Dawkins, Kenneth Long and Tiburcio Tommasini suffer so badly in their old age as the Bucks are sitting at 2-11 and going nowhere fast. We heap on some more misery with a 107-87 win as Harms put up 23 points and 9 assists. Cam had a great game with 14 rebounds and Sam went 7/11 for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Tony Myers was the best for the Bucks with 21 points while Jack had 14 points and 13 rebounds and Kenneth Long went 3/12 for 6 points.

Phoenix Suns 11-0

We withstand a 19 point, 9 rebound, 9 assist game from Joe Adras to beat the Kings 111-98. Adras might have had a great game but they didn’t have anyone else to back him up. We did with Harms and Cam had 21 points each while Roman put up 11 points and 3 blocks off the bench. Sam’s having trouble keeping out of foul trouble, averaging 4.3 fouls a game after fouling out again tonight.

Phoenix Suns 12-0

Our last game of the month was another win to cap off our perfect month as Marshod had 27 points and 8 rebounds to lead us to a 117-103 win over Utah. Pin added 17 points and 12 rebounds while Darryl went 4/4 for 15 points in 14 minutes. Phil Magnum has become a decent player in his third year with 22 points and 7 assists but was undone by Gamal Hicks’ 4/17 shooting night.

Phoenix Suns 13-0

As you can expect, we’re leading the league but not by much as San Antonio are 7-1 and right behind us. San Diego are in third but a fair way behind us and the Spurs at 10-6. Milwaukee are sitting at the bottom of the conference at 2-12 but have some company in Minnesota at 3-13.

The Hornets have bolted out of the gates in the East at 7-2 but have three teams breathing down their necks with Detroit, Atlanta and Miami all with four losses. Boston are the worst team in the conference at 4-14 which is strange as it’s usually Philadelphia but don’t fear, the Sixers are second last at 4-9.

November Player of the Month – James Carroll, Houston Rockets – 30.0 points, 1.8 assists, 7.2 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.

November Rookie of the Month – Jabari McPherson, Milwaukee Bucks – 13.4 points, 8.6 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks per game.

There was a trade made last month that was so dumb from one of the teams, you just know it included Philadelphia.

Washington trade:
PF Josh Gresham
2042 2nd round pick

Philadelphia trade:
PG Jonathan Roland

Winner – Washington. Roland was the number one pick three years ago and is still on his rookie contract. Let that sink in for a minute when I tell you he got traded for a bum and a second round pick. After only playing three games for the Sixers, he’s averaging 17.9 points, 11.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 4.3 steals! What are they doing in Philadelphia? This has to be one of the most one sided deals in a long time. Ugh.

After a 38-13 first quarter white wash the Jazz just played their bench which was probably a good idea as this was always going to be our game, running out winner 116-71. Marshod, Cam and Harms had 61 points while Pin and Sam added 27 rebounds. All in all, this game was a snoozer as Gamal Hicks went 7/20 for 16 points, 9 assists and 6 steals to lead the losers.

Phoenix Suns 14-0

I can’t remember the last time one of my teams went 15-0 to start the season but as of now, I definitely know that I’ve had one as we beat Washington 121-95. Marshod put up 30 points and 9 rebounds while Jason Collins had an efficient 15 points and 6 assists in 11 minutes. Jonathan Roland must have got stage fright as he finished with 4 points as Steve Respert led them with 25 points and 9 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 15-0

It was always going to happen but I wish our first loss wasn’t against a tough opponent which we’ll see a lot of and at home as we lose to Detroit pretty easily 108-91. Jamie McMillian was again the stand out with 37 points and 13 rebounds as we only shoot 41% from the field with Cam doing the damage going 0/11 for 2 points and 6 fouls.

Phoenix Suns 15-1

We got right back on the horse, especially Cam who felt like he let us down last game as we beat the Bulls 129-113. Cam was spectacular, going 10/13 from the field and 14/17 from the line for 36 points, one more than Marshod’s 35 points. Unfortunately Harms sprained his finger (the same injury Cam had previously) so he won’t miss any games but will be hurting. Kevin Morrison, my old crush, had 21 points and 10 rebounds but would have had more if he shot better than 9/22 from the foul line.

Phoenix Suns 16-1

Harms definitely is hurting after fouling out in only 19 minutes but it didn’t matter as our other guys made up for it in a 108-91 win over Toronto. Marshod top scored with 34 points but it was Pin who did the damage, going 9/10 for 19 points and 14 rebounds. Daniel Brazzle was fantastic for the Raptors with 26 points and 12 assists but BJ Watson only had 15 points before fouling out.

Phoenix Suns 17-1

Not only did Marshod strain an abdominal but Pin hurt his leg as we lose again, this time to the Lakers 108-96. Nathan Gordon was the game’s high man with 24 points but Flavian Pesmazoglou was the best with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Marshod led us with 20 points but we shot badly from the field and from the line and turned the ball over 19 times.

Phoenix Suns 17-2

Pin is still hurting so Darryl gets the start and does a god enough job with 9 points and 9 rebounds but we fall to our first losing streak, going down to the horrible Bucks 111-104. Rookie Jabari McPherson is far and away the best rookie so far and had 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and even though Harms scored 21 points on him, McPherson caused Harms to turn the ball over 8 times.

Phoenix Suns 17-3

We get right back to winning after a four day break as Cam destroys the Warriors with 38 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds to beat GSW by himself 111-80. Marshod and Harms combined to shoot 4/17 for only 13 points so getting help from Roman (13 points in 14 minutes) and Darryl (12 points, 7 rebounds) was paramount. Tip Rice was Golden State’s best with 12 points and 10 rebounds as they shot a paltry 37% from the field.

Phoenix Suns 18-3

Huzzah! Harms is back in a big way as he’s now fully healthy and wanted to show it in style as we beat the Mavericks in Dallas 115-104. He went 13/27 for 35 points and 6 assists in a showcase that harks back to a certain former championship winning Dallas point guard. Tobe Slaughter had 21 points for the Mavs and seems to be playing well with new recruit Shaun Tebbs who had 19 points and 11 assists.

Phoenix Suns 19-3

Our last game of 2041 was against the equally awesome Brooklyn Nets who start four out of five players that I have been directly involved with. Luigi Cannavaro, who I drafted, had 28 points and 6 rebounds while another draftee, Marlin Bain, only had 7 points before fouling out. Rich Muckle and Ryan Cornell who I traded had 16 points (6/21 FG) and 13 points respectively. It didn’t do them much good as we beat them 108-97 as our big three had 69 points, 22 assists and 14 rebounds. Pin also had a nice one with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 20-3

We’re still first in the league but we have company as San Antonio are 19-5 and the Nets are now 19-6 so we can’t let go now. There’s a big break after the Spurs with Dallas at 21-12. Golden State are really under performing at 9-22 which is disappointing.

As said before the Nets are leading the East at 19-6 with Detroit four games back at 24-10 and Charlotte behind them at 24-12. There’s six teams in the East with a record of .600 or better which is insane. Boston are last at 8-25 and the Sixers aren’t even second last! They’re third last 9-16.

First Round of NBA Draft Prospects –
1. PF Delawn Hooks (High School), Senior, 6’11”, 219lbs
2. SF Marcus Jenkins (High School), Senior, 6’10”, 200lbs
3. PF Mathias Wabbes (Belgium), 19 years old, 6’11”, 253lbs
4. SG Derion Perez (Arizona), Sophomore, 6’4”, 202lbs
5. C Michael Porter (Kansas State), Junior, 6’10”, 276lbs

Thoughts – I like Hooks and Wabbes at the moment by why the hell is Rashon Woods only ranked #6? Oh that’s right, he’s a senior. A senior that is averaging 18.7 points, 19.5 rebounds and 4.7 blocks a game for Memphis. I would put money on him going number one if he keeps those numbers up, senior or not.

December Player of the Month – Pete Edgerson, Orlando Magic – 33.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks per game.

December Rookie of the Month – Jabari McPherson, Milwaukee Bucks – 17.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.2 blocks per game.

Trades from a whole year ago –

Minnesota trade:
PF Jerzy Greckij

Cleveland trade:
C Steve Howard
2042 2nd round pick

Winner – Minnesota. This trade is unbelievably one sided as Howard is close to being an All Star this season and is a top ten centre in the league, even top five. There was a rift between Howard and the Cavs’ owner Kevin Williams about where the team was going and of course Howard went. Jerzy is a bench player at best so this is highway robbery by the Wolves.

The Spurs are our biggest threat in the West so it was great to pound them into the ground with a 103-89 win. Cam was electric with 29 points but was helped by five other Suns with a dozen or more points. Mack Haston was a big reason why the Spurs are doing so well and a big reason why they were spanked tonight, going 2/7 for 6 points and 9 turnovers.

Phoenix Suns 21-3

That was unexpected as the Sonics destroy us 110-98 to stop our momentum in its tracks. Ben Angeli had 24 points for Seattle as they force us to turn the ball over 18 times. Harms was our best with 29 points and 7 assists. Hopefully this was just a speed bump.

Phoenix Suns 21-4

The Sixers actually have ten wins which is exciting for them but they still aren’t very good. Shown by our 115-92 throw down as Harms put up 30 points and 12 assists to show who is boss. Frankly, I don’t know why we play Philly anymore, it should just be an automatic win.

Phoenix Suns 22-4

In our 102-84 win over Sacramento four players have double doubles to really show our dominance. Marshod was the best with 34 points and 12 rebounds but Harms (19 points, 11 assists), Pin (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Sam (10 points, 10 rebounds) all did their part. Joe Adras was the best for the Kings with 16 points and 10 assists but they just didn’t have much fire power tonight.

Phoenix Suns 23-4

It’s been four years since I had that one year at Portland but whenever I go back it always feels like home. Especially when we win like we did tonight as Marshod led the way with 29 points to lead our 112-99 win. Cam went 3/12 three and 0/1 from inside the arc which was strange for 12 points. Marques Jones had 26 points as this team is completely different from the team I had with only Lou Beck still on the roster and he was traded and then traded back so it’s not the same.

Phoenix Suns 24-4

Marshod, Cam and Harms went off against the Rockets, going 32/53 for 86 points as we wipe the floor with our opponents 120-97. Sam wasn’t out of the picture either, racking up 21 rebounds in the win. James Carroll has really taken over Houston now that Cam has come to us and had 25 points before fouling out. One bit of information, do you remember Tavorris Hancock, the centre I drafted four years ago because of his crazy potential but acute rawness? Well he’s actually getting playing time in Houston, averaging 11 minutes a game for 7.6 points per contest. He’ll never get to the heights that people thought he would get to but at least he’s contributing to a team.

Phoenix Suns 25-4

Another big game from Marshod with 35 points but it was Harms who smashed the Neon as we win 128-107 behind his 33 points and 11 assists. Cam did well also with 16 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds while Sam stacked up 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks. Anthony Coley gets around but it seems that he has found a home in Nevada and had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Phoenix Suns 26-4

We have 22 games in January which nearly makes it a Hell Month and it certainly feels like it but all we can do it keep plugging along. Sam had his perfect night in our 129-83 win over Memphis. I mean perfect in that with our big three doing most of the heavy lifting in the scoring department (77 points tonight) he did all the other things so well, going 1/1 from the field for 2 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. He also kept danger man Kennedy Bracey to a 2/15 shooting night. As I said, perfect.

Phoenix Suns 27-4

It was a real team effort against the Heat as everyone played at least ten minutes and scored at least once as we trounce our opponents 109-84. Harms was our high man with 19 points but it was our defence that did the job as Mark Lyday and Rick Erickson combined for only 27 points, 15 less than their average.

Phoenix Suns 28-4

Pin banged his knee pretty badly last game so he’ll sit out the next one with Darryl taking his spot in the starting five.

It doesn’t matter if Pin’s out as we keep the streak rolling with a 41-13 third quarter to squash the Grizz 132-100. Kennedy Bracey didn’t want two bad games against us with 29 points and 10 rebounds but was countered by Cam’s 33 points. Darryl might have only had 1 point but his did have 9 rebounds. With Jason Collins out injured Olaf Milosz has been taking his minutes and had 11 points and 3 assists in 18 minutes.

Phoenix Suns 29-4

We have 14 games in 16 days. That’s just cruel. What’s cool is that we’re 8-1 in the first nine games of those 14 games.

Next up is the team that gave us that one loss for January, Seattle. Marshod has none of that, going 13/16 for 33 points as we spank the Sonics 122-101 as Sam chipped in 18 points and 16 rebounds. It’s hard to beat a team that has two players with double digit assists and that’s what we had with Cam and Harms combining for 36 points and 21 assists. Drew Martin played a lone hand with 31 points and 10 assists to beat Harms at his own game.

Phoenix Suns 30-4

It’s very rare to have two players on the same team lead the league in scoring but that’s what Orlando have going for themselves, with Juia Henchoz (29.8ppg) and Pete Edgerson (28.2ppg) being the ultimate one-two punch. They combined for only 50 points tonight but that’s all that was needed as the Magic stop our run 105-98. It was because we couldn’t stop the long ball with the Magic hitting 14 threes. Marshod was our best with 31 points but was undone by Cam’s 1/12 shooting night.

Phoenix Suns 30-5

I thought the Pacers would be doing much better than 18-20 but apparently not. We make it 18-21 as Roman goes 8/10 for 18 points in 16 minutes to win 106-98. Cam added 23 points as Sam fouled out in only 8 minutes guarding Ish Faye. Yep, he had 6 fouls in 8 minutes. Faye was fantastic with 29 points and 8 rebounds but Winston Shannon went 5/20 for 14 points and 6 turnovers while Abel Williams shot 7/19 for 15 points.

Phoenix Suns 31-5

It was always going to be a tough game against the 26-9 Spurs, especially in San Antonio. I didn’t think it was going to be so ugly as both teams shot sub .400 from the field. Dave Smith for the Spurs went 10/29 for 27 points and Mack Haston went 2/11 for 9 points which isn’t a good start for your starting back court. Our starting back court went a little better, shooting 8/21 for 29 points as we withstand overtime to win 93-90. Sam was our best with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks but fouled out again.

Phoenix Suns 32-5

Against the Warriors it was anything but close as we punch out a 31-14 first quarter to cruise to a 121-93 win. Cam was again our high man with 25 points and 5 steals as everyone got a good run out there. Carl Willis was the shining light for GSW with 20 points and 8 rebounds but Tip Rice played only 13 minutes for 1/8 shooting

Phoenix Suns 33-5

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. In Orlando’s 141-134 win over Brooklyn Juia Henchoz went into beast mode. Shooting 22/36 from the field, 6/10 from three and 10/11 from the line he lit up the Nets for 60 points and 8 rebounds for the 14th 60+ point game in the last 30 years.

This month just keeps going and going and going. We’re up against the Hornets this time and it wasn’t close with Harms shooting 12/16 for 36 points to win 116-93. Marshod didn’t shoot well but he did it often enough to get 26 points. David Stetson had a nice night with 16 points and 10 rebounds but it’s disappointing that New Orleans aren’t playing Buck Mason that much.

Phoenix Suns 34-5

Marshod had 18 points in 19 minutes, not because he was injured or had fouls, but because we won so easily 109-98 against the Celtics. Nine players had 15 or more minutes which just goes to show that this was a blow out. Rob Hearns was great for Boston with 19 assists but they shot only 44% and 18% from three.

Phoenix Suns 35-5

The Hornets put up a better fight than last time but it was still a comfortable 109-97 win. Harms was fantastic with 20 points, 11 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds as Cam led us with 24 points. There were some nice performances in tonight’s game and you can tell that this team is working flawlessly together. Lewis Jones was Nola’s best player with 23 points but they shot 43% which will never beat us.

Phoenix Suns 36-5

This team is so tired. They’ve played what seems like an entire season in just this month and we’ve still got a few games to go. That’s why I don’t blame them for getting beaten in the last quarter because we’ve run out of gas, going down to Denver by the smallest of margins 118-117. Scott Dwiggins was electric with 28 points and 9 rebounds while Derrick Culuko went 8/18 from the foul line for 24 points. Our big three had 67 points but only a handful in the last term.

Phoenix Suns 36-6

We don’t let that loss or the tiredness get us down, beating the very good Nets 111-100 to get some pep in our step. Marshod and Rich Muckle played a draw with 29 points each but it was our other guys who did the damage as Cam had 16 points, 16 assists and 7 rebounds while Sam put up a double double as well. Luigi Cannavaro and Marlin Bain both had 16 points but they shot 44% which is what we want from an opponent.

Phoenix Suns 37-6

Harms might have had 26 points but it was our bench that won the game for us as we smash the Blazers 120-86. Roman shot 9/12 for 20 points, Tarrell Gates had 12 points in 14 minutes and Darryl ripped down 14 rebounds to lead the way. Marques Jones was the only player who did anything for Portland with 36 points and 11 rebounds as even with his good shooting the team went 38% from the floor.

Phoenix Suns 38-6

Finally, it’s our last game of the month. After 22 games we can finally shut the door on January. So it was nice to finish with a win as Cam had 27 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds to beat Cleveland 119-109. Harms also had a nice game with 21 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds and even though the Cavs actually shot better than us (49% to 46%) we forced 18 turnovers which gave us extra opportunities.

Phoenix Suns 39-6

Who would have thought that with 22 games in a month we would go 19-3 and increase our lead? We’re now seven games ahead of the Spurs and eight from the third placed Mavericks. The Warriors are looking for another number one draft pick at 13-34. I forgot that we still have a first round draft pick owed to us from Houston via the Cameron Brown/Arthimus Smallwod deal which is good because they’re sitting at 13-31.

The Pistons have taken the top spot in the East at 36-15 but that’s only because they’ve played more games because Brooklyn are at 29-14 and have lost less games. Boston have dropped to the bottom of the conference at 12-40.

Second Round of NBA Draft Prospects –
1. PF Delawn Hooks (High School), Senior, 6’11”, 219lbs
2. SF Marcus Jenkins (High School), Senior, 6’10”, 200lbs
3. SG Derion Perez (Arizona), Sophomore, 6’4”, 202lbs
4. PF Mathias Wabbes (Belgium), 19 years old, 6’11”, 253lbs
5. SG Vitali Gurevich (Russia), 19 years old, 6’7”, 196lbs

Thoughts – This draft looks GOOD. I still don’t know how Rashon Woods is still #6 pick whatever. This has some great talent in it and many teams are already starting to pull back to get a better chance of high picks.

January Player of the Month – Juia Henchoz, Orlando Magic – 32.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.

January Rookie of the Month – Jabari McPherson, Milwaukee Bucks – 16.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.

No trades in January so hopefully teams are gearing up for a bumper trade deadline.

We start February with an up and down game. Up because we beat the Blazers 131-86 after shooting 62% from the field with Pin and Sam combining for 30 points, 20 rebounds and 7 blocks. The bad news is that Cam strained his hamstring and will be out for a week. Roman will be starting at SG for the time being. Marques Jones had 16 points for the losers.

Phoenix Suns 40-6

Another interesting game over in Atlanta as Jordan Williamson came off the bench for 42 minutes after John Meliet fouled out and shot 26/34 for 57 points and 10 rebounds. I think this is the most points for a bench player ever so good on Jordan Williamson, who will be starting for the Hawks soon enough.

Roman has 16 points and 10 rebounds in the start as we take care of the Riders 99-91. Harms led the game with 34 points while Sam ripped down 16 rebounds. Cliff Havens had 26 points for San Diego but Apolinary Dembowski and Ryan Holcomb only shot 9/26 from the field.

Phoenix Suns 41-6

The Nuggets come to town and Cam is fully healthy. He didn’t do much though, going 1/6 for 4 points but we won anyway 116-85. The reason was Harms who put up 24 points and 9 assists while Roman didn’t mope on the bench with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Derrick Culuko was the best for Denver with 15 points.

Phoenix Suns 42-6

That’s more like it. Cam goes for 28 points and 7 assists to get a bit more respect from his opponents as we sweep the Warriors aside 102-91. Tarrell Gates had a nice cameo with 11 points on 5/5 shooting in only 6 minutes. Darnell Kimbrough is still slogging away out there in California with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals to pace the Warriors.

Phoenix Suns 43-6

Our last game before the All Star break was a simple 112-94 beat down of the Sonics. Harms had 34 points as it was Cam who did the passing with 20 points and 14 assists. Mitch Edwards had 23 points for the Sonics as they shot 44% to our 58%.

Phoenix Suns 44-6

Detroit’s Derrick Augustus was just too good in the Slam Dunk Contest, taking care of the first round and then Indiana’s Lamar Traylor in the final 60-51. We didn’t have any contestants in the Long Distance Shootout but Winston Shannon was there so it’s like we sort of did. He didn’t do to well as San Antonio’s Mack Haston hit four out of the last five balls (including the money ball) to beat Atlanta’s Curtis Mueller by a single point.

We have three participants in the Rookie/Sophomore game with Sam and Pin suiting up for the second year team and Olaf bringing the noise for the rookies. They didn’t do much with Sam and Pin having 12 points and 10 rebounds between them (OK they might have done something) while Olaf added 7 points. That was small fry compared to the rest of the game as the sophomores won comfortably 150-127. Marcus Settles took home the MVP award with 25 points, 12 assists and 6 rebounds and was helped by Herb Celuck’s 20 points in 20 minutes. Tip Rice also showed what he’s made of with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jabari McPherson was the stand out for the rookies (no surprise there) with 24 points and 8 rebounds but they were just hammered all night.

I thought we would have three All Stars but apparently having the best record in the league, by far, only lets us have one. Michael Harmon came off the bench for 21 points in 18 minutes as the West won in a crazy close game 161-159 after Zan Tepavac hit a shot two steps into the three point line to win it. He was named All Star MVP with 24 points and 8 rebounds while Nathan Gordon and Joe Adras put up 20 points, 16 assists and 11 rebounds in the starting back court. Winston Shannon had a blinder for the East with 34 points and 12 assists while two other ex-Suns had great games as well with Rich Muckle putting up 16 points and 10 assists and Ryan Cornell rounded out another player with double digit dimes with 3 points and 10 assists.

Western Conference All Star Starters
Joe Adras, Sacramento Kings (7th selection)
Nathan Gordon, Los Angeles Lakers (3rd selection)
James Carroll, Houston Rockets (3rd selection)
Zan Tepavac, Oklahoma City Thunder (3rd selection)
Marques Jones, Portland Trailblazers (1st selection)

Western Conference All Star Reserves
Michael Harmon, Phoenix Suns (8th selection)

Shaun Tebbs, Dallas Mavericks (2nd selection)
Nathaniel Jackson, Utah Jazz (9th selection)
Mack Haston, San Antonio Spurs (4th selection)
Lou Beck, Portland Trailblazers (7th selection)
Steve Howard, Minnesota Timberwolves (1st selection)
Glen Abrams, Nevada Neon (1st selection)

Eastern Conference All Star Starters
Winston Shannon, Indiana Pacers (1st selection)
Pete Edgerson, Orlando Magic (4th selection)
Rich Muckle, Brooklyn Nets (1st selection)
Reggie Smith, New York Knicks (10th selection)
Rick Erickson, Miami Heat (3rd selection)

Eastern Conference All Star Reserves
Kurt Sutton, New York Knicks (1st selection)
Alan Patton, Boston Celtics (3rd selection)
Ryan Cornell, Brooklyn Nets (1st selection)
Daniel Brazzle, Toronto Raptors (2nd selection)
Lewis Jones, New Orleans Hornets (1st selection)
Deon Fox, Charlotte Bobcats (1st selection)
Luigi Cannavaro, Brooklyn Nets (2nd selection)

Marshod and Cam didn’t like being snubbed from the All Star game and unfortunately for Nevada, they took it out on the Neon with a 136-102 win. The two snubs combined for 67 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds to truly show the league they deserved to be there. Arthur Carey had 21 points for the losers but the Neon’s all star, Glen Abrams, only had 9 points.

Phoenix Suns 45-6

The next game was a bit closer as Charlotte’s all star had something to say as we withstand a spirited fightback for a 117-112 win. Marshod and Cam were again the stars with 55 points and 15 rebounds while Deon Fox for the Bobcats had 20 points and 8 rebounds. It was a scrappy game and we won because of our free throws, hitting 34/45.

Phoenix Suns 46-6

When Juia Henchoz shoots 5/18 you know the Magic are in trouble and even though Pete Edgerson gave them an early 15 point lead, we were just too strong and won 105-95. Harms was close to a triple double with 22 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds which made up for Cam’s 3/14 shooting night.

Phoenix Suns 47-6

Well that’s annoying. Chris Howard and Matt Hackett combined for 54 points in their best Jack Dawkins/Terry McKenzie impersonation as the Mavericks give us our seventh loss of the season with a 122-103 game. Shaun Tebbs had 20 points and 10 assists and he’s really loving it there in Dallas. Cam was our top scorer with 20 points which just isn’t that much considering the talent we have on this roster.

Phoenix Susn 47-7

We back it up with a 110-97 win over Miami to not drop our heads as Harms leads the way with 27 points and 8 assists. Darryl had a really nice game as Pin fouled out guarding Rick Erickson with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks off the bench. Erickson of course had his usual fantastic game with 26 points and 14 rebounds but they’re never going to get anywhere starting 6’6” SF Gellies Haswell at PG.

Phoenix Suns 48-7

Our last game of the month was as comfortable as comfortable can be, keeping the Wizards to 37% shooting to grind out a 107-81 win. Harms had 18 points and 8 assists while Sam and Pin combined for 33 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. Kurt Lewis was the best for Washington with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 49-7

The Spurs had a shocking month, putting them down to third in the conference and giving us a huge gap at the top of the West. Dallas are into second place at 40-18 and I’m sure that we’ll rest our starters very early on. Golden State are 16-44 but the biggest story is Houston in second last place at 17-39 as we have their first round pick which seems will be very high.

Detroit are also a long way back from us at 44-18 which means barring a catastrophe, we are odds on to win the home court advantage. Chicago have jumped into second place at 39-19 while Boston are sitting firmly at the bottom at 14-47.

Third Round of NBA Draft Prospects –
1. PF Delawn Hooks (High School), Senior, 6’11”, 219lbs
2. PF Mathias Wabbes (Belgium), 19 years old, 6’11”, 253lbs
3. SF Marcus Jenkins (High School), Senior, 6’10”, 200lbs
4. SG Vitali Gurevich (Russia), 19 years old, 6’7”, 196lbs
5. SG Derion Perez (Arizona), Sophomore, 6’4”, 202lbs

Thoughts – I really like Wabbes as he has all the skills to be a bonafide offensive star in this league. Gurevich isn’t as polished and will need a few years in the NBA to get going. Otherwise, this draft still looks the goods.

February Player of the Month – Nathan Gordon, Los Angeles Lakers – 33.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.0 blocks per game.

February Rookie of the Month – Jabari McPherson, Milwaukee Bucks – 14.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.

Oh my God what a horrible trade deadline. Guess how many deals were made? One. Yep, one and it was a snoozer. C’mon people!

Atlanta trade:
C Erik Morris

Golden State trade:
PF Carl Willis
2042 2nd round pick

Winner – Both. Yawn, who cares?

We play the Spurs first up and everyone is saying that they’re dropping. Well they were dropping against us, dropping buckets as they shot 58% from the field to obliterate us 133-104. Moshe Nagid, the #29 pick in the last draft has been fantastic this season and had 24 points tonight, helped by Mack Haston’s 21 points and 8 assists. Harms was our best with 21 points but Cam shot 1/6 while Marshod Anderson went 7/19.

Phoenix Suns 49-8

Our revenge is swift and absolute as the Kings bear our wrath with a 130-79 shellacking. Marshod was back on game with 32 points while Harms and Cam combined for 37 points and 20 assists. Sac-Town shot 34% and their starters were horrible as the likes of Joe Adras (4/11), Malachi Felton (2/12), Diego Acosta (5/13), David Baxley (5/17) and Chris Horvath (1/7) shot them out of the game.

Phoenix Suns 50-8

Yay, 50 wins!

It’s two in a row as Marshod was again our best with 32 points and 8 rebounds and finally Cam got his shot going with 19 points. Sam had a blinder as well with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. James Carroll and Arthimus Smallwood thought they could win by themselves with 55 points but the rest were garbage.

Phoenix Suns 51-8

In a low scoring game where neither team cracked the ton, we busted out a 29-19 last term to beat Minnesota 99-83. Harms and Cam had 48 points and 19 assists while Sam and Pin also did double damage with 28 rebounds. Justin Marshall was the best for the Wolves with 21 points and 8 rebounds and even though Steve Howard grabbed 15 rebounds he went 4/15 for only 11 points.

Phoenix Suns 52-8

OKC are no match for us, especially when Marshod shoots 15/24 for 35 points as we win by exactly 20 points, 118-98. It was the usual suspects with Harms having 21 points and Pin grabbing 12 rebounds. Zan Tepavac had 27 points and 8 rebounds for the Thunder but Axel Rancik broke his toe last month and had no help.

Phoenix Suns 53-8

With Brandon Bailey of all people going to town on us with 30 points the Thunder must have thought that they were going to win for sure, but not so fast. Even though they got out to a 13 point lead in the third the cracks started to show. Zan Tepavac had 24 points but couldn’t hit a free throw to save himself, going 8/17 for the game. Adonis Molnar had 18 assists but fouled out in the last. Chri Morrison also fouled out. With all of those things going in our favour all we needed was a spark, and that spark was Marshod Anderson. Our superstar scorer poured in the buckets and finished with 40 points to lead us to a 117-114 win. Cam also tore it up with 23 points and 13 assists which made up for Harms’ 2/6 night.

Phoenix Suns 54-8

Thinking about it, I never want to lose to Philadelphia ever again. If we do I’ll be very disappointed. Luckily they still suck and we won easy 101-90 as it was never in doubt. Harms had a much better game, going 12/14 for 25 points and 9 assists as Marshod and Cam chipped in 45 points for good measure. DJ Brown was the best for the Sixers with 22 points but they are still sucking, especially after trading away their best potential player in Jonathan Roland.

Phoenix Suns 55-8

The Thunder were after revenge but got a face full instead as we rout them 105-70. Harms was again the star with 22 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds while Sam put up 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Zan Tepavac hit all of his two free throws for 16 points but got no other help.

Phoenix Suns 56-8

San Diego are without Cliff Havens again (torn Achilles) so that means it’s a Phoenix win as Harms (42 points) and Cam (31 points, 10 assists) go berserk on the Riders for a 124-116 win. The rest of the team might has well have had a rest as these two did everything and anything to get the win. Apolinary Dembowski was the best for the losers with 23 points and 9 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 57-8

The Warriors are the worst team in the league right now and we’re the best so it’s going to be an easy win for us, right? Right! We outscore them in every quarter to win comfortably 113-95. Cam had 29 points and 9 assists while Pin had one of his best games of his career with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Tip Rice is going to be the best centre in the league someday and showed it with 19 points and 3 blocks. Will the Warriors have enough talent around him to take advantage? Let’s hope so for his sake.

Phoenix Suns 58-8

The Knicks are another team that we shouldn’t ever lose to again and we did it in style, keeping them to 34% from the field to take a 99-72 win. Harms was a man among boy with 27 points while Marshod added 23 points and 8 rebounds. Reggie Smith is hating it there in New York and shooting everything that comes to him with 15 points on 6/19 shooting. Consider him gone when his contract runs out this off season.

Phoenix Suns 59-8

That’s eleven wins in a row as Marshod and Harms making light work of the Neon for a 116-104 win. Two of the three stars had 54 points with Cam ‘only’ collecting 17 points with 8 assists. Arthur Carey had 27 points for Nevada while another AC, Anthony Coley added 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 60-8

Woo, 60 wins!

Let’s make it an even dozen as we beat the Hawks 114-98. Cam didn’t like being left out of the ‘star’ category last game and put up a huge 38 points and 8 assists which dwarfed everyone else. Roman did well with 13 points in only 6 minutes off the bench. John Meliet led the way with 22 points (and 6 turnovers) but Michael McQuay tore his Achilles about two weeks ago which is heartbreaking for him and the Hawks.

Phoenix Suns 61-8

We go to Atlanta two days later and put on a huge show, shooting 65% from the field for a massive 148-116 victory. Harms, Cam and Marshod combined for 86 points, 20 assists and 11 rebounds as this game was over at half time when the score was 84-53. Jordan Williamson and John Meliet had 43 points for the Hawks but only pulled down 7 rebounds between them which is worrying for two centres.

Phoenix Suns 62-8

Our last game of the month was a simple 125-101 win over my old team the Knicks. Cam was close to a triple double with 32 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds while Harms added 22 points and 14 assists. Sam was ultra efficient in this game, going 10/10 for 20 points and 7 rebounds, beating Reggie Smith who only went 5/20 for 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 63-8

Going 15-1 in a month is pretty damn good in any sense and for us it’s opened up a whopping 17 game lead over the 44-25 Spurs for second in the West. Dallas are two games behind them and with a whole month to play we’ve got conference HCA. Golden State are last at 17-56 and will be hoping to boost their draft chances going forward.

The Bulls have jumped to the top of the East at 53-21 while Brooklyn are breathing down their necks at 50-21. That means that we’ll have home court advantage for the whole playoffs so our big three will be getting a lot of time off next month. Memphis has dropped to the bottom of the conference at 23-52.

Phoenix Top Points

4. PF Mathias Wabbes (Belgium), 19 years old, 6’11”, 253lbs
5. SG Derion Perez (Arizona), Sophomore, 6’4”, 202lbs

Thoughts – Not only is this draft really good at the top, it’s got talent down the list as well. Guys like Michael Porter (#6), Rashon Woods (#7) and Quin Crosby (#12) to name a few can be real stars.

March Player of the Month – Juia Henchoz, Orlando Magic – 29.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steal and 0.3 blocks per game.

March Rookie of the Month – Joey Peterson, Miami Heat – 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.

With our lead insurmountable I have a talk with Coach Jones and we decide to rest our big three for the finals. That means that Nyah Elliott and Eddie Grace come back from the D-League while Sam and Pin will still play because they’re young and want to run around. Our new starters are now Olaf Milosz/Nyah Elliott/Romanos Demosthenous/Sam Russell/Pin-zhen Yuan with an average age of 22 years old.

We win our first game! The Neon fell in a heap after the first half as Pin led us with 21 points and 8 rebounds for a 108-96 win. Olaf was great with 16 points and 8 assists which was matched by Nyah. Good first game for the young buck. Athur Carey was the only Nevada player to shoot better than 50% with 29 points and 14 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 64-8

The Cavs were just too experienced for us, especially in the crunch time as they beat us 92-88. Kerry Williams had 25 points and 9 rebounds while Frank Slaughter had 18 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Nyah and Olaf both went 6/16 for 15 points with Nyah adding 7 rebounds and his back court buddy had 6 assists.

Phoenix Suns 64-9

We don’t let that game get us down as Roman did his best Marshod impersonation with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks as we outlast the Bucks 113-108. Nyah loves shooting the ball it seems with 19 points on 19 shots while Darryl had 9 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Kenneth Long is enjoying himself in Milwaukee and had 22 points tonight but was completely undone by Jack Dawkins’ 3/20 night.

Phoenix Suns 65-9

Pin had a fantastic game with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks but was let down by his 7 turnovers and 1/7 FT shooting as we lose to the Celtics 110-101. Ipolitas Margolis had 20 points and 9 rebounds for the victors as they won because we turned the ball over 24 times which is just too much.

Phoenix Suns 65-10

After 25 points you would think that Pin would be over the moon but it could have been so much more as he shot 5/16 from the foul line as we still win 111-102 over Toronto. Nyah, Olaf, Jason Collins, Darryl and Keith all get into double figures in a great team effort. Joe West had 32 points for the Raptors but BJ Watson only had 11 points and 5 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 66-10

The Bobcats are just too good for us without our big three as they smash us at our home 118-93. Deon Fox led them with 25 points an 8 rebounds while Tim King added 22 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Nyah had his best game of his young career with 26 points on 10/16 shooting but Roman and Pin shot 9/37 between them.

Phoenix Suns 66-11

Another team that is too good for us but that doesn’t stop us from causing the upset as Pin put up 24 points and 17 rebounds while Sam blocked a whopping 11 shots as we hold our nerve to take it 102-99. Olaf added 13 points and 9 assists and we still won somehow after turning the ball over 22 times. Shaun Tebbs was the best for Dallas with 24 points and 7 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns 67-11

That game must have gone to our head because we lose a very winnable game to Denver 112-105. Scott Dwiggins seems to play like Michael McQuay whenever he plays us with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Roman was our best with 18 points but fouled out in only 29 minutes. It was our fouls that doomed us this time as the Nugs went to the line 23 times more than us.

Phoenix Suns 67-12

Nyah Elliott strains his hamstring in our 124-113 loss to Chicago. DJ Forbes is still a force to be reckoned with as he put up 29 points and 9 assists while Kevin Morrison schooled Pin with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Roman was the top Sun with 24 points but again it was our turnovers that killed us with 22 on the game. Sam was the worst offender with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 7 blocks and 7 turnovers.

Phoenix Suns 67-13

Our second last game of the season was unfortunate as we played well but just couldn’t get over the hump, going down to Sacramento 123-119. Joe Adras showed how good he is with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists while Diego Acosta added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Pin might have led us with 21 points and 11 rebounds but it was Sam who was our star with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 8 blocks.

Phoenix Suns 67-14

We end the season on a good note as Jason Collins took home player of the game honours with 18 points and 7 assists as we beat the Rockets 102-99 to give us better draft odds. Sam, Pin and Darryl combined for 36 rebounds and 8 blocks which is exactly what I want from my big men, even if they shot 10/31 from the field. James Carroll had 29 points for the losers but they shot 43% for the game.

Phoenix Suns 68-14

Western Conference Final Standings
1 – Phoenix Suns – 68-14 (.829)

2 – San Antonio Spurs – 54-28 (.659)
3 – Dallas Mavericks – 49-33 (.598)

7 – Sacramento Kings – 41-41 (.500)
8 – Seattle Supersonics – 40-42 (.488)

This year's rookie class seemed to actually be quite good. I've never had 2 rookies with more than 16 efficiency at once.

You're right, I never noticed how rare that is. I looked back through this thread and the last time that two rookies had 16+ efficiency was in 2031 (11 years ago) when the two Carlsson brothers were rookies which was a major abnormality seeing as they were 33 years old and user created.

They weren't that far away, only four games ahead of last placed New York. It's been seven years since the Sixers have lost less than 50 games.
