Before we let the guys go and enjoy the All-Star weekend, we let Cory Higgins and Quincy Acy know they'll be spending some time in the D-League, purely to gain some more experience. Acy has played sparingly for us, while Higgins hasn't even suited up for us yet this season, so it's only fair to let them get some burn.

Slam Dunk Contest

Competitors

Gerald Henderson - Charlotte Bobcats
Derrick Brown - Charlotte Bobcats

Jan Vesley - Washington Wizards

Our very own Derrick Brown made it to the final dunk-off against Perry Jones III, but unfortunately it was PJ-III who got the nod and became the 2012/13 All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Champion.

3-Point Shootout

Competitors

Ray Allen - Orlando Magic
Mo Williams - New York Knicks
Chauncey Billups - Los Angeles Clippers
Arron Afflalo - Boston Celtics
Jordan Farmar - Atlanta Hawks
Jerryd Bayless - Toronto Raptors
Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors
Marcus Thornton - Sacramento Kings

A few names here you wouldn't expect, but in the end it was the greatest 3 point shooter of all-time, Ray Allen, who scored 17 in the final, after facing off and beating Mo Williams and Stephen Curry.

With All-Star weekend now done, there was a lot of focus on the Feb 22nd Trade Deadline for every team.

Our front office did discuss looking to try and move Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon, mainly because of the bad contracts they both have, and their role, or rather lack of a real role on this current roster. IF we were to try and move either player, we then also had to decide whether we try to stack up on future draft picks, try to find equal or better value for them, or whether to trade them for expiring contracts to free up more cap space for the future.

We quickly ruled out the idea of taking on some more expirers. Lets face it, we're not going to be in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, nor any other big name free agents.

In the end, no deal was made by us. We did shop Gordon and Thomas around, and had brief discussions with Indiana about David West, and also Portland about an increasingly unhappy LaMarcus Aldridge, but we simply didn't have the assets to make a fair deal, without giving up a bunch of our very valuable looking draft picks. We really pushed for a deal for Aldridge, who was on their trading block, but whatever deal we threw at Portland, they didn't budge. I don't blame them either.

Below are just some of the main trades that took place just before the deadline:

Knicks Trade: Jason Kidd + 2nd Rounder (2013)
Nets Trade: Carlos Delfino

Thoughts: So Jason Kidd gets his wish to play with Deron Williams afterall. Which makes me wonder why he didn't sign for Brooklyn in the first place. New York had too many PGs, and needed a solid backup for Carmelo.

76ers Trade: Evan Turner
Suns Trade: Channing Frye + 2nd Rounder (2013)

Thoughts: Odd trade for the Sixers, who have been playing well this season. They have a real logjam at Power Forward now, and now have a rather thin backcourt. Frye isn't on a great contact either. Suns win this one easily, absolutely puzzling trade for the Sixers.

Magic Trade: Glen Davis + Lester Hudson
Blazers Trade: Raymond Felton + 2nd Rounder (2013)

Thoughts: Doesn't make a whole lot of sense for either team. Blazers are stacked at PF spot now. Orlando have been playing well too, so it's surprising they've done this.

Spurs Trade: Manu Ginobili + Matt Bonner
Bulls Trade: Luol Deng + 2nd Rounder (2013)

Thoughts: Chicago have been struggling thus far this season for whatever reason, and get a great expiring contract in Ginobili, who will definitely help them short-term as well. Spurs are as ever looking to make a championship run, and while they don't really get any better, they get a little younger. Good trade for both I think.

Clippers Trade: Eric Bledsoe + Charlie Villanueva
Nets Trade: Gerald Wallace

Thoughts: Bledsoe was getting lost in the rotation behind CP3 and Billups, and it's no surprise they wanted to offload Charlie V. Gerald is an expirer, and provides short-term help on a strong playoff team looking to make the jump to championship contenders.

Magic Trade: Jameer Nelson
Nuggets Trade: Al Harrington

Thoughts: Magic picking up Raymond Felton made Nelson somewhat expendable. Harrington fills a need for Orlando too. Don't see too much benefit for Denver.

Portland Trail Blazers (16-36) @ Charlotte Bobcats (11-41) - Feb 21st 2013

Well, Kemba Walker certainly didn't lose any momentum through the All-Star break! Another monster game from the 2nd year player, who is really coming to the fore and emerging as a star for us, after a so-so start to the year. MKG also had a monstrous game for us, unbelievably good. Just what we wanted after the break!

Final Score: Blazers 91-105 Bobcats

POTG: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 27 pts, 2 rebs, 9 ast, 5 stl

Notable Mentions: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 24 pts, 15 rebs, 8 ast
LaMarcus Aldridge (POR) - 23 pts, 6 rebs, 3 stl

Philadelphia 76ers (36-17) @ Charlotte Bobcats (12-41) - Feb 24th 2013

Not a bad game really, but we came out very flat at the start of the 3rd Quarter, which cost us any chance of winning this game. Despite losing Evan Turner, 76ers still looked pretty strong.

Final Score: 76ers 109-97 Bobcats

POTG: Andre Iguodala (PHI) - 19 pts, 12 rebs, 6 ast, 2 blk

Notable Mentions: Channing Frye (PHI) - 18 pts, 4 rebs, 3 ast, 2 blk
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 18 pts, 8 rebs, 3 ast, 2 stl, 3 blk

Charlotte Bobcats (12-42) @ Orlando Magic (37-17) - Feb 25th 2013

Another team that were active before the trade deadline, Orlando were just too strong for us. Dwight Howard in particular made Andre Drummond's night absolute hell, and he fouled out of the game after just 20 minutes of court time.

Final Score: Bobcats 80-108 Magic

POTG: Dwight Howard (ORL) - 27 pts, 10 rebs, 5 stl, 3 blk

Notable Mentions: Ray Allen (ORL) - 16 pts, 3 ast, 3 stl
Derrick Brown (CHA) - 16 pts, 4 rebs

Detroit Pistons (21-33) @ Charlotte Bobcats (12-43) - Feb 27th 2013

Greg Monroe, the All-Star once again went off against us, and we rarely had an answer for him individually, but a really balanced scoring effort from our guys saw us take this tight game by 4 points, a good character building win I think. AD bounced back nicely after the last game beatdown from Dwight Howard. Odd game to win though. We shot the ball poorly, were killed on the boards, but Detroit's turnovers were what killed the game for them.

Final Score: Pistons 94-98 Bobcats

POTG: Andre Drummond (CHA) - 14 pts, 8 rebs, 2 ast, 5 blk, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Greg Monroe (DET) - 32 pts, 17 rebs, 2 blk
O.J. Mayo (DET) - 20 pts, 4 rebs, 2 blk, 3 stl
Kemba Walker (CHA) - 17 pts, 4 rebs, 6 ast
Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 15 pts, 10 rebs

Charlotte Bobcats (13-43) @ Washington Wizards (25-32) - Mar 2nd 2013

Really great road win for us against a tough Wizards team, who are improving all the time. Defensively we smothered them all game long. Defence is something the Bobcats of a few seasons ago took pride in, and were one of the best teams in the league at that end, which included their first Playoff appearance, so it's nice to see our young guys hopefully adopting that hard-nosed defensive approach which is needed to succeed in this league.

Final Score: Bobcats 92-78 Wizards

POTG: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 23 pts, 6 rebs

Notable Mentions: John Wall (WAS) - 20 pts, 6 rebs, 5 ast
Kevin Seraphin (WAS) - 17 pts, 10 rebs, 5 blk
Kemba Walker CHA) - 13 pts, 14 rebs, 5 ast

Boston Celtics (27-31) @ Charlotte Bobcats (14-43) - Mar 3rd 2013

Was a close game most of the way, but we looked very flat in the last quarter for whatever reason, and we let them drop 30 on us in the final 12 minutes, which made the game a no contest in the end.

Final Score: Celtics 105-90 Bobcats

POTG: Eric Gordon (BOS) - 34 pts, 6 rebs, 2 ast, 2 blk

Notable Mentions: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 26 pts, 7 rebs
Brook Lopez (BOS) - 23 pts, 7 rebs, 3 ast
Rajon Rondo (BOS) - 11 pts, 7 rebs, 13 ast, 5 stl

Chicago Bulls (26-32) @ Charlotte Bobcats (14-44) - Mar 5th 2013

We were never in this one, we got absolutely decimated. D-Rose caught fire, and we had no answer.

Final Score: Bulls 117-88 Bobcats

POTG: Derrick Rose (CHI) - 30 pts, 3 rebs, 11 ast,

Notable Mentions: Taj Gibson (CHI) - 26 pts, 12 rebs, 3 ast
Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 24 pts, 2 rebs, 2 stl

Sacramento Kings (37-23) @ Charlotte Bobcats (14-45) - Mar 7th 2013

The Kings are becoming the OKC Thunder of a few seasons ago, going from one of the worst teams in the league, to becoming a dead cert for a Playoff spot in a very short time. DeMarcus Cousins is finally realising his potential, and the Kings have let some of last season's other knuckleheads go, and replaced them with good character guys. We gave them a good game, and Andre Drummond had a real breakout game, actually outplaying All-Star Cousins, but in the end we didn't have enough to get it done. Some pleasing things to take from this game though.

Final Score: Kings 116-109 Bobcats

POTG: Nicolas Batum (SAC) - 22 pts, 4 rebs, 2 ast, 4 blk, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Andre Drummond (CHA) - 27 pts, 10 rebs, 4 ast, 2 stl, 6 blk
Isaiah Thomas (SAC) - 18 pts, 4 rebs, 5 ast
DeMarcus Cousins (SAC) - 17 pts, 11 rebs, 2 stl, 3 blk

Charlotte Bobcats (14-46) @ New York Knicks (34-28) - Mar 9th 2013

Wow, what a win! Our young guys went into MSG and really put in a great effort. We took the game over in the final quarter, which left the Knicks, and their passionate fans shell-shocked. Kemba and Gerald led the way for us all game long. 'Melo fouled out of the game with about 8 minutes to go, a crucial factor in us taking over the game in the 4th.

Final Score: Bobcats 104-96 Knicks

POTG: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 23 pts, 5 rebs, 2 ast, 3 blk

Notable Mentions: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 23 pts, 4 ast
Carmelo Anthony (NYK) - 27 pts, 4 rebs
Tyson Chandler (NYK) - 20 pts, 12 rebs

D-League Update

We decided not to send Quincy Acy down to the D-League in the end, and his role is slowly increasing as part of our team. Cory Higgins is there though, playing for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.

There are definitely some growing pains for Higgins, who isn't really showing out, which is what we hoped he would be capable of doing. 9 games down, he's averaging 34 minutes a game as a starter, and his stats are 8.2PPG, 4.9RPG, 3.3APG and 1SPG. He's also having a torrid time shooting the ball. Hopefully he can show some more, but right now he doesn't look NBA ready, which is a shame to see.

Charlotte Bobcats (15-46) @ Chicago Bulls (29-32) - Mar 10th 2013

Since the All-Star weekend, the Bulls are on a mini recovery session right now after their horrible start to the season, so we knew we'd be in for a game, especially remembering the beatdown they gave us just 5 days previously. The acquisition of Manu Ginobili has helped the team no end, and he really gave us hell in this one. We did keep it close all game long, but Manu hit some big shots down the stretch.

Final Score: Bobcats 110-118 Bulls

POTG: Derrick Rose (CHI) - 26 pts, 4 rebs, 12 ast, 2 blk, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Manu Ginobili (CHI) - 27 pts, 5 rebs, 4 ast
Derrick Brown (CHA) - 26 pts, 4 rebs, 2 ast, 2 stl
Matt Bonner (CHI) - 22 pts, 5 rebs, 2 stl

Indiana Pacers (20-43) @ Charlotte Bobcats (15-47) - Mar 12th 2013

Disappointing performance all-round against a team we are more than capable of people judging by their struggles this season. Kemba Walker went off for 34 points, but the rest of the guys were lagging behind.

Final Score: Pacers 110-91 Bobcats

POTG: David West (IND) - 22 pts, 11 rebs, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 34 pts, 5 rebs, 2 ast
Paul George (IND) - 22 pts, 3 rebs, 3 stl
Danny Granger (IND) - 17 pts, 14 rebs, 2 astl, 4 blk

Toronto Raptors (15-49) @ Charlotte Bobcats (15-48) - Mar 14th 2013

Officially the two worst teams in the league right now. Number #1 draft pick battle pretty much! We were by far the better team this time though, and saw some good performances from a few players.

Final Score: Raptors 82-105 Bobcats

POTG: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 26 pts, 4 rebs, 4 ast, 3 stl

Notable Mentions: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 16 pts, 6 rebs, 5 ast, 2 stl
Jerryd Bayless (TOR) - 16 pts, 4 rebs, 3 ast
Andre Drummond (CHA) - 15 pts, 8 rebs, 3 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk

Oklahoma City Thunder (49-16) @ Charlotte Bobcats (16-48) - Mar 17th 2013

We were never in this game against potential championship contenders OKC.

Final Score: Thunder 106-72 Bobcats

POTG: Kevin Durant (OKC) - 23 pts, 10 rebs, 2 blk

Notable Mentions: Russell Westbrook (OKC) - 23 pts, 5 rebs, 8 ast

I don't know if this has been asked/answered, but do you play through every single game? Like, in the play-by-play mode?

Also, congrats on the big Rookie-Sophomore game! One suggestion though: instead of putting (ROO) and (SOP), but their actual team. We know who the rookies and sophomores are, and even if we didn't, it's more interesting to know what team they play for in the NBA, rather than their class.

Nope, I sim every game. I just read the box-scores, and add in a few extra details in some of the write-ups. Purely cosmetic.

Interesting. You definitely have some talented players but a lot of work to do before you are a winner

Charlotte Bobcats (16-49) @ Philadelphia 76ers (42-21) - Mar 18th 2013

A really embarrassing effort from our guys. Our top scorer was Andre Drummond with 12 points, and we lost by 31. Dreadful effort.

Final Score: Bobcats 74-105 76ers

POTG: Louis Williams (PHI) - 20 pts, 6 rebs, 3 ast, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Jrue Holiday (PHI) - 17 pts, 3 rebs, 6 ast

Charlotte Bobcats (16-50) @ Toronto Raptors (15-53) - Mar 21st 2013

A chance for Toronto to get their own back on us, and try and catch us back up in the race to avoid the worst record in the league. Fortunately, our coaching staff gave them a real roasting in practice and in pre-game after the embarrassing effort against Philly, and we took them down without much trouble. More balanced scoring effort definitely helped us again.

Final Score: Bobcats 102-91 Raptors

POTG: Derrick Brown (CHA) - 25 pts, 6 rebs

Notable Mentions: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 16 pts, 5 rebs
Amir Johnson (TOR) - 18 pts, 3 rebs, 2 blk

Charlotte Bobcats (17-50) @ Brooklyn Nets (26-42) - Mar 23rd 2013

The Brooklyn Nets have been a disappointment this season after initial promise, and it'll take an almighty effort to get themselves into the 8th spot in the playoffs. Their prospects look even bleaker now after we finished them fairly comfortably. Deron Williams was their one bright spot. Derrick Brown earned his second straight player of the game, looking really good for us.

POTG: Derrick Brown (CHA) - 20 pts, 5 rebs, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Deron Williams (BRO) - 30 pts, 7 rebs, 4 ast
Kemba Walker (CHA) - 17 pts, 5 rebs, 6 ast
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 17 pts, 6 rebs, 3 ast

Charlotte Bobcats (18-50) @ Detroit Pistons (26-42) - Mar 25th 2013

Our short road trip ends with a third straight win, really pleasing effort once again. We limited the monster Greg Monroe as much as we could, and it really helped.

Final Score: Bobcats 105-94 Pistons

POTG: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 28 pts, 11 rebs, 3 ast, 4 stl

Notable Mentions: Greg Monroe (DET) - 20 pts, 11 rebs, 4 ast, 2 stl
Ben Gordon (CHA) - 15 pts, 5 rebs
Andre Drummond (CHA) - 14 pts, 6 rebs, 2 blk

San Antonio Spurs (46-23) @ Charlotte Bobcats (19-50) - Mar 26th 2013

Four straight wins would be unheard of in Charlotte, and if we wanted it, we'd have to take out the Spurs. We couldn't do it, but gave a good account of ourselves, but by the final quarter we were done.

Final Score: Spurs 116-99 Bobcats

POTG: DaJuan Blair (SAS) - 24 pts, 9 rebs, 2 ast

Notable Mentions: Derrick Brown (CHA) - 23 pts, 6 rebs, 3 stl
Jason Terry (SAS) - 18 pts, 5 rebs, 5 ast, 2 stl

Charlotte Bobcats (19-51) @ Cleveland Cavaliers (24-47) - Mar 28th 2013

Kyrie V Kemba has gone the way of Kyrie every game so far we've played against Cleveland, and today was no different. We kept close most of the game, but Irving really stepped up at the end.

Final Score: Bobcats 80-87 Cavaliers

POTG: Kyrie Irving (CLE) - 27 pts, 2 rebs, 7 ast, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Derrick Brown (CHA) - 20 pts, 7 rebs
Anderson Varejao (CLE) - 17 pts, 16 rebs, 2 blk, 2 stl

Charlotte Bobcats (19-52) @ Indiana Pacers (27-45) - Mar 29th 2013

Our lack of bench production really killed us against the Pacers, and our only real scoring threats in this one were Kemba and Gerald. We came out the blocks slow too, and never posed a threat at any point of the game. Take a look at Paul George's beastly statline below, wow.

Final Score: Bobcats 86-99 Pacers

POTG: Paul George (IND) - 23 pts, 11 rebs, 9 ast, 2 blk, 6 stl

Notable Mentions: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 24 pts, 7 rebs, 6 ast,
Roy Hibbert (IND) - 22 pts, 11 rebs, 2 ast, 2 stl

Milwaukee Bucks (44-29) @ Charlotte Bobcats (19-53) - Mar 31st 2013

Unbelievable game! We let the home crowd roar us on to a great start to the game, and at half-time we comfortably led by 18 points. Seemingly over? Definitely not. While the 3rd quarter both teams were pretty even, the Bucks caught fire in the last quarter. We shot fairly well too, but Bucks were just sizzling hot. Somehow, we held them off just enough to take a great 1 point win.

Final Score: Bucks 111-112 Bobcats

POTG: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 32 pts, 5 rebs, 4 ast

Notable Mentions: Monta Ellis (MIL) - 21 pts, 3 rebs, 5 ast
Derrick Brown (CHA) - 20 pts, 6 rebs

Orlando Magic (46-26) @ Charlotte Bobcats (20-53) - Apr 2nd 2013

Orlando were without Dwight Howard, so we really sensed an opportunity to take a win against a strong Magic side. Sadly we came up short, but we did play well, but still feel it was an opportunity we didn't take.

Final Score: Magic 104-99 Bobcats

POTG: Ryan Anderson (ORL) - 23 pts, 15 rebs, 2 blk

Notable Mentions: Kemba Walker (CHA) - 24 pts, 2 rebs, 8 ast
Al Harrington (ORL) - 17 pts, 7 rebs, 2 stl

Charlotte Bobcats (20-54) @ Houston Rockets (32-42) - Apr 4th 2013

It was always going to be tough to go into Houston and get a result considering they're making a push to try and sneak into the final playoff spot and needed every single win possible, and sure enough we came up short.

Final Score: Bobcats 85-102 Rockets

POTG: Luis Scola (HOU) - 19 pts, 6 rebs, 3 ast

Notable Mentions: Gerald Henderson (CHA) - 18 pts, 2 rebs, 2 stl
John Henson (HOU) - 16 pts, 11 rebs

Charlotte Bobcats (20-55) @ Atlanta Hawks (40-35) - Apr 6th 2013

Jeff Teague and Joe Johnson both had big games for the Hawks, but our guys tried their best to answer that. Unfortunately we came up short again, but not without a fight.

Final Score: Bobcats 98-102 Hawks

POTG: Jeff Teague (ATL) - 29 pts, 5 rebs, 2 stl

Notable Mentions: Joe Johnson (ATL) - 28 pts, 3 rebs, 5 ast
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) - 20 pts, 4 rebs, 6 ast

Charlotte Bobcats (20-56) @ Miami Heat (63-14) - Apr 7th 2013

Miami are on course for one of the best regular season records in NBA history, and going into Miami, I told the guys just soak everything up and enjoy the experience. While of course still trying to win! Would you believe it.... we did it! Unbelievable performance from the guys, taking down the best team in the league on their own court. LeBron, Wade and Bosh didn't really get limited minutes either, so this was a real scalp for us. Very proud of the guys!

Final Score: Bobcats 100-90 Heat

POTG: Derrick Brown (CHA) - 19 pts, 10 rebs, 3 ast

Notable Mentions: LeBron James (MIA) - 26 pts, 3 rebs, 6 ast
Kris Humphries (MIA) - 22 pts, 16 rebs, 2 blk
Kemba Walker (CHA) - 18 pts, 2 rebs, 4 ast
