PG Kendall Marshall (11 PTS, 10 AST, 3 REB)
PF Markieff Morris (14 PTS, 4 REB)

Final Record: 4-1
Robert Stanley was a man on fire throughout the summer league, recording a total of 119 points on his way to three player of the game awards. Markieff Morris played well, but I had already made up my mind that Stanley would be starting at the power forward position. Kendall Marshall earned a player of the game award himself and recorded a double-double against Philadelphia. Terrel Harris and Alec Burks both had the potential to be proficient coming off of the bench, but I fully intended to seek a starting shooting guard during the free agency period.

Season 2, Chapter 4

Power forward Robert Stanley was an extremely important addition to the roster, but another important piece of the puzzle was still missing: a starting shooting guard. Alec Burks and Terrel Harris were both talented in their own right, but I had serious doubts as to their ability to handle a starting role. Furthermore, Ben Gordon was much too old and expensive to be a reasonable option going into the future. The top two shooting guards available in free agency were Tyreke Evans and James Harden; of the two, Harden was seen as the better option due to his significantly higher defensive ability and his playoff experience with the Oklahoma City Twisters. I had very little doubt in my mind that Harden was going to develop into a top-five shooting guard within the next couple of seasons; he was a potential superstar with an elite shooting game (a breath of fresh air to a franchise that was dead last in points per game). As such, I offered him a four year contract worth over $51 million.

Although center Jeremy Tyler was relatively expensive, he performed very well the year before and I still needed a backup at that position. I offered him a one year contract worth $3,250,000. For the sake of adding some depth, I offered small forward Chris Douglas-Roberts a one year deal worth $3,350,000. All three players eventually accepted their respective offers; although I had very little cap room left, the roster was complete.

During training camp, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was given individual attention while the power forward position was given positional training (both Robert Stanley and Markieff Morris needed some additional conditioning). Overall I stressed the importance of endurance and court intelligence, but given our scoring deficiencies I was also sure to emphasize the offensive set.

Final Roster:
#15 PG Kemba Walker [3.5/4.5]($2,710,267)[23]
#5 PG Kendall Marshall [3.0/3.0]($1,772,900)[21]

#13 SG James Harden [4.5/4.5]($12,350,000)[23]
#10 SG Alec Burks [2.5/3.0]($2,323,654)[22]
#8 SG Ben Gordon [2.5/2.5]($13,200,000)[30]
#12 SG Terrel Harris [2.0/2.5]($1,377,000)[26]

#14 SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist [4.0/5.0]($4,252,000)[20]
#24 SF Stanley Robinson [2.0/2.5]($1,525,410)[25]
#17 SF Chris Douglas-Roberts [2.0/2.0]($3,350,000)[26]

#52 PF Robert Stanley [3.0/4.5]($3,955,400)[18]
#11 PF Markieff Morris [3.0/3.0]($2,207,452)[23]

#0 C Bismack Biyombo [3.0/3.5]($3,218,474)[21]
#3 C Jeremy Tyler [2.0/2.5]($3,250,000)[22]

Salary: $55,492,557
Cap: +$2,507,443

Our starting lineup looked very promising, and players like Kendall Marshall, Stanley Robinson, and Markieff Morris brought plenty of talent off the bench. James Harden was already being ranked as the third-best shooting guard in the league (so much for “…Harden was going to develop into a top-five shooting guard within the next couple of seasons” – he was already there) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was ranked as the third best small forward. However, it was becoming increasingly obvious that this roster was going to be extremely expensive once some of the rookie contracts began to expire. I could sense that some very difficult decisions awaited us in the future, but for the time being we could enjoy having a much-improved roster of very talented players. Our single most-important purpose in the season ahead was to improve upon our record from the previous year, which meant we needed to record at least thirty wins or more. I truly believed that we had the potential to break into the playoffs, but for the time being at least, the focus was to remain on solidifying as a team and improving on past performances.

Signing James Harden is HUGE for your roster. He brings legitimate superstar power and an efficient scorer you guys desperately needed. But, as you pointed out, with a young and potential-loaded roster looms big contract decisions. If you want to cross that bridge when you come to it, you may lose out on a vital piece to your team's success. Good luck in Season #2!

Current Record: 6-4
The Wildcats have been making some significant improvements to their consistency lately. James Harden has averaged 24.7 points per game across the first ten games, while Kemba Walker has been averaging 17.5 PPG/5.6 APG/5.2 RPG. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Robert Stanley have recorded 13.0 PPG/7.8 RPG and 11.3 PPG/5.6 RPG respectively. Bismack Biyombo hasn’t been quite as consistent as some of his teammates, but he has struggled with some minor injuries on his way to 9.0 PPG/8.7 RPG/2.9 BPG. Our high-scoring upset over the Orlando Mystics may have turned some heads, but proving our worth would mean making some additional improvements going into the future.

That's a great start for your team! How many minutes per game is Stanley Robinson getting to put up those numbers? Either way it looks like this could be a very quick turnaround for the franchise.

My mistake, you were talking about the rookie. Those two names will screw me up every time haha.

haha no worries, and I have him starting at power forward but since he is so young I am trying not to push him too hard, he probably gets an average of about 32 mpg while Markieff Morris picks up the rest.

Our performance against the Toronto Dinos was the stuff of legends; a chilling overtime victory in which three players recorded double-doubles. However, our astounding fifty-three point loss to the Brooklyn the very next night was possibly one of the worst games in franchise history (which was saying a lot). Our consistency has certainly wavered, but hopefully our decisive victory over the Cleveland Knights will help get us back on track.
