I appreciate that you aren't manipulating things (numerous trades, etc) to quickly improve your team.

Never liked when people took on a rebuilding project and makes ton if trades and sign all of the top FAs. I like to play it straight up if not tilting the difficulty in the CPU's favor.

With Jeremy Lin on the mend for two weeks, we needed a warm body to fill the void on the bench. Kris Eisley decided to sign former Cal point guard Jerome Randle to a minimum contract of $473,604, prorated over the end of the season of course. We are hoping his outside shooting and defense can show us a little something. Maybe he can stick around next season.

Portland Trailblazers (28-27) vs. Houston Rockets (16-40)

With the Rockets decimated by injuries, we fall again to Portland 115-92. LaMarcus Aldridge had his way with us to the tune of 34 points and 13 boards while JJ Hickson added 27 and 9 of his own.

Harden led the team in scoring but that's not saying much at this point. He "only" had 19 points, shooting 8/21 from the floor. The second highest scorer for the Rockets was Royce White with 15 points off the bench. He also chipped in with eight boards and eight assists. Perhaps we utilize him as a point-forward with Lin out?

Royce White's mental health rating will stay at 48 after missing one road trip and making the other one for this month.

March 1, 2013

Cleveland Cavaliers (27-28) vs. Houston Rockets (16-41)

Cavs beat us at home 110-100. Kyrie Irving had a huge game: 30 points, eight assists and seven boards. Waiters scored 23 while Alonzo Gee added 20.

For the Rockets, James Harden had 29 points to go with his six turnovers while newcomer Jerome Randle got the spot start and scored 21 points. The two combined to shoot 7/24 from three, though. Royce White played a little point guard tonight, but the results weren't there as he had 12 points, two boards and two assists with three steals.

March 3, 2013

Houston Rockets (16-42) vs. Chicago Bulls (30-29)

The Rockets travel to Chicago to start a two game road trip and with his improved play of late it is great to see Royce White making the trip with us. Unfortunately, he couldn’t save us from a 129-86 beat down. Joakim Noah had a near 20-20 game with 25 points and 19 boards while Luol Deng torched the Rockets for 30. Derrick Rose, not to be forgotten, had 19 points and 11 assists.

James Harden had 36 points and Kurt Thomas had ten. They were the only two players in double figures for Houston. The Rockets got doubled up on the glass and allowed 18 offensive rebounds, perhaps our worst performance on the glass all season long.

March 4, 2013

Houston Rockets (16-43) vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (33-25)

It’s tough to win without your All-Star power forward in the lineup. Luckily, the Timberwolves got to host the Rockets and win anyways 131-116. Another big man torches us, this time being Nikola Pekovic who had 28 points and 12 rebounds. Interior defense has got to be our No. 1 priority this offseason.

Delonte West started at shooting guard for Minnesota and responded with 24 points, seven assists and five steals. Those are numbers the Rockets would gladly take from a guard not named James Harden. Ricky Rubio had 21 points, seven assists, five boards and four steals as well.

James Harden continues to score at a high level with 41 points tonight on just 25 shots. He now is the 6th highest scorer in the league, averaging 25.6 points per game. Even better is his FG%. At one point it was at a dismal 38% but since Coach McHale has gotten him to attack the rim, it has been on the rise and now sits at 45% for the season. It is a three-horse race for the scoring crown between Carmelo Anthony (33.9), Kevin Durant (33.8) and LeBron James (33.6). Dirk Nowtizki sits at 4th with 27.2 per game while Kevin Love rounds out the top-5 at 26.3.

Unfortunately his starting backcourt mate Toney Douglas scored zero. James Randle, on the other hand, poured in 13 off the bench on 5/7 shooting while hitting all three of his three-point attempts. Royce White had a double-double with ten points and ten assists off the bench, too. Asik (14), Patterson (14) and Parsons (13) played well, but shot inefficiently.

March 6, 2013

Toronto Raptors (13-48) vs. Houston Rockets (16-44)

The Rockets returned home and absolutely destroy the Toronto Raptors 127-92. We won the paint points by 30, got out on the break for 21 fast break points to their six and outrebounded them by 12. James Harden scored 26 points in 28 minutes while Omer Asik went for 14 and ten. Chandler Parsons with a spark that we haven’t seen for a while with 19 points and seven rebounds. Tony Douglas paced the bench with 19 points and five assists. Terrence Jones added ten points and eight boards while fellow rookie Royce White scored eight, grabbed six boards and dished six assists.

March 7, 2013

Houston Rockets (17-44) vs. Utah Jazz (35-25)

No Royce White on the trip means Terrence Jones will usurp all of his minutes.

Against an elite rebounding team like Utah, we held our own but still lost by ten, 117-107. Al Jefferson had 25 and 14 while Derrick Favors added 20 and 17 of his own. Ouch! Marvin Williams (20), Gordon Hayward (19) and Mo Williams (12) set the tone early and often with the two bigs to take a lead that Houston could never get back.

Despite one of the worst rosters in the league surrounding him, James Harden continues to show he is just a professional scorer as he pours in 41 more big ones. Patrick Patterson had a double-double with 18 and ten while surprise starter Jerome Randle added ten and eight assists. Terrence Jones, in 30 minutes of play, had eight points, seven boards, three assists, three steals and two blocks. Very solid all-around game for the young buck.

March 9, 2013

Phoenix Suns (26-35) vs. Houston Rockets (17-45)

A wire-to-wire victory for Houston as we beat the Suns 107-99. Of course we are led by James Harden's 37 points. Omer Asik played admirably against Marcin Gortat, posting 14 points, 13 boards, five steals and four blocks. The two rookie forwards, Jones and White, played great off the bench scoring 12 and 16, respectively. A feel good win, but counter-intuitive in our drive for a top draft pick.

Speaking of draft pick, let's take a look at the bottom feeders of the NBA. Right now, the Houston Rockets sit at 18-45 on the season. That is good for the 5th worst record in the entire league behind Orlando (12-49), Toronto (13-50), Charlotte (17-45) and New Orleans (17-43). Third worst record doesn't look to be out of the question, but those top-2 spots look pretty locked in at this point.

March 11, 2013

Memphis Grizzlies (27-34) vs. Houston Rockets (18-45)

Two straight wins for the Rockets?!? No, but we were close! The Grizzlies eeked out a win 119-116 led by Tony Allen's 38 points. Rudy Gay had 24 points and Zach Randolph added 16 and seven. Marc Gasol didn't play because he tore his ACL in late January. He will not be playing until December 2013 the earliest.

Our leading scorer tonight? Omer Asik with 22 points. James Harden was in foul trouble and only mustered 18 points of his own. Royce White (16), Terrence Jones (11) and Toney Douglas (11) played well off the bench. Patrick Patterson sprained his toe and with a team like this, we aren't taking any risks so we will sit him out for a week or two until he is completely healthy. Better to be safe than sorry...

March 12, 2013

Houston Rockets (18-46) vs. Denver Nuggets (42-44)

With Patrick Patterson sidelined, we are more than thrilled to have Royce White making this trip with us or else we would have to have given Earl Clark some actual minutes. Boy that would have been scary!

Either way, we got beat down by 38 points, 130-92. Kenneth Faried is an animal with 29 points and 12 boards. Ty Lawson added 29 of his own points as well.

Harden struggled to 21 points while CHandler Parsons chipped in with 19. Jerome Randle didn't register a single shot or free throw attempt in 24 minutes as a starter. His job is to shoot the rock so maybe a demotion to the bench will help get him going. Terrence Jones scored 13 in his start at PF while Royce White had an 18-point, 11 rebound double-double off of the bench.

March 14, 2013

Los Angeles Lakers (45-18) vs. Houston Rockets (18-47)

A return to Houston also brings the return of Jeremy Lin from his injury. He will be inserted right into the starting lineup, but will not be playing his usual 40 minutes. With the Lakers coming to town, it also meant the return of an old friend in Carlos Delfino.

Dwight Howard looked like Shaquille O'Neal of old when he dominated us for 47 points and 11 boards in leading the Lakers to a blow out 133-99 win. Pau Gasol had 21 and 12 while Kobe poured in 20 of his own. Carlos Delfino failed to register a point after attempting just one shot.

James Harden scored 16 points on ten shots while Chandler Parsons went for 23 points against old teammate Carlos Delfino. Jeremy Lin was rusty in his return with 15 points on 15 shots. Royce White had ten off the bench while Jerome Randle added four points, three boards and five assists.

March 16, 2013

Houston Rockets (18-48) vs. Charlotte Bobcats (17-47)

A game with huge lottery implications and Royce White won't be with the Rockets in Charlotte. Bitter-sweet for sure. Although a loss is good for our pick in the draft, getting demoralized 127-88 to a horrible team never helps.

Linas Kleiza scored 22 off the bench for Charlotte. Gerald Henderson (16), Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (15), Reggie Williams (14), Bismack Biyombo (14 & 12) and Mehmet Okur (13) all scored in double figures with Ramon Sessions dishing out 11 assists. Our defense is bad.

Harden got back to scoring in bunches with 28 tonight. Asik had 14 & 14 while Terrence Jones matched him with 14 points as well. Nobody else eclipsed the double-digit mark. Just an ugly game all around.

Oh dear, beaten by Linas Kleiza. I'm guessing Jeremy Lin is gone this off season?

Losing to Kleiza is never a good sign. As for Lin, I'm not sure what I could get for him but if I can move him for a more steady-handed PG I will definitely do that.

He has been playing well of late in his reserve role. I just don't want to thrust him into the starting lineup just yet. Let his confidence continue to boost down the stretch this season and hope that he can use that to develop and be a legit 6th or 7th man for this team next year.
