The Chronicles of the 2013 Daft

The Chronicles of the 2013 Daft

Postby SkylineXC » Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:24 am

So, I've decided to start a new dynasty in which I chronicle the careers of the top players at each position, plus a couple of young foreign players.

Here are the 11 players:

Justin Walcott PG 6-1 164 22 Miami (OH) RANK #9

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
21.3 8.5 9.5 1.2 2.0

Looks to be a weak point guard class. Walcott can do a little bit of everything and is the second best ballthief of the class.

Evan Wilcox PG 6-2 182 20 Vanderbilt RANK #12

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
12.6 6.2 5.8 0.9 1.2

Two years younger than Walcott, Wilcox appears to have plenty of potential.

Charles Robinson SG 6-4 192 21 Notre Dame RANK #1

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
26.5 4.0 9.6 1.3 1.7

Appears to be the best scorer of the draft. Ranked #1 for the entire year. Rebounds well for a 6-4 guard.

Ricardo Phillips SG 6-3 211 22 UConn RANK #3

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
22.2 7.0 7.3 1.2 1.3

Phillips has lived in the shadow of Robinson for 3 years, narrowly losing out on both the fresehman of the year and national player of the year awards to him. A much better passer than Robinson, but a lesser scorer and rebounder.

Derrick Bender SF 6-6 225 19 UCLA RANK #4

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
21.8 3.8 12.7 2.0 1.4

A crazy good rebounder for his position. Bender can also block shots and score. He has a tremendous upside and is drawing some comparisons to Andrei Kirilenko and Shawn Marion.

Guo-feng Li SF 6-6 217 19 China RANK #13

International Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
17.2 3.4 10.9 0.9 2.1

Dominated in the Chinese Leauge last season, was All-Leauge and All-Defense First Team. The best ballthief in the draft also rebounds well, compared very heavily to Derrick Bender

Francis Meadows SF 6-5 207 18 Australia RANK #15

International Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
14.3 2.2 5.0 1.3 0.9

Was just 17 during the Austalian season. Very raw but could develop well if given the time.

Chris Butler PF 6-10 238 21 Texas A&M RANK #2

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
25.4 2.8 15.6 1.2 1.5

Rebounds and Scores at will. Passing isn't the best, but other than that plays a fantastic all
Bart Harris PF 6-10 254 19 Iowa RANK #5

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
21.6 3.3 6.9 1.4 0.6
Built in the mold of Andrea Bargnani, can't rebound at all for a 6-10 power forward, but has great offensive skill that will find him a niche on some team.

Jamaal Williams C 6-10 279 19 Oregon RANK #7

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
14.7 4.3 8.2 1.7 0.6

A young center with plenty of upside. Passing ability is well developed in comparison to his overall game.

Tip Sullivan C 6-9 278 22 Dayton RANK #6

College Stats:

Points Assists Rebounds Blocks Steals
22.2 4.1 12.5 2.7 0.6

3 years older than Williams and looks to make a much more immediate impact to whatever team drafts him. An overall good player and appears to be one of the better shot blockers of the draft.

NBA Draft 2013:

1. Charles Robinson SG Phoenix
2. Ricardo Phillips SG Orlando
3. Derrick Bender SF Toronto
4. Chris Butler PF Indiana
5. Tip Sullivan C Sacramento
...
9. Guo-feng Li SF Detroit
10. Bart Harris PF Minnesota

20. Jamaal Williams C Portland
24. Evan Wilcox PG Phoenix
32. Francis Meadows SF Toronto Raptors

Steals: 1.0
Blocks: 0.6
Turnovers: 1.1
Minutes: 37.0
Games Played (Started) 82 (82)

Continued to play well, but appears to have already reached his potential, suprisingly he is a good ball-handler and very disciplined, but a terrible passer.

Ricardo Phillips SG Orlando

Season Stats:
Points: 21.4
Rebounds; 5.1
Assists: 5.2
Steals: 1.0
Blocks: 0.9
Turnovers: 4.0

Steals: 0.3
Blocks: 1.0
Turnovers: 4.8
Minutes: 38.0
Games Played (Started) 4 (4)

Broke his hand a couple of weeks before the all-star break and it is believed had he not, he would have been an all-star. He continues to increase his production, but has failed to cut down on turnovers. Managed to lead his team to the playoffs with a 40-42 record.

Derrick Bender SF Toronto

Season Stats:
Points: 12.2
Rebounds: 8.8
Assists: 1.9
Steals: 1.0
Blocks: 1.7
Turnovers: 2.0

Steals: 0.6
Blocks: 0.0

Traded to Toronto after Detroits championship run last year. He can contribute as a defender and a rebounder if he ever gets more minutes.

Francis Meadows SF None

Rights still held by Toronto. Doesn't look like he will ever make it into the leauge. A shame considering he was oozing potential when he entered the draft.

Chris Butler PF Indiana

Season Stats:
Points: 13.6
Rebounds: 8.7
Assists: 1.7
Steals: 1.0
Blocks: 0.6
Turnovers: 2.6
Minutes: 37.7
Games Played (Started) 82 (82)

Butler needs to quit taking so many jumpshots if he ever wants to improve his shooting percentages (40%) and become a real star. Either way he have been a solid starter since day 1.

Bart Harris PF Brooklyn

Season Stats:
Points: 18.6
Rebounds: 5.9
Assists: 0.7
Steals: 0.5
Blocks: 0.6
Turnovers: 2.2
Minutes: 32.7

Traded to Brooklyn before the season started, he instantly became a starter and improved every facet of his game. He broke his ankle in December, but when he returned it did not appear to affect his game.

Jamaal Williams C Portland/Brooklyn

Season Stats (Portland):
Points: 3.3
Rebounds: 1.3
Assists: 0.2
Steals: 0.1
Blocks: 0.3

Minutes: 5.2
Games Played (Started) 34 (0)

Season Stats (Brooklyn):
Points: 2.3
Rebounds: 1.4
Assists: 0.0
Steals: 0.1
Blocks: 0,1
Turnovers: 0.5
Minutes: 4.2
Games Played (Started) 13 (0)

Struggled to find minutes in Portlands rotation and was traded to the Nets midseason. Once in Brooklyn he found even less playing time. He appears to be a servicable player if some team actually gives him some minutes

Tip "Slam" Sullivan C Sacramento

Season Stats:
Points: 9.7
Rebounds: 6.0
Assists: 1.2
Steals: 0.6
Blocks: 1.5
Turnovers: 0.8
Minutes: 23.2
Games Played (Started) 82 (17)

Was nicknamed Tip Slam Sullivan as that is about all he can do on offense. Awful field goal percentage for a center (40%). He is still somehow a 4* player and is stuck behind Demarcus Cousins in Sacramento, once he can find his way into a starting line-up, he might show what he can really do.

The Robinson and Phillips similarities and rivalry are interesting to watch.

Nice to see Walcott and Harris flourishing after the trades.

Yeah. it will be interesting to see if Robinson and Phillips ever meet in the playoffs, as at this point it would have to be in the final, unless one of them decides to switch conferences.

Yeah, I'm happy to see them finally getting playing, though it was a very injury riddled season Harris and a couple others.
