Seattle Reborn

Free Agency

Prior to the free agency period we secured a trade with the Milwaukee Moose that helped to further expand the defensive presence in our front court:

SEA: SF Chris Singleton <> MIL: PF Larry Sanders; 2014 R2P

Chris Singleton is a talented player but we are simply too deep at small forward (especially if we are able to resign Tobias Harris) – Larry Sanders is an impressive defensive talent who should be an excellent option off of the bench.

PG Nick Calathes (2yr/$2,000,191)
Calathes will probably see a lot of playing time in the developmental league but he is capable of stepping up to the bench if needed.

SF Tobias Harris (2yrs/$4,344,010)
Harris was a solid defender last season and has developed into a leader on the bench; he is a versatile player who has had success playing at both forward positions.

PF Kenyon Martin (1yr/$2,085,100)
Martin is a veteran player with a decent defensive skill set – he should be valuable as a vocal leader and a mentor to the younger players in our front court.

C Josh Harrellson (1yr/$2,750,000)
Harrellson will have to continue to carry the weight at center while Nerlens Noel spends some time in the developmental league.

C Jeremy Tyler (1yr/$1,650,000)
Tyler is an excellent bench player who shared a lot of minutes with Harrellson last season.

Total Salary: $45,358,841
Cut Salary: $14,500,000
Team Salary: $30,858,841
Cap Status: +$12,641,159

#02 PG Damian Lillard (22)(3.5/4.5)
#33 PG Nick Calathes (24)[$995,120](1.5/2.5)*

#07 SG Bradley Beal (20)(3.5/4.5)
#13 SG CJ McCollum (23)[$1,566,900](2.5/3.0)*
#10 SG Tim Hardaway Jr (22)[$1,343,300](2.0/3.5)*

#21 SF Moe Harkless (20)(3.0/3.5)
#15 SF Tobias Harris (21)(2.5/3.0)
#20 SF Stanley Robinson (25)(2.0/2.5)
#17 SF Chris Douglas-Roberts (26)(2.0/2.0)

#11 PF Kevin Seraphin (24)[$2,761,113](3.5/4.0)
#08 PF Larry Sanders (25)[$3,053,368](2.5/2.5)
#06 PF Kenyon Martin (35)[$2,085,100](2.0/2.0)

#04 C Nerlens Noel (20)[$2,634,000](3.0/5.0)*
#55 C Josh Harrellson (24)[$2,750,000](2.5/3.0)
#14 C Jeremy Tyler (22)[$1,650,000](2.0/2.5)

Our front court has the potential to be absolutely spectacular - Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal are both coming off of huge rookie seasons while McCollum and Hardaway Jr are top-level college guards.

Our back court is much stronger than it was last season – Nerlens Noel will probably get most of his playing time in the developmental league for now but his value as a future asset is very high. Kevin Seraphin (who is ranked #50 in the RBA Fantasy Guide Top 50) is a huge anchor to our defense and an extremely reliable choice at power forward. He is also on the last year of his rookie contract from Washington and will be looking for at least $12M/yr next off-season, a dubious amount that makes his extended future with this team uncertain.

Overall our roster seems to have improved greatly during the off-season. I would hardly call us a playoff threat but there is absolutely no reason that we should not be able to improve on our record from last year and get at least thirty wins.

Kevin Seraphin (15.6 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 2.9 BPG, .488 FG%) has been contributing a lot more on offense than I had expected – the combination of Lillard, Beal and Seraphin has been good for 56.6 PPG on the year so far. CJ McCollum has been making major contributions off of the bench averaging 17 PPG in four out of the last five games.

You greatly improved the team this year. Nice to see production from more than just your starting guards. Seraphin's scoring AND rebounding are impressive.
