DDSCB3 Defense

DDSCB3 Defense

Postby Wayne23 » Fri May 22, 2015 6:45 pm

I am beginning two new dynasties that will run concurrently. This one is designed to develop a defensive powerhouse. The other is designed to develop an offensive powerhouse.

Unlike most of my other dynasties there will be no back story. These two are about stats. I want to see, really, whether there are more advantages than one with the other.

I will begin by running two seasons. All I will really do is recruit during those two years.

The D dynasty player attributes will be: Def. Abilitry, Def. RB'ing, Stealing, Shot Blocking, Discipline, Court Intelligence, Athleticism, more or less in that order.

Players with offensive attributes in that dynasty- Scoring, Shooting, BH, Off RB'ing, Drawing Fouls, Court Intelligence and Athleticism, more or less in that order. The stat keeping will begin in year three, by which time i should have my team formed.

I am looking for a team at about TP 50-60, but with a decent budget. I am looking at W. KY in Conf. USA; Kent ST, Central Mich., West Mich. in the Mid American; Ind. ST in the MO Valley; Boise ST, Fresno ST, Wyoming in the MT West; New Mex ST in the W. Athletic. I am avoiding the power conferences, and I will pick the school from the above list with the highest or 2nd highest budget.

Coach will be 35, High in everything except 5 for Temper, and Ver High for Integrity. Player Rotation 10, Preference 5, O Crash Bds. 8 (10 for Off. assoc.), Off. Pace 6 (both), Full court D 2 (both- I want to play strong 1/2 court D in the defensive assoc.), Zone Def 3 (5 in Off. Assoc.), Def. Crash BDs. 10 (7 in Off. assoc.), Def. Intensity 8 (5 in Off. assoc.).

Skill settings: Off Concepts 50-55 (Off assoc. 90-100), Def. concepts 90-100 (50-55 Off. assoc), Scout 60-70 (both), Recruit 50-70 (both), Player Dev. 50-80 (both).

No house rules for these dynasties. No Illegal Recruiting. Players cannot declare. Recruit difficulty Normal. I will not change schools.

As it turns out all 9 schools have budgets in the $436,000-$445,000 range. So I'm looking at other things.

Going with Kent ST.

(Author’s note: I mistook Coach Salary for budget. Sad surprise.)

Oct. 2: Picked last in conf.

Nov. 6: We have a lineup. 4 guys play solid D, 2 other decent D, and the 7th, well we need the body. Sophs Sky Par, Rod Harm start at guard backed by Reg Duke, who also plays some SF. Jr. Marc
Dove is at SF. Juniors AL Reed and Adam Best start up front, supported by junior Mick Brow.

Dec. 25: We end pre-conf. play 7-5. Only +.6 PPG ahead of the opponents. We are horrible rebounders, -8.1.

March 5: We end the regular season at 18-11, 10-6, tied for 2nd in our division.

Big improvements in some areas after a couple of playing time adjustments. +5.2 PPG, -3.8 RBs, +2.6 TOs. This is not the team we want, esp. defensively, but we know that will take a couple of seasons.

March 12: Lots of upsets in the conf. tourney and we skated to winning it!

21-11, RPI #42. #11 South. We’ll play #6, #19 Southern Illinois.
We ended very strong, 8-0, which is supposed to have an effect on seeding. It didn’t.

March 17: We lost to SIU 62-65.

Ended the season 21-12. +5.9 PPG (66.4-60.5)
.

April 4: #1 Kansas won it all.

Awards: Rod Harm, our SG/SF, got POY and 1st team. Al Reed, one of our bigs, got Def. POY, and 2nd team along with Sky Par and Adam Best. And everyone is back.

April 23: We ask for $. We get $10,000.

Coach is Off 52, Def 96, Recruit 59, Scout 60, Player Dev 54, Rep 52.

June 26: 7 scholarships and we need almost all bigs.

Nov. 6: A little trouble recruiting. We have 3 bigs but still 4 scholarships to fill.

Here’s the lineup: 4 juniors at guard, Rod Harm, Sky Par start, Reg Duke, Shea Jones support. Senior Mark Dove is at SF, backed by Harm. Seniors Adam Best and Sal Reed start inside, with senior Mick Brow in support.

Dec. 25: 8-3 for the pre-conf. season. 70.8-62.1 PPG.

March 5: Great season. We’re 23-5, 14-2, best in conf., 68.7-55.8 PPG, #22, RPI #17 heading to the postseason.

March 12: We win the conf. tourney. 26-5, #15, RPI #9 going to the Dance.

#6 in the East. We play #11 Cornell. At #15, #9 we should have been a #3 or #4.

April 4: We lose in the 2nd round to #13, #3 seed Ohio ST.

#1 Kansas beat Ohio ST in the title game.

Awards: Junior guards Rod Harm and Sky Par made conf. 1st team, senior SF Al Reed made 2nd team and our generic coach was COY.

Filled all scholarships, a few with long shots.

April 23: We ask for a facilities upgrade. B- to B+!

We end up 27-6, 68.3-55.6 in PPG. I’m thinking Defensive concentration is the way to go!

Going to the “official” association coach record is 48-18, .727. Off 55, Def 100, Recruit 70, Scout 61, Player Dev 59, Reputation 56.
