Foreign 2

January 1

71-66 at USC. 20, 6, 2, 2 for Scot, his best game of the season. 18, 7, 2 for Catt; I guess he likes playing SG.

There are 5-6 teams in the Pac 12 that we need to beat; USC is one of them.

January 8

57-40 over Washington here. 19,10 for Scot, who is heating up, 16, 4, 2, 3 for Star. 5 TOs, 35 RBs.

At #1 ranked UCLA next. It won’t be pretty!

69-82. 23, 4, 3 for Catt, 21 for Star. We didn’t do badly, considering what a great team they have.

January 15

55-64 at Washington ST. Not enough offense. We didn’t make shots. 13, 5, 4 for Star, 10, 2, 5 for Catt. Win or lose we’re a better team with Catt at SG.

Sub Jam Brow strained a hamstring. Out for about a week and a half.

77-61 over #11 Arizona here. Our biggest win in the short time since we got here. 19, 7, 3, 3 for Star, 19, 3 for Scot, 11, 9, 2 for
Farr, 12 for Hart. 13 TOs, 30 RBs.

We’re inconsistent. On a good night, well, on a good night we can beat the #11 team in the country by 16 points. On a bad night we can’t beat anyone.

January 22

63-78 at Arizona ST. Star, Farr, and Catt all did their part but there was nothing from anyone else. We let them shoot 53.8%.

80-69 over California here. 21, 4, 3, 3 for Star, 18, 8 for Farr, 17, 5 for Scot. 10 TOs, 30 RBs.

January 29

70-55 over Colorado here. 16, 10, 2 for Scot, 16, 8, 2, 3 for Farr, 19, 4 for Catt. 11 TOs, 34 RBs.

Halfway through conference play we are 11-8, 5-3, in a 4 way tie for 3rd, 2 up on 7th.

62-87 at Oregon. 16 each for Star and Catt, 14 for Cony, but they were simply better.

As expected, 2 of our committed recruits did not hit our SAT score. We have offered to 2 others.

February 5

65-66 at Oregon ST. We fought hard all the way, and played good ball against a really good team. In the end we missed a 15 footer.

A tough loss in many ways. Kyle Star bruised a thigh. Out for 2 ½ weeks.

56-60 to Stanford here. 21 for Cony, 14, 7, 4 for Catt, 13, 6, 2 for Kacy. We lost it inside where our bigs were completely outplayed.

February 12

71-65 over USC here. 17 for Catt, 16, 4 for Scot, 10, 5, 3 for Farr, 12, 5, 2 for Kacy.

60-59 at Washington. 18, 8 for Catt, 12, 11 for Farr, 11, 4 for Cony. Big win because it really helps our chance of finishing in the top half of the Pac 12 with a winning record.

3 to play, 2 against powerhouses. We’re 13-11, 7-6.

February 19

68-82 to #1 UCLA here. 18 for Kacy, 13, 5 for Catt, 14, 3 for Farr. Once again, we played well against a terrific team.

80-70 over Washington ST here. I was able to spot Star. He played 18 minutes and had 10, 3, 2. 20 for Kacy, 15 each for Catt and Scot. 8 TOs, 31 RBs.

We are 14-12, 8-7 with one to play. RPI is #86. We are in a 2 way tie for 5th.

February 26

57-80 at #14 Arizona. We stayed with them for about 24 minutes and then they took off and left us behind. They are a good team.

We finish alone in 6th place. We are at 14-13, 8-8. RPI #93.

We’ll play #9 seed Washington ST in the play in round of the Pac 12 tournament. We lost by 9 there, won by 10 here.

March 9

75-60 over Washington ST. 14, 7, 3 for Cony, 15, 4, 2 for Star who is completely recovered, 10 each for Scot and Kacy, 9 each for Catt and Farr. 13 TOs, 33 RBs.

We play #3 seed Arizona ST, 19-10, 11-5 in the quarter final round. They beat us by 15 there.

March 10

53-62. 16 TOs and poor shooting hurt us.

This kills any chance of meeting the goal of an invitation to the NCAA. Will we go anywhere? Hard to say; we are marginal at best.

Still, a better season than I had thought.

March 12

#1 seed in the West in the NIT. We play 15-13 Ohio ST.

March 14

63-62 over Ohio ST. 19, 10, 3 for Star, including a 20 footer at the buzzer for the win. Hart had 10 and 9 from the bench. A season
high 44 RBs made the difference.

Jim Kacy hurt his hip. He will miss our next game.

#5 seed Denver, 21-9 in the round of sixteen.

March 16

79-61 over Denver. 22, 7 for Star, 12, 3, 3, 4 for Cony, 11, 7 for Farr. 10 TOs, 29 RBs.

Kacy will be back for our next game.

We play #2 seed, 23-10 New Mexico St, in the round of eight, the regional final.

March 21

60-70. We played decent ball, we just shot poorly, and lost to a better team.

April 4

I skipped the Final Four this year. #1 UCLA won the title.

Awards: Senior Art Catt and junior Kyle Star make the Pac 12 2nd team.

April 23

We ask for a budget increase. We get $13,100.

17-15, 8-8. My numbers: 170-55, .756, Off- 52, Def- 76, Recruit- 80, Scout- 64,Player Dev- 64, Reputation- 47.

May 1

International basic.

June 5

No transfers.

June 26

5 scholarships. We need guards more than bigs. Looking at 10 to start.

August 7

Ivic Supk is #39 on the Norton list.

August 21

We offer to 4 guards and a big.

September 18

We get Kai Only, PG, #115.

We’re going to the Coaches Classic where we’ll meet Purdue in the first round. We have a strong schedule. Hopefully we are up to it.

September 25

We got 2, lost one. We got: Paul Paar, SG, #21, and Tran Moli, C, #57.

October 2

First day of practice. Supk looks very good, and we’re much better than last year.

We’re picked to finish 6th in the Pac 10. We hope to do better than that.

October 9

We get our last two: Fred Maiz, Sg, #260, and Li Sun, PG, #252. If everyone hits our SAT score we’re finished.

November 6

Here’s the lineup: Juniors Ed Cony and Jim Kacy start at guard, backed by freshman Bogd Suha. Senior Kyle Star returns at SF.
Senior Ross Farr and freshman Ivic Supk start inside. Frosh Robb Roy and junior Jeff Hart sub for the bigs.

Let’s see what happens!

November 14

77-68 over #6 seed Purdue (We’re #11). 25, 7, 2 for Cony, 18, 5 for Star, 10, 7, 3 for Farr. We led by as many as 20 and never trailed.

Next is #3 seed, #16 ranked Cincinnati.

November 15

62-77 to Cincinnati. 17 TOs and 17 fouls did us in. +7 RBs. Supk is starting slowly. I still think he will be a very, very good player, but it’s an adjustment for a freshman.

November 20

Only 3 of our 5 recruits signed, which means that the 2 PGs we thought we had won’t hit the SAT score.

November 27

76-64 over New Mexico ST here. 20, 4, 2, 2 for Kacy, 16, 11, 2 for Supk, his first good game, 16, 5, 3 for Farr, 13 for Hust from the bench. +7 RBs.

54-72 at #14 Pitt. 17, 3,3 for Kacy, 11, 5 for Roy. Supk had 12 RBs but only 1 point. His growing pains continue.

Starting PF Ross Farr broke his toe 6 minutes in. He is out for 7-8 weeks. Hart and Roy will share the minutes. This injury hurts but we are much deeper inside than outside. Supk had better learn his role quickly though!

December 4

82-53 over Nevada here. 16, 7 for Star, 14, 7, 2 for Supk, 15, 5 for Kacy, 11, 3, 2 for Hust from the bench. Roy and Hart did well at PF. 12 TOs, 35 RBs.

54-74 at Maryland. 21, 2, 2 for Star, 11, 12 for Supk, but no one else had more than 5. 21 TOs. As was the case last year, we are very inconsistent, and have difficulty on the road.

Sub guard Bogd Suha hurt his hand. Day to day.

December 11

71-62 at San Francisco. 19, 8 for Supk, who seems to be finding his game. 4 players had 10 each.

We are 4-3 after 7 games and we have alternated wins and losses. Now would be a good time to break the pattern.

54-49 over Iowa here. 14, 5, 4 for Cony, 9, 11, 5, 2 for Supk, 11, 5 for Star, 7, 6 for Roy. 12 TOs, 34 RBs.

The injury bug is killing us. Our #3 guard, and we have only three, Cole Hust, broke his elbow. He is out for about 7 weeks. We will bring Star from SF to SG for sub guard minutes and play Hart a little more. One more injury will totally do us in, and it is still 3 ½ weeks until Farr returns.

December 18

63-45 over Brigham Young here. 23, 3, 2 for Kacy, 16, 8 for Supk, 16, 7 for Star, 6, 9, 2 for Roy. Cony was in foul trouble all night so we had to go to our 9th and 10th men for 16 and 14 minutes. We tried not to have both in at the same time, and it worked, sort of.

58-62 at Duquesne. We tired late in the game and lost a 7 point lead. That’s the biggest issue with playing only 6 people. 21, 15 for Supk, 13, 5 for Roy, 11, 5 for Star, 6, 7, 2, 3 for Hart. Our starting guards both had to play carefully because of fouls, and they didn’t give us much as a result. This is a team we beat if we’re healthy.

December 25

68-55 over Texas Tech here. 17,3, 4, 2 for Roy, 9, 14 for Supk, 14, 5, 2 for hart, 13, 6 for Star, 11, 4, 6 for Cony. 9 TOs, 33 RBs.
Kacy was in foul trouble all night so we had to go deep into the short bench again.

60-82 at Fresno ST. We let them shoot 50%, a little over 60% in the 2nd half as fatigue played a role again.

7-5 for pre-conference play. The injuries definitely were a factor. Farr should only miss one more game.

January 1, 2028

85-67 over USC to begin Pac 12 play. 30, 11 for Star, his best game since he got here. 22, 9, 3 for Supk, 15, 9 for Hart, 12, 2, 6, 3 for Cony. 37 RBs, 11 TOs.

Farr will be back for our next game.

January 8

63-73 at Washington. Their bench had 34, 11, 5, ours 13, 4, 4, and that was the story. We need to do better against teams like this.

62-64 in overtime to #4 UCLA here. Despite shooting only 28.3% we almost beat them; we were 4-29 on threes. Star missed an 18 footer at the end of regulation. 29, 10 for Supk, 12, 8, 3 for Star. Frustrating.

January 15

67-54 over Washington ST here. 19, 7, 2, 2 for Supk, 15, 3, 3, 4 for Star, 9, 7 for Farr. 10 TOs, 30 RBs.

60-75 at #13 Arizona. 21, 3, 2 for Star, 15 for Supk, but only 4 RBs. 11, 5,4 for Cony. We’re not quite ready to take on a team like this on the road.

January 22

65-79 to #19 Arizona ST here. 25, 8 for Supk, but he fouled out in 24 minutes. 18, 8, 4 for Star, 10, 3, 8 for Cony. We let them shoot 57.8%, and their bench got 32 while ours got 5.

64-62 at California. We almost blew a 20 point lead. They tied it with 11 seconds left. Then we brought it down and got it to Kacy, who hit a 16 footer for the win. 23, 12 for Supk, 12 each for Kacy and Star. +8 RBs.

January 29

67-74 at Colorado. 13, 10, 2 for Supk, 14, 4, 4 for Star. Again, this is the kind of game we need to win.

Sub guard Cole Hust is back.

61-53 over Oregon here. 19 for Cony, 10, 13 for Supk, 14, 3, 2 for Star, 8, 2, 2 for Hust in his return. 6 TOs, 30 RBs.

Ivic Supk is #6 on the Norton list.

As expected, 2 recruits did not meet our SAT score. We offer to 2 others.

February 5

75-62 over Oregon ST here. 20, 5, 3, 2 for Cony, 17, 2, 2, 2 for Star, 14, 8 for Supk, 8, 12 for Farr. 10 TOs, 39 RBs.

Freshman Rob Roy, our 6th man, breaks his nose
. Out for the season. Quite the year for injuries.

68-84 at #8 Stanford. 24, 3 for Star. We were over matched.

February 12

79-65 at USC. Solid play by 7 guys. 43 RBs. We needed this game and we need the next one.

59-55 over Washington here. Another game where we showed solid play with balanced scoring. 5 TOs, 31 RBs.

Supk is #7 on the Norton list.

February 19

57-73 at #10 UCLA. 17, 6 for Star,13, 7 for Cony, 10, 11 for Farr. Supk had his worst game of the season, 2 and 7. Interestingly enough last time we played UCLA he may have had his best game.

2 to play and we’re in a log jam, a 4 way tie for 5th-8th.

65-52 at Washington ST. 19, 4 for Star. The other starters and Jeff Hart all did good work. 20 TOs, but +23 RBs!

A BIG win!

February 26

73-52 over Arizona here. 20, 3 for Star, 14, 13, 2 for Farr, 12, 15, 3 for Supk,14 for Kacy. +14 RBs.

Sub guard Bogd Suha hurts his back and is out for about 10 days.

We end the regular season at 16-12, 9-7, RPI #44, 6th in conf. +1.4 PPG, +3.9 RBPG, -0.2 TOPG.

We play #11 seed California, 10-17, 5-11, in the play in. We won by 2 there.

March 9

80-67 over California in the play in. 24, 5, 3, 3 for Kacy, 16, 8 for Supk, 14, 9, 4 for Farr.

We face #3 seed Oregon, 18-11, 10-6, in the quarter final game. We won by 8 here.

March 10

69-67 over Oregon! 13, 14 for Supk, 17, 2, 5 for red hot Jim Kacy, 16 for Cony, 10, 6, 2, 2 for Star. 11 TOs, 29 RBs.

This should definitely get us into the NCAA tournament.

It’s #2 seed, #9 ranked Stanford, 23-5, 12-4, in the semifinals. They won by 16 there.

March 11

60-63. Both of our starting guards fouled out. That made a huge difference in a close game. We’re not deep enough at guard to overcome that kind of thing. I thought we played well and had a terrific tournament. Now we wait.

March 12

18-13, 9-7, made it to the semis, RPI #41. I think we’re in.

It was a long wait. #10 in the West. We play #7 seed West VA, 21-10.

March 17

77-68. 25, 11, 2 for Supk, 19, 3 for Kacy, 13, 6 for Star, 7, 9 for Farr. +16 RBs.

We play #2 seed, #16 ranked Arizona ST, 26-5. They beat us by 14 there.

March 19

68-79. 18, 6 for Supk, 16, 2, 9 for Cony, 13 for Kacy. They were the better team.

This was the last game for Kyle Star and Ross Farr.

April 4

I went to the Final Four. Kentucky was the only #1 or #2 to get to the Final Four. There was a #3, a #4, and a #5.

And KY fooled everyone by losing to #3 seed, #10 ranked Michigan St by 17 in the title game.

Awards: Kyle Star made Pac 12 1st team and Ivic Supk 2nd. We felt Supk was snubbed both in conference and nationally.

April 23

We ask for a budget increase. $13,750!

19-14, 9-7, 6th in the Pac 12, made it to the semifinals, then to the 2nd round of the NCAA. My numbers: 189-69, .733. Off- 55, Def- 81, Recruit- 80, Scout- 65, Player Dev- 68, Reputation- 48.

Hoping for big things next year.

May 1

International basic.

June 5

No transfers.

June 26

4 scholarships. 2 and 2 would be nice.

August 7

Supk is on the Norton list but only #44.

August 21

It seems to be a really shallow recruit pool this year but we have found 4 we like, 2 PGs, an SF and a C.

September 18

We seem close with all 4 recruits. I hope so since there’s really no one else we want, at least for now.

We are invited to the Sunshine Shootout where we will open with Nevada. The schedule is definitely more challenging this year. We think we have the team for it.

September 25

4 for 4. Now we need to hope they all hit our SAT score.

October 2

First day of practice. I like what I see.

We’re picked to finish 4th in the Pac 12.

November 6

Here’s the lineup: Seniors Ed Cony and Jim Kacy will start at guard, backed by sophomore Cole Hust . But this year we have 2 other guards who could help us if need be. Soph Rob Roy will start at SF. Soph Ivic Supk and freshman Tran Mola will start inside, with senior Jeff Hart backing up. We have one other good big man in reserve.
