Mister Outside

This dynasty is one of a pair. The other is “Mister Inside.” I want to see how a team does when the strategy is set to Heavy Outside. In recruiting I will focus on SCR and outside shooting first, then passing/BH, then D (I won’t take anyone with “F” for D, and will try to avoid “D”).

Both dynasties will have the same set up EXCEPT for Outside vs. Inside game strategies.

I will start with Skill set ratings for the head coach totaling 200 points (amateur), but Off- 50, Def- 30, Scout- 60, Recruit and Player Dev- 30. Scouting progresses very slowly. Max. levels will be Off-90, 75 for each of the others.

I will start at San Jose ST, Mountain West, Prestige 30, Facilities C+, Academics C- at both schools. I will stay at the school throughout the dynasty (5-10 years).

Mr. Outside will use the 5 Out and Motion Offenses. On D it will be about 25% man, and the rest split about equally between 2-3- and 3-2.

I will sim the games, stopping every two weeks, or when there are injuries, to make lineup adjustments.

There will be no “back story.”

5/1/’15: We hire coaches, trim the roster, buy the Gold West regions scouting report and the Basic national and international.

6/26: 6 scholarships.

8/21: We offer to 3 PGs, an SF, a PF, and a C. A few are long shots.

9/18: We have a schedule.

9/25: All 6 of our guys committed… Unfortunately, 5 of them committed to other schools. We got a PF.

10/2: First day of practice. I like this team.

We’re picked 4th in conf.

11/6: We have a lineup.

(Note: As it worked out Outside has a MUCH stronger team than Inside does. Just the way the computer set the teams up.)

11/27: 2-2. Some changes made to the lineup.

12/11: 5-3.

12/25: 6-5, RPI #161 at the end of pre-conference play. We have the #1 scorer, #2 assist man, #2 shot blocker, #3 RB guy in conf. As a team we’re -2.1 PPG, +2.8 RBPG, -2.4 TOPG, -2.5 assists PG, and -2.7 steals PG. Hm.

1/8/2016: 8-6, 2-1. Another little tweak to the lineup.

1/22: 10-8, 4-3.

1/29: 11-9, 5-4. RPI #116. In a 3 way tie for 4th place.

Our only signed recruit did not hit our SAT score.

2/12: 12-11, 6-6, RPI #127. In a 2 way tie for 6th.

2/26: 14-14, 8-8, RPI #145 at the end of the regular season. We finish in a 4 way tie for 4th, and get the #4 seed.

3/7: We lost to #5 seed UNLV in the round of 8.

3/11: UNLV won the Mountain West tourney title.

3/12: Not invited. The season is over.

14-15, 8-8, RPI #165. -0.1 PPG, +4.1 RBPG, -2.6 TOPG, -1.1 assists PG, and -2.1 steals PG.

4/1: Got one, a PG. Lost one too.

4/4: #12 Iowa beat #10 LSU for the national title.

Awards: One of our seniors was conf. POY, and another made 2nd team.

4/9: We got an SF.

4/15: We get another PG.

4/23: We get a C, probably the best of the recruits. We did not fill 2 scholarships.

I ask for a budget increase. No.

Team prestige drops 4 points. Again, 14-15, 8-8. Off- 53, Def- 33, Recruit- 41, Scout- 60, Player Dev- 33, Reputation 20. And that’s season 1. Frankly, I thought this was a better team than it turned out to be this season, and we’re losing 3 guys, our best player, another starter, but barely so, and a sitter.

We’re picked 6th in conf.

10/9: Lost another recruit.

I think we’ll make one of the tournaments. Clearly it won’t be the big one.

3/12: San Diego ST won the tourney.

We’re 18-11, 11-5, RPI #136.
