How does the game (College Football) figure out rankings?

I just played week one of my 2021 season and saw some strange anomalies once the dust had cleared.

One instance showed #22 Oregon going into Cowboy territory and beating #23 Oklahoma State 14-10. So naturally, the Ducks remained ranked 22nd, while Oklahoma State leapfrogged past them to #21.

The game of the week had 17th ranked Florida visiting the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio. And they beat the favored hosts by ten. Yet BOTH teams dropped one spot in the rankings, Ohio State to #2, the Gators to #18.

But the biggest head-scratcher took place in Tempe, Arizona, where the unranked Sun Devils shocked #13 Clemson 20-13. Logic would suggest that the Tigers would plummet down the rankings, but instead, they took the biggest leap UPWARD of any team in week one, to #5!

the first couple of weeks are a bit unstable because some teams have byes etc, itll stabalize after a few weeks and youll see fewer counterintuitive jumps.
