Rhoda Cox

3/3: Rhoda: 34-40 at the half. I remind the guys that it’s one and done in the tourney. We hold them to 17 points in the 2nd half and win 68-57. +10 RBs, +2 TOs. 16, 8 for Rain.

#4 seed Dartmouth, 17-11, 8-6, in the semifinal round. We beat them by 10 and then 23 in the regular season. Their starting C has a sprained wrist. He’ll play, but how effective will he be? We’re healthy.

3/4: Rhoda: 39-40 at the half. It’s a battle. +4 RBs but 15 TOs (-6). The same old problem. I tell the guys we need to take care of the ball if we hope to play for the title.

69-68! Craig Tice hit a 10 footer with 5 seconds left for the win. +11 RBs and a horrible 27 TOs (-5). 19, 8, 5, 3 for Tice, the MOP.

It’s 20-9, 10-4 Penn, tied for 1st with us in the regular season. We won there by 9 and then here by only 2.

22-7, 10-4, RPI #36.

3/5: Rhoda: We faded late in the half and went in down 25-38. Big hill to climb. TOs again, 14. Foul trouble, too.

We did all we could but it was 59-63 at the end. The lead was too big. Only 4 2nd half TOs. 3-10 at the line did us in more than anything. 16, 8 for Rain, 10, 6 for Hill, 9, 4, 5 for Alan.

We’ll play again. NCAA? NIT? Hard to say.

3/12: Rhoda: 22-8, 10-4, RPI #43. I’d almost rather go NIT. We’d have a shot at making a run there. If we go NCAA we’ll be a 12 or a 14, lucky to win one game.

NIT, #1 South. We play #8 seed George Washington, 18-15. They can play, especially outside.

3/14: Rhoda: 34-35 at the half. 9 TOs (-2), 15 RBs, +2. 3 fewer fouls. Their PG lit us up for 16, with 4 threes.

We decided to NOT put pressure on but to go with a tighter D, and with more 1-3-1 than usual, in hopes that it would shut down the three- they had 6 as a team. On O we knew we needed more form Hill and Kraft, who had combined for 6 and 6.

It all worked in the 2nd, but barely- 62-61 at the buzzer on a 22 foot three by Cris West, The buzzer went while the shot was in the air. We hit only 3-10 on threes for the game.

+12 RBs, -2 TOs, 11 fewer fouls, and we held the PG to 4 points and their team to one 3. Hell of a battle.

We’re at 23-8. No Cornell team has ever won more than 23 games.

It’s #4 seed Oklahoma, 16-13, next. They have lots of weapons, and they’ve played a tough schedule. We need to be at our best.

Kip Hill hurt his hand but he’ll play.

3/16: Rhoda: We exploded out of the gate, scoring the first 9 and going up 15-3. At the half it was 48-36. 10 TOs (-4), 20 RBs (+7). Rain, Tice, and West had 12 each.

We played them even throughout the 2nd half to win it 85-73. -4 TOs, +16 RBs. 23 and 7 with 4 blocks for MOP Rob Rain, 23, 4, 5 for Craig Tice, 19, 3, 5 for Cris West. Great win.

24-8, and the most wins in Cornell history. Woo!!!

We flew home for a couple of days, and about 1,000 people greeted us at the airport. VERY cool!

Pat Blun was pissy in practice again today. Complaining about everything, not doing much work. I called him into my office after practice and told him to turn in his stuff; he was through. His scholarship was revoked, effective at the end of the semester. He said that was fine with him and asked where to sign. It just so happened I had the forms. He signed.

Next day, at the beginning of practice I announced that I would not go into detail, but that Pat Blun was no longer with us. The players cheered. Well, not Dan Ashe, but everyone else. Ashe is gone as soon as we either lose a game, or win the NIT, hopefully the latter. I think he knows it.

#7 seed Texas Tech, 18-13, in the quarter finals. On paper they’re stronger at nearly every position. We’ll see.

3/21: Rhoda: Tough team! 28-42 at the half. We stayed with them for about 12 minutes and then the hammer dropped. 16 TOs (-9), our usual problem, but they are QUICK!

We’ll tighten the D. Not sure if we can press them. We’ll try it, but doubling the ball may be a better option. Not sure either will work given how quick they are.

We got it to 7 several times but no closer, and that’s where it ended, 65-72. Their PF, Mark Betz, is the best inside player we saw all season. 9 more fouls, 6 more RBs, 11 more TOs. Our #1 priority for next season will be better ball handling; we’re #341 right now.

Dan Ashe informed me after the game that he would not be back next season. He signed, so the scholarship is ours to use right now, as is Blun’s. We offered to a big and a PG.

The only other guy on the team who doesn’t give us much is soph SF Ben Barr, but Ben is a great kid, a real cheerleader, and he works his butt off. He’s staying, and I’ve told him so.

3/26: Rhoda: We get two guards, #57 Day Lews, and #81 Cory Walk. Still chasing 2 PFs and a PG.

Tina and Tanny are 5 months old. Tanny is crawling but Tina isn’t. They’re expressive, energetic, bright, reactive, happy, and more fun than I can even imagine.

4/4: Rhoda: #4 Michigan St beat #2 Syracuse, 75-62, for the title.

Awards: Soph C Rob Rain was POY and 1st team Ivy League. I had the honor of being named Coach of the Year.

“Gary Gray here on Sportschat at EPSN with Rhoda Chayne Cox, head coach of the Cornell Big Red men’s basketball team. Rhoda, in your wildest dreams?”

“Not in May, no. But once the season started, yeah, maybe. My guys made so much progress so quickly that we started to think that good things could happen.”

“An DID they! 24-9, .727, most wins in program history, 10-4 in the Ivy League, tied for first, made it to the final game of the tourney. Went to the NIT and got to the round of 8. All with a team that went 6-22 the year before and lost the two best players on that team. Yeah.”

“We knew all that and decided to take it from where we were on day 1, and forget all of that stuff. Our job was to see what we had to work with, see what we could do with it, and how far we could take it.”

“How did it feel to be named Ivy League COY?”

“That was fantastic. I don’t worry too much about all of the ‘Pioneer’ crap. That doesn’t interest me. But you wonder if you’ll be recognized. I’m told the voting was unanimous, and when I heard that I got a chill. Awesome stuff!”

“And now? Recruiting our butts off.”

“You’ve got three and you hope to bag three more.”

“NEED to!”

“The question was whether you could recruit. Getting the three you got, all top 100 guys, says you can. If you get the other three that question will be answered.”

“Well, I may have lost one or two because of my gender, but it hasn’t been a major issue at all- in any area.”

“You did turn two players loose.”

“I can’t comment on that other than to say that one of them left the program on his own.”

“The future?”

“Like I said, recruiting. Beyond that? We want another Ivy title, and hopefully at least one NCAA tourney win.”

“The big picture?”

“One thing at a time. Cornell knows I’m ambitious, and that I won’t be there forever, but I’m in no hurry to leave. When and if the right offer comes along we’ll do what we need to do, but we’re happy in Ithaca.”

“Thanks Rhoda. Continued success.”

4/16: Rhoda: Got ‘em all! #41, PF Josh Zimm, #75, PF Ben Smith, #94 PG Hal Burns.

Talked Ken Maso into one more year as my bench/practice coach. I’m thrilled. Jeb Grigs is my new recruiter. Seems like a good guy, one I can work with.

Dee Cale had a chance to move up so he’s gone. Chad Rich will scout, and he seems like a good guy, too.

4/23: We need a budget increase. We get $4,000. I’d hoped for more but I’ll take it.

Great first season! 24-9, .727, RPI #42.

5/1: Rhoda: We buy the Basic national and international scouting reports.

Do we dare hope for a top 25 ranking this season? I actually think it’s possible.

The girls are now crawling, getting into everything. They are 6 months old and gabbing. An occasional word pops out but is it language or coincidence?
Sandy has a boyfriend, and we’re fine with that. She knows that if he’s over when she’s watching the girls her responsibility is to them, not to him. She’s still taking courses. She may need to take some live. She has decided she wants to
be a pediatric nurse. We encourage that and we’ll happily pay for it. If we need to bring someone in for the girls when Sandy switches to on campus courses, probably in spring semester, we’ll do that.

6/5: Rhoda: We’re looking at 7 transfers. We have a spot.

6/9: RCC: We offer to a PG from Illinois.

6/12: RCC: No luck. We’ll go to recruiting with 4 scholarships.

6/26: RCC: Looking at 18, mostly bigs.

Daisy: Life is good. I love our little family, and I’m so pleased that my sister Sandy is with us, and that she is finally focusing in on a career path. Rhoda and I do not ever get enough time together but maybe that makes the time we do share even more precious.

Work is great. I run my operation with little to no interference, and I have great people to work with.

7/19: Daisy: Tanny took three steps today, laughed hysterically, and sat on the floor. She looked so proud of herself.

7/24: Tina finally took a few steps. Tanny is walking and flopping regularly but she usually lands on her bum so no problem. Sand has had to reposition everything on low shelves.

7/31: RCC: 9 recruits speaking to us regularly.

8/21: RCC: We offer to 2 guards, 2 bigs, but they’re all iffy.

8/22: “Gary Gray, EPSN Sportschat. Here with Rhoda Chayne Cox, head coach of the Cornell Big Red men’s basketball team. Rhoda, we gave you a few months to yourself but things are happening in the hoop world. What’s it looking like for the 2036-2037 season?”

“Well Gary, we have 4 guys back who started part or all of last season’s games, and a few who played good minutes, and we have a terrific crop of newcomers.”

“Like who?”

“We have high hopes for juco inside player Josh Zimm. He looks like a big time player, and two other jucos, guard Day Lews, and Center Sal Cheeks could earn lots of minutes.”

“You’ve already made the decision to redshirt a kid.”

“Yes, we think guard Hal Burns could really make a contribution down the line, but he’s not ready yet. The extra year may be exactly what he needs.”

“Will you be at Cornell that long?”

“We love it here. We have no plans to be anywhere else.”

“And on the recruiting trail?”

“We have lots of guys talking with us but it’s too early to say much else. If you remember, we signed most of our guys in March and April last season. It may go that way again this year.”

“Okay. Thanks Rhoda. Fans, the bottom line is, this coach is too good for the Ivy League. If no one snaps her up this spring, someone will next spring- and we’re talking a mid-major at the very least. You heard it here first, Rhoda Chayne Cox will end up at an elite program, and she’ll eventually win at least one national championship, but my guess is that it will be more than one. And THAT will shatter the barrier for other women coaches. Gary Gray, EPSN.”

9/18: Lost 2 but we feel we’re close with one, and we have high hopes for 3 others. 3 bigs and a guard at this point.

The schedule is more challenging, especially at home, and the good news is that 7 of our 13 pre-conf. games are at home, never more than 2 in a row away. So pleased with that, and yes, I thanked A. D. Hannah Rice.

10/2: RCC: Finally got a recruit, Am Dann, C, #45. 11 have said no so far. Tough year. Keep plugging away!

First day of practice. We will be much better defensively, and I LOVED what I saw of Day Lews on the Point, Josh Zimm at PF/C, and Sal Cheek inside. We have 7 who look like we’ll be able to put them in at any time, and 2-3 more who look like they could develop.

10/23: RCC: Getting closer with all three recruits we’re after.

Daisy: Happy birthday to Tina and Tanny! One year old today, walking, talking (sort of; doing more sign language than verbalizing, but they get their message across), full of life, love, energy. They have so enriched our lives!

11/6: RCC: Home and home exhibitions with Northeastern this week. Won both easily.

Okay, we do NOT have a settled lineup. I have 3 guys getting lots of minutes at the two guard spots, and a 4th getting some. I have 4 guys equally splitting the minutes at 3, 4, and 5. It will sort itself out. If we lose a couple of games along the way, oh well. In the end we’ll be stronger.

At guard it’s senior Jay Alan, junior Cris West, both returnees, and juco junior Day Lews, getting most of the minutes, with returning junior Ross Mills getting a few at PG.

Up front, senior Craig Tice and juniors Sal Cheek (a juco), Josh Zimm (another juco), and Rob Rain getting about 30 min. each. The guys who earn the time will get the time.

11/12: Ray Ratso, Westhammer Sports Radio: “I’m here with Rhoda Cox, head coach of- well, you know. First game is tomorrow, Rhoda. What do ya think?”

“Well Ray, I love what I’ve seen in practice and in the two exhibition games. We have lots of weapons.”

“I got to practice today. I agree. Josh Zimm looks like he’d get it done at any level.”

“We love the potential. Sal Cheek, too, and Day Lews.”

“My favorite name in sports since tight end Fair Hooker.”

“Yeah. How about TOs?”

“I like what I’ve seen, especially lately. I think we’re well on our way to fixing that problem.”

“Predictions for the season?”

“Nope. I don’t do that.”

“Goals for the season?”

“1. Match or better the 10-3 we did in pre-conf. play last season. 2. Win the Ivy regular season. 3. Win the Ivy tournament. 4. Win at least one in the NCAA tournament. 5. Finish in the top 25.”

“Ambitious!”

“If you don’t aim high you become a bottom feeder.”

“We’ll be checking in from time to time. Good luck, Coach.”

11/13: RCC: At North Dakota to start the season. We got here a day early. It is not a destination!

31-24 at the half. 6 TOs in the half!

65-42 at the end. 8 TOs for the game! -4 RBs and we were whistled for 11 more fouls, but we’ll work on those things. We held them to 26.2% from the floor. 19, 5, 2, 2 for juco Josh Zimm. 10 and 10 for Craig Tice, 9 and 6 for Sal
Cheek. Good bench play.

At Monmouth next, then back home. Just a 4 day road trip.

11/15: RCC: 45-30 at the half. +6 RBs, 3 TOs. Lovin’ it!

82-61. 11 TOs (+9), +1 RB. Fouls were even. 17, 10 for Sal Cheek, 21 for Zimm. 14 for Cris West, 13 for Day Lews.

Zimm and Cheek will get starters minutes. Rain and Tice will evenly divide the rest.

Home for 3 games and for 12 days. Love it!

Hofstra is first and it’s already sold out. We’ve instituted a student lottery for tix; that was never a consideration before this year.

11/18: RCC: 39-24 at the half. 7 TOs, +9 RBs.

71-52, but it wasn’t that close. +11 RBs, +11 TOs (8). 21, 14, 3 for Craig Tice, 17, 6 for Zimm.

11/22: RCC: 38-34 over 2-0 Eastern Michigan before another sellout crowd here. 5 TOs, -1 RBs.

86-72. We had legs, and we opened the game up late. 9 TOs (+10), -3 RBs. 20, 3, 5, 3 for Alan, 17, 10 for Rain, his first standout game of the season. Good bench play again.

Next is 3-0 Penn ST, still here.

Daisy: Sandy was in an auto accident with the twins in the car. They were both strapped into their car seats properly, and neither was hurt, but Sandy suffered a fractured wrist, and many contusions and abrasions. The twins were terrified.

My mom flew in from Philadelphia, and she’ll stay with us until Sandy can manage on her own, but that may be a while, As of 8 hours after the crash Sandy is complaining of severe back and neck pain.

11/25: RCC: 47-35 at the half. 7 TOs (+5). Day Lews had 13, 3, 2, and 2.

94-69. We never trailed. +4 TOs, +4 RBs, committed 4 fewer fouls. Day Lews had 25, 4, 5, 2. Seems like a different guy leads us every game. 20 for Sal Cheek, 14, 3, 4 for Jay Alan.

5-0, RPI #22. We are on the verge of being ranked! But the next two are on the road, the 2nd with #4 ranked Cincinnati; win or lose that will tell us a lot about ourselves.

Daisy: Sandy is really struggling with pain. Her wrist fracture was compound and it’s one source, but the neck and back are the real issues. I am not certain I can go on this road trip. I don’t to leave her for the five days we’ll be gone. Rhoda and I are discussing alternatives. Basically, they are either leave my assistant in charge with the athletic trainer stuff with the team and stay home, or hire RNs and PT people to come in while we’re away. Mom’s here, and she’s a pediatric nurse so that’s a help, but this is outside of her area of expertise. We have 48 hours to decide. In the meantime I’m going back and forth from school to home.

11/27: Daisy: I stayed home. I can’t leave my sister. Rhoda is fine with it, and my assistant is excellent.

11/29: Rhoda: At 4-1 Lipscomb. 27-34. First time all season we’re down at the half. +8 RBs, -2 TOs; we’re not hitting shots and we’re not playing good D.

Not tonight, 61-69. +13 RBs, a season high 18 TOs (-4), 32.2% shooting to their 52.1%. 16, 10 for Zimm, 14, 8 for Rain, 13, 4 for Cheek, but very little outside.

And the #4 team in the country, Cincinnati, 6-2, is next- there.

12/2: RCC: 30-33 at the half. We’re holding our own but poor shot selection is doing us in, and we need more from our bench, esp. West and Mills.

64-75. They were the better team. After the game I told my guys no more losses in the pre-conf. season, and no more than 2 before March.

“And it’s on me. I’ll show you how to reach that goal but you need to do the work. The schedule favors this and we can do it. You in?”

They roared that they were. THAT’S how you turn a loss into a win!

"Remember this date, December 2, 2036. The day it turned around!”

Daisy: Sandy is really suffering. We see a specialist on Tuesday. It’s spine related, which is usually not good. The kids visit here but we tell them she can’t pick them up, and they can’t stay long. They get it. They’re both fine, and they seem to have recovered from the trauma of the accident. We started taking them for short car rides immediately to prevent any stigma. It will be good to have Rhoda home. We need “all hands on deck” right now. Nothing more than 2 days away until mid-January, thankfully, and we’re home until 12/15 right now.

Re: Rhoda Cox

Postby Wayne23 » Mon May 16, 2016 5:00 am

12/6: RCC: 3 in a row at home. 1-4 UMass is first. Despite the back to back losses we were greeted by a loud enthusiastic SRO crowd.

35-27 at the half. I was NOT happy with 12 1st half TOs. Bench play was awful. I lit into the guys and told them I was demanding a better 2nd half.

I got it. 69-47, 3nd half TOs, held UMass to 18 points, +14 RBs in the 2nd, great bench play. 23, 12, 2 for Rain, 17, 8, 6, 3 for Tice, 10 and 7, with 3 steals and 4 blocks for Cheek.

Daisy: The specialist is sending Sandy to PT twice a week. She will do a series of exercises several times each day. The specialist says it may take some time but she believes Sandy will get much better, and without surgery.

Dad passed away a few years ago. Mom is, and always has been, a very strong, very independent woman. But she also has a strong sense of family. She has decided to move here, to be closer to family, and to allow our youngest sister, Mali, now 8 ½, to get to know all of us. When Sandy is well enough Mom will find a pediatric nursing position here, but for now she’ll help with the twins. She and Mali are staying in a beautiful 41 foot RV on our property.

12/9: RCC: 3-4 Tennessee St is here. Somebody passed a law making D illegal in the first half, 58-48. Sal Cheek had 21. I told the guys 58 was pretty awesome but giving up 48 was not. We’ll tighten up in the 2nd.

104-78. 46-30 in the 2nd half. 10 TOs (+7), +5 RBs. 29, 9, 4 for Cheek, 19, 5, 3 for Zimm, 20, 2, 3 for Lews.

2-6 Maine to end the 3 game home stand.

Daisy: Sandy reports that she is feeling a little better. Mom makes sure that she does not skip her exercises. She is back at school but it isn’t easy. Mom drives her to the door of each building where she has a classroom, or as close to it as she can get, and picks her up there after classes.

Mali is good with the kids but it’s not her thing. She is a big time reader.

12/13: 39-21 at the half. 6 TOs. Balanced scoring.

74-60. We went through the motions in the second half, and they heard about it, and will hear lots more in practice. I wound up playing the end of the bench and the walk ons to send a message.

On our way to the beautiful Bay Area to meet 4-2 San Francisco.

12/16: 44-28 at the half. 3 TOs, +7 RBs. 12, 4 for Cheek.

They got it to 4, then we opened up. 83-60 at the end. +15 RBs, 9 TOs. Cheek had 28 and 9, Zimmhad 16, 4, 2.

12/18: Margie Markham, Sports illuminated Live: “We’re here with Cornell men’s basketball coach Rhoda Chayne Cox. Rhoda, 9-2, RPI #25. 2 to play before the Ivy League starts up. Satisfied?”

“Never! We are playing well though. Our guys are working hard, and all in all it’s a talented group.”

“You’re turning around one of the worst programs in Div. I, and quickly. How are you managing it.”

“Well, it’s a ‘we’ not an ‘I,’ but we’re managing it through focusing on the art of the possible. We aren’t asking anyone to do anything they aren’t capable of, but we ARE asking everyone to do everything they ARE capable of. It’s about taking on the challenge of working harder than you ever have, harder than you thought was even possible. It’s about being willing to work at specific things in specific ways.”

“How much of your success do you attribute to your own college hoop coach, Geno Auriemma?”

“Pretty much all of it. I use his system, his techniques, his tactics. He was the best ever, and he made me way better as a player than I ever thought I could be.”

“Are you still in contact with him?”

“Geno is 81, and in very good health. We speak regularly. He tells me he watches our games. Trust me, he sees things no one else would see, and he passes all of that along. I love the guy.”

“Just about all of the people who played for him do. Thanks Rhoda, and continued success.”

12/20: RCC: We’re back at home playing the Kona Sweatyballs. At the half it’s 49-31. 2 TOs in the half (+9). Cheek has 14, 0, 3, 3, and Rob Rain has 13 and 4.

We ran away with it in the 2nd before I put the subs in and it got a little closer. 85-61. 6 TOs for the entire game, (+12). 20, 5, 3, 3 for Cheek, 17, 5 for Rain, 15, 3, 4 for Lews, 14, 5, 4, 1, 3 for Zimm.

One more to play before league play begins, at 3-5 CCSU.

12/23: 34-21 at the half. They’re scrappy but they can’t match our level of talent. We had balanced scoring, 5 with 6 each.

We quickly got it to 20. 61-46. We didn’t shoot well but we played great D. I was not pleased with 18 TOs, but 40 RBs was nice. 16, 7 for Cheek. 14, 4, 4, 3, 2 for Lews, but 8 TOs.

12/25: RCC: 11-2, RPI #33, +15.9 PPG, +5.1 RBs, +5.5 TOs (11.9). Great pre-conf. season, and we met goal #1, no losses after Cincy.

Daisy: It was a wonderful holiday. The kids were so much fun, including Mali.

Sandy is feeling much better, almost 100%. When school restarts next week she will be back on kid duty, as well as back at school. Mom starts a part time pediatric nursing job on Weds., 19 hours a week.

We are off until 1/3!

Re: Rhoda Cox

Postby Wayne23 » Tue May 17, 2016 12:31 am

1/31: RCC: At the half it’s 35-14 over 8-13, 1-7 Brown. 5 TOs (+5), +11 RBs.

79-55. I didn’t want to beat them up any more than necessary. +19 RBs, 11 TOs. 18, 13, 2 for Rob Rain. 5 in double figures.

2 up on Penn and Dartmouth with 5 to play.

At 10-12, 4-5 Princeton next.

2/3: RCC: 42-22 at the half. 4 TOs (+10), +5 RBs. We are completely dominating inside.

65-53. We kind of fell asleep in the second half. They’ll hear about that! +8 RBs, +10 TOs (12). 17, 7 for Cheek, 14, 6 for Tice.

2/5: RCC: RANKED!!! First time in program history. #20, RPI #15. 20-3, 9-1. Only Dartmouth, 16-7, 7-3, is 2 back and they are here next. We won by 2 there.

2/7: RCC: 35-33 at halftime. +11 RBs, poor shooting, worse D.

8-0 to start the 2nd. 60-52 at the end. +8 RBs, +5 TOs. 18, 11 for Zimm.

11-13, 3-8 Harvard is here. They beat us by 12 there, our most recent loss.

2/10: RCC: Halftime score is 49-34.

87-66 and that clinches the Ivy regular season title. 22, 5 for Rain, 15, 3, 7 for, Lews.

2/12: 22-3, 11-1, #16, RPI #18.

At 16-10, 7-5, 3rd place Penn next.

2/14: RCC: 32-334 at the half. -6 TOs (They had only 1!).

67-70. They hit a very late 3. -12 TOs (19), +4 RBs, we committed 8 more fouls. 17, 6 for Cheek, 15, 5, 5 for Alan.

We finish the regular season with 12-14, 6-7 Columbia here. We won by 7 there.

2/17: RCC: 45-23 at the half. Not pretty.

76-54. Never a game. 6 TOs (+12). Team effort.

Ross Mills hurt his back. Out about a week, but no games scheduled during that time.

2/19: “Ray Ratso, Westhammer Sports Radio, here with Rhoda Chayne Cox, head coach of Cornell. Coach, 23-4, 12-2, #18, RPI #15. Not bad.”

“Not bad at all. I thought we’d do some damage this season and, for the most part the guys have not let me down. +13.1 PPG, +5.4 RBs, +4.8 TOs.”

“Talk about that last stat. That was a real issue last year.”

“Day Lews at PG has made a huge difference, and it’s something we work on in every practice.”

“Predictions for the post-season?”

“No, but I WILL say that we expect to be a very tough out.”

“Thanks Coach.”

Postby Wayne23 » Tue May 17, 2016 9:40 am

#8 seed Brown, 10-17, 3-11, in the quarters. Beat ‘em by 28 and 24.

3/3: RCC: 50-34 at the half. 3 TOs (+9). Rain, Alan, and Tice are leading the way.

77-58. Never trailed. +9 TOs (12). 17, 4, 8, 2, 3 for Alan, 17, 7, 3, 2 for Tice, 16, 7, 1, 3 for Rain.

#5 seed Columbia, 13-15, 6-8, won their game so it’s them in the semis. Beat them by 7, then by 22.

3/4: RCC: 41-40. It’s a battle! Dumb fouls; we have 6 guys with either 2 or 3 fouls. I really raised hell at halftime. And then I told them I was ramping up the D, and they’d better play smart.

We got the lead to double digits within a few minutes, then we ran away and hid. They came back some late, but it was already decided, 83-69. 29, 4, 2, 3 for Lews.

#3 seed Penn, 20-10, 9-5, for the title. We won by 10 at our place, then lost by 3 there.

3/5: RCC: 41-36 at halftime. We were called for 6 more fouls. The rest of the stats were pretty even.

We quickly got the lead to 10, and then built on that. 83-66. 16 each for Rain and Alan, 15 for Cheek, and the Ivy title!

26-4, 12-2, #17, RPI #14. Regular season and tourney titles. Hoping for a #4 or #5 seed.

3/12: RCC: #6 East. We play #11 Central Michigan, 22-9. A win would mean we reached or surpassed all of our goals.

3/16: 38-29 at the half. We led all the way. 4 TOs (+5). Tice has 4 fouls, Cheek 3, Rain 2.

91-71. Even whistle happy refs couldn’t stop us. +9 TOs (8), +8 RBs (41). 23, 8 for Sal Cheek, 19, 9, 2, 3 for Josh Zimm, 15, 7, 6 for Jay Alan, 16, 5, 4 for Day Lews.

#3 seed North Carolina, 23-9, next. Great program, proud history. This is a huge challenge.

3/19: RCC: 34-35 at the half. They led by as many as 11 but we never quit. +6 RBs.

The dream ends here. They jumped out to a quick lead and expanded it. 59-75 at the end.

Last game for Jay Alan and Craig Tice.

4/4: RCC: Unranked Miami, a #7 seed, won it all, 62-49.

Awards: Juniors Josh Zimm and Sal Cheek made the Ivy 1st team. Juniors Day Lews and Rob Rain made 2nd. I won COY again.

4/5: “Gary Gray, EPSN, with super successful Cornell men’s hoops coach. Rhoda Chayne Cox. Rhoda, they’re calling you the queen of college basketball.”

“I love it!”

“27-5, 12-2, 1st place and tourney champs in the Ivy, one win in the Big Dance. Quite the season.”

“And four junior all stars coming back! I couldn’t be prouder of our guys. They worked hard and reaped some pretty awesome rewards.”

“You’re right that most of the team is back. Will you be?”

“I expect to be, Gary.”

“You’re ambitious.”

“When the time is right, and if the situation is right, we’ll consider our options. No way to tell when that will be but we’re happy here.”

“Thanks coach.”

4/9: RCC: Oregon ST wants us. Team Prestige of 48, most players back from a 15-14, 9-9 season, very good facilities…

After discussing it with the family, it’s time for a move! Oh, my salary jumps from $100,000 to $305,000, just a little more than I was making at UMass, and with the endorsement, we are doing VERY well. Oregon ST offered Daisy the athletic trainer job, at a 35% pay increase. She took it!

The kids will stay East until the end of Sandy and Mali’s school year. Sandy and the kids will fly our here middle of May, and mom and Mali in the middle of June. Daisy and I will fly back East as often as possible until the kids join us, and we’ll help Sandy with day care.

Sandy will enroll in Oregon St for the fall semester.

We’re house hunting.

4/12: “Gary Gray, EPSN Sportschat. We just learned that Cornell men’s basketball coach Rhoda Chayne Cox has accepted the head job at Oregon ST, and will leave immediately to coach the … … … Beavers.”

4/16: RCC: John Rowe is the only returning coach. He was #2, is now #1, and he will be my bench/practice coach; I will miss Ken Maso, but John seems like a great guy, and he knows the team and the players. Martin Woods is our

#2. He was #3 at Washington; he’ll recruit. #3 is Cade Hill, and he’ll scout. He did that at Washington ST.

We offered full price on a beautiful property, 8 acres. It has a 5 bedroom house, and room to build another, which we will do. While it’s being built the twins will double up, which they do anyway. As they get older they will want their own rooms. The second house will be for mom and Mali. The main house has 4 bedrooms, three baths upstairs, the usual stuff plus master bedroom on the main floor, and a finished basement with a very large room that I will use as a study and for viewing game videos, a smaller, but good size study for Daisy, and what will be a large playroom for the twins.

4/23: RCC: I ask for a budget increase. Got it. We’ll have $122,262 to work with after coaching salaries are paid.

Re: Rhoda Cox

Postby Wayne23 » Wed May 18, 2016 1:47 am

(Author’s Note: When no one is indicated after the date, it’s Rhoda)

5/1: We buy the West gold, national and international basic.

Daisy: Got the house. We can move in on 6/1.

6/3: Daisy: Moving completed- well, all the stuff is in. Sandy and the kids arrive on Sunday- HOORAY!!! Lots of stuff to put away, rearrange, get “unlost”…

6/5: Looking at some transfers. We have two open spots and we offer to 2 centers, both of whom look pretty good.

6/12: Marv Brown, Iowa ST, said yes. We see him as a 3/4. The other one (who was better) said no, went elsewhere. No one else we want.

6/21: Daisy: Everyone is here. Mom and Mali arrived today. House is beautiful, land is wonderful. View is awesome. It’s 2 ½ miles from campus. Construction starts on Mom and Mali’s house tomorrow. The hope is that it will be ready for occupancy by mid-September. The market is slow so we were able to contract with people who are desperate for work; won’t save us any money but should save us a lot of time.

6/26: After a little housecleaning we will have 6 scholarships. We will need them. After viewing LOTS of video there’s a much bigger job of rebuilding ahead of us than I had thought. Oh well, I can do this.

TONS of interest, which I take as a compliment! We’re looking at 25 to start.

7/15: Daisy: We’re settling in nicely. It’s a bit crowded but we all get along so it isn’t a problem, and the twins LOVE having all of these people around. Mom was hired by the Oregon ST day care facility as their full time pediatric R. N.

It’s a last week of August through first week of December, and 3rd week of January through first week of May position, which she thinks is perfect.

8/21: We offer to 3 guards, 3 PGs.

8/30: First day of school for Sandy and Mali. Mom and the twins are off to Baby Beaver Day Care.

9/18: Got 2: Mal Paye, #41, PF, from Vancouver, Canada, and Khal Mill, #36, PG.

Invited to the Hawaiian Shootout in November! My first in season tourney on the men’s side! Interesting schedule.

9/25: We got PF/C Fabi Stah, #24, from Italy, and PG Jon Raye, #96. Lost a PG.

10/2: We got C/PF Lu Bai, #34, from China. One to go.

First day of practice. I don’t see this team making a big impression in the PAC 12. Neither do the pollsters. Pretty much all of them have us at 11th in the 12 team conf. I’m aiming for 5 or 6, but that may be unrealistic. Let’s see how willing these guys are to work and learn.

Jeb Forrest, my A. D., wants us to win 15, make the NIT, improve Team Prestige, and finish… 6th.

11/6: We have a lineup, or a tentative lineup; 4 guards, 4 bigs, and one of each on standby:

Our go to guard (for now) is senior Des Law. Also at guard are senior Jam Fox, junior Steve Chab, and soph By Hart.

SF is split almost equally between soph Carl Jax, who will also play some PF, and frosh Gray Lake.

Inside it’s senior Jak Nix and junior walk on Joe Kell.

I expect changes.

11/7: “Gary Gray, EPSN Sportschat, and we have Rhoda Chayne Cox on the line. Rhoda, new season, new job. How’s everything in Beav- at Oregon ST.?”

“As expected, Gary. I’m hoping expectations aren’t too high. This will definitely be a rebuilding year.”

“Uh oh.”

“Well… I don’t know that we’re awful but it’s going to take a year before we’re ready for the level of competition in the PAC 12.”

“Not there yet?”

“I’m not sure. We’re a LOT better than we were 5 ½ weeks ago, but my gosh, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, Cal. Berkeley, Stanford. Yikes!”

“Heck of a job recruiting. You’ve got 5 commitments and three look like blue chippers, and the other two don’t look bad.”

“We’re really close to our last guy, a top 40 PG.”

“So watch out next year!”

“I think we’ll be very competitive next year, but the year after is when I expect us to be really, really good.”

“Okay, but first there’s this year. All the best, Rhoda.”

“Thank Gary. We may need it!”

Postby Wayne23 » Fri May 20, 2016 10:35 am

11/14: We open at 0-1 North Carolina Central. 33-28 at the half, but we were up 14 at one point. I let the guys know we do NOT let up. Joe Kell at C, and Gray Lake at SF but from the bench, led the way. +7 RBs.

Back and forth for most of the half then we went on an 11-2 run. 67-60 at the end. +14 RBs but a horrible 27 TOs (They had 22). We won it inside. Kell and Lake had 16 each; Nix had 10 and 8. Off to Hawaii!

We’re the #7 seed in this 8 team tourney. We face #2 Tennessee, 1-0 to start.

11/18: 34-33 at the half. A pleasant surprise. +6 RBs, +2 TOs.

They turned it up in the 2nd half and we couldn’t stay with them. 57-78. We need more O from our guards. Bigs played decent ball.

11/20: All 5 recruits signed.

11/21: Home opener at Ralph Miller Court at Gill Coliseum vs. 2-0 Akron. Good crowd but not a sellout.

35-34 at halftime. 16 lead changes, 6 ties. +10 RBs, 6 TOs, but called for 5 more fouls.

80-69. Very good inside play allowed us to open it up late. +16 RBs, +2 TOs (12). Called for 8 more fouls. 23, 10, 2, 3 for PF/C Nix. 12, 9, 2 for Jax.

At 2-1 Georgetown next.

11/24: 45-36 at the half. +7 RBs, good inside play in general.

Whew! 77-76. They missed on their last 3 possessions. +8 RBs, +2 TOs, 8 fewer fouls. Nix led us again with 25, 9, 5. 19 for Kell.

11/27: Dan Burks, #42, PG, commits.

2-1 Butler is in town, and I’m told we may have our first sellout.

31-34 at the half. 5 more fouls, 5 more TOs, 4 more RBs. Ramp up the D!

Got it to 2, but they were tough, and they took over. 71-79. 26, 7 for Nix who is definitely our leader. 15, 7, 2 for Kell. 13, 4 for Jax. The problem is the backcourt. Des Law is the only guard averaging more than 2.0 PPG, and he’s only at 7.0. We have three guards coming in, maybe a 4th, and we’re going to need them. This year? Hm…

At 1-2 Wofford.

12/1: 43-35 at the half. Stats are pretty even, except that we’re shooting better, and that’s about shot selection more than anything else. Out 2nd, 3rd and 4th guards combined for 15, a season high for a game, let alone a half.

89-63. Kicked butts! +11 TOs. 89-63. Kicked butts! +11 TOs. 20, 7 for joe Kell, 18, 7 for Jay Nix, 15, 5, 3, 4 for Carl Jax. Back up guard By Hart had 16, with 7 assists.

Daisy: I guess life around here is as “normal” as it is going to get. Mom and Mali got into their home only about 10 days late. They spend a lot of time here, which everyone agrees is great. The twins are 2 and terrible- well, not terrible, but into EVERYTHING!!! Sandy, mom, and even Mali, do a great job with them. Our schedules are flexible enough that except for Beaver Babies Day Care we never need a non-family member to watch them. Oh, and life is good- very good!

12/5: 1-3 San Jose ST is here. 44-26 at the half. +5 RBs, +4 TOs, 4 fewer fouls.

80-59. This one was a breeze. +9 TOs. Nix had 18, 5, 3, Law had 16, 3, 5.

5-2 Tulane is here next.

12/13: 45-37 at halftime. +8 RBs. Nix has 15 and 6.

88-86. Joe Kell knocked down an 8 footer with 19 left, and we held on. We almost blew a second half lead of 13. 21, 9 for Nix. 18, 4, 4 for Jax.

6-2. We close non-conf. play with 4-6 Delaware ST here.

12/19: 42-37 at halftime. 2 TOs (!). All but 5 points came inside. Thinking of goingt o “Favor Inside.”

73-66, but it wasn’t that close; they scored the last 5. 7 TOs for the game. 12, 13 for Jax, 16, 5 for Nix, 13 for sub Gray Lake, 11 for sub Wade Lonn- both are bigs. 59 of our points came inside.

7-2 for pre-conf. play, RPI #15, which is ridiculously inflated; we played a weak schedule. +5.1 PPG, +5.3 RBs, +2.7 TOs (14.6). BUT… the PAC 12 is strong. I would be thrilled with 9-9.

12/24: “Gary Gray, EPSN Sportschat, here with the head coach of the Oregon St Beavers men’s basketball team. Rhoda Chayne Cox. Rhoda, 7-2. Not bad.”

“I am pleasantly surprised, to be honest.”

“Not the toughest schedule…”

“No, but Tennessee, Akron, Butler, Georgetown, San Jose ST, Tulane, and only Tennessee beat us badly..”

“How will you fare in the PAC 12. The experts say 11th of 12, but our goal is to finish in the top ½. That won’t be easy.”

“Guard play seems to be the issue.”

“Yes and no. We handle the ball decently- not well, but +2.7 TOs, so that’s a positive. But we get only 18.3 of our 75.8 from our 5 guards. Not good.”

“And so?”

“And so we have at least 3 guards coming in next year.”

“At least?”

“We may make a roster move come March- and that’s all I’ll say about that.”

“How do you like the Pacific Northwest?”

“We love it. Our family is all settled in. The people here are very friendly and accepting. We don’t have a lot of time to socialize but our neighbors have been very welcoming and we chat when we can find a minute.”

“You open at 5-4 Colorado, and then go to #4 ranked Stanford.”

“Yep, we’re jumping right in.”

“Best of luck, Coach.”

12/25: Daisy: The kids, and the rest of us had a wonderful day- good food, great presents, a chance to relax and be together as a family.

Re: Rhoda Cox

Postby Wayne23 » Sat May 21, 2016 5:58 pm

12/26: 31-35 at the half. Stats are very even. We’re working hard to stay in it but so far we’re close. No serious foul issues so we’ll tighten the D.

No. We could not match their talent level. 72-81. It could be a long conference season. +9 RBs, only -2 TOs, but they were quicker and got lots of open shots, and they hit them, 58.8% from the floor. 15, 10 for Kell, 18, 6 for Nix.

At #4 Stanford, 12-1, 1-0, next.

12/29: 40-48. We’re actually playing really well, but they are GOOD! We’re going full man, ramping up the D from 6 to 8. They’re too quick for us to press much, if at all.

They hammered us, 69-92. 21 TOs (-12) but their guards were very good and very quick. Our bigs didn’t do badly.

My biggest job is to not let our guys get too far down. We will be competitive at home with most of the teams in the PAC 12, and on the road with some. I have not given up on 9-9 yet.

It doesn’t get a lot easier. #23 ranked UCLA, 8-4, 1-1, is next, here.

1/2: 30-35 at the half. All 3 of our starting bigs have 3 fouls.

64-60. We scored the last 8 points. Great comeback! 17 lead changes, 10 ties. The margin was never more than 7. * more fouls, 6 fewer RBs, 4 fewer TOs. 15, 2, 4 for sub SF/PF Gary Lake. 12, 1, 6 for Des Law. 38, 13, 6 for the bench, and that was the difference.

We NEEDED this one!

At 5-7, 0-3 Washington ST next.

1/5: 38-30 at the half. Except for shooting stats (47.6%-30.8%) the numbers are pretty even. 12 for Jax and not much outside scoring.

74-69. We went O/D at the end and took a 1 point lead up to 8 before they hit a last second 3. 12 fewer fouls. Jax and Lake had 18 each. 15, 8 for Kell.

9-4, 2-2. If we can go 5-3 for the next 8, and we could, we’ll be fine.

At 9-6, 1-3 Washington next.

1/9: 37-38 in the locker. -5 TOs (10). 8, 7 for Kell.

49-65. Can’t win with a 12 point 2nd half. -11 TOs.

#15 Oregon, 11-5, 3-2, is in town.

1/12: 33-37 at the half. +5 RBs, -5 TOs.

68-64. Big win! 6 fewer fouls. 26, 6, 3 with 4 blocks for Nix. 14, 5 for Kell, 9, 3, 4 for Law.

At 10-5, 3-3 Utah next. This would be a great road win if we can get it.

1/16: 28-33 at the half. It’s been within 6 all the way but they’re a good team. We’ve been called for 6 more fouls. Jax has 12 and 6. Not a single point from any of our five guards; I’m going with “Favor Inside” for the 2nd. As usual I’ll ramp up the D a couple of notches.

64-80. They really took it to us in the 2nd. 2 more RBs, but 8 more fouls called on us, and 7 more TOs. The latter two happen when the other team is quicker, which they were. 18, 10 for Jax, 10, 9 for Kell, 14, 3, 2, 2 doe Nix.

Guards had 11 in the 2nd half but the only one we get consistent play from is Des Law. With the other 4 there’s no way to tell what we’ll get. Frustrating. We’re talking about going with a one guard set up; Lake and Lonn are giving us much better minutes than any of those 4 guards.

Okay, Wade Lonn, Gray Lake, and maybe even Jak Nix are all going to play some SG.

2-14, 0-7 USC is here next.

Daisy: First serious, but not terribly serious twin injury. Tanny fell and, as it turns out, fractured her left clavicle. This is a very common toddler injury. Sandy was watching her at the time. Usually, when one of the twins gets hurt she cries for a while and quickly stops. But Tanny didn’t stop, kept saying it hurt. Sandy finally called me. I was able to come right home, and I did a little checking. It seemed obvious that it was a fracture so we took her in. All they do is put a wrap around it and use a sling, for about six weeks. She’ll be fine. Tina is very sympathetic. We’ll see how long that lasts!

1/19: 31-28 at the half. 10 TOs, which is not a lot more than normal.

61-54. 15 TOs, which is a little better than our average (16.1 before the game) so we’ll stay with the one guard thing, at least for now. 16, 5, 2, 7 for Kell, 14, 4, for Nix, 10 for Lonn.

Tanny is playing it for all it’s worth, but she’s fine. There’s a little pain if she stretches wrong or turns too quickly.

Rematch with 10-7, 5-3 Colorado here. They won by 9 there in the season opener.

We are at 11-6, 4-4, tied for 7th, but one back of 3rd, 2 back of 2nd. RPI #21. If we can keep this up, I’ll be thrilled. Not to jinx us but the injury monster has not hit yet this year.

1/23: 42-31 at the half. 4 fewer TOs, 5 fewer fouls, 3 more RBs. 13 for Law, 10 for Jax.

71-58, but it wasn’t that close. We were up 22 when I emptied the bench. +9 RBs, +5 fouls, +3 TOs. 15, 10, 2, 2 for Nix. Lake and Lonn had 15, 4, 2 at SG.

At 15-5, 6-3 California next.

1/26: 29-44. Looks like one of those nights.

63-78. We played a very good 2nd half, holding them even. 18 TOs. 24, 6 for Kell.

12-7, 5-5, RPI .2 way tie for 6th, 1 back of 4th, 2 back of 2nd, with a favorable schedule- 5- of 8 at home, only 2 ranked teams.

1/29: Everybody hit the SAT score.

Postby Wayne23 » Sun May 22, 2016 11:35 am

11-9, 6-4 Arizona ST is here, and we have a sellout!

1/30: 39-42 at the half. These guys are tough. 18, 4 for Kell.

76-85. I am NOT happy. Lousy D at the end; we gave this one away.

At 14-7, 8-3, 2nd place Arizona.

2/2: 37-26 at the half. I’m delighted. I guess the butt kicking I’ve been doing at practice is paying off. Still, it ain’t over ‘til- well, you know. 6 TOs is the key. If we continue to take care of the ball we’ll be okay. 14, for Nix, 8, 5, 4, for Law. We need more from the bench in the 2nd. We’re in good shape regarding fouls.

In charge all the way. 60-44. +16 RBs. We were awful with the ball in the 2nd, 12 TOs (18 for the game) but nothing mattered. Every time they put 2 baskets in a row up, we answered with 2-3 of out own. 18, 7, 2 for Nix, 11, 8, 4 for law but 6 TOs, 4 in the 2nd.

In a 4 way tie for 5th at 13-8, 6-2, but 4 of our last 6 are at home and only one ranked team left. We’re 2 back of 4th but I’d love to end up 5th.

Junior big man Clay Arn is too good to sit, but he’s the odd man out.

Daisy: Tanny is as good as new. She wound up wearing the wrap for longer than we thought but she’s fine now.

#5 ranked Stanford, alone in 1st in the PAC 12, 21-3, 10-2, is here next. Toughest left on the schedule. We really could win all of the others- not saying we will, but we could.

2/6: 26-42. They’re tough. -7 RBs.

54-77. Wasn’t going to happen against these guys. Turn the page.

2/7: Bones McKee, New York Daily Noose: Okay, I gotta write it. Screw “politically correct.” Yeah, somebody sooner or later had to give some lady coach a men’s hoop team. Why, I do not know. They got their own (weak ass) game.

So Cornell did it with Rhoda Chayne Cox- quite the name tho! For two years she beat up on cupcakes over there while the men she coached shut up about playing for a broad because they knew that way lay danger. I’m sure they were thrilled when she moved on to the Oregon ST Beavers- and who says there’s no karma!

So, here she is, beating up on cupcakes AGAIN, and s---ting the bed against the tough teams just like she did at Cornell. This crap about the “queen” of men’s college hoops makes me want to puke. Women do not belong in the men’s game- plain and simple, and Miss Cox is proving it. There, I said it. Bring it on!

2/8: Dear Bones McKee: Go f*** yourself.

We have 5 left, 2 on the road. We need to go 3-0 at home, 1-1 on the road.

Next we’re at 13-10, 6-7 UCLA. This is a team we can beat.

2/9: 23-35 at the half. D*mn! -5 TOs, poor shot selection, not moving without the ball well enough, 4 points from the bench (They have 16). Not sure I can fix any of it, but giving it my best shot.

47-70. Nope. Can’t win scoring 47.

We need to break out, and NOW!

8-15, 3-11 Washington St, here. That should be the place to begin the turnaround.

2/13: 58-40 at the half. No complaints about the O! +7 RBs. Scoring spread out among 7 guys.

90-79. We didn’t play very well in the 2nd, but we hung on. +24 points in the paint and +18 fast break points. 18, 8, 2, 3 for Jax, 14, 14 for Nix, 6 in double figures.
The one guard experiment is working out, for the most part. TOs are up a little but guard scoring is up a lot.

12-14, 4-11 Washington is here next.

2/16: Firing on all cylinders, 41-15. The best half we’ve played all year. +13 TOs (6). Held them to 21.4%. 12 for Jax, 11 for Law.

66-49. +8 TOs, +6 RBs. 17, 5, 2 for Jax, 15, 6, 1, 2, 2 for Kell, 12, 3, 3, 2 for Law.

15-10, 8-8, tied for 6th. If we can finish 1-1 we should, hit all of our goals.

2/20: At 16-11, 8-8 Oregon. We’re tied with them for 6th. Big game and a huge challenge. We won by 4 at our place.

32-42 at the half. Bench and inside scoring are the differences.

Not to be. I tried everything I could think of. 57-76. 20 TOs. Bench play was 29, 10, 10 to 8, 4, 5. 17, 6 for Jax.

To add injury to insult, Jak Nix, our leading scorer, rebounder, shot blocker, and one of our two best defenders, broke his elbow, and that ends his college career. Clay Arn will get his minutes. We’re rolling the dice and giving Arn all of those minutes; he’s looked very good.

Alone in 7th. To finish 6th we need to beat 14-12, 7-10 Utah here, and 16-11, 9-8 UCLA needs to lose to 12-14, 7-10 Colorado at UCLA. Not looking great. All we can take care of is our game. We can tie with Oregon if they lose but they’d be ahead of us because of the win in our last game.

2/23: 39-35 at the half. Stats are pretty even except we’re shooting better. Arn stepped up, 8 and 5. 3 guys with 6, and only 6 TOs. Keep doin’ what we’re doin’!

We didn’t. It all fell apart, 53-70. 14 points in the 2nd half; 6-24 shooting. 14 TOs for the half. Arn had 10 and 5.

We finish the regular season 15-12, 8-10, tied for 7th, #8 seed. And our best player is out for the postseason.

-1.8 PPG, +2.8 RBs, -0.6 TOs.
