Help with roster file problem

Wonder if anyone could help, when I use the Custom Roster downloaded from the mod board, there are no players listed on any teams roster when the game starts up and the game starts in February. When I use generated roster the problem isn't there and the game started in March. Am I doing something wrong with the custom roster that would cause this. I didn't edit the roster and I tried the different versions of the roster that were included in the download. Appreciate any help.

Edit: Ok I tried the roster using sandbox mode and Seems to be working right. Does roster mod have to be used in sandbox?

Moved to Mod forum. I don't think there is anything about the mode that affects what roster you can start with.
