Data files

I'm creating a league using custom players. I adjusted the colleges in the colleges data file in the root folder, but when I create the league and look at the players, the colleges seem to be from the original file...even when I've deleted it. What am I missing?

You don't edit that file and overwrite it where it is... You make a copy of it in the Documents/Wolverine Studios/DDSCF17/ folder and edit that file.

Moving to Mods forum.

The typical way to mod is to copy .xml files from the program files game folder and put them in Documents\Wolverine Studios\DDSCF folder and the game will pick them up there. That allows you to update the game without worrying about the original installed files (or go back to the originals by deleting your mod)

Ah, thanks to you both. Been a bit since I've played with the game, and I'm used to the "Barcodegames" versions, where that was not the case.

Just realized something, but I don't know if it makes a difference. My question actually relates to DDS: PF 2018. I tried copying the text files for names, colleges, etc. into the \Documents\Wolverine Studios\DDSPF 2018 folder and created a game. The colleges were not the ones in the modified file. Is there something different I need to do with the Pro version?

DDSPF adds the teams from the college.txt list, but it also does a weighted college addition so that we get a good spread of realistic colleges in a pro league.

Unfortunately we'd have to patch the game to allow "only" the college.txt list.

So is it pulling colleges from within a hard-coded list within the software, rather than just from the text files?

Correct, there is a hardcoded weighted list that it adds so that we get a realistic distribution of US colleges based on the current NFL colleges.
