The Roadrunners of UT-San Antonio

Postby Robmeister89 » Wed Nov 30, 2016 2:38 pm

I'm going to be playing out a career as the UTSA Roadrunners to try to turn them into a powerhouse.. lets see how this goes starting with a 43 prestige! As a note, I'm going to let the CPU handle our recruiting for the start of my career so I can focus on coaching the games..

Won Conference USA!
Won the Wheat Bowl!
Finished with a 13-1 record and ranked #8!
On offense we're ranked no.1 in Points per game with 44.4...
Also ranked no.5 in Yards per game with 520.0
On defense ranked no.1 in Pass Yards against with only 199.2...

Week 1 at Kansas State (0-0) - L 44-51 OT
Week 2 vs Colorado (0-1) - W 34-31
Week 3 vs Idaho (1-1) - W 48-10
Week 4 at Southern Miss (0-3) - W 48-27
Week 5 BYE
Week 6 BYE
Week 7 at Charlotte (2-2) - W 51-13
Week 8 at UTEP (1-5) - W 31-20
Week 9 at North Texas (3-5) - W 41-31
Week 10 vs Louisiana Tech (8-1) - W 34-17
Week 11 vs #24 Old Dominion (8-2) - W 45-42
Week 12 vs Rice (5-6) - W 61-17
Week 13 vs Middle Tennessee (1-10) - W 49-28
Week 14 vs California (5-5) - W 45-16
Week 15 BYE
C-USA Championship vs Old Dominion (8-4) - W 41-14
Wheat Bowl vs #25 Eastern Michigan (11-2) - W 49-30

None of our opponents are ranked in the Pre-Season Top 25. I'll update this post with final scores and note if a team became ranked when I played them. I'll also post their records as I approach their game. My record will be reflected at the top.

This is the first time in all my 15 years of playing simulation sports that I've ever written one of these "dynasty reports" but this College Football game is great and I love coaching the games which made me want to write this.. I like the idea of a challenge and being a true underdog as a low prestige school.. I expect to lose to the great teams but we'll see if I can at least make a Bowl Game in year one!

Our first loss was apparently because of a bug.. I've shared my story's ending here:
viewtopic.php?f=232&t=25292

We'll fight back though and try to win out!

Some highlights from our first game...

K-State absolutely dominated us on the ground rushing for 283 yards on 47 carries (6.0 avg) and 3 touchdowns.

RB Davis had 3 rushing touchdowns of his own for us with 106 yards on 33 carries (just 3.2 avg).

Our QB Allen was picked off twice but had a monster game nonetheless with 442 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 28/46 passing. He compiled a 96.5 QBR.

Our defense forced 0 turnovers and was penalized 5 times for 34 yards (they had 20 yards on 3 penalties).

The time of possession was extremely identical at 32:42 (UTSA) and 32:54 (KSU).

The big difference was the 2 turnovers (both interceptions).. both of which resulted in touchdowns.

Our defense needs some work but we'll get back to it this week against Colorado!

Big time game coming up against Louisiana Tech! At 8-1 (5-1) they lead the CUSA West Division.. but a win and we take over first place after losing our first game of the season...

Could a win convince poll voters to place us in the Top 25? We currently rank no.42 so its not likely but 8-1 Louisiana Tech was recently ranked no.22 at 7-0 before losing their first game. Maybe the poll voters take notice? That's what I'm hoping..

Its been an incredible start to our season after losing our first game in 3rd OT. We lost our starting QB (who would've been benched anyways) after Week 2 and our no.1 starting OG is done for the year now as well.

We've locked down a handful of recruits so far.. 11 of them to be exact. All of which are 1 and 2 star players. I've targeted a few 3 star players to see if we can persuaded them but its not looking good right now. Maybe an increase in Prestige will help us get those 3 star recruits (we're a ways away from 5 star players!)..

Starting in year 2 we dropped from no.8 all the way to no.75 in the AP Power Rankings... that's very frustrating!

Seasons results have been moved to the second page!

Thanks! Been busy at work (playing this on my free time) and haven't had a chance this week but I'll certainly keep this going!

Beating a Power 5 school like Texas Tech was a huge boost for this team and in the rankings! We went from 81 to 51!

We will continue to schedule Power 5 schools on our non-conference schedule until they take us seriously!

Our defense had not 1 but 2(!) huge fourth down stops in the fourth to hold onto the 31-26 victory. The pollsters took notice of our win and bumped us 30 rankings.. now that we enter Conference play hopefully we can keep winning and eventually hop back into the Top 25.

A victory over Power-5 opponent South Florida inched us closer to the Top 25... Finally we jumped into the ranking after the victory over North Texas. The win over Old Dominion wasn't valued nearly as much as we only moved up 2 following that victory from 19 to 17.

We're attempting to steal a few 3-star LBs (we've got 6 senior Linebackers!) from a few Power-5 Conference schools.. we'll see how that goes in the coming weeks!

Finally got back to playing my career mode at work... we have nearly jumped into the top-10 as we continue to win!

We're trying to win over some 3-star recruits.. we'll see how that goes..

Great News! We landed our first 3-star recruit. He is only ranked #734 but that's a huge boost for our team that has been landing players only 2-stars and ranked below 2000!

We have targeted a few more 3-stars that have yet to commit so we're crossing our fingers in hopes that we get more!

In just a matter of one week we beat #16 Louisiana Tech, won the division to guarantee a spot int he C-USA Championship, gained our first 3-star recruit (ever), we managed to sign 7 more recruits and only lost out on 1!

I'm sure over the next three weeks (of no games) we will fall out of the Top 10 but hopefully a win over TCU will push us further up the polls!
