3/9: We play #9 seed North Carolina, 14-14, 8-10. We won by 18 there.

3/10: 89-59. 51-15 at the half. 18, 12 for Lyda, 10, 14 for Rolt, 16, 9 for Noel. +40 RBs.

#5 seed Georgia Tech in the semifinals. Their starting PG is banged up, but he’ll play. We won by 28 there.

3/11: 81-49. It was never close. 21, 5 for Daws, 16, 11 for Noel, 16, 7 for Nell. +19 RBs, +11 TOs.

#2 seed, #5 ranked Syracuse, 28-3, 16-2, for the title. Beat them by 26 at our place.

3/12: 74-64. Team effort, with 8 players scoring 6 or more.

33-0, 18-0. #1, RPI #1.

#1 overall. We play Jacksonville, 15-16. Tougher bracket than it should be.

3/16: 82-48. Never close. 30 for Daws, 18, 12 for Noel, 16, 9 for Nell.

#8 seed LSU, 19-10, in round 2. Beat them by 43 in the season opener.

3/18: 85-54. 57-23 at the half. 5 with 11 or more.

#4 seed, #15 ranked Oklahoma, 25-8, in the Sweet Sixteen. On paper it’s a mismatch.

3/23: 77-69. It was not as close as the final score indicates. That was as close as it got in the last 30 minutes. All 5 starters had 11 or more. 60 RBs, 12 TOs.

#2 seed, #5 ranked Syracuse, again, 31-4. We beat them by 26, but only by 10 in the ACC tournament.

3/25: 71-56. Another team effort. 7 had 7 or more. +12 RBs.

We will play #6 ranked Kansas, 31-5, in the national semifinal.

On the other side it’s #2 UCLA, 35-2, vs. #4 Michigan, 33-3.

3/30: In an absolute shock, my brother Josephus has died. He became ill on the 20th. By the 25th he knew he was dying. He gathered Dorothea, my brother Arthur and me around him, and told us we would need to administer the family fortune. When I told him I know nothing about these matters he said it’s Dorothea we need, but women can’t do a lot of the things that need to be done, so she and Arthur will make the decisions, and Arthur and I will implement them. This means I need to retire from coaching; it will be a full time job for all of us, and all of the members of the Grayson clan are depending upon us. The financial disaster Josephus has been predicting for years is now imminent, and Josephus spent most of his last coherent hours telling us how to deal with things in the long and short term. He has pulled us out of everything except for industries and businesses that the world governments simply cannot allow to fail. We are heavily invested in those, heavily invested in gold and in land.

Josephus feels we may lose as much as half our family’s assets, but we will survive if we follow his short and long term plans.

My life is about to change completely. I will coach one or two more games (2 if I win the first), and that’s that for coaching. Hoping to go out with a 154 game win streak and a fourpeat. Let’s see what happens.

4/1: 90-74. Their Sg had 36, but we stopped everyone else and it didn’t matter. 10, 20 for Lang, 21, 4 for Dawa, 16, 5 for Nell. 15, 7, 10 for Reid, but 10
TOs. +22 RBs, and an easy win. One more to go!

#2 ranked UCLA, 36-2, won their game. They have a terrific outside game, maybe the best in the country, so it will be our inside vs. their outside. We beat them by 10 in the Preseason NIT title game. We’re going to need to EARN this one!

4/3: 70-63 and the fourpeat! We jumped out to an early lead. They needed to play catch up all night, and they never quite did. 23, 12 for Nell, 10, 4, 12, 4 and only 2 TOs for Reid. +11 TOs. At age 56, I’m sure this was the last game I’ll ever coach.

4/4: Awards: Gord Nell was Final Four MOP. I was National COY. In the ACC, Mat Daws and Bob Lang made 2nd team. We were VERY much disrespected by our new conference.

This ends the dynasty. On to Historical Association #4! (Author's Note: Winning all the time get boring. Time for a fresh start!)
