3/7: #9 seed South Carolina, 10-18, 6-12, in the quarter final game.
3/8: 91-63. 23, 19 for Lang, 20, 7 for Nell, 13, 8, 9 for Aers, 19 for Jaes, 9, 11 for Noel. +30 RBs, 6 TOs.
#5 seed Arkansas, 22-9, 12-6, in the semifinals. Looks like a walkover.
3/9: 89-68. 20, 8 for Nell, 17, 12, 4, 3, 4 for Lang, 12, 10 for Noel, 13 for sub Ban Rolt, and 11 for sub Dan Robb. +12 RBs.
#7 ranked Missouri, 27-3, 16-2, for the title. We’ve crushed them twice this season.
3/10: 93-74. 21, 12 for Noel, 20, 9 for Nell, 11, 11 for Lang, 11, 8 for Rolt, 9, 6, 8 for Aers. +14 RBs. Bob Lang was SEC Tournament MOP.
33-0, 18-0, #1, RPI #1.
3/12: #1 Midwest, #2 overall. Disrespected! We play 16 seed Lipscomb, 18-12.
3/16: 103-68. 18, 16 for Noel, 23, 8 for Lang, 23 for Nell, 12 for Jaes, 12 assists for Aers. +26 RBs, 12 TOs.
#9 seed Maryland, 20-10, in round 2.
3/18: 81-42. 20, 10, 5 blocks for Noel, 12, 22, 5 blocks for Lang, 17, 12 for Nell, 8, 3, 11, 4 for Aers, 10, 5, 4 for Jaes. We may have the greatest front
court in college basketball history. +29 RBs, 9 TOs.
#4 seed, #14 ranked Michigan, 26-7, in the Sweet Sixteen. Good team, but we should beat them.
3/23: 82-63. 22, 14 for Lang, 19, 8 for Nell, 14, 6 for Rolt. +13 RBs, 7 TOs.
#1 overall Syracuse was shocked in OT by Gonzaga.
#2 seed, #4 ranked Michigan ST, 32-3, in the Elite Eight. This will be a challenge.
3/25: 92-79. They led by 10 early, but we got it down to 1 at the half, and then dominated the 2nd. 19, 11 for Noel, 17, 10 for Nell, 13, 6 for Lang, 12,
7 for Rolt, 11, 4, 7 for Jaes. +24 RBs, 12 TOs.
We play #5 ranked Texas, 31-3, in the national semifinal. Texas is strong inside, but that’s our strength as well, and we’re better outside.
On the other side it’s #3 Kansas, 35-1, vs. #6 Missouri, 31-4, so an all SEC title game is possible.
4/1: 87-49! 20, 8, 5 for Nell, 18, 14 for Noel, 10, 6, 6 for Aers, 11, 4, 4 for Jaes. +14 RBs, 8 TOs.
#3 Kansas, 36-1, beat Missouri. This is a very good team. They are probably better outside, while we are better inside, so where the game is played will likely determine the outcome. 114 wins in a row. One more needed for the threepeat.
4/3: 82-77 and the threepeat! 25, 11 for Nell, 20, 8, 3, 3, 3 for Jaes, 16, 7 for Noel, 13 RBs for Lang. +27 RBs, but a horrific 31 TOs kept it close. At the end we made our free throws, and stopped their O.
4/4: Awards: Frosh Gord Nell was Final Four MOP. I was national COY. In the SEC, Bob Lang was Frosh OY, and 1st team along with frosh Gord Nell. Our third frosh big man, Ron Noel, made 2nd team. Joe Jaes should have, but didn’t.
4/16: We extended all of our coaches.
4/23: Extending our assistants cost money so we ask for another budget increase. Got it!
39-0, threepeat, 115 game win streak. Overall, I’m 2-118, .838, for 21 seasons.
