5/1: National Gold, international basic.

Preseason #1.

PG Jeff Camm elected to transfer out. He was not part of our plans.

6/5: We have 2 slots open for transfers.

Nobody there.

6/26: 4 scholarships. We want three inside players.

8/7: 6 on the Norton list: Will Seer is #3, C Ed Junt #20, SG Jon Jaes #25, C Rik Penn #28, PG Al Beln #29, PG Elk Aers #40.

8/21: We offer to a PG, an SF, a PF, and a C.

9/18: We get 2, lose 2. We get a PG, #4, and a PF, #7.

We’re at HFT vs. Providence. A few more decent teams play us this season, but the schedule is not that impressive.

9/25: We get the other 2, Ac, #10, and an SF, #12. Very impressive recruiting class!

10/2: 1st day of practice and we certainly have a chance to successfully defend.

11/6: 9 man rotation:

Soph Dan Robb starts at PG, subs at SG, with senior Al Beln and junior Elk Aers right behind him.

Soph Jon Jaes is back at SG.

Soph Ad Lyda, who came on strong late in the season is at SF, with junior Rik Penn backing him.

Soph Ban Rolt is back at PF, subbing at C. Junior Ed Hunt backs up at PF.

Senior, and 3 time 1st team All American Will Seer is back at C.

We’re favored to repeat!

11/20: 2-0 to start.

All 4 recruits sign.

12/4: 5-0, #3. All 5 wins were easy. All 3 front court player are averaging a double double.

12/22: 8-0 headed to the HFT, where we’re the #1 seed in a good field. Providence, 4-4 is first.

12/23: 68-52. 24, 9 for Lyda, 16, 9 for Seer. +18 RBs, +10 TOs.

#5 seed California, 5-4, in the semifinal.

12/24: 78-61. 21, 13 for Seer, 20, 11 for Lyda. +25 RBs, 10 TOs.

#2 seed, #8 ranked Michigan, 10-0, for the title.

12/25: 82-54. Best team we’ve faced all season and we crushed them. 35, 15 for Seer, 19, 13 for Rolt. +32 RBs.

#3, RPI #2. +26.8 PPG, +23.3 RBs, +5.6 TOs.

There’s radio network. National Broadcasting System. All 24 stations will broadcast the same exact content at the same exact time, most of the time. Local stations will do their own news and weather. Amazing!

1/1/1927: 2-0 start to SEC play. The front court continues to completely dominate other teams.

1/5: 14-0, 3-0.

#3 guard Al Beln sprained a finger. He’s out 2 weeks. Elk Aers will now start with Dan Robb getting the sub minutes as #3 guard.

1/15: 17-0, 6-0, #2, RPI #2. 2 game lead in the SEC. Seer averages 22.2, 11.9, 3.8.

1/22: 19-0, 8-0. Still 2 up in the SEC,

Al Beln is back, and he’s starting.

1/29: 21-0, 10-0, #2, RPI #2, +25.6 PPG, +22.8 RBs, +6.4 TOs. Seer is getting 22.9, 12.1, 3.7 blocks, 1.5 steals- leads us in all of those categories. #5 on the Norton list. 15.7, 10.3 for Lyda, 3.5, 9.6 for Rolt, 12.1 for Jaes.

2/12: 25-0, 14-0, #1, RPI #2. It’s great to be ranked #1! 5 game lead in the SEC, and we’re just rolling over teams, even good teams and ranked teams. Texas A & M just held us to a 7 point win there, but every other game has b2een 16 or more. The win streak is at 73.

2/26: We end the regular season at 29-0, 18-0, +25.9 PPG, +24.7 RBs, +5.7 TOs. #1, RPI #2. 5 game lead in the SEC, over 1 team, FL. Seer has dropped to #6 on the Norton list but we’re campaigning!

3/5: Seer fell to #7 on the Norton list and I am being very public and very vocal in my disgust about it. He should be in the top 5!

3/7: We play #9 seed South Carolina, 15-14, 8-10, first.

3/8: 39, 16 for Seer. +16 RBs, 9 TOs.

#4 seed Missouri, 15-13, 11-7, in the semifinals.

3/9: 78-67. 36, 12 for Seer, 12, 14 for Rolt, 15 each for Jaes and Lyda. Not as close as the final score.

#2 seed Florida, 18-11, 13-5 for the title. We beat them by 29 and then 40.

3/10: 75-58. 18, 21 for tourney MOP Will Seer, 17, 11 for Rolt, 17, 8 for Lyda.

32-0, 18-0, #1, RPI #2, so we will probably be #2 overall, behind Syracuse.

3/12: #1 Midwest, #2 overall, as expected. We play 20-10, Delaware ST. We are happy with this bracket.

Civil War in China. The U. S. sends 1000 troops in to rescue U. S. citizens and protect U. S. property, but we stay out of the fighting.

3/16: 89-52. Typical 1st round game for a #1 seed. Triple double for Seer, 22, 12, with 10 blocks. 25, 6, 3 for Jaes, 19, 17 for Rolt, 10, 17 for Lyda. +30 RBs (55), 8 TOs.

#9 seed Oregon, 19-11, in round 2.

3/18: 86-67. 22, 7 for Lyda, 16, 9 for Seer, 15 for Jaes, 10, 12 for Rolt. +11 RBs, +11 TOs.

#4 seed, #12 ranked UCLA, 25-9, in the Sweet Sixteen.

3/23: 69-62. It really wasn’t that close. 19 for Jaes, but no one else had more than 9, but we led by as many as 19.

#3 seed, #10 ranked Marquette, 30-4, in the Elite Eight.

3/25: 78-58. We never trailed. 18, 15 for Rolt, 13, 10 for Seer, 4 others had 9 or more. +20 RBs.

It’s #1 overall seed Syracuse, 36-1, in the national semifinal game. We’re a 1.5 point favorite. They’re obviously very good.

#5 seed, #17 ranked Texas, 25-9, vs. #2 seed, #6 ranked Georgia Tech in the other game, 30-6.

4/1: 75-64. We trailed by as many as 11 early, 7 at the half. Foul trouble made me have to sit Seer and Jaes for long stretches in the first half. I chose to be down a few points but to not gamble on either of them picking up foul #3. Neither did, and we controlled the 2nd half. 18 with 8 blocks for Seer, 12, 10 for Rolt, 8, 13 for Lyda, 7, 4, 13 for Beln, 11 for Jaes.

# 5 seed, #17 ranked Texas, 26-9, won by a single point, so we play them in the title game. They have a terrific Center, as do we. We think we have a big talent edge overall.

4/3: Never expected this, 82-43 win! We led by 19 at the half, as many as 44. We trailed a few times in the first 3-4 minutes and never after that. 14, 11 for Rolt, 18, 8 for Lyda, 13, 5 for Jaes, 10, 8, 4 for Junt. They doubled Seer all night and held him to 8 and 6 with 4 blocks. We will miss Will Seer. He was a tremendous force for us right from his first game of his freshman year.

Back to back titles! 76 wins in a row!

4/4: Will Seer was Final Four MOP, which surprises me. I am very happy for him. AND… he made the 1st team again! A 4 year 1st team All American. There aren’t ever many of those! I am National COY. IN Conference, Will is POY, Def. POY, 1st team, along with sophs Ban Rolt and Ad Lyda, who should be our leaders next season.

4/9: Georgia Tech wants us but TP is at 99, we have a very good budget, and facilities. We’re staying, and going for 3!

4/23: I ask for money because, why not? A huge increase!

38-0, 2nd straight national title. Overall, after 20 seasons, 573-118, .829.

Terrible flood in Mississippi.

5/1: We buy both the National and the International Gold.

Preseason #1.

Guard Jem Wren transfers out. He would not have played much.

5/21: Charles Lindbergh has crossed the Atlantic in a solo flight. Amazing! He was greeted in Paris as a hero, and is already becoming known as “Lucky Lindy!” People are going crazy about this.

The decade is now known as the “Roaring Twenties” and believe me, things are roaring. The Prohibition fueled binge goes on non-stop, and Speakeasies are making fortunes swerving rotgut liquor, which sometimes blinds people, and occasionally kills them. There are higher priced private clubs, also called Speakeasies, that serve imported liquor, but that’s for the rich folks.

People make home brew and bathtub gin and sell those as well. Again, blindness and death can and do happen.

As to the economy, it has been on a non-stop high, with people amassing paper fortunes of almost unimaginable proportions. Josephus thinks the bottom will drop out with 1-3 years. He has begun to move our family’s money around in anticipation of this. He says that if we are very lucky we will eventually lose only 30-40% of our assets when it all falls apart. Those who wait too long will lose all of it. The issue is buying stocks on margin- people purchase a stock by putting up only as little as 10% of the real value. At some point the options will be called in, many, probably most, will be unable to meet the margin (pay off the balance) and everything will come crashing down.

Josephus is investing in things that cannot be allowed to fail- rails, utilities, even airlines. He is also moving lots of money into land purchases, and foreign investments, as well as gold, which is always the safest thing available.

6/5: No one of interest in the Transfer Pool.

6/26: 4 scholarships. We’d like 2 and 2.

8/7: 8 on the Norton list: PF Ron Noel is #4, SF Gord Nell is #7, C Bob Lang is #11, C Ed Junt #14, C Rik Penn #18, SG Jon Jaes #23, PG Elk Aers #26, SF John Hall #45. I don’t understand how Rolt and Lyda, who may well start ahead of ALL of these guys, were not named.

8/21: We offer to a PG, an SG, an SF, and a C.

9/18: A very successful year in recruiting, best ever. Got a PG, the #1 overall recruit, a C, #4. An SF, #5, an SG, #6. Amazing class!

Preseason NIT vs. Western KY. The schedule is more challenging this season.

10//2: 1st day of practice. Finding playing time for people will be difficult. We are LOADED!

The New York Yankees won the World Series, after having maybe the greatest season in baseball history, led by Babe Ruth’s record breaking 60 home runs.

The Yankees are the biggest thing in sports. Boxing comes next. The great Jack Dempsey lost his title to Gene Tunney this year in the famous and very controversial “long count fight.” I was there, and Dempsey was robbed.

Mickey Walker has been the Middleweight champ for a few years and I love to see his fights.

Horse racing is also a very popular sport. Then comes either college football or college basketball. I know the UMass Minutemen are known far and wide, in places a LONG way from Amherst, MA. And I am recognized in most places where I go. It’s a strange feeling, and I could do without it, but there it is.

They’re trying to carve out the sculpture of 4 Presidents out in the Dakotas somewhere: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt.

The first full length talking moving picture has just been released, “The Jazz Singer,” starring Al Jolson.

Anarchists Sacco and Venzetti were executed, very likely for a crime they did not commit.

11/6: 8 man rotation:

Junior Dan Robb starts at PG, subs at SG. Junior Jon Jaes is at SG. Senior Elk Aers subs at PG.

Very highly regarded frosh Gord Nell is at SF, backed by junior 2 year starter Ban Rolt, who also subs at PF, and who well may end up starting.

Another very highly regarded frosh, Ron Noel, is at PF, subbing at C. Senior Ed Junt also subs there.

A third very highly regarded frosh, Bob Lang, is at C.

We have 4 others who should be getting playing time, but we have no time to give.

We’re rated #1 in the country after back to back undefeated seasons, and with a 76 game win streak, the longest ever.

#8 seed LSU in round 2.

11/16: 83-66. 27, 21 for Lang, 13, 3, 11 for PG Dan Robb, 12, 13, 3, 4 for Gord Nell. 63 RBs(!).

#12 seed, #19 ranked Oklahoma in the semifinals.

11/18: 70-46. Never close. 22, 20 for Noel, 16, 11 for Lang. +16 RBs, +10 TOs.

#2 seed, #4 ranked Duke for the title. They have a very good backcourt. We’ll need to keep it in control. We have a solid edge inside.

11/20: 97-64. It was neve close. 20, 11 for Lang, 21, 8 for Nell, 19, 8 for Noel, 14, 10 for Jaes, 11 assists for Robb. +29 RBs, 9 TOs.

All 4 recruits sign.

12/4: 8-0, #1, RPI #1. We are rolling over everyone.

12/25: 12-0, #1, RPI #1. +27.6 PPG, +27.8 RBs, +5.1 TOs. Bob Lang leads us with 17.8, 11.3, 2.2 blocks, 1.3 steals. Gord Nell gets 14.8, 10.4, Ron Noel gets
13.2, 9.8, Jon Jaes gets 12.2.

Aers is getting the starting PG spot from Robb.

1/1/1928: 2 blowouts to start conf. play.

1/15: 18-0, 6-0, #1, RPI #2. Just rolling along. 94 wins in a row.

Seldom used sub guard Joe Dane strained a knee and missed a week.

1/29: 22-0, 10-0, #1, RPI #2, +28.3 PPG, +25.7 RBs, +4.9 TOs. 1 up on #8 Missouri and #25 Florida. 3 or more on the rest. Lang gets 17.5, 10.3, 2.5 blocks,
1.6 steals. 17.5, 9.2 for Nell, 12.5, 9.9 for Noel, 12.0 for Jaes.

Bob Lang is #11, Gord Nell #12, and Ron Noel #24 on the Norton list.

2/12: 26-0, 14-0, #1, RPI #2. Syracuse, with 1 loss, is ahead of us in RPI. We’re 1 up on #8 Missouri, 2 on #25 Florida, 5 or more on the rest.

We play Florida here next, then Missouri there.

There was a HUGE to do for our 100th win, which we got here, on 1/27. We’re at 104 now.

Bob Lang is #10, Gord Nell #12 on the Norton list.

2/19: Quite a week. We beat #25 FL here by 21, simply dominating them all the way, and then we went to #8 Missouri and beat them by 28 on their home court. I’ll take it!

2/26: We end the regular season at 30-0, 18-0, #1, RPI #1. We win the SEC by 2 over Missouri, 4 over FL, 6 or more over the rest. +28.1 PPG, +25.8 RBs, +4.4 TOs. #1 in PPG, RBs, Blocks, TOs (fewest), Steals Allowed. #2 in RBs Allowed. #3 in PPG Allowed. #4 in Assists.

Bob Lang leads us with 17.9, 10.5, 2.6 Blocks, 1.6 Steals. 18.2, 9.0 ofr Gord Nell. 13.5, 10.5 for Ron Noel. 12.1 for Jon Jaes. Aers, Robb, Rolt, and Hunt are also putting up great numbers.

Heading for the post season and the threepeat!

3/7: #9 seed South Carolina, 10-18, 6-12, in the quarter final game.

3/8: 91-63. 23, 19 for Lang, 20, 7 for Nell, 13, 8, 9 for Aers, 19 for Jaes, 9, 11 for Noel. +30 RBs, 6 TOs.

#5 seed Arkansas, 22-9, 12-6, in the semifinals. Looks like a walkover.

3/9: 89-68. 20, 8 for Nell, 17, 12, 4, 3, 4 for Lang, 12, 10 for Noel, 13 for sub Ban Rolt, and 11 for sub Dan Robb. +12 RBs.

#7 ranked Missouri, 27-3, 16-2, for the title. We’ve crushed them twice this season.

3/10: 93-74. 21, 12 for Noel, 20, 9 for Nell, 11, 11 for Lang, 11, 8 for Rolt, 9, 6, 8 for Aers. +14 RBs. Bob Lang was SEC Tournament MOP.

33-0, 18-0, #1, RPI #1.

3/12: #1 Midwest, #2 overall. Disrespected! We play 16 seed Lipscomb, 18-12.

3/16: 103-68. 18, 16 for Noel, 23, 8 for Lang, 23 for Nell, 12 for Jaes, 12 assists for Aers. +26 RBs, 12 TOs.

#9 seed Maryland, 20-10, in round 2.

3/18: 81-42. 20, 10, 5 blocks for Noel, 12, 22, 5 blocks for Lang, 17, 12 for Nell, 8, 3, 11, 4 for Aers, 10, 5, 4 for Jaes. We may have the greatest front
court in college basketball history. +29 RBs, 9 TOs.

#4 seed, #14 ranked Michigan, 26-7, in the Sweet Sixteen. Good team, but we should beat them.

3/23: 82-63. 22, 14 for Lang, 19, 8 for Nell, 14, 6 for Rolt. +13 RBs, 7 TOs.

#1 overall Syracuse was shocked in OT by Gonzaga.

#2 seed, #4 ranked Michigan ST, 32-3, in the Elite Eight. This will be a challenge.

3/25: 92-79. They led by 10 early, but we got it down to 1 at the half, and then dominated the 2nd. 19, 11 for Noel, 17, 10 for Nell, 13, 6 for Lang, 12,

7 for Rolt, 11, 4, 7 for Jaes. +24 RBs, 12 TOs.

We play #5 ranked Texas, 31-3, in the national semifinal. Texas is strong inside, but that’s our strength as well, and we’re better outside.

On the other side it’s #3 Kansas, 35-1, vs. #6 Missouri, 31-4, so an all SEC title game is possible.

4/1: 87-49! 20, 8, 5 for Nell, 18, 14 for Noel, 10, 6, 6 for Aers, 11, 4, 4 for Jaes. +14 RBs, 8 TOs.

#3 Kansas, 36-1, beat Missouri. This is a very good team. They are probably better outside, while we are better inside, so where the game is played will likely determine the outcome. 114 wins in a row. One more needed for the threepeat.

4/3: 82-77 and the threepeat! 25, 11 for Nell, 20, 8, 3, 3, 3 for Jaes, 16, 7 for Noel, 13 RBs for Lang. +27 RBs, but a horrific 31 TOs kept it close. At the end we made our free throws, and stopped their O.

4/4: Awards: Frosh Gord Nell was Final Four MOP. I was national COY. In the SEC, Bob Lang was Frosh OY, and 1st team along with frosh Gord Nell. Our third frosh big man, Ron Noel, made 2nd team. Joe Jaes should have, but didn’t.

4/16: We extended all of our coaches.

4/23: Extending our assistants cost money so we ask for another budget increase. Got it!

39-0, threepeat, 115 game win streak. Overall, I’m 2-118, .838, for 21 seasons.

11/13: We begin the season at the NIT vs. LSU. We’re the #1 seed.

11/14: 95-52. 9 players scored between 8 and 15. 15, 10, 7 for PG Cam Reid. 71 RBs, I believe the most I’ve ever seen. 6 TOs.

#9 seed, #9 ranked Arizona, in round 2.

11/16: 77-52. 18, 4, 6 for Reid, who is our leader so far.

#4 seed, #7 ranked Michigan in the semifinal game.

11/18: 86-44. 27, 9 for Nell, 13, 12 for Lyda, 10, 13 for Lang, 6, 15 for Rolt. 76 RBs, another new all time high.

#3 seed, #3 ranked UCLA for the title.

11/20: 81-71. 21, 8 for Nell, 22, 4 for Reid, 12 RBs each for Noel and Lang. +14 RBs, 9 TOs.

Ranked #2.

All 4 recruits signed.

12/4: 8-0, #1, RPI #1. Win streak is at 123.

12/25: 12-0, #1, RPI #1. +28.2 PPG, +21.9 RBs, +4.5 TOs. Win streak is at 127.

1/1/1929: 2-0 to start ACC play. 2 easy road wins against good teams.

1/15: 18-0, 6-0, #1, RPI #1. It’s a team effort. Mat Daws, who now starts, leads us with 18.0, Bob Lang gets 13.8, 8.9, Gord Nell, 13.0, 7.1, Cam Reid 12.5, 7.1, Ron Noel 8.9, 8.7. We get great bench play.

#4 ranked Syracuse is also undefeated, and we’re tied with them for 1st. We play them here in a couple weeks.

1/29: 22-0, 10-0, #1, RPI #1. Still tied with Syracuse for 1st, 3 or more up on the rest. +32.5 PPG, +25.6 RBs, +5.7 TOs. #1 in PPG, RB, Assists, Blocks, TOs, PPG Allowed, Steals Allowed.

Bob Lang is #23, Gord Nell #28 on the Norton list. We have too much talent for any one player to rank near the top.

2/12: 26-0, 14-0. 2 game lead.

2/14: The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre occurs in Chicago when Al Capone and his henchmen murder seven rival gangsters. No convictions.

2/26: 30-0, 18-0, #1, RPI #1. We finish the regular season 2 up on #5 Syracuse, 3 up on #13 Duke, 8 or more on the rest. +31.0 PPG, +24.3 RBs, +6.5 TOs.

1st in the country in 7 categories.
