3/6: We play #7 seed Utah ST, 14-14, 9-9, in round one. This tournament is up for grabs.

3/7: 66-65. Whew! Sub guard Al Ivry had 18, include the game winner. We shot poorly, especially in the 2nd half, and e nearly blew a 15 point lead.

#3 seed Fresno ST, 18-10, 12-6, in the semis. We won by 15 at our place.

3/8: 60-67. We shot poorly, 32.8%, 18.5% on threes. 15 TOs didn’t help.

24-7, 13-5, #16, RPI #21. Probably a #5 or a #6.

3/12: #5 Midwest. We play #12 Florida, 19-3.

3/16: 73-75. They hit a half court luck shot at the buzzer to end our season.

4/3: #1 Duke is the champ.

4/4: Awards: Center Ian Alls is Conf. Frosh OY and 1st team. I am Conf. COY.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade. No.

24-8, 13-5. Overall, 221-72, .754. 2 seasons to go in this test run.

biggest lead. 18 for PF Mal Sant, 14, 8, 6, 4 for Cary. 8 TOs.

12/25: 9-2; lost at Virginia in OT, on a bad call. #22, RPI #5. +9.6 PPG, -0.8 RBs, +8.0 TOs, +3.6 assists, +4.4 steals. Center Pat Ward leads us with

3/6: We play #8 seed Air Force, 14-14, 7-11, first.

3/7: 89-62. 21, 5 for PG Matt Gram, 16 each for Cary and Ward. 7 TOs.

#4 seed Fresno ST, 19-10, 10-8, in the semis. They won by 14 there, we won by only 6 here.

3/8: 56-61. We shot 29%, and they went to the line 14 times more than we did. Just a terrible game for us. 20 for Ivry, and very little from the rest.

25-6, 15-3, #11, RPI #7.

3/12: #4 seed, Midwest. We play #13 Albany, 24-6.

3/16: 80-77. We led most of the way, by as many as 12. They scored the last 7 points. 25, 10 for Mike Cary, 17 for Ward.

#12 seed UTEP, 23-9, in round two.

3/18: 73-61. 21, 8 for Mal Sant, 19, 8 for Al Ivry.

We’re in the Sweet Sixteen for only the 2nd time ever, vs. #1 seed, #1 ranked UCLA, 34-0. It would take a fantastic game and them having an off night, but we’ll give it our best.

3/23: 92-72. Greatest win of my career, and in program history. We led by 15 early, 10 at the half, and then built it to 25 in the 2nd. We did everything right, shooting 48.5%, 17-35 on threes. 21, 12 for Ward, 21 for Sant, 17 for Ivry. 38 RBs, 7 TOs.

We go to our first ever Elite Eight vs. #2 seed, #4 ranked Memphis, 31-2. They are very, very good, especially at C.

3/25: 45-76. As good as we were against UCLA, we were that bad tonight. We shot 24.2%, 11.4% on threes. Their C got 38 and 12, and all but beat us on his own. Oh well, great season!

4/3: #3 Michigan wins it all.

4/4: Awards: Pat Ward I Conf. Frosh OY, and 1st team. Mike Cary and Mal Sant make 2nd team. I get Conf. COY.

4/23: I ask for $. No.

28-7, 15-3, Elite Eight. Overall, 249-79, .759.

5/1: Since this is the 11th season, the tenth within the experiment, I will not recruit or go after transfers.

8/12:Rayguns admits to errors with Iran-Contra, but escapes.

9/18: Caribbean Challenge vs. Wash. ST.

10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re picked to win the conf. again.

10/19: The idiotic trickle down policy leads to a stock market crash.

11/6: 7 man rotation:

Senior Mike Cary is at the Point. Junior Ray Tayo, a transfer from Kansas, starts at SG, subs at PG. Frosh Tod Witt subs at SG.

Junior Jam Jora is at SF. Senior Will Holz subs at SF and PF.

Soph Pat Ward starts at PF, subs at C, but Holz is breathing down his neck.

Frosh Jay Pext is at C.

12/4: 6-0, #20, RPI #22. 3 more games, then off to the Caribbean Challenge, where we’re the #1 seed.

12/15: 9-0, #17, RPI #22. Heading for the Caribbean Challenge vs. #8 seed Wash. ST., 2-5.

12/16: 92-68. 19 each for SG Ray Tayo, our leading scorer, and 6th man Will Holz. 16, 4, 5 for SF Jam Jora. 5 TOs.

#4 seed Pepperdine, 6-3, in the semis.

12/17: 71-54. 20, 7 for PF Pat Ward. 18, 5 for Tayo.

#6 seed Santa Clara, 7-3, for the title.

12/18: 79-61. 23, 10 for Jora, 16, 7 for Tayo. 46 RBs, 9 TOs. Not much competition in this tourney.

12/25: 13-0, #6, RPI #10. +16.9 PPG, +1.6 RBs, +12.6 TOs, +5.5 assists, +7.4 steals. Tayo leads us with 15.1 PPG, Pext with 7.2 RBs, Cary with 4.3 assists. The 7 who play regularly all contribute on O, and all are good defenders.

2/3: The House of Reps says no to neo-fascist Rayguns regarding aid to the Contras. Sadly, they do not go after the criminal scum.

2/26: 27-2, 14-2 at the end of the regular season. #6, RPI #5. We win the conf. by 4 games. +13.5 PPG, +1.8 RBs, +10.1 TOs, +4.5 assists, +6.2 steals.

3/6: #9 seed San Jose ST, 13-15, 6-10, in the 1st round.

3/7: 86-53. Never a game. 19, 4 for Jora. 5 TOs.

#4 seed UNLV, 19-10, 9-7, in the semis. We beat them twice.

3/8: 72-56. 20, 3, 4, 4, 2 for Tayo, 18 for Jora. 7 TOs.

#3 seed Utah ST, 22-7, 10-6, for the title. We beat them by 13.

3/9: 65-54. 21, 10 for Cary, 18 RBs for Pext. 42 RBs, 6 TOs.

30-2, 14-2, #6, RPI #5. We expect a #2 seed.

3/12: #2 South. We play #15 Manhattan, 21-11. This is a good bracket for us!

3/17: 82-77. Way closer than it should have been. 24, 7 for Cary, 13, 12, 6 for Pext. Only 3 TOs, but we did NOT play well, esp. on D, and on the boards. We need to be better if we hope to go anywhere.

#7 seed, #22 ranked Georgia ST, 24-7, in the 2nd round.

3/19: 86-71. Still not happy with the D. 26 for Tayo, 18, 7, 5 for Cary, 10, 10, 4, 4 fopr Pext. 5 TOs.

#3 seed, #12 ranked Iowa ST, 26-6, in the Sweet Sixteen. We need to play better to beat this team.

3/24: 90-73. Never close. 22, 12 for Tayo, 22, 5 for Cary, 16, 6 for Jora, 8, 9, 10 for Pext. 7 TOs.

For the 2nd time ever, and for the 2nd time in a row, we’re in the Elite Eight. We play #5 seed, #15 ranked UTEP, 29-7. This is a team we can beat. We have a legitimate shot at the Final Four.

3/26: 75-78. We played catch up throughout the 2nd half. We had an open three at the buzzer to tie it, but it missed. We simply didn’t play good D at any time during the tournament. Disappointing end to a great season.

4/3: #2 Kentucky wins the title.

4/4: Awards: Ray Tayo is POY and 1st team. Jay Pext is Frosh OY, and 2nd team with Mike Cary. I am Conf. COY.
