11/20: 2-0 start. Home games against crappy teams, and one was in OT, but I’ll take it. Des Pett was our go to in both games. We’re playing 6 guards. The only one who is standing out right now is PG Deek Brad.

All 4 recruits sign. Still looking for an inside player.

Another home game then at #7 OK ST. That should be a tough one.

11/27: 3-1. We only lost to #7 OK ST by 10. I’m happy with that at this point in the season.

12/4: Lost to a crappy team there. We played well but shot horribly, 28.8%.

12/8: 4-2 going to the Sunshine Shootout. We’re the #4 seed. Indiana ST is #5.

12/9: 75-71. We were down 11 early in the 2nd. 20 for Scot Robi, who now starts at SG. 3 others with 10 or more. Only 10 TOs. +10 RBs.

#1 seed California, 5-2, in the semis. Could be a tough one.

12/10: 67-70. Their outside shooting, especially threes (14), did us in but we played well. 16, 17 for PF Marc Dark, 11, 11 for C Des Pett, 15 for SF Tim Hail.

12/25: 6-4 heading for conf. play. RPI #47. +1.8 PPG, +3.7 RBs, +1.9 TOs.

Dark- 11.7, 9.4, and Pett- 11.6, 8.1, lead the way.

1/1/2002: 7-5, 1-1, RPI #44. I don’t think we’ll do as well as we did last year in conf. We’ll see.

1/15: 11-5, 5-1. RPI #39. To be fair, we haven’t played the tough conf. teams yet. Still, I’m pleased!

1/29: 14-6, 8-2. RPI #32. Tied for 1st with Gonzaga. +3.9 PPG, +3.0 RBs, +1.7 TOs.

2/12: 18-8, 12-4, RPI #. Alone in 1st. 2 teams one back.

2/26: We end up 19-10, 13-5, in a three way tie for 1st, the #3 seed, RPI #29. +3.6 PPG, +3.5 RBs, +0.9 TOs. We faded late in the season, losing 3 of our last 4, 4 of our last 6. That happened last year and we were 0-2 in the post season. Hoping to do better this year.

3/6: We play #6 seed Pacific, 14-14, 8-10, in the quarters. We beat them twice, but both were close.

3/7: 66-65. Des Pett had 12 and 12, and he had the winner, a back door layup. 21 lead changes, 12 ties. Great win!

#2 seed Gonzaga, 19-10, 13-5, in the semis. They beat us twice, once in OT.

3/8: 54-57. We played good D, but we couldn’t generate any offense. The final score was as close as we got in the 2nd half.

20-11, 13-5, RPI #26.

3/12: #12 play in vs. St. Bonnies, 21-10. #26 RPI and we’re a #12 seed? Ridiculous!

3/14: 57-74. Another post season fade this season. 18 for Dark.

4/3: #5 Kansas wins it all.

4/4: Awards: Des Pett makes WCC 1st team. Marc Dark makes 2nd team.

4/9: Going to UNLV in the Mountain West.

4/23: I ask for $. I get $5000.

20-12. Overall, 60-33, .645.

8/26: The “weapons of mass destruction” bullshit begins.

9/18: We get an SG, #36, and a PG, #37.

Coaches Classic vs. #8 Indiana. It’s too soon for this tough a match up. I need time to build this team.

11/13: We drew #2 seed, #8 ranked Indiana in the first round of the Coaches Classic and we damn near beat them, losing 64-67. Our starters were not all that impressive on O, but our bench got 39 points, led by Eron Kart and Ato Anda with 15 each. Wes Loer had 7.

11/20: All 4 recruits signed.

12/4: 4-1, RPI #13, which is a little too high. We’re playing well against decent teams.

12/25: 7-2, RPI #11. +9.7 PPG, +9.4 RBs, -1.7 TOs. Center Ben Robb gets 15.1, 9.7.

3/6: We play #6 seed New Mexico, 16-12, 9-9, in the quarters. They won by 20 there.

3/7: 68-66. We didn’t win, we escaped! SF Ted Davy hit a 1`6 footer with a hand in his face at the buzzer. +9 RBs but 20 TOs (-7). 25, 14 for Ben Robb.

#2 seed Wyoming, 21-9, 13-5, in the semis. They beat us by 10 and 7.

3/8: 65-61. Another close one. We had a great 2nd half. 19, 7 for Robb, 13, 5 for PF Art Cuye.

We play #1 seed San Diego ST, 22-8, 14-4, for the title. We split during the regular season.

3/9: 63-68. We faded late and had 3 TOs in the last 90 seconds.14, 5 for Cuye. 8, 11 for Robb.

3/17: 56-69. Tough night. Our D was awful (51.2%).

Good first season at UNLV!

3/19: The U. S. illegal invasion of Iraq begins. The complete destruction of the country and the destabilization of the entire region will be the
eventual outcome.

11/20: 1-1 start. A 1 point loss in San Diego; in that game 27 fouls were called on us, 11 on them.

All 3 recruits sign.

12/4: 4-2. We’ve beaten 3 ranked teams and lost close games to 2 nothing teams on the road. You don’t want to be in my locker room these days.

12/11: Will Rich, who started both last season and the season before, has been getting zero minutes, due to the solid new recruits I brought in.
As a result he has been nothing but trouble. After giving him a two week suspension nothing changed. I just kicked him off the team.

12/13: Saddam Hussein is captured.

12/25: We go to conf. play 7-2, RPI #50. +14.7 PPG, +4.5 RBs, +4.2 TOs (huge improvement over last season). We’re #1 in PPG allowed, and #1 in assists allowed. Robb leads us with 15.4 and 10.4.

1/1/2004: #13 New Mexico, picked to win the conf., beat us by 17 there. We play them at our place later in the season.

1/15: 11-3, 4-1, RPI #18. We beat some good teams in the past 2 weeks.

1/29: 16-4, 9-2, #24, RPI #23. 1 up on Fresno ST and New Mexico. +10.1 PPG, +5.8 RBs, +0.8 TOs. New Mexico is here next.

1/31: 87-71 over #14 New Mexico. 21, 11 for Robb, 23 for SG Diga Sill, 12, 6 for Art Cuye at PF. +8 TOs. We really had it going tonight! 2nd place Fresno ST, there, next.

2/3: 66-61! We built a 21 point lead. They never got it any closer than the final score. 18 for Sill, 11, 13 for Mack. 10 TOs. 2 game lead with 5 to play.

CIA admits that “Weapons of mass destruction” was a crock of ****.

2/12: 19-4, 12-2, #16, RPI #14. 2 up in conf.

2/26: 21-6, 14-4. We did not finish strong, and I am kicking butts in practice. #16, RPI #21. We won the conf. by only 1 over Fresno ST, 3 or more
over the rest. +8.6 PPG, +6.2 RBs, +0.6 TOs.
