11/20: 2-0 start. We beat #19 UCLA here. PG Rufe Bott got a triple double vs. UCLA, 18, 10, 10.

Both recruits sign. Hoping to grab one more.

12/4: 5-0, RPI #62. We’re playing well. One more home game then off to the Golden ST Classic.

12/8: 6-0. #4 seed in the GS Classic, which has a strong field. UMass, 4-2, is #5.

12/9: 74-72. Close all the way. Our C, Akin Ture, blocked an 8 footer at the buzzer to give us the win. The UMass coach went crazy, saying it was a foul, but the replay showed it was a clean block. Ture had 19, 10, 21, 9, 7 for Rand, 10, 10 for PF Vic Gate. Gate is a whiner, which drives me nuts, but he’s playing well. +11 RBs, 10 TOs.

#1 seed, #11 ranked Syracuse, 6-1, in the semis. This will be tough. Their Sg is a scoring machine (28.8).

12/10: 78-95. Their SG had 38. Couldn’t stop him, and really couldn’t stop them. 21 for SF Ron Dory.

We’re ranked #22, after the loss.

12/25: 9-1, #20, RPI #18. +11.0 PPG, +10.6 RBs, +0.8 TOs. Akin Ture leads us with 16.9, 8.9. Dory gets 16.5, Rand 15.4 and very good ball handling.

1/1/2014: 1-2 start to conf. play, against three very good teams. Tough conf., as always.

ACA goes into effect.

1/15: 13-4, 4-3, #21, RPI #25. NOT happy. We lost to an unranked 9-6 team at home; 21 TOs.

1/29: 15-6, 6-5, #21, RPI #21. We beat #2 Ga Tech here. Can’t figure this team out. +5.3 PPG, +9.0 RBs, -0.9 TOs.

2/12: 18-7, 9-6, #22, RPI #18. Alone in 6th.

2/26: 19-9, 10-8, Out of the top 25, RPI #22. We finish 6th. +4.5 PPG, +7.3 RBs, -0.5 TOs.

3/8: Next to last place Virginia, 10-18, 4-14, just beat us in the regular season finale. They won the play in, in an upset, so we get to play them again.

3/9: 96-76. Only up by 4 at the half. I raised the roof and we were MUCH better in the 2nd. 22 for SF Ron Dory. Scoring was not a problem.

#3 seed, #9 ranked Syracuse, 24-5, 14-4, in the 1/4 finals. This won’t be easy.

3/10: 59-76. We tried. They were the better team. I stayed calm. It’s no disgrace to be beaten by a better team when you keep trying, which they did. When they don’t hustle they catch hell, but that wasn’t the case tonight.

20-10, 10-8, RPI #22.

3/12: #7 South. We play #10 Iowa ST., 17-12. Looks like a close game.

3/17: 72-61. 18, 9 for Ture, but we won this one by holding them to 17 1st half points.

#2 seed, #6 ranked Arizona, 29-4, in the 2nd round. Very tough team.

3/19: 62-59. Great win! We played terrific D, holding them to 31.3%, 9-35 on threes. 21, 7 for Ture, 47 RBs, 12 TOs.

Sweet Sixteen vs. #3 seed, #10 ranked Kentucky, 26-6. Another really tough team.

3/24: 70-88. 16, 13 for Ture, 18 for dory. They were the better team.

4/3: #9 Michigan St wins it all.

4/4: Awards: Senior Akin Ture made the ACC 2nd team.

4/9: I’m still one move away from an elite team. Will it come now? … No.

4/23: We need a budget increase. $4,500.

22-11, 10-8, Sweet Sixteen. Overall, 64-35, .646.

10/2: Got a PG, #43. Lost a C.

We’re picked 5th in the ACC.

1/29: 15-5, 7-3, #22, RPI #5. Alone in 5th, ½ game back of 1st, 1 ½ up on 6th. +7.5 PPG, +6.5 RBs, +1.9 TOs. Riva gets 16.5, 10.7. Rand gets 16.4. Bott gets 14.6. 12.2, 6.8 for Clay.
