The 2 differing ratings and player progression ?

Can someone enlighten me, why there is an OVRL rating as well as a positional rating under "Player Skills" (right side of the main player profile) ? Also, during the training camp stage you get a message of players rising/falling X amount of rating. Is that the former or the latter ? Or is it total rating points across all individual ratings ?

Overall is the players actual skill.

Positional ratings are skills (experience) at a position. This is especially nice in online leagues where an owner might move a SS to DE and he would succeed with his speed. This experience will make it so a player can't just jump around and know HOW to play a position. They can improve though, I moved a SS to LB and he went from like 1 at LB to 70 over 2 full years and TC's.
