Inside vs Outside LB

I'm setting up all my depth charts in my own personal career league, and I had a question -

Does it really matter where I put my LBs (or DEs for that matter in a 4-3)? I would assume putting the faster guys on the outside for more sacks, but the computer doesn't do this when you tell it to auto-assign. I'd like to think that the speedier guys should go on the outside as is intuitive but wanted to confirm game engine took this into account.
