When advancing to the next season (first time for me in the 2018 version) the retired players drop down menu from the search screen skipped the previous year (2020 season) and put the current season 2021. Not a big issue because it lists the players correctly, just skipped a year.

all other almanac features and stats screens with drop down menus display previous years correctly as far as I can see

It's possible there were no players that retired that year (or at least players who qualified to be archived...)

no, there were players that retired in 2020, not sure about "qualified to be archieved"

It only saves player history for players who set records, win championships, or are eligible for the HOF. In the beginning lots of players qualify because they're setting all of the default records, but as time goes on fewer will be saved unless they are HOF worthy or had notable seasons.
