Free Agent - years wanted

It seems that even when I offer free agents more years and money they sometimes take a 1 or 2 year deal for less money. I'm sure this is party due to they want to play for a certain team but could it also be that they only want a 1 or 2 year deal? It would be nice that in addition to the expected salary it would list how many years they would like.
