Tie Breakers

How are tie-breakers determined? Specifically, I am running a 16 team league and 8 team make it (4 from each conference). I noticed one team with the same record didn't get in so I was wondering what the tie-breaker rule is.

Just wondering if anyone has an answer to how the game decides tie breaker for teams with same record getting into playoffs? Thank you.

In older versions it used to be the team i.d in the database but not sure if this was changed for 18?

Can anyone confirm - kind of seems like ties wouldn't be unusual, so having a team make/not-make a playoff based on random numbering would be an important issue.
