Also check out the guides (pinned in this forum) they contain some pointers on most things.

Observe that you can meddle in the autorecruit if you want while still having it on, for instance by assigning scouting points or removing scholarships from players you dont like and offering them to others etc. Only thing it may do is remove scholarship offers on players it doesnt think it has a good chance of signing, otherwise it will leave your changes in.

That was my next question, there are some recruits that I would like to try to get that the CPU isn't recommending. As long as it's not to late in the season.

yeah, you can give it a shot, and it will respect it but as long as autorecruit is on, it may bail on them if it doesnt like the odds.
