Conference change/question

Conference change/question

Postby Seazyceaz » Tue Feb 20, 2018 11:49 pm

I noticed in Wayne’s dynasty report “Hoosiers” that IUPUI was in the Summit league. They actually switched over to the Horizon League beginning this season- just wanted to put that out there.

Also I have a question for Wayne. I’ll be a first time player with the new release, but I’ve read the forums, watched YouTube videos, and everything else to get ready for the release- I’m pretty excited and have been waiting to find a college game like this for quite some time. My question is what level do you recruit on? I’ve noticed you pull high end recruits right away with a lower level school and no success pretty regularly, so I was just curious. Thanks! Can’t wait until the 27th

With a low level team I do Easy for the first two seasons, and Normal after that. With higher level teams I do Normal from the start.

I'd suggest you start playing and learning the game using "easy" then move up to more difficult recruiting levels if you want.

I now typically use the "brutal" recruiting level. It makes recruiting more challenging (and I think more realistic) and makes it more difficult to build an quick success...but I've been playing the game a long time. But as Wayne will tell you, I'm a glutton for punishment and have also been a primary "AI fanboy" encouraging Gary to make the AI tougher against humans in all aspects of this game.

Re IUPUI and the Horizon League, I'd suggest you mention that to bloomington in his mod thread so he can update it when he gets a chance.

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll definitely post the conference realignment in Bloomington.

I’m with you on difficulty PG. I’ll have to get a hang of things on the lower levels but I am all about it being as realistic as possible and The ultimate goal is taking and succeeding on the hardest challenge possible!

It's pretty difficult to determine the specific degree of effect with each increasing level of difficulty, but it seems that as difficulty levels increase, recruits are less likely to be interested in our program, building interest becomes more difficult, getting them to talk with you on the phone and agree to come for campus visits is tougher, and recruits are less likely to accept scholarship offers. So typically you end up with a little lower quality recruits than you would at lower levels of difficulty. Even at "brutal", though, you can get reasonably decent recruits at lower prestige programs...but not the top quality recruits who in real life would not be accepting scholarships to these programs anyway.

I've always liked the recruiting aspect of DDSCB more than any other part of the game. I think you'll find it challenging at whatever difficulty level you decide to use.

Gary seems to have toughened up the "Easy" level in the new edition. I'm not getting the players I used to get, or at least not as many of them. I'm fine with that. Not sure if he actually did this or not but I know I'm not getting as many decent players. I'[m wondering if he adjusted the other levels.

Think you're right about Gary upgrading the AI's recruiting with CB2018, although no way to quantify this but subjectively I agree with you. I do know that AI controlled teams now go after JC players more than in CB2017. Playing using "brutal", it's nearly impossible to get a top 100 (or even top 200) player to commit to a lower prestige program even with very aggressive recruiting by the human game player. But that seems realistic to me. In fact the highest rated player I am able to recruit might be a Top 400 or 500 or 600 or 700 player. Of course, if my coach was at a highly rated program, then I'm pretty sure he'd still get some very good recruits, although maybe not as many or as easily as with CB2017.

Here's what Gary said he was doing with CB2018 re recruiting:

"RECRUITING - AI should be more aggressive now in using its recruiting options every week and late in the year both teams and players should be more aggressive in making/taking offers"
