Zone Defense and Threes

Obviously a 2-3 zone is going to force a certain amount of outside shots, but when my team faces a zone, over half my shots, maybe even 70 percent of my shots are threes. Now my team is a collection of a bunch of unathletic catch and shoot players so maybe this is an accurate portrayal lol. i tried opening up the offensive freedom to no avail.

How do other peoples teams look against 2-3 zones? Are the three point attempts within an acceptable range for you?

Haven't experienced anywhere near that % of 3's in any DDSCB game I've played.

I've done an analysis of team stats and all were very close to what's happening in real life Division 1 NCAA basketball....and 3PA in DDSCB2018 were extremely close, both the average number of shots/game for all teams and the range of number of shots/game for all teams.

He's not talking about overall shot attempts for a season etc. He's referring to the number of threes taken when facing a team that runs predominantly 2-3 zone specifically. I've also noticed this as well not just in this version but in previous versions as well. The 2-3 zone is a little overpowered in forcing three point shot attempts. Good passing teams should be able to break the zone down more often along with the dribble drive game. I've already spoken with the Gary about having more dribble drive and slashing players and also the positioning of guards and swingmen within the offensive sets. They pretty much play on the outside, rarely drive the ball which all contributes to what the OP is seeing.

Go to "Strategy" (near the top of the screen). The first screen that pops up there will show your Offensive Settings. I'm betting that's set to either "Favor Outside," or "Heavy Outside." If so, change to "Balanced" or whatever you want it to be.

This doesn't work. Has a minimal effect even on Heavy Inside.

Agree. I've played a lot of DDSCB games against all types of defenses (including 2-3 zone teams) and never had my team have 70% of their shots (or even close to that) in a game be 3's.

But since some are experiencing that, it's good you've reported it to Gary so he can check into it.
