Gameplay is top notch

Maybe it's a placebo affect and all these things weren't actually improved upon, but I feel like the tuning done to gameplay this year is on point.(Everything else is top shelf too, but I'm just going to talk about gameplay) Teams play at the tempo that is assigned to them much better now. The last couple of years my team would take the shot clock down under 8 almost always (even against poor defensive teams) despite being instructed to play at a fast pace. Now my guys are often shooting shots with 19-20 seconds left on the clock like I want them to. A byproduct of this is that team scoring, shot attempts and player averages are more in line with what we see in reality. Shooting percentages are higher too, also more in line with real life. Only a handful of teams shoot under 40 from the field and under 30 from downtown and the game reflects that better now. In my last game I had 3 players score over 20 pts, I can't recall seeing that happen for me before.

With tempo and shooting percentages improved, having poor defensive players, and no rim protection really stands out now. I inherited a team with defenders that are all 1s and 2s on defense and no one is over a 5 in shot blocking and since I play 95% man to man, with a fast paced offense, I'm getting shredded on D, giving up 90+ a lot and have the 4th worst PPG allowed in all of D1. Players don't just miss shots now just because, if they're being checked by a guy who can't guard a ham sandwich then they get buckets.

All across the board the gameplay seems more in line with modern college basketball as opposed to stylistically resembling past eras. Good job team.

I 1000% agree. Even though I have posted some suggestions (word sounds better than complaints lol), this game is amazingly fun and the choices do matter. Simple things like zones forcing teams into more bad shots, running a triangle offense to get my post more touches or running a more structured offense to compensate for having an unathletic team to reduce turnovers. There are a ton of options to tailor the gameplan to your team and they all work like they should.
