Historical mod coming/ Released!

Historical mod coming/ Released!

Postby NCAAhoops » Wed Oct 17, 2018 2:20 pm

In addition to the 2018-19 mod I'm working on a Historical mod that will only be useful to play exhibitions or a tournament. I currently have made 64 teams. 16 teams from the 1980's, 16 from the 1990's, 16 from 2000's and 16 from 2010's. This creates a great tournament setup with each decade in a 16 team bracket leaving a Final Four with 1 team from each decade to compete for the title. The teams are completed, all with real rosters including their ratings to match real life and headshot photos. I created courts for each team as well as logos from the era. I've been playing this for about a month now and very happy with the results. The only thing I need to complete is some of the 1980's team player photos.
This should be completed and released in November as I want to get the 2018-19 season mod released first before any games are played.

This is now released in the mods section

Here's a list of teams of the 2010's. First thing I did impose some rules so the blue bloods would not dominate the list over and over.
1. To make the list of course the team had to be a dominate team of the year.
2. If not dominate at least a roster that had a known dominate player.
3. No player could be on more than one team. This kept dominate teams from being in several years in a row with mostly the same roster.
4. No more than 3 teams over the four decades from the same University.
5. Team had to be during the 3 point shot era. I would love to add some of pre 3 point era teams but haven't tried with this first version. Not sure they could be mixed with teams post 3 point shot.

I'll list teams from each decade over the next few days.

Listed is the team year, their season finish, won-loss record, and a couple of the top players.

2017-18 Villanova, National Champ, 36-4, Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Donte DiVincezo
2016-17 Gonzaga, National Final, 37-2, Zach Collins, Nigel Williams-Goss, Przemek Karnowski
2015-16 Oklahoma, Final Four, 29-8, Buddy Hield, Jordan Woodard
2015-16 Oregon, Final Four,31-7, Chris Boucher, Dillon Brooks
2014-15 Duke, National Champ, 35-4, Jahlil Okafor
2014-15 Kentucky, Final Four, 38-1, Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker
2014-15 Wichita State, Sweet 16, 30-5, Fred VanVleet
2014-15 Wisconsin, Sweet 16, 22-13, Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker
2013-14 Connecticut, National Champ, 32-8, Shabazz Napier
2012-13 Louisville, National Champ*, 35-5, Russ Smith
2011-12 Kentucky, National Champ, 38-2, Anthony Davis, Doron Lamb, Terrence Jones, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
2011-12 Ohio State, National Final, 31-8, Jared Sullinger, Deshaun Thomas
2009-10 Butler, National Final, 33-5, Gordon Hayward, Matt Howard
2009-10 Purdue, Sweet 16, 29-6, JaJuan Johnson, Robbie Hummel
2009-10 Tennessee, Elite 8, 28-9, Tyler Smith, Wayne Chism, Cameron Tatum

Here's a list of the 1980's decade teams.
I only went back to 1986-87 as that was when the 3 point shot was fully implemented in college.
Everything for the mod is complete other than the 1980's decade player pictures. Player pictures for anybody besides the best two or three players per team is a task. I'll spend more time on these once I'm finished with the 2018-19 mod and get a short break. Still looking at a November release.

1988-89 Arizona, Sweet 16, 29-4, Sean Elliott, Anthony Cook, Sean Rooks
1988-89 Georgetown, Elite 8, 29-5, Charles Smith, Alonzo Mourning, Jaren Jackson, Dikembe Mutombo
1988-89 Illinois, Final Four, 31-5, Kendall Gill, Kenny Battle, Nick Anderson
1988-89 Michigan, National Champ, 30-7, Glen Rice, Loy Vaught, Rumeal Robinson
1987-88 Kansas State, Elite 8, 25-9, Mitch Richmond, William Scott
1987-88 Oklahoma, National Final, 35-4, Stacey King, Andre Wiley, Harvey Grant, Mookie Blaylock, Ricky Grace
1987-88 Temple, Elite 8, 32-2, Mark Macon
1987-88 Vanderbilt, Sweet 16, 20-11, Will Perdue
1986-87 Alabama, Sweet 16, 28-5, Derrick McKey, Jim Farmer, Mark Gottfried
1986-87 DePaul, Sweet 16, 28-3, Rod Strickland, Kevin Edwards
1986-87 Indiana, National Champ, 30-4, Steve Alford, Daryl Thomas
1986-87 Iowa, Elite 8, 30-5, Jeff Moe, Kevin Gamble, B. J. Armstrong, Brad Lohaus
1986-87 Navy, 1st Round, 26-6, David Robinson
1986-87 Nevada-Las Vegas, Final Four, 37-2, Armon Gilliam, Freddie Banks, Gary Graham, Jarvis Basnight
1986-87 Providence, Final Four, 25-9, Billy Donovan, Delray Brooks, Ernie Lewis
1986-87 Syracuse, national Final, 31-7, Rony Seikaly, Sherman Douglas, Greg Monroe

Again some interesting teams here, Georgetown with Mourning and Mutombo. Also because I could only use 4 years of teams it gave room to put some teams in that may have not have made it otherwise, like Navy with David Robinson and a few others.

I'm looking forward to giving this a try. Always nice to have something different to play around with...particularly something that is designed specifically for the Tournament Maker component of DDSCB.

When you release this, be sure to put it in the Mods section of the forum.

Will do. I'll get you a pre-release today to checkout before everyone else. (you posted first about the mod). I would like to get your thoughts before I officially release. It's totally different than previous mods geared to using the Tournament and Exhibition modes on the DDSCB first screen. Choose Exhibition or Tournament and choose the Historical Mod for the association to load. I'll include a pre-setup tournament laid out with sixteen teams from the 1980's, 1990's, 2000's & 2010's in each region of the brackets so each decade puts one team into the Final Four. Of course you can create your own as well.

Something I have not mentioned is the rest of the teams are full of real 2016-17 players from a mod that I hadn't released. So if a team does not have a historical team in the mod such as Xavier, Florida State, Georgia or all the others they have a 2016-17 roster of players.

If you just want to expand DDSCB and play something different than your association, it's fun to play. It can be just a one time exhibition or a tournament that don't take very long. For instance last night I played 2007 Florida and 2007 Ohio State in a rematch of the National title game back then.

Cool!

I mess around with Exhibitions and also Tournament Maker a fair amount. I've found both to be a fun way to play "what ifs"? With Tournament Make I most often just focus on one bracket area so I can play a 4, 8 or 16 team "tournament", but have done some 64 team tournaments as well.

I'm surprised more people haven't done more with these two great options for DDSCB. Maybe your mod will get more people to try them out.

I have not been able to get an image to just show in a post so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Anyway if you click the link you'll see a pic of the 2009 North Carolina vs 2007 Florida game with the Florida 2007 court and Al Horford headshot.
