3/9: We play #7 seed, #24 ranked Ohio ST, 20-10, 9-7, in the 1/4 finals. We won by 21 at our place, but they’re good, especially inside.

3/10: 84-74. They led by 15 early, 10 at the half. We scored 53 in the 2nd. 23, 6, 4, 6 for Lon Hill. 15, 6, 4 for Puzy. +10 TOs, +7 RBs.

#6 seed, #18 ranked NC ST, 23-8, 9-7, in the semis. We won by 18 at our place. Their SG can light it up.

3/11: 78-56. 19, 12 for Vick, 18, 7 for Hill. +12 RBs.

#1 seed, #16 ranked Villanova, 25-6, 12-4, for the title. They won by 14 there. If we can contain their outside game we can beat them.

3/12: 82-66 and the Conf. D title! We never trailed. 17, 15 for Hill, 18, 9 for #3 guard Sam Noya, 16, 9 for Vick, 16, 8 for 6th man Del Herd. +19 RBs.

28-4, 12-4. Do we dare hope for a #2 seed?

#2 East. We play #15 seed Campbell, 19-11. Tough bracket.

3/16: 89-76. Never trailed. 19, 14 for Hill, 13, 15 for Puzy, 17 for Son Evan. +18 RBs.

#10 seed Cincinnati, 19-10, in round 2. They’re tough inside, but so are we.

3/18: 85-75. 22, 8 for Hill, 18, 7, 9 for Evan, 13, 10 for Puzy, 17 for Del Herd.

In our first Sweet Sixteen we play #11 seed Virginia, 17-13. On paper it looks like it could be close.

3/23: 74-86. They were the better team, led most of the way. Every time we threatened to get back in it they stopped us, and/or went on a run. Good team!

4/3: #11 seed Virginia is the national champ. Amazing!

4/4: Lon Hill is Conf. D POY and 1st team, along with Eric Puzy. Cris Vick makes the 2nd team. I am Conf. COY.

4/9: FL ST wants me. I’m tempted. They have a better budget, for one thing.

I’m staying here.

4/23: I ask for $. I get $11,500.

30-5, 12-4. Overall, 210-85, .712. Headed for Conf. C!

No time for the VR chamber during the postseason, but I’ve relaxed in there quite a bit during the past two weeks. Spent some time with Angela, lots of time on the water. The great thing about VR is that you can be in a boat on the water and by changing a couple of settings you can be driving a race car, hiking in the woods, playing tennis, or any number of other things. Home VR chambers have led to people spending a lot less time socializing in “real life,” but if they’re doing what they want to do, I just don’t see the down side. The psychologists don’t seem to agree with me on that.

5/1: #21 recruiting class.

6/25: No one of interest.

6/26: 4 scholarships. We need big guys.

8/21: We offer to 2 PFs, 2 Cs.

9/18: Got a C, #143.

Alaskan vs. VCU.

9/25: Got a PF, #130.

10/2: Got a C, #261.

Picked 5th in Conf. C.

11/6: 8 man rotation:

Juco junior Wayl Henn is at the point. Soph Sam Noya starts at SG, subs at PG.

Senior Aron Huse and junior Wes Turn sub at SG.

Soph Rudy Geer starts at SF. Frosh John Hask subs at SF and PF.

Senior Del Herd starts at PF, subs at C. Senior Lon Hill is back at C.

The news from the multi-generational ship headed for another solar system is all good. The hydroponics are working flawlessly. There are no engine or other mechanical issues. Air and water are optimal. Spirits are high among the crew and passengers. It’s a LONG trip, and it will be several generations before the target planet is reached, but so far so good!

11/20: 2-0 start. We beat #18 Utah in our opener. Ranked #25.

All 3 recruits sign. Hoping to land one more.

One more at home, then off to the Alaskan vs. TCU. We’re the #2 seed, they’re #7.

11/25: 74-58. 16, 5 for PF Del Herd, 13, 11 for C Lon Hill.

#3 seed Kent ST, 3-0, in the semis.

11/26: 98-91. 24, 14 for Hill, 24, 6 for Herd, 17, 5, 9 for PG Wayl Henn. +20 RBs, 8 TOs.

#1 seed, #16 ranked Alabama, 5-0, for the title. Could be a battle.

11/27: 80-73. 23, 5, 4 for Henn, 16, 7 for SG Sam Noya, 14 for SF Rudy Geer.

12/4: 7-1. Road loss by 4 to a team we should have beaten easily. Not happy. They shot 17-35 on threes. Ridiculous!

12/18: 10-1, #12, RPI #9. We’re playing solid basketball except for that one loss. Lon Hill leads us with 16.0, 8.1. 14.5, 7.5 for Del Herd. SG Sam Noya gets
14 a game.

1/1/2232: 12-1 going to Conf. C play. #15, RPI #5. +15.8 PPG, +7.8 RBs, +5.2 TOs. I have a feeling the games are about to get tougher.

Had a few days off for the holiday. I worked a lot, of course, but I found some time to go on a rigorous mountain hike with Angela, and we cooked a couple of meals on the boat. It’s always nice to relax a little. One of the advantages of having a virtual girl friend. Angela fell off the boat. A "real" gf would have drowned, unquestionably. It was during a violent storm, and there was no way i could rescue her. Given that she, the boat, the storm, and everything else except me were virtual, I just stopped the program. I restarted it with Angela on the boat, never having fallen in the water.

1/15: 15-2, 3-1. We’ve played 4 good teams. #14, RPI #5.

1/29: 17-4, 5-3, #14, RPI #8. Tied for 5th. Schedule the rest of the way is more favorable than not. +10.2 PPG, +8.3 RBs, +3.7 TOs.

2/12: 21-4, 9-3, #9, RPI #4. Tied for 2nd place.

2/19: 23-4, 11-3. We’re on a roll, 7 wins in a row. We’re alone in 2nd, 2 up on 3rd, with 2 to play. One win gets us 2nd place.

2/26: 25-4, 13-3, going to the post season. 9 game win streak. #7, RPI #2. +11.0 PPG, +9.1 RBs, +2.9 TOs. 15.6, 9.1 for C Lon Hill,
15.7, 8.5 for PF Del Herd, 14.3 for SG Sam Noya. 3 others with 8.7 or more. We have weapons!

I don’t have any time for VR adventures at this point in the season, but I often sleep on the boat. Being on the water lulls me to sleep.

3/9: We play #10 seed Iowa ST, 15-13, 7-9, in the 1/4 finals. We won by only 3 at our place. We feel we have a big edge inside.

3/10: 88-80. We led by as many as 20, but they were down by 4 twice late. 24, 12 for Del Herd, 23, 9, 4 for Lon Hill. +18 RBs.

#3 seed, #16 ranked Villanova in the semis. They crushed us at their place. We feel we can win if we play good ball.

3/11: 68-78. The shots didn’t drop. 17, 10 for Herd, 15, 5 for Geer, 13, 5, 6 for PG Wayl Henn.

26-5, 13-3, #6, RPI #2. Can we hope for a #2 seed? Seems reasonable to me.

3/12: #2 Midwest. We play #15 Eastern Michigan, 19-12. It’s not a terrible bracket until we get to the round of 8- IF we get to the round of 8.

3/16: 67-52. The shots didn’t drop again (32.4%), but the D was solid. 52 RBs didn’t hurt.

#10 seed USC, 24-9, in round 2. We’re the better team, but we need to regain our shooting touch.

3/18: 80-69. We shot only 36.9%, but we took 22 more shots, mostly due to +10 RBs and +10 TOs. 24 for Noya, 16, 13 for Herd.

#3 seed, #14 ranked New Mexico, 25-9, in the Sweet Sixteen. Good guards and a good center. It shapes up as a toss up.

3/23: 94-72. We played a terrific game. 19, 15 for Herd, 21, 7 for Hill, 17 for Noya. +15 RBs.

We’re in our first ever Elite Eight, vs. the #1 seed, #2 ranked Arizona, 27-7. This is a very good team, solid at all 5 positions. We need to play a near
perfect game to have a chance.

3/25: 82-96. They simply had too many weapons. 24 for Henn, 15 for Hill. Great season!

4/3: #2 ranked Arizona won it all. We lost to the champs!

4/4: Awards: Lon Hill made the Conf. C 1st team. Del Herd made 2nd. I was named Conf. COY.

4/9: I’m staying. I think the Salukis may be a bit overmatched in Conf. B, but we’ll give it all we have.

4/23: I ask for $. We get $12,000.

29-6, 13-3, Elite Eight. Overall, 239-91, .724.

I’ve been able to relax over the past few weeks. I worked, but the days were usually short. That meant lots of time on the boat, a few hikes, some fun cooking with Angela, and just some time to recharge my batteries.

5/1: #24 recruiting class.

6/5: Looking.

6/12: Got two very solid looking transfer guards, one from Michigan and one from Nova.

6/26: 2 scholarships. We need guards.

8/7: SF Rudy Geer is our 1st ever Norton list nominee. #50.

8/21: We offer to 2 PGs.

9/18: Got both PGs, #80 and #101.

Sunshine vs. TCU. Some challenges in the pre-conf. schedule.

10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re picked to finish 6th in Conf. B. We’re in with some REALLY good teams, 6 of whom are ranked.

11/6: 9 man rotation:

Junior Sam Noya is at PG, with senior Wes Turn subbing.

Senior Wayl Henn is at SG. Redshirt frosh Len Lear backs him up.

Junior Rudy Geer is at SF. Frosh Vin Tayr starts at PF, subs at C. Soph Ike Hort subs at SF and PF. Soph Mick Byam subs at PF.

Soph John Hask is at C.

Good looking team but the conference will be a real challenge.

The latest reports show that only about 1/3 of the population is now involved in relationships featuring two or more humans. VR relationships are in the majority. Again, it works very well for me, but the psychologists say it is not a good thing.

11/20: 2-0 start. #21.

Both recruits sign.

12/4: 5-1. We let Dayton shoot 54% against us in the loss. One more game, then off to the Sunshine Shootout where we’re the #2 seed.

12/9: 88-68 over TCU. 29, 5, 6 for SG Wayl Henn, 18 for PG Sam Noya, 14, 12 for PF Vin Tayr. +12 RBs.

#6 seed Washington ST, 4-2, in the semis.

12/10: 91-79. 20, 11 for C John Hask, 22, 5, 6 for Henn, 17, 7, 3, 4 for SF Rudy Geer.

#1 seed, #17 ranked UConn (We’re #22), 7-0, for the title. This should be a battle.

12/11: 85-83! 16 lead changes, 12 ties. 22, 11, 7, 5, 3 for John Hask, including the winner. 17, 6, 3 for Geer, 13, 5, 4 for Henn, 14 for Noya. Great win!

1/1/2233: We go to conf. play 11-2 after a road loss at #11 Purdue. #18, RPI #22. +11.3 PPG, +7.9 RBs (#2), +5.7 TOs (#1). Henn leads us with 15.5. Hask gets 14.4, 10.2. 13.9 for Noya. 12.7, 7.1 for Geer.

Life remains good for almost everyone in 2233. The pollsters say that 89.3% of the people report that they are Satisfied or Very Satisfied with their lives. Makes sense to me!

1/15: 14-3, 3-1. Good start to Conf. B play. #15, RPI #16.

1/29: 17-4, 6-2, #14, RPI #17. +10.8 PPG, +8.0 RBs (#2), +3.9 TOs (#1). Tied for 3rd in conf.

2/12: 21-4, 10-2, #6, RPI #9. Alone in 1st in B.

2/26: 23-6, 12-4. Alone in 1st in B. It came down to the last game. We were in a 3 way tie. We won, the other two teams lost. +9.5
PPG, +7.1 RBs, +3.5 TOs. #7, RPI #9.

No time for the VR chamber except to sleep. Thankfully all good hotel suites now have the chambers because I’ve gotten so used to sleeping on the boat I really can’t sleep anywhere else.

3/9: We play #8 seed UCLA, 18-12, 9-7, in the 1/4 finals. We won by 12 at home, but they’re tough, and better now than they were then.

3/10: 73-70. Whew! Never more than 9 points between the teams. At the end their very good PG missed a three that would have sent the game to OT. He had 33. 22 for our SG Wayl Henn. 3 guys had 12 each. +13 TOs.

#5 seed, #16 ranked Pitt, 20-9, 10-6, in the semis. We won by 12 at home. We need to contain their backcourt to win.

3/11: 83-72. We had a solid 2nd half. 22, 8 for C John Hask. Very good bench play, 28-13.

#2 seed, #10 ranked Western Kentucky, 24-6, 11-5, for the title. We won by 20 at home, lost by 2 there.

3/12: 58-69. We shot 29.9%; -5 TOs. Not our night.

25-7, 12-4, #4, RPI #10. Hoping for a #2 seed.

#2 South. We play #15 Northwestern ST, 21-9. Decent bracket.

3/17: 76-64. 20, 8 for PF Vin Tayr. 16 each for Henn and Geer.

#7 seed Oklahoma ST, 18-12, in the 2nd round. They have a very good backcourt.

3/19: 82-80. Hell of a game! 28, 15 for Hask, including our last 6. 19 for Henn.

3rd straight Sweet Sixteen. We’ll play #6 seed, #20 ranked Memphis, 20-11. On paper they’re better. We’ll see.

3/24: 65-76. We blew a 17 point lead. Just couldn’t make shots in the 2nd half. 20 for Noya, 13 for Tayr.

4/3: #20 ranked Memphis wins it all. We got beat by the champ!

4/4: Awards: Vin Tayr is Conf. B Frosh OY. John Hask makes 1st team. Wayl Henn makes 2nd team.

4/9: I’m moving. How do you say no to UCLA? You don’t. At least I don’t. It’s a bit of a rebuilding job, but give me two years.

4/23: We ask for money and get $20,000.

Ready for a new challenge!

27-8, 12-4. Overall, 266-99, .729.

Unfortunately, we in the Los Angeles area are facing an extreme rarity. There seems to be a serial killer on the loose. He preys on young women headed home late at night- waitresses, bartenders, women in the medical field- anyone who gets out of work after dark, especially after 10:00 p.m.

The authorities are saying that at least 8 women have been murdered by what they feel is the same person. No clues of any kind, so far.

5/1: #44 recruiting class. I’m aiming for top 20 this season, hopefully top 10.

REALLY weak looking team. It could be a long season.

6/5: Draft pool is empty.

6/26: 7 scholarships.

8/21: We offer to 3 PGs, and SF, 3 Cs.

9/18: Got 2 PG, #4, 22, an SF, #5, a C, #7.

NIT vs. #11 Duke. Not ready for this level of competition.

9/25: Got a C, #29. Lost a PG.

10/2: We get a C, #40. Lose a PG. One more to get. Has to be a guard.

1st day of practice. We’re picked to finish 14th in 16 team Conf. B. Looking at our first practice that may be accurate.

10/9: We’re done. We get a PG, #42. Let’s just get through this season so that we can get to next season when we’ll be competitive.

11/6: 9 man rotation to start:

Walk on junior Ed Bett starts at PG, subs at SG. Senior Mark Talo starts at SG, subs at PG. Junior Tom Dary and frosh Ed Farr sub at SG.

Walk on senior Walt Penn starts at SF, subs at PF and PG. Frosh Al Cass and Mel Ford sub at SF.

Junior Kit Hoin is at PF, and senior Dan Hack is at C.

Our only real hope is the two walk ons. That's never good but these two look like they might make us a better team than we were before we found them. Time will tell.

11/13: We start at the NIT with #11 Duke. They’re the #6 seed, we’re #11.

The serial killer count is up to 10. He (We’re assuming it’s a “he.”) got two nurses walking home together from work, after midnight. He stabbed both, multiple times. The authorities are saying (quietly) that the only good news is that he is striking very frequently. That usually means a slip up, and they hope to be close by when the slip up happens.
