Blitzing

Blitzing

When setting up a playbook, or calling plays in the game, where can I find blitzes to put it?

Also, in the same vein, can you create your own plays?

I asked a similar question about Blitzes. There are some listing in the Plays.XML file, but they don't seem to pull into the playbook editor. Brooks is looking into it. I have just started to play around with the plays, but if you mod the Plays.XML file, I believe that you can create your own plays. Just make a backup of the original file first before modding!! :)

Now that I've looked at the xml file, I can see why. The plays you can see have a different format from the plays you can't... examples below.

The key question is that if you change the action in one of the "correct" plays to "Blitz", would that make the player actually blitz? I don't know the allowed commands for the actions, so if Blitz is an actual command, then it might work. I would assume (yes I know what that means! :) ) that only the linebackers and DBs can be set up to blitz, but I don't know the exact logic in the programs. I'll have to give that a try as well.

I've been doing extensive testing and I put blitzes and regular plays all in one playbook, set the plays to 0% blitzes in the strategy, and it seems to be working out fine. All the plays in the playbook I made myself, BTW.

At this time, no. It's very incomplete and just a test run to see if I could get things running the way I want them to be run. However, i will give you what I put at the end of the file with a few base blitzes.

You will put this in the Plays.xml file, between these last two lines in the file:

Here is a very basic 43 base blitz package. Please note you will need to adjust the frequency that each play is used... I am still playing with blitzes, etc., so this is just a test and you should really update it and build the playbook yourself. These are simple plays just to test the system. If you want to look at the X's and O's, you need to put this in the Default playbook without the <Playbook Name..etc. >, <Plays>, </Plays> and </Playbook> parts. You can't look at the plays in the playbook for some reason.

Just note there are a LOT more blitzes and coverages you can add. I'm not a fan of the 34 or 335, so I can't really advise on that. I will say I've got a lot more blitzes I've been trying, and a few coverages, but these are the very basics. For 43 defense, Slot ID 0-3 are the defensive linemen. I haven't yet tried to put them into coverage, so I'm not sure which lineman goes to which number. Slot ID 4 is the middle linebacker. Slot ID 5 is the left outside linebacker and the Dime CB in Dime. Slot ID 6 is the right outside linebacker in 43, and the Nickel CB in Nickel and Dime. Slot ID 7 and 8 are the CBs. I never tried CB blitzes so I'm not sure which is left side and which is right side. Slot ID 9 is the Strong Safety and Slot ID 10 is the Free (Weak Side) Safety.
