Idea after tough loss

So I was trying to mount a comeback and had my team set to look for three's and intentional foul down the stretch. Miraculously my team worked down a 7 point deficit and hit a tying three point shot with two seconds remaining. Then the other team inbounded the ball and got fouled before I had a chance to turn off intentional fouling. So their player hit one of two free throws and won the game by a point when I missed the half court heave.

My suggestion is that when pause at all stops is checked. The game automatically stops after each made basket in the final minute or 30 seconds of the second half. I know this isn't an actual stop in a game but in real life I could shout not to foul in real time.

Well that would probably be more of an annoyance to everyone who would have to spend the last 30 seconds or minute hitting continue to keep the game moving - maybe a better option would be to only trigger the intentional foul if you are behind?

I have played the demo on a pace of 4... had the same thing happen... but I got in a timeout no problem... I guess that in the final minutes you can slow the game to what works for you... it is a nice feature....

That's what I do, I slow down the game in the last 20 or so seconds and hit pause as soon as a basket or something else happens and make my adjustments if it's a tight game that I need to make the right calls to pull off a win.

in cb1, with great 3 point shooters, and not much of anything else, i was once down by 24 at halftime, and set 3point for the entire half, putting my freshest 3 point shooters in at each dead ball, mainly a 4 guard offense...we wound up winning the game...however, i never tried intentionally fouling each and every possession. it would have been my coaching staff on the floor at the end of the game. Also that was lightning in a bottle, and unlikely something i'll ever see again. my suggestion is, instead of intentionally fouling go to a press defense 100% of the time designed to force turnovers...IF you have practiced one.....and make sure the non-3 point shooters you have are your best rebounders...like i said...lightning in a bottle, but it might work...especially if you use timeout motivations to drive the ball inside! If you haven't made significant ground by the 2nd media time out...take the loss and just give your 2nd and 3rd stringers significant time the rest of the game, because that counts too (developing faster if they actually get time on the court)

in less ridiculous situations, you do have to start intentionally fouling and going to a 3 point offense earlier in the cb franchise that you might have to in a real game. however , my advice remains the same...with less than 2 mins in the game...get your best 3 point shooters on the floor...if a dead ball defense, get your best ball stealers on the court while going full tilt on pressure defenses intended to force turnovers. I don't necessarily even go to 3 point offense then...just make sure you score and get the ball back quickly, and then use timeouts to get your best 3 point shooters shooting.

Did you have any timeouts left? If so, you could have checked one of the call timeout "on score" boxes. Also, you could have slowed the game down to a very low pace (even all the way down to 1 if necessary) sometime before the possession where your team made the game tying three. This would have let you watch your player movements in slow motion and allow for time either to turn off intentional fouling after scoring or to pause the game after scoring then turn off intentional fouling.

The game has a bunch of options; it's easy for anyone to overlook something they could have done or forget about an available setting. Mistakes happen, and we learn from them. I've had games where I had made mental notes to substitute certain players, monitor certain numbers, or change certain settings when the game enters the final moments but then forgotten to do so. These mistakes have cost me a couple of games.

Even though your mistake is not directly translatable to real life circumstances, the way human error can affect games due to the depth of options, settings, and other things that one's mind must keep track of helps make coaching in DDS:CB more realistic to me.
