Starting up as UVA

I am going to play a UVA career in order to learn how things SHOULD go for a top-tier team, something I have neglected to do with DDSCB19.
Immediately I find myself with a question on recruiting. The suggestion was that I buy the Gold Atlantic (of course) then the basic for the other regions except for International. In addition, it suggested buying the National Basic. I did so in order to see what is going on with that. Essentially if I click on NATIONAL, I get all the players with basic info. So my question is, why suggest the National Basic in addition to the regional basics? Why not simply get the National Gold and have the best information on all the regions?
Secondly, I looked at the other ACC teams and counted only 14 players 6-10 or taller. So less than one per team. Why? I don't think its all that random as other games I've played have seen similar height-challenged squads at lower levels.

Right. If you can afford the National Gold there is no need to buy any basics or gold for any regions.

I've never purchased the National Gold but....does it rate ALL recruits in the U.S. or just the upper crust?
Re height: I checked ACC in my association and 16 players were 6-10 or over so avg was just over 1/team, but still not a lot since in real life ACC had 39 players of 6-10 or over (avg of just over 2-1/2/team). In my DDSCB association a check of Pac-12 reveals 25 that are 6-10 or over (tallest is 7-4) so avg is just over 2/team z(real life Pac-10 had 33 that were 6-10 over over so avg of 2.75/team). Big 10 had 15 players 6-10 over over so avg was just over 1/team (real life Big 10 had 32 players 6-10 or over so avg of 2.3/team). Southeastern had 16 that were 6-10 or over so avg just over 1/team (real life Southeastern had 32 6--10 or over so avg of 2.3/team).
So for those 4 conferences, there were 72 players of 6-10 or over in my DDSCB association, whereas real life had 136 players of 6-10 or over...so almost twice as many in real life as in DDSCB.
I think your issue about height is better sent directly to Gary.

Decided to check a couple low prestige conferences in my DDSCB association:
Summit League had 14 players of 6-10 or over on the 9 teams so an avg of just over 1-1/2 per team in DDSCB. In real life the Summit League had 9 players of 6-10 or over so an avg of 1/team.
Western Athletic in my DDSCB association had 12 players of 6-10 or over for avg of 1-1/2/team whereas in real life that conference had avg of just over 1-1/2 players/team.

Playing devil's advocate here, but what is the ratio across the board both IRL and the game? For example, you did 6-10 players, but what about 6-0 players? I am asking because there is probably a ratio for the AI to generate players. It just might be skewed to one direction or the other to make the 6-10 players off. You are right in the Gary should know this!!

It is really hard to find actuarial quality height information on the aggregate heights of college teams/leagues. I could only find overall median data which is pretty much useless.

Actually the USA Gold is 150 players across the nation and the regional golds are 200 players deep. I restarted to find that out.
The lack of anything truly useful in the basic reports is one of my biggest disappointments in this game.

Totally agree about the basic reports. They have very little value.
