Hereafter

12/13: Disaster strikes. The game was an easy home win over #14 Kansas, 71-40. The usual domination inside and an easy win.

With only second remaining in the first half one of our “Big 4” went down. Turned out it is a torn MCL and he's out for a very long time. He MAY be back in time for the start of practice in October.

Frosh Ross Cort will be our #1 off the bench and Wams, Wrig, and Bute will all get more time. Tough injury!

1/1/2057: 2 more wins. 83-56 mover #8 Alabama, here. 21, 16 for Wrig, 20, 5 for Wams, 12, 12 for Bute, so the inside players continued to do what they do. +20 down low, +18 RBs.

Our last pre-conference game was a 90-66 home win over Xavier. 28, 11 for Bute, 17, 11 for Wams, 15, 9 for Wrig. Our SG, Rick Tigs, had 19, 5, 5, 5. We dominated inside again.

We end pre-conference play at 11-0, #2 ranked, #1 NET. Virginia, who we beat easily, is #1, which mystifies me.

+21.6 PPG, +16.0 RBs, #1 and #1 in margin. -4 TOs but 13.6, which is not good. +5.0 assists.

Key Wams leads us in scoring with 16.3; he is 4th in RBs with 7.8. Mak Wrig is 2nd in scoring, 16.1, 3rd in RBs. Ed Bute scores 13.8. Dyl Cole, who is now lost for the season, was our leader in RBs with 8.9; he got 12.6 PPG. Rick Tigs gets 12.5. PG Jord Eard gets 5.6 assists.

The PAC-12 has only one other ranked team, #6 San Diego ST, so Coach says it will be a battle between them and us. We play them twice.

Jed Clark here. We are approaching another solar system. Well, the probe to our left found it and they are fairly close. They see two planets and three moons in the “Goldilocks Zone.”

1/15: We started PAC-12 play at California, winning 74-61. We took a big early lead and were in control all the way. 19, 10, 3, 3, 5 blocks for Kev Wams. 14, 9 for Wrig.

Road trips are kind of fun. We charter a plane and have it all to ourselves. There's a lot of kidding around and it's a happy atmosphere. The team has gotten used to having me around and the guys are really fun to be with.

We went from Berkeley directly to Oregon ST and won there 82-59, again taking an early lead and never letting them in. 25, 14 for Ed Bute, 17, 9 for Wrig.

We were way too strong for them inside.

Then we flew home and beat Stanford 80-64. This one was close for about 30 minutes. Their inside players stayed with ours for a long time but eventually our big men prevailed. 23, 12, 3, 3 for Wrig, 17, 8, 4, 5 for Wams, 14, 5, 3 for Bute.

UCLA came to town and we beat them 81-66. We dominated both inside and outside. 24, 7 for Wams, 14 each for guards Eard and Tigs, 13, 6 for Wrig.

“Coach Clark, you're not having much trouble winning.”

“No, we're not, but with Dyl Cole out we don't have the depth I'd like to have. He was a big factor in our success. It hasn't hurt us so far but we play #6 San Diego ST there next and that will tell us how we'll do against really good teams.”

1/29: We won at San Diego ST, 87-76, a HUGE win. We won it inside as Wrig got 24, 11, 2, 4, Wams had 23, 7, 5, and Bute 17, 14, 4, 2, 3 blocks. +15 RBs, +14 in the paint.

An expensive win though. Starting PG Jord Eard strained abdominals and will miss our next 3 games. We are NOT deep at guard. Soph Be Coll will start.
In out second game in this series we beat #19 Arizona ST, here, 96-76. 20, 6, 4 for Wams, 15, 6 for Wrig, 15, 5, 8 for Coll.

Ross Cort our 1st big off the bench now that Cole is out for the season, sprained his wrist. He'll miss our next our next 3 games. The injuries are REALLY piling up!

82-57 at Utah. We led all the way. 25, 10, 5, 4, 4 blocks for Wams, 20, 15 for Bute, 16, 8 for Wrig. Coll was not at all effective at the point but it didn't matter.

Finally, a real battle at Washington, 74-70. They led most of the way, by as many as 11, but we came back late. 17, 7, 3, 3 blocks for Bute, 13, 8 for Wrig, 15, 6 for Wams. Coll was better.

Jord Eard will be back at the Point for our next game.

We're ranked #1, NET #1, 19-0, 8-0, 1 up on Arizona ST, 3 or more on the rest in the PAC-12.

Kev Wams is #8 on the Norton list. Mak Wrig is #17, Ed Bute #29.

We're at the farthest edge of the solar system. The probe shows vegetation on one of the planets but no signs of sophisticated life. We'll see as we get closer.

2/12: 70-51 over Cal here. 19, 10, 4 for Wams, 17, 10, 3 for Bute, 15, 4, 6 for Tigs. We dominated inside again.

Cort is 100% and will play in our next game.

86-68 over Colorado here. They stayed with us for quite some time. 16, 4, 7, 4 for Tigs, 10, 12 for Wrig, 6 players had 10 or more.

97-77 over Oregon. This one was never a game. 32, 8 for Bute, 16, 11 for Wrig, 13, 8 for Wams. +40 in the paint.

Finally, 94-68 at USC. They never had a chance. Big games for 4 players.

Starting SF Kev Wams sprained a finger. He will miss 3 games. Ross Cort will start.

Wams is #7 on the Norton list, Wrig #13.

Kelly Stone here, interviewing Kev Wams.

“Tough break with the injury, Kev.”

“These things happen. The docs say I'll miss a few games but it's not real serious.”

“You're having a great rookie season.”

“Honestly, we've got so many good big men no team can guard us all. I work to get free, and I get the ball and try to put it in the net. It helps to be surrounded by talent.”

“What about rebounding, you're getting 8 a game.”

“I always loved hitting the boards.”

“What does the future hold?”

“Hopefully the NBA!”

“Next season?”

“I haven't made up my mind yet. I might go, or I might stay another year to improve my skills. I need to make up my mind pretty soon. I guess if it looks like I'll be a really high pick I'll go, but if not I'll stay.”

The planet has lots of life, both plant and animal, but no sign of any intelligent life. It's absolutely beautiful, and we can breathe the air with no ill effects. People like it down here and are trying to convince the Council to have us stay for awhile and give everyone “shore leave.” We'll see what happens.

2/22: 3 more wins.

84-63 over Oregon ST. 25, 13, 3 for Bute, 18 for Wrig. 6 TOs and we owned the inside.

76-62 at Stanford. 23, 7 for Tigs, 18, 11, 3 for Wrig. Another game where we ruled in the paint.

80-73 in a close one at UCLA. We only sewed it up in the last 2-3 minutes. 30, 6 for Wrig, 13, 9 for Bute. +20 in the paint.

Still #1, NET #1. 3 game lead over AZ ST with 3 to play, 6 or more over the rest.

New House Rules:
House Rules:
1. Can't cut anyone we recruited or who transferred in.
2. Recruits: Ranked #1-12=1, 13-25 =1, 26-40 =1, 40+ = the rest.
3. Transfers: Can offer to only 1 A in a given week, Only 2 B or better (1 A & 1 B or 2 Bs)
4. Recruiting set to Normal.

It will take awhile for some of this to have an effect in my current associations but I will keep these rules moving forward.

After every conceivable test, and after allowing small groups to stay on the planet for a few days on three different occasions, the Captain and the Council have approved “shore leave.” The crew will rotate down, spending 5 days on the surface. We will continue this until everyone who wishes to participate has been on the surface three times.

I was down with Hali and June as part of one of the trials. It's great down here. There don't seem to be any predators or harmful insects or other “bugs.” The weather is beautiful. It makes for a peaceful retreat from life on the ship. And there are holo chambers down here.

3/5: We finish the regular season undefeated.

82-71 in the rematch with #11 San Diego ST here. It was tied at the half and tied with 7 minutes to play. Then we went on a 14-0 run. 18, 3, 5, 4 for Tigs, 15, 10 for Bute, 16, 9 for Wrig, 11 each for Wams and Cort. +26 in the paint.

90-66 at 2nd place #9 Arizona ST. I didn't expect a blow out but that's what it was. 18, 13 for Wams, 19, 11 for Wrig, 20, 2, 4, 4 for Tigs. +28 RBs.

And in the last regular season game it was 84-67 over Utah here. 19, 16 for Wrig, 18, 9 for Wams, 18, 8 for Bute. Full control inside.

29-0, 18-0, #1, NET #1. 4 up on AZ ST, 8 on San Diego ST.

+18.7 PPG, +12.4 RBs, -4.6 TOs but 13.3. +4.8 assists.

Wrig leads us with 16.9 PPG. Wams gets 15.3, Bute 15.2.

3 players tie with 8.9 RBs, Wrig, Bute, and the injured Cole. Eard gets 5.4 assists.

We expect to lose some people. We're shocked to lose only two- starters Kev Wams and Rick Tigs. We'll miss them but it could have been worse!

Mak Wrig is #7 on the Norton list.

We go back to recruiting.

3/9: We play #8 seed Washington, 18-13, 8-10. We won by only 4 there. That was very much an off night for us. This is a team we should beat easily.

Game time: We take the lead early on. Up 15 after 10. 41-25 at the half. 13 for Wrig. 9 for Bute but he has 3 fouls, as does his man. Only 3 TOs.

87-62. Easy win, as expected. 26, 9 for Wrig16, 8 for Wams, 13 each for Tigs and Bute. 7 TOs.

People are really enjoying shore leave.

3/10: #5 seed Stanford, 18-14, 8-10, in the semifinals. We beat them by 16 and 14. We think we're better at every position.

Game time: Very slow start for both teams. 11-12 after 10 minutes; we're shooting .211. 27-27 at the end of a very slow paced first half.

We shot 23.5% to their 30.3%. +8 from the line. They have 2 players with 3 fouls. The pace picks up early in the 2nd. Up 2 with 10 to go.

We finally get the lead to 10 with 7 minutes left.

76-66. We didn't look very good tonight, shooting only 34.8%, but they shot about the same. +11 from the line, and that was the difference. 16, 13 for Wrig, 16, 8, 7 blocks for Wams. We were better inside.

3/12: #3 seed, #13 ranked San Diego ST, 22-9, for the title. We beat them by 11 twice. They look very good outside but we're better inside. They're only 2-5 vs. ranked teams.

Game time: Fast paced start for both teams. Up 12 after 10; Bute is on fire. 51-28 at the half. Bute has 22. We're playing much better than they are. Up 21 with 10 left.

88-77 but it wasn't that close. 34, 7 for Bute, 18, 11 for tourney MOP Wrig. +26 in the paint. It's interesting that we beat them by 11 points three times this season.

We expect to be the #1 overall seed.

3/13: #1 East, #1 overall. We start against #16 seed, play in winner Norfolk ST, 13-20.

3/16: Only up by 6 after 10. We don't seem to be into it. A late run puts us up 49-34 at the half. 16 for Wrig, 15 for Wams. -8 on the boards but only 2 TOs. Up 20 with 10 to play.

90-72. We were in control all the way.

26, 5 for Wrig, 22, 9 for Wams, 12, 11 for Bute. 5 TOs to 20.

Costly win. Ed Bute sprained a toe. He won't play again unless we reach the final four.
