11/22: We play #4 seed Iowa ST, 2-1, in the semifinals as all the top seeds advanced. They play excellent defense. We'll need to play very well to win this one.

Game time: We take an early lead. Up 8 after 10. 31-25 at halftime. Laky has 3 fouls again. 9 points for Fine. Only 2 TOs to 14. It's a battle in the 2nd. Up 2 with 10 to go. Late run!

79-61 but it was close for a long time. Fine led the way with 27, 5, 3 steals. 14, 5, 4, 3 for Anda. The bench was +11. +20 in the paint and 6 TOs to 24.

#3 seed Auburn, 4-0, in the title game. They're a big favorite. They are very good outside, and with Sill out this will be a challenge.

Game time: Close early. Up 2 after 10. A late run puts us up 48-32 at the half. We're scoring easily, shooting 50%. +10 inside, 3 TOs. They're coming back. Up 8 with 10 left; they got it to 4 earlier.

84-76 and the tourney title! 14, 5, 4 for SF Mel Wilk, 16, 3 for Laky, 13, 4 for sub guard Al Whit. Fine had 12 and 4 but 7 TOs. 8 fewer TOs.

Sill is still out and will miss our next game.

The Krai are exerting a disproportionate amount of influence on everything that happens on the ship.

12/4: Sill was still out when we defeated Florida ST here, 76-64. We led all the way. Fine had 14, 5, 3. 17, 3, 3 for Laky. 10, 11 for sub F/C Dal Matt.

Ranked! #16.

Sill will be back for the next but starting PF Tony Anda strained a calf and is out for a week and a half. Mel Wilk will start for him.

Without Anda we lost to UConn here, 64-75. We were up 4 at the half. They beat us inside and outside.

We bounced back and beat the Provocation Fryers there, 83-67. 22, 4, 5 for Sill, 13, 5, 4 for Johs. +12 inside and only 7 TOs. Anda will miss one more game.

We're 6-2.

12/25: Baylor beat us up, 81-67 here. We really missed the injured Tony Anda but no one played very well. Laky had 17 and 6 but his man had 20 and 6. The bench did well, +15.

We went to Iowa ST and barely won, 87-82 in OT. Anda was back in the lineup. 16 each for our top 3 guards, 13, 10, 3 for Laky. +22 in the paint.

We ended pre-conf play with a blowout over Houston here, 79-39. 16 each for Laky and Anda. +14 in the paint and 11 fewer TOs.

We're 8-3, ranked #25. Interestingly enough, 2 of our 3 losses were at home

+8.6 PPG, +0.9 RBs, the lowest margin I can ever remember. -6.8 TOs but our games are very sloppy, 14.5 to 21.3 TOs; that's a LOT of turnovers!

We have no stand out scorer, 4 players get between 11.8 and 11.0. No stand out rebounders.

The Big 10 isn't particularly strong this year but it could still be a challenge.

The Krai are finally blending in. Most of their questions have been answered and they seem content to remain in the holo chamber, which has been programmed with activities they enjoy.

1/8/2061: Tough going in the Big 10, as expected.

We started with a 48-56 loss at Michigan. We played great D but we shot 27.1%, 2-17 on threes.

We squeaked out a 67-66 win at Illinois on a last second 15 footer off a double screen by Johs, who had 18, 4, 7, 6. 19, 10 for Laky. +20 in the paint.

86-77 at Rutgers. 22, 3 for Fine, 18, 3, 7 for Sill. +13 on 2nd chances.

Then we lost at home, 59-74 to Purdue. -9 at the line. 14, 6 for Anda.

Every game is going to be tough in this conference.

There's another solar system up ahead. The probe can't quite get any useful info yet. The Krai are excited.

1/22: 79-59 over Nebraska here. We led all the way. 16, 12 for Anda, 16, 9 for Laky. Very strong inside play.

We got crushed at Maryland, 59-80. They shot 50%, we shot 31.9%. 16, 13 for Laky.

79-5 over Northeastern here. 1`8, 8, 5, 3 for Laky, 15, 5 for Anda. 6 TOs to 20. We've been turning it over too much so this was nice. +30 in the paint.

63-43 over Illinois here. Terrific D held them to 22.8%. 23, 4, 3 for Johs.

Starting PG Jack Sill strained a calf and is out for two weeks. Moe Fine will start at SG and Aron Johs will move to the Point.

We're 13-6, 5-3, tied for 4th, 3 back of 1st.

The probe says 2 planets and 3 moons in the Goldilocks zone, signs of sophisticated life on a planet and 2 moons.

2/5: We lost at #16 Michigan ST, 65-74. They shot 51.1% to our 35.1%. 19, 4 for Laky, 15, 7 for Johs. We were slightly better inside but turned it over 19 times.

75-63 at Minnesota. We were up 2 at the half. 24, 0, 4, 3 for seldom used sub guard Al Whit. 18, 4 for Fine. +20 in the paint.

55-43 here, in a rematch with Maryland. This was a defensive battle in which they shot 30.8% to our 35.8%. 13, 11 for Anda, 13, 4, 3, 4 for Johs. We were better inside.

64-61 over Rutgers. We led all they way but never by much, and they had a chance to tie it at the end, missing a three as time expired. 17, 2, 3, 4 for Fine, 12, 9 for Anda.

Jack Sill returns to the lineup for our next game.

We're 16-7, 8-4, tied for 4th.

We are at the outer edges of the solar system. We are sending signals, visually and auditorally saying we are here on a peaceful mission of exploration. No reply yet.

2/22: We lost to #3 Wisconsin here, 76-87. They shot 52%. Aron Johs had 21, 3, 4 before fouling out. 13, 0, 6, 3 for Sill, 14, 3 for sub C/F Lav Robb. They won it inside.

62-59 in a rematch at Northwestern. They led by 9 at the half. We battled back and there were 14 lead changes and 5 ties in the second half. 19, 5, 1, 4 for Johs, good bench play.

A 78-76 upset of #25 Ohio ST there. 25 lead changes, 13 ties, and we won it on Moe Fine's three with 1.1 to play. 19, 3 for Fine, 14, 9 for Anda.

A blowout 70-42 win over Indiana here. 24, 5 for SF Mel Wilk, 12, 8 for Laky. +16 in the paint.

19-8, 11-5, tied for 3rd, 2 back of 2nd, with 4 to play. Our NET is #23. #2 Wisconsin has all but wrapped up 1st place.

We are orbiting the planet with the signs of most sophisticated life. Still no communication. We want to give the inhabitants every chance to communicate with us before sending robots down.

3/5: We finish STRONG!

75-62 at Nebraska. Down 1 at the half. 22, 10 for Johs who has been scoring a lot lately. 11, 3, 6 for Sill. 50 RBs!

76-72 at Purdue in a real battle. They led by as many as 14, but we never quit. 23, 4, 5, 5 for Johs12, 8 for Wilk, 18 for Laky. 10 TOs.

We're ranked! #23.

62-56 over #16 Michigan ST here in a game that wasn't that close. We led all the way, by as many as 23. The final score was as close as they came, and that was on a last second three. 20, 2, 4, 4 for Johs, 13, 2, 4, 4 for Sill. +14 down low.

We ended the regular season with an 88-38 slaughter of Penn ST here. 19, 5 for Fine, 15, 3, 3 for Sill, 13, 4 for Wilk. We dominated inside and had only 7
TOs. Johs had a rare off night, mostly due to foul trouble.

We end the regular season at 23-8, 15-5, tied for 2nd, #3 seed. We're ranked #20, NET #16.

+7.7 PPG, 21st in PPG Allowed. Only +0.5 in RBs, the lowest I ever remember. -6.1 TOs but 14 per game- awful!

No standout scorers. Our starters get between 11.5 and 7.5. Sub guard Moe Fine gets 10.2. No real standouts in any category. That will change next season as we have some excellent recruits coming in.

No one goes pro. Considering 4 of our starters are seniors that is definitely a relief!

The robots are on the planet. They show every sign of a sophisticated, a very sophisticated society. But there are no living beings- of any kind. The robots are trying to figure out what's going on.

We also have robots on the other planet and the moon where life is possible, but no signs that there ever was life on either.

But this planet is a mystery.

3/8: We play #6 seed Purdue, 19-11, 11-9. They beat us at our place and we returned the favor. They're favored but I think if we play our game we can beat them.

3/9: We score the first 12. Up 19 after 10. 34-21 at the half. We let up, which has me steaming. 12 for Laky, 10 for Johs. 3 TOs. Up only 4 with 10 left.

62-55. After a great start we simply did not play very well offensively for most of the game. Our D was fine. 23, 5, 2, 3 for Johs, 14, 4 for Laky. 10 TOs to 24.

I am on the planet with a party of human and robotic explorers. All sorts of systems are operating here- subway or trolley type transportation, electricity for all sorts of things... It looks like they had all kinds of businesses and recreational facilities. There are all the signs of a very advanced, very active society, but no living beings. No animals, no insects. There is plant life but it has not overtaken the planet due to machines that keep the plant life in check.

Where did everyone go? We are searching for records. We have yet to find the planet's equivalent of libraries or computers but they are bound to exist. Of course then it will be a matter of translation.

The Krai are asking to be allowed to come down to settle on the planet. That will not happen until we are finished our exploration and have found some answers.
