1/9/2039: 15-1, 4-0. Tied for 1st in the ACC, ranked #3.

#1 ranked Duke, 15-0, 4-0, is here.

Close early. Both teams are cold. Down 4 after 10. 52-39 at the half after a late run. 13, 6 for Turr, 10, 1, 3 for Chap.

10 point lead early. Up 18 with 10 to play. We expected a war and we’re blowing them out.

93-71. Triple double for Chap, 10, 10, and 10. 25, 12 for Turr, 14, 12 for Camm.

“I’d say we’ve hit our peak!”

“Yeah, Jess, we can’t play much better than this!”

1/29: 21-1, 10-0, Ranked #1, 1 game lead in the ACC.

The guy we didn’t expect to hit our SAT score didn’t even come close.

2/15: 26-1, 15-0, 2 game lead over Duke in the ACC, 5 or more over the rest with 5 to play. #1 in the nation. Den Turr is #1 in PPG, RBs, and blocks.

3/4: 30-2, 19-1. Ranked #1. We win the ACC by 2 games.

Den Turr leads us and the country in PPG, 22.7, RBs, 14.4, and blocks, 3.3. Jake Chap leads the nation in assists with 5.9. Mark Gill gets 13.2 PPG, 11.8, 9.4 RBs for Jim Camm, 10.5, 9.9 for Aimo Haki.

We’re #1 in PPG with 87.6, +21.7. #1 in RBs with 51.0, +20.7. -5.7 TOs, #2 with 9.2.

3/5: OUCH! We lose Den Turr to the pros and 3 other guys. Nobody in the recruit pile that we want. We haven’t had ANY luck in the Transfer Pool but we need to hope that changes.

#1 seed, #3 ranked Wisconsin, 34-5, in the national semifinal. All 4 #1 seeds made it. They beat us by 6 in the Legends Classic. On paper it’s anybody’s game.

4/1: Early lead. Down 2 after 10. Close late. 41-43 at the half.

We trail early. Down 7 with 10 to go. We trail late but it’s close.

87-82. 18 lead changes 10 ties. Hell of a game! 27, 14, 4, 4 for Turr, 13, 7 for Haki, 10, 6, 3, 3 blocks for Camm.

#1 seed, #2 ranked Duke, 36-3, in the title game. We split a pair of games in the regular season.

4/3: We need a big game from Turr.

Early lead. Up 9 after 10 but Turr has 2 fouls. 33-28 at the half. Turr played only 7 minutes. Both teams shot less than 30%.

Early lead but it’s close. Then we get it to 10. Up 8 with 10 to play. Double digit lead late.

73-66 and our 2nd title! 19, 11 for Turr, 11, 13, 5 blocks for Haki, 11, 15 for Camm. We definitely won it inside.

4/4: Awards: Den Turr is Final Four MOP, WS POY, WS Def. POY. I am national COY. In the ACC Turr is POY, Def. POY, 1st team. Jim Camm is FroshOY and 2nd team along with Gill and Haki.

4/9: I’m not going anywhere.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade again.

No yet again. SMFH

We go 38-3 and win the national title. For 14 seasons I’m 401-109, .786.

5/1: Preseason #1. Recruit class #15. We NEED 2-3 guards and at least 1 big guy in the Portal. That’s if no one else leaves.

5/22: We lose a big guy. Now we need 2-3 of each.

5/26: We get nobody. We desperately need to grab some guys.

Baby #3 is due in December.

5/29: Nobody again.

6/2: We get 2! A guard and a C.

6/5: Nobody.

6/9: We get a guard. He’s not great but he’ll be our #4 guard. Much better than a walk on.

6/12: We’re done.

6/25: We go to Indy and the Big Apple.

6/26: 1st day of recruiting. We need 2 guards and 3 bigs.

“Dan Fran here with Coach Jess Wynn of the national champion UConn Huskies. Jess, 2 titles in 3 years. Not bad!”

“I’m pretty happy about it, Dan.”

“You’re preseason #1. Can you do it again?”

“Well, it’s a tall order, especially with Den Turr gone. Time will tell.”

7/17: We offer to 5 guys.

Von is home a lot during this time of the year and we love it. We do a lot together and I have a little more free time so we go on a lot of day trips, most with the kids but occasionally just the two of us.

Kip plays golf every day that the weather permits. He tees off by 7:00 so he’s in the office in the late morning. He’s an excellent golfer, scratch, which means no handicap. He usually shoots in the low 70s.

8/7: Jake Chap is #7 on the Norton list. Mark Gill is #8, Aimo Haki #15, and Don Drye #26.

9/11: We get a guard and lose one.

9/18: Jackpot. We get the guard and 3 bigs.

Tough pre-conf sched.

10/2: First day of practice. We actually look good enough to contend for the title. It will probably take us a awhile to come together though.

11/12: Here’s the lineup:

Senior Mark Gill moves to the Point, at least for now.

Junior Jake Chap moves to SG.

#3 guard is soph Cris Cher, a transfer from Nevada where he started. He’s good enough to start. Soph Josh Alan is a transfer from Mississippi ST. He won’t play a lot unless we have injuries.

Junior Aimo Haki is at SF. He may be our best player.

Frosh Don Drye is at PF. He’s looked very good in practice.

Soph Jim Camm is in the middle and we have very high expectations for him.

1st big man off the bench is senior Erik Taye, a transfer from Arkansas. He does a lot of things well. Frosh Eric Hook is next. He’s still developing. Frosh Dave Gann isn’t ready.

11/13: The season starts tomorrow at #25 Penn ST.

11/22: We win our first 5 games. We beat Penn ST by only 6 in a game that was close all the way. Jim Camm led us with 19 and 12. 23, 8, 5 for Chap. 12, 10 for Haki.

Then we went to the Emerald Coast Classic beating #8 seed Siena by 38. 14, 19 for Camm, , 14, 4, 5, 3, 3 for Chap, and 14, 5 for Don Drye.

In the semifinal we beat Louisiana Tech by 17. 21, 4, 4 for Mark Gill, 15, 9 for Camm, 16, 3, 5 for Chap.

In the final we beat #10 ranked Arkansas by 10. They took a big early lead, 14, and we had a strong second half to turn it around, 42-21. 20 for Gill, 13, 4 for 6th man Erik Taye.

In our first 5 we showed we can score both inside and outside.

Wayne's cranking out seasons (and Coach Wynn and Von are cranking out babies) like Ohtani and Judge crank out home runs. :D

Congrats on yet another championship.
