A New Tomorrow

2/4: 87-84 in OT at New Hampshire. They're a lousy team. We should have won easily. My very first OT game as a head coach. This was close all night long and it seemed that the last possession would win. In regulation the last possession tied- they hit a three. In OT we hit a three, by Cris Self as the clock expired. They stayed in it with threes, 16 of them. 19, 9 for Maze. I'll take the win but we're not playing well right now. I have to say that OT is really stressful.

2/8: 83-97 to Hartford at home. Now that defines a BAD loss. Most points we've ever given up in my three years here, I think. We're just way off our game right now.

Three lousy games in a row. We've got to turn it around, and quickly!
It's really a two team race, us and Maine.

2/11: 62-40 at Vermont. Terrific D. They slowed it down but it didn't help them at all. 18, 5 for Maze. We held them to 29.8% shooting, 0-14 on threes. Maine lost so we have a one game lead.

2/15: 93-59 over MD-Balt. County here. Never a game. 26, 9, 5 for Runn, 21, 5 for Maze. Only 6 TOs, maybe the least ever for us.

Two good games in a row. I'm hoping that means we're back on track, especially since our next game is at Maine and could decide the regular season conference title.

2/18: 64-74 at Maine. I guess we're not back. We opened strong, building an early 13 point lead. By the half it was down to 3, and in the 2nd we just disappeared, going down by 14 at one point. Poor shooting was the biggest problem, along with foul trouble. 22, 15 for Maze but he didn't get much help.

My hope for being ranked this year was just a pipe dream I guess. And yes, I know we only have 4 losses and I know we're still tied for 1st in the AEC, but 3 losses in our last 6 games!

2/22: 81-76 at Binghamton. It wasn't pretty but it was a much needed win. 21, 10 for Maze, 18 for Self. +11 RBs. 22 lead changes, 21 ties. Finally, with less than 3 minutes left, we went on a mini-run and built an 8 point lead, our biggest of the game. That got us the win.

Maine got beat on the road so all we need to do is win our finale, at home against 3rd place Stony Brook, to capture first place and host the tourney for the first time. They're playing well though, and they beat Maine tonight.

2/25: 79-55. We left no doubt! It went back and forth early. Then they went on a run and we were down by 9 with 7 minutes to go in the 1st half. I called a time out and laid into the guys. They came back and went on an immediate 13-1 run and we were up 10 at the half. We owned the 2nd half and won going away. 28, 6 for Runn. +18 RBs.

We end the regular season at 25-4, 11-3, alone in 1st, RPI #70. +14.3 PPG, +7.9 RBs, -2.6 TOs. Nick Maze leads us in pts. And Rbs with 17.2, 7.8. Runn gets 16.2, 5.5.
Kent Minz gets 4.6 assists.

We get to host the tournament!

Anna is due at the end of October. She tells me she feels fine and I have seen nothing to contradict that.

One of the not fun parts of being management is dealing with an employee that isn't getting it done. I've been working with the stats person on the Darwin but I just couldn't make any progress with him. His stats were very poorly done, his written reports were cryptic at best with just about zero useful information. He was late to work regularly, didn't supervise his assistants properly, and didn't train them at all. Anyway, after some real effort over the past few weeks I realized he just wasn't going to get it done. I fired him today. One of my assistants from the fermi when I was running the stats there, is more than ready to be the head person on a ship. I offered him the job today and he accepted. Now I'm going to need ot train him, and his assistants since they were never trained. There will be some long days for the next few weeks.

3/4: We play 8th place New Hampshire, 8-21, in the quarter finals. We won by 48 here, but only by 3 in OT there.

3/5: 87-50. It was never a game. My guys were really focused. 23 and 13 for Runn. All 5 starters had 10 or more. +20 RBs, 12 TOs.

It's 15-15 Stony Brook, the #4 seed, in the semis. They beat us by 1 there, then we won by 24 here. All 4 favorites won in the first round.

3/6: 80-71. They were determined and they never quit but the game was never in doubt late. 18 for Self, 15, 7 for Maze. Good win.

As expected it's #2 seed Maine, 18-13, 10-4, for the title. We won by 25 here, lost by 10 there just a couple of weeks ago. We're easily the better team when we play our game so let's hope we do!

3/7: 81-49. We were amazing tonight. 27, 7 for Maze, 17, 6, 3 for Runn, 16, 3, 3 for Minz. +21 RBs.

We're going to the NCAA tourney for the 3rd straight year. Our record is 28-4, 11-3, RPI #64. Frankly, I think our RPI should be in the 50s. I'm hoping for a #10 or a #11 seed but I expect to be disappointed.

The guy I fired slit his wrists. The medics were able to save him. I feel no guilt. He simply wasn't doing his job. I gave him every opportunity to change but he showed no interest in doing so. I wanted him completely out of my department and he wound up doing prep work in the kitchen at the Darwin. He snuck an 8 inch knife out and slit his wrists in his living unit. Then he panicked and called for help. Fortunately the medics got there in time. We have a small psych facility on the Jung and he'll be there for a few weeks or longer.

3/12: A #12 seed in the East. We play #5 seed, #20 ranked Louisville, 22-9. This won't be easy. I would so love to win a tournament game.

3/16: 66-77. Damn! They pounded us in the 1st half, building a 21 point lead. We got it to 15 at the half but never got closer than 7 in the 2nd. They were just a lot better. 20 and 9 for Maze.

4/3: #4 Providence wins the title.

4/4: Awards: Nick Maze is AEC POY and 1st team again. Brad Runn also made the first team. I was named COY. I was disappointed that Kent Minz was not named to the 2nd team.

Well, I may very well have coached my last game at UMass-Lowell. We'll know in a few days.

4/9: I'm out of here. BIG jump to San Diego ST in the Mountain West. They had a great season, 24-11, 12-6, and they have a TP of 60. Great facilities, A-, decent academics, B-. Only losing one senior who plays a lot. We played them this season and won by 15. Looks like a really great opportunity.

It means moving, but only to a ship right next to ours, the Buzz Aldrin. I'm excited.

4/16: I need to hire a #2 and a #3 assistant.

4/19: Really happy with my new #2. My #3 will be fine, probably not outstanding.

4/23: I ask for money. I spent a lot on assistants and I'll need it.

We get $8,000. I'll take it.

My overall record is 75-24, .758. Not bad. I'll miss UMass-Lowell, but it was time to move on and I'm ready for a new challenge!

4/26: Moving is a hassle. There's not a lot of stuff to move, just clothes and personal items, really, but it's still a hassle.

Anna was able to make a switch with someone in Waste Reclamation so she has a job, which is great. She has been thinking of transferring to Water Resources but that's on hold until after the baby is born. We have parental leave here so she'll be off work from 9/1 until 6 months after the baby is born.

My Admin. Ass't. Has been very gracious about having to move yet again, and she found a unit very quickly.

Dick Long and Aura Li are both trying to arrange to transfer over here to the Aldrin as well but it may take some time. They want to move in together, which may make it easier- one unit, instead of two.

5/1: Two guys transfer out. That happens when a new coach comes on board. One wouldn't have played much but the other was slated to start at SF. We'll adjust.

6/5: We get 2 guards, including my starting PG at UM-Lowell, Kent Minz.

The job continues to overwhelm me. I'm getting it done but the hours are insane. Hopefully it will settle down by the time hoops practices start.

6/26: Three scholarships. I'm only looking at big guys, at least for now.

7/14: We learned in a council meeting today that two of the three experimental oat crops were magnificent successes. Full crops of oats will be planted using these two methods. It appears that this long standing problem is solved at last.

8/7: C John Bowe is #17 on the Norton list.

8/21: We offer to three PFs.

9/18: No in season tournaments this year. A fairly challenging schedule though.

9/25: We get John Tone, PF, #82. I feel we're close to landing the other two.

10/2: Still haven't grabbed those two recruits.

First day of practice. We'll be competitive in the Mountain West.

10/9: Got the other two recruits, Jess Flex, #64, and Kyle Lark, #221, but he's better than that.

10/27: It's a girl! Lily Anna Bender, 7 pounds 11 ounces. Mom and daughter are doing fine.

11/14: Heading into a new season with a new team. I'm excited.

Fortunately, work has settled down somewhat.

11/15: 90-62 over Arkansas ST here. Great way to start with a new team! SG Cole Call led us with 26, 8, and 4. C John Bowe had 17 and 17, and SF Coy Huma had 16. +24 RB, only 9 TOs.

All but one of our pre-conference games are at home. We'll probably pay for that next season.

Babies make a lot of noise. Oh, and they're messy. Love her though.

11/18: 72-64 over #25 Oregon ST here. 13 lead changes 4 ties. We took control with about 4 minutes left. 23, 7 for Huma, and all 5 starters contributed. +8 RB, 11 TOs. It's nice to have guards who take care of the ball.

11/20: Ranked! #22. My first time as a head coach of a ranked team. Feels pretty good!

All 3 recruits sign so we're finished with recruiting.

11/22: 92-63 over Charleston. This was a breeze. 21 for Huma, 17 for sub forward Bob Sher. +15 RB, 9 TOs.

Dick Long and Aura Li finally managed to move here. It took forever. They're both settling into their new jobs and their new living unit.

11/25: 93-68 over Drexel. Another walk in the park. 21, 6, 5 for PG Joe Mura, 21, 7 for Huma. 17, 14, 5 for Bowe. +19 RB, 9 TOs.

This team looks really good. Everything's at home until 12/13 and that helps, of course.

We're 4-0.

11/29: 88-68 over Bucknell. 6 players with 10 or more. SG Cole Call led us with 21, 6, 5. +22 RB, 12 TOs.

12/2: 69-59 over Denver. They played really good D against us but the game was never really in doubt since our D was even better. 18, 17 for Bowe, who has double doubles in all but one game so far. +9 RBs, 7 TOs.

Lily is still in the infant stage. Anna swears she smiles but I don't really think so. Cute as can be though at 5 weeks old.

12/4: Ranked #16, 6-0.

12/5: A terrible thing happened on the S. S. Goddard. Someone vandalized the corn crop. I mean seriously. Whoever did it, and it had to be more than one person, managed to spray or spread a very caustic cleaning solution all over about 1/3 of the crop, making certain that the solution got into the soil. The contamination is very serious and it will take a lot of work to fix it. Obviously, corn is a major food crop. This is going to be a real problem. The new improved oat crop is a month away from harvest so the food allotment people will need to do some serious improvising to keep everyone fed. It's all but impossible to think of any sane reason why the perpetrators would do this. It will hurt everyone, including themselves. Our civil control authorities are launching a full scale investigation.

12/6: 81-68 over #14 Maryland. Big win against a ranked opponent. We led for the last 35 minutes. 19, 9, 4 for Call, 16 with 7 assists for Mura. +20 RBs.

Civil Control have no leads on the attack on the Goddard but they are investigating, and we were told at the council meeting that they now have spies at work.

12/9: 85-51 over Utah Valley. 25 for Huma. Easy win.

Our only pre-conf road game is next.

12/13: 67-85 at Arkansas ST to stop the win streak at 8. We couldn't score (37.1%), and we didn't defend (45.6%). There's no place like home, I guess. This worries me a bit in that half of our conf games will be on the road.

12/20: 53-61 to Indiana ST at home. Not good. Our O was pathetic, 31%. 21, 11 for Bowe but no one else did anything. I'll try to fix this in practice. I'm not happy.

12/27: 93-63 over UAB to end pre-conf play at 9-2. 19-14 for Bowe, 21 for Mura. Only 6 TOs.

We dropped out of the Top 25.

Lily is 2 months old today.

+15.6 PPG, +10.7 RBs, -3.9 TOs (10.5). 1st in the nation in RBs, 3rd in assists, 2nd lowest in TOs, 6th in PPG. But the competition gets stiffer now.

1/2/2181: 96-52 over San Jose ST here. 23 for Huma, 16, 4, 9 for Call. +11 RBs, 6 TOs. Big win to start conf play.

1/4: 69-52 at Nevada. 16, 11 for PF Bo Davy and 11, 16 for Bowe.

The council is frustrated in that Civil Control is running the biggest investigation in the history of the hub and has come up with exactly nothing so far.

The clean up of the corn fields to make them ready to re-plant is finished. The soil is now capable of supporting a crop which will be planted within a few days.

Food is tight but available. But we usually have a fair amount of choice about meals and now there isn't much choice.

1/9: 74-53 over a good Air Force team here. We held them to 20 in the 1st half. 22, 7 for Call.

1/11: 67-75 at Colorado ST. We knew they were good, and they were. 15, 13 for Bowe, 20, 3, 5 for Mura but they were better tonight.

Big one at home next.

1/13: 77-66 over #7 UNLV. Very big win! It went back and forth until we went on a late 11-3 run. 15, 7, 6 for Mura, 19 for sub guard Jake Neil, easily his best game ever.

1/16: 79-63 over Fresno ST. We led all the way. 17, 8, 5 for Call.

We're back in the top 25 at #22.

1/18: 87-78 at Boise ST. 24, 5 for Huma, 16, 5, 5 for Call. This team has lots of offensive weapons, which makes us hard to defend.

1/19: Another incident, and another big one. The soy crop on the Curie. Same method, destroying crop and soil, about 1/4 of the crop and the soil beneath it. Emergency meeting of the council. We have 24 hour patrols, of course, and we always have had those. It was decided that we needed to triple the amount of patrollers during off peak hours of 6 pm to 8 am. The cost in personnel will be very heavy and Civic Control will need to recruit and train new members. This will make us short handed in some other areas but it has to be done. This attack on the food supply is very, very serious. Feeding our people is going to be a major challenge for the next several months.
And the problem is that the heavy patrols will need to be in effect until the perps are caught, no matter how long that may be.
And again, why? What is gained by this?

1/23: 71-79 at New Mexico. The road is tough. We didn't play good D, letting them shoot 50%. Rare for us but foul trouble was an issue. Mura fouled out and Davy had 4. 19 for Neil.

1/25: 85-49 over Wyoming. 19, 14, 4 for Bowe, 21, 4, 4 for sub forward Jam Carr. The bench scored 50.

We're 16-4, 7-2, in a tie for 1st, ranked #15 at the halfway point in the conf season. 6 of our last 9 are on the road. Not good.

1/30: 84-72 at Utah ST. 27 for Huma, 22, 12, 5 for Call.

John Bowe is #15 on the Norton list.

The Civic Control guards are a real presence when I'm out after hours. That's good and bad. It's good in that it will likely prevent another attack. It's bad in that it will probably go on forever without another attack unless they get a break in finding out who is doing this.

2/3: 90-69 over Nevada here. 19, 7 for Huma, 18, 7 for Davy.

Tied with #11 UNLV for 1st. 4 teams are in the hunt. The rest are out of the chase. With 5 of our last 7 on the road I'm not sure how much I like our chances.

2/8: 78-71 at San Jose ST in OT. It was close all the way. We really didn't play well until the OT, during which we played really well. 15, 8, 6 for Call, 14, 12 for Bowe, 16, 5 for Davy, 14, 5 for Huma.

The patrols continue but it is discouraging that there have been absolutely no leads related to either of the two incidents.

2/11: 66-47 at Air Force. Great D tonight. 16, 8 for Call.

With 5 to play it's still a 3 team race. We're tied with #9 UNLV and we play there soon. Wyoming is 1 game back, and we play there soon. Colorado ST is 2 back and they come to us next. So the schedule does NOT favor us.

John Bowe is #17 on the Norton list.

2/15: 68-46 over Colorado ST here. We led all the way. This was a real team effort on both ends. Great D all around and 7 players had between 8 and 14 points. 17 RBs for Bowe. He's a senior and we will miss him.

Wyoming lost so it's really UNLV and us with 3 to play.

2/17: 70-56 at Fresno ST. The guards did it on O. Call had 24, 8, 6, Mura had 20.

We're 22-4, 13-2.

Still nothing to report from Civic Control.

2/20: 69-46 over a weak Boise ST team here. Great D again. 16, 12 for Call who is a terrific rebounder for a guard, 6.2 per game.

Our last 2 are on the road and neither will be easy. At #8 UNLV next. We won by 11 at our place but that means nothing.

2/22: 71-75. We played well but they played better- not by much, but better. The three stooges called a ridiculous 52 fouls and the game had no flow at all. Both teams battled foul trouble all night. 18 TOs, a season high, didn't help our cause. Still, we were competitive on their court. The tourney rotates in this conference, and it is at Boise ST this year, so I feel like we have a decent shot to beat them on a neutral court.

At 3rd place (tied for) Wyoming for the regular season finale. The game means nothing to us, we will finish 2nd no matter what, well, it would take some strange thigs happening for us to finish first, possible but unlikely. But it means a lot to them. They could finish as high as 3rd or as low as 5th depending on what happens in our game and around the conf.

3/1: 71-57. We led all the way, by as many as 23. Hume had 24 and 4. I was really pleased with our effort.

We end up tied for 1st, and the #1 seed in the tourney which is a pleasant surprise. UNLV managed a late loss which handed us the regular season title.

Still no clues.

Lily is growing like a weed at 4 months plus. She reacts to us, smiles and laughs, and is a joy.

3/7: We play #8 seed Boise ST, 13-17, 7-11, in the quarters. We beat them by 9 and 23.

3/8: 81-52. A walk in the park. 18, 4 , 6 for Murs, 12, 17 for Rowe. 9 TOs.

#4 seed New Mexico, 15-15, 10-8, in the semis. They won by 8 there, in our only meeting, but this is a team we should beat.

3/9: 74-58. It went back and forth for about 10 minutes and then we took control. 17 for back up guard Jake Neil. 10, 10, 6 for Call.

As expected it is #8 UNLV (We're #13), 29-4, for the title. We're favored, but only by 1/2 point, so it is essentially "pick 'em." We split two games in the regular season.

3/10: 67-79. Ouch! We weren't in it for long, maybe 7-8 minutes. Then they jumped out to a 12 point lead and never looked back. 27, 9 for Bowe. We controlled the boards, +14, but didn't do much else right.

This will hurt our seeding in the tourney, no doubt.

3/12: #5 West. We play #12 LaSalle, 21-11.

3/14: Another attack. This was different and could have been truly horrible. A time bomb was placed inside the engines on the Galileo. If it had detonated it would have caused an incredibly serious and dangerous radiation leak going far beyond the one ship, as well as possibly killing most or all of the people on the Galileo. Through the merest odd chance, routine maintenance was being done by a synth inside the engine last night and it discovered and reported the bomb. The bomb was dismantled by a special synth bomb squad which we've had for decades but had never had reason to use before. When they took it apart the timer indicated it was less than 5 minutes away from detonating.

The council held a meeting that lasted until 8 am. It was decided that patrols would stop. Instead, video monitors are being installed in all corridors and in all public use and special use rooms on all 35 ships, and in the "tunnels" as well. Two person crews will monitor the cameras 24/7/365 on all ships. The amount of labor required for this is almost exactly the same as that which the patrols required and the people on patrol will have the jobs. The feeling is that this will be more effective than patrolling, which obviously had flaws.

The suspicion is that someone on the council is very probably involved with this terrorist group whose causes and aims remain unknwon.

3/17: 101-82. We only led by 7 at the half, but the 2nd half was ours. 22, 17 for Bowe, 23 for Neil, 15, 5, 6 for Call. My 1st NCAA tourney win!

#4 seed Louisville, 25-10 in the 2nd round. I think they knocked my old team out last year or the year before. If we play well we definitely have a shot.

3/19: 68-80. We didn't play as well as we needed to. 25, 4, 5 for Mura. The last game for starters John Bowe, Joe Mura, and for sub guard Jake Niel.

3/24: There was a bombing in a holo on the S. S. Einstein. It destroyed the holo, took out a wall connecting to the adjacent hallway, and tore open 5 living units. Three people were injured, none critically, and there were no deaths.

The Civic Control people went over the tapes. This is a VERY busy holo, and dozens of people have used it in the past few days. All are being investigated.

4/3: #4 UCLA wins the title.

I haven't mentioned it but I really enjoyed meeting and chatting with legendary UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian this season. I am a hoops historian as a hobby and he's a bright star and a legend among the all time great coaches. His "amoeba defense" style isn't for me but it certainly is effective.

4/4: Awards: John Bowe is MVC Def. POY and 1st team along with Cole Call. Coy Huma made the 2nd team.

Everyone on the videos outside the holo has been interviewed, most more than once, and their living quarters and work stations have been thoroughly gone through by Civic Control. Nothing useful has been found.

4/9: Some very interesting calls about some really interesting head coaching jobs but I'm staying here.

The injured people are recovering and repairs are underway.

4/16: Hired a good #2 assistant.

4/23: I ask for $.

No.

27-7, 15-3, we finish ranked #14. Overall I am 102-31, .767 in 4 seasons.

At today's council meeting we discussed how difficult it is to find the perps given that there seems to be no pattern regarding when, where, and now how they are striking. This is a monster of a problem. Inevitably they will screw up, but until they do we are at their mercy. We've asked all department heads to report malcontents, and we've even put out the word to the entire population of the hub to both report any unusual activity and to report malcontents. There have been reports but nothing that has led in a fruitful direction, at least so far. Whoever is doing this is well organized and doing a great job of being secretive.

5/1: We buy the National Basic.

6/5: We lose two guys, sub guard Ben Bron, and potential starting big Bo Davy. No idea why. There was absolutely no indication that either was discontented.

6/15: We go after a couple of transfers but no luck.

6/26: 5 scholarships. We need guards more than bigs.

6/29: Another attack. This one was in the cafeteria of my old ship, the Fermi. Cafeteria workers eat breakfast after they have prepped the food but before the morning rush begins. One of the workers fell to the floor while eating... a few minutes later another one did... then another and another. The manager then shouted for everyone to stop eating and to freeze in place. You guessed it. Someone had poisoned something.

The cafeteria was closed and the investigators came in. They found that the fruit salad had been poisoned with arsenic. The bitter almond taste of the arsenic was well masked by the blend of fruits and nuts in the salad. 11 workers died.

This is the most serious attack yet and it demonstrates how utterly impotent our measures have been. There's beginning to be a feeling of depression throughout the hub, and a fear is visible on the faces of many, perhaps most of the inhabitants. We have simply got to catch a break soon.

7/23: Still no progress in the investigation. There is a major campaign asking everyone to keep an eye open to anything suspicious. Human nature being what it is people are reporting those who they may not like, or may simply have an uncomfortable feeling about. This is requiring lots of time spent on investigation. Every report needs to be taken seriously.

A small but loud group is complaining about a "police state," and/or a "police state mentality." I suppose we have lost some freedom of movement, and yes, investigators can and do go thoroughly through your quarters and your most private possessions if someone accuses you. But then we are not a society of possesions. We don't have much in the way of those, mostly because we don't need them and we would have no place to keep them. Still, we must do what we can to maximize individual liberty while investigating thoroughly. Until this is resolved few will be happy with the balance that is struck.

8/7: Senior guard Cole Call is #44 on the Norton list. If he plays the way he did last year he'll move up.

8/21: We offer to 2 PGs, an SG, a PF, and a C.

9/18: We get 3, lose one. We lose our highest rated recruit, a PF. We get Kam Stap, a C, #63, Ja Toam, a PG from Australia,#70, and Al Will, an SG, #75.

Going to the Sunshine Shootout and definitely a more challenging schedule.

Nothing new to report on the terrorist attacks.

9/25: We lose a big. We may end up with 4 guards and a big, if we get the guys we're going after right now anyway.

10/2: We get PG Josh West, #70.

First day of practice. My starting PG from UM-Lowell is penciled in at PG.

Not rated preseason. We should have been.

10/9: We get the 5th recruit, PG Jed Teas, #68.

Still nothing to report.

10/19: Another food poisoning incident. This time on the Heisenberg. They were serving an Indian dish with lots of spices and flavors. The arsenic was not at all detectable. At meals other than breakfast the workers eat after lots of other people have come in and eaten, basically whenever there is no rush. 37 dead before the manager halted dining in the caf.

10/27: Happy first birthday, Lily!

Additional cameras added in all food prep facilities. Which means the perps will move on to another means. Life is hell here these days. The feeling of powerlessness is overwhelming.

10/15: The season starts tomorrow.

11/16: 95-60 over Colorado here. 20, 6 for C Bob Sher, 16, 6, 7 for SG Cole Call. +11 RBs.

11/19: 87-63 over Ohio here. Easy win. 20, 8, 8 for Call, 19, 5, 4 for Sher, 16, 7, 5 for SF Mark Thon.

11/20: All 5 recruits sign.

11/23: 58-71 at Austin Peay. Couldn't get anything going on O. -10 RBs. It's early in the season.

A bomb exploded in an empty living unit on the Niels Bohr. Well, it partially exploded. Fortunately it was defective. The goal was a hull breach, the most dangerous, devastating thing that can happen on a ship. Repairs are underway.

11/26: 98-74 over #23 St Johns here. 26 for Sher, 22 for Huma, 20 for PF Mark Thon, and 16, 8, 7 for Call. Big win!

11/30: 79-65 over Utah here. 21 for Huma, 13 for PG Kent Minz.

We're 4-1.

Next two on the road, then the Sunshine Shootout, so it will be a while before we play at home again.

12/2: Our first break in the terrorist case. It came about in a very gruesome way. At about 12:45 am yesterday an explosion occurred in a living unit on the Feynman. When investigators were able to enter the unit they found two dead men. The bodies were so mangled identification was all but impossible but the unit belonged to Albert Falley and Joseph Moore. They were living together as a couple and they were known malcontents. They had been investigated twice but nothing was discovered either time.

The theory is that they were assembling a bomb when it went off. The Civil Control people are now rounding up all of their known friends and the feeling is that we may well have the terrorist cell, or part of it, at least.

12/3: 64-59 at Cornell. This one was a battle. They slowed it down and kept it close. We finally opened up our biggest lead, 10, with 2:39 to play. They got it down to the final 5 points but no closer. PF Mark Thon had 21 and 7, Sher had 12 and 11. +16 RBs.

We're 5-1.

17 men and women are being held in makeshift prison cells on the Fermat. There is a small brig on every ship but records indicate there has never before been a need to imprison more than three people at any one time. The prisoners are being interrogated. We are being given no details on the investigation but the mere sign that these people have been detained and held for two days now indicates that the CC feels that they are on a useful track. This is great news.
